You didn't have any sort of conversation regarding it. Kenshi was asleep, a rare sight, as he was always awake when you were. You had never once seen him asleep. He woke up before you did and slept after you did. You had a hard time surprising him. He was always awake or knew you were doing something. Kenshi was asleep, and you crept out of the bed slowly. You didn't want to disturb him, and you didn't want him to wake up. You wanted to surprise him without him knowing for once. You crept slowly and carefully into the kitchen and began to prepare lunch for both of you. It was cold out, and you thought it was the perfect time to make some soup. You liked your food slightly spicy. It wasn't an overbearing amount. You were perfectly fine with the amount of spices that were in it. You had most of the food cooked when Kenshi had woken up. He stepped into the kitchen.

“What are you making? It smells delicious.” He said as he turned his head in the opposite direction in which you stood. It was a habit of his, turning his head away so that he could hear better.

“It's a surprise, but I made soup. I hope you like it.” You said with a smile as you served him up a bowl and sat it on the table while you took the time to fill yours, as well as get you both something to drink.

He smiled as he stepped closer to you and put his arm around your back. You turned toward him, and he gave you a kiss on your head.

“Thank you, love.”

“You're welcome.” 

You kissed him, and he kissed you back before you both separated and went over to the table to eat.

He grabbed the spoon and took a spoonful of the soup. Taking a moment to smell what might be in it before taking a bite. There was nothing but the smell of spices. He didn't think much of it, but soon came to regret that decision as soon as the food hit his mouth. He swallowed and waited a moment. He took a sip of his drink.

“Are you alright, dear?” You asked as you looked at him with concern.

“I'm fine, I think. The soup is really hot.” He said as he took another spoonful and blew on it some. Waiting a moment before he took another bite. The temperature of the soup didn't matter much as the next bite was just as spicy as the previous one. 

“I… I can't eat this…” He said quietly as he looked away with sadness in his eyes. He hated to say those words. He didn't want to hurt you, but he couldn't stand to eat the food.

“What… Why not?” 

He could hear the change in tone of your voice, and he hated what he was doing to you. 

“I can't eat spicy food. I'm sorry, love. It hurts trying to eat it. I greatly appreciate the time and effort you took into making it, though.” 

You smiled. “It's alright. I'll make you something else.” You said as you began standing from the table.

☆ My gawshhh I dont know about you but I'm so obsessed with 2000s street racing cars like the Nissan 350z or aghhh the car Suki has in 2 Fast 2 Furious, that would so be reader's car I just get that vibe from you (˵¯͒〰¯͒˵).

☆ At first Kenshi thinks your so-called hobby is highly ludicrous and illegal?? Even though he still believes it's for your own good that he takes your keys and hides them, he'll allow himself to let you be happy.

☆ When you first offered to give Kenshi a spin in your specially-made car decorated with all your favorite colors, he was actually looking forward to experience what you’ve been ranting on and on about to him. Needless to say, Kenshi was gripping onto the straps of your four-point harness seatbelts for dear life.

☆ Kenshi for sure brags about you to others, knowing how rare your profession is to find in regular people, he just loves to sneak in mentions of you winning races into conversations that have absolutely nothing to do with you.

☆ Knowing how dangerous street racing can be at times, Kenshi is always insisting on making sure everything in your car is up to date on the latest safety add-ons, you have had to stop him from adding big bright yellow stickers labeled with "New driver, please be patient." and "Baby on board" knowing damn well there was no baby.

☆ When listening to you describe your car’s exterior, he had a look of uncertainty on his face as you started reading aloud the stickers that displayed your distaste of authority figures.

☆ Ever since you even brought up the fact that you had an interest in street racing, Kenshi had some knowledge in it considering his unfortunate circumstances with the yakuza allowed him to observe illegal races and picking up the general knowledge in it. Which helped in being able to share your thoughts and opinions with him even if he was the only person you’d be talking to about racing.

☆ Speaking of being the only person you’d share your thoughts with, He’d love to listen to you talk on and on about what every little tool and button’s purpose is in your car.

I am feeling unusually festive at the moment & while my original plans to see the year out have kind of fallen through I still want to give back a little to the people who support my work. ❤️💚

Unlike pervious things of this nature that I’ve run on this blog, this isn’t one of the giveaways where you like this post and I draw out names. No, this time I’m taking requests from today, 3rd December, up until the 31st of December! So long as you follow this blog, you are free to drop me a request!

How to request!

For the sake of keeping everything in one place, I will be opening up asks on this blog temporarily, and here are the steps you should take when requesting;

Take a quick read of my Request Rules as they still apply to most of this :)

Either send me an ask or shoot me a DM with one of the following: Ship + Short Prompt or Ship + AU Type. Please do not send anything more than this in terms of your request, I will not be accepting detailed requests or ones that do not follow this format. Please keep the short prompts to a couple of words or a phrase at most. A single word prompt is preferred. I’m offering two request’s per person, and you can do any combo of the above formats.

Asks & DMs will be kept private and will not be published and Anon will not be on, but please include if you wish your name to be attached to the request or not. Also please include your AO3 username if you’d like me to set the post there as a gift!

NSFW requests will only be accepted if I have either previously talked to you, or have previously verified your age. I simply don’t have time to age verify this time around, so unfortunately I’d rather be safe than sorry and just not accept them. But like I said, if we talk or you have had to tell me your age in the past, feel free to go on the spicy side :3

I don’t have a set word count for these, it’s really going to depend on how much the prompts given inspire me. That said I will try my best to reach at least 500 words per request!
