Will we get a new one?
Honestly, I feel like a lot of people have left FBI: Most Wanted. It started with Clinton Skye, then his parents slowly but steadily. I mean, only Barnes and Hana are from the original team. And I guess that also happens with the real teams, but just when I get to know a character they disappear. I still miss Crosby, Ortiz and Jess. I have nothing against the new characters. But it seems like every season we lose someone and someone else comes back in their place. What do you think of this?

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Album Review: Flight b741
Tumblr media
p(doom)
BY KEITH MILLER
Prophetic indie rockers King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard’s 26th studio album Flight b741 features the Australian sextet at their most raucous, hootin’ & hollerin’, and rambunctious yet. From take-off to landing, Flight b741 is a true-to-form blues album wherein King Gizzard has passed the mic from band member to band member to give the traditional blues pattern a switch-up.
Across its ten tracks and roughly 40-minute runtime, King Gizzard delivers an enticing album that’ll pair well with cookouts, yard work, parties at a lake house, and all around busy and sweaty times outdoors. From its harmonic vocals and borderline goofy lyrics down to the various instrumentation of clanging pianos, bumping bass beats, and uplifting guitars, my biggest complaint about Flight b741 is that it didn’t come out sooner. Grab your sunglasses and put on a pair of jorts--anyone who’s claimed to like “Dad Rock,” this album is for you.
My initial highlight from Flight b741 is the vocals. Stu Mackenzie takes lead vocals on the majority of King Gizzard albums, with Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Joey Walker, and occasionally Cook Craig, grabbing the mic and singing lead. But this time around, each band member was given the opportunity to write their own lyrics and sing a verse in as many songs as they like. Lead single “Le Risqué” features drummer Michael Cavanagh opening his verse with a hearty, borderline maniacal laugh before diving into a verse describing himself as a “pathetic forgotten steaze” with a “tiny prick.” These off-kilter moments are scattered throughout the record. The second single, “Hog Calling Contest”, features the band snorting, oinking, and squealing in the mic as they quite literally go “whole hog.”
After every play through, I find myself going right back to the start so that I can relive each song and peel them apart. The opening track “Mirage City” describes a beautiful oasis wherein its visitors can escape their problems. It’s a phenomenal opening track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. With multiple movements featuring horns, harmonica, and loud guitars, “Mirage City” is one of the album's best tracks.
When I first put on the album, I was finishing up work and had just started cleaning my kitchen. One of the earlier tracks, “Antarctica”, was playing, and it gave me a little groove. There was a pop in my step as I was wiping off counters and putting away dishes. “Antarctica” lets you bop along as the lyrics sing, “It’s gunna be a miss / I can tell we’ve got a snowballs chance in hell.” While I was moving and grooving and cleaning up my tiny kitchen, I was suddenly and completely frozen in place as Mackenzie closed out the song with vocals that sounded eerily similar to Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves of London.” And I loved it.
Flight b741 proudly shows its inspiration. There were multiple moments throughout the album that reminded me of Crosby, Stills & Nash, and a few others that harkened back to The Band. These moments are never too embellished. Flight b741 does a good job of keeping its listeners on their toes and giving the classic American rock sound a refreshing Australian twist.
After 12 years and 26 albums, some of us fans have to wonder, "How long can they keep this up?” King Gizzard is known for releasing a lot of music in a short time span. They’re known for leaning heavily into musical themes and gimmicks. From inventing new guitars for their microtonal explorations, to recording an entirely acoustic album, to making a jam band record that follows the classical Greek musical modes, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard know how to craft an album around a central theme or concept. Flight b741 has ten sturdy songs, three songs longer than their past four records, and if there is a gimmick, its that the band finally got to kick back and make some fun music with their friends.
Keith Miller is a writer living in Chicago who enjoys music, film, and literature. He’s helped a few startups in the Chicagoland area with their copywriting and blog posts. He is currently eating a sandwich.

@ash-muses asked: "You always know how to make me feel good. (Jo Harvelle and Kenny Crosby? I hope I spelled that right, I'm on mobile)

Kenny smirks at her as he approaches her. He unbuckles his belt and pulls it free from the loops on his pants. He drops his belt on the floor where his boots and shirt had landed moments ago. He puts his hands on her hips and picks her up. "I do, don't I?" He asks, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips as he carries her to their shared bed. He lays her down, gently as he continues to kiss her lips.

Hiii!!! to take your mind to kinder and softer things: any headcannons on josies first birthday with clegan?? will her uncles and aunts come by with truly threatrical gifts that sends buck and buckys eye twitching? will she demand to be carried around by her uncle croz and never be put down for a second? will there be some godawful birthday games that leaves her uncle curt a trip to the er because a game of pin the tail on the donkey is supremely misunderstood? will there be a quieter celebration during the nights bedtime where bucky brushes back her hair and sings happy birthday softly and buck uncharacteristically plays air guitar bc hes ever so freely playful in front of his two favorite people?
i hope everything goes well for you today and tomorrow!! sending love your way ♥️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
she’s just a girl living in wyoming, of course it’s horse themed.
gale and bucky have to put it (in bold) on the invitations they send out to the guys that under no circumstances are they to get her a horse, please.
demarco texts bucky and asks on a scale of 1-10 how mad he’d actually be if someone you know- hypothetically,
an 11. we are renting one that will go back to it’s horse house at the end of the day, so don’t worry about making up for us depriving our child.
this is the first real birthday celebration she’s ever had which makes gale emotional in the lead up when they’re talking about it and she doesn’t really get it.
he gets that- he never really had birthday parties growing up either. getting to do different by his little daughter makes his heart warm.
she has a few little friends from school there but it is mostly the guys and their various families that came into town for the the festivities. and josie kinda ditches her little school friends for them, whoops.
especially her moon and sun and stars uncle crosby.
has a little moment where she gets jealous of the attention he’s giving to his youngest who is just shy of a year old. and matter o-factly informs him it’s not that baby’s birthday, ‘s mine 😾
sweet thing she thinks the baby is cute and all just wants uncle crosby to herself. croz hands the baby off, and josie is quick to park herself in his arms before he can change his mind.
she’s absolutely big enough to walk, but it’s her birthday and she’s cute so uncle crosby does haul her around all day.
rosie rosenthal STUNS with a new talking customized pop up card of himself
he even provides him own replacement batteries this time, and gale tells him they ought to throw them away but he knows they won’t.
the guys spoil that girl rotten, and if it’s with some of the noisiest toys produced in the united states then well, so be it.
kenny is one of the few that doesn’t go the noisy toys route- he gets them a membership at a local children’s museum. and writes bucky his own card that makes him tear up.
because kenny remembers the bucky he saw spiraling overseas and that he spent years and tears so worried about. and now he’s here- and he just wants his buddy to know how proud of him he is.
curt doesn’t wind up in the ER but there is a little bit of a near miss when he gets lost in the haze and whacks his good leg with the piñata stick
sweet josie gets so worried, curt laughing through the pain when he hears her ask if they’re gonna have to cut that one off too (it’s just bruised, but she’s five and doesn’t really understand the one that had to get amputated was a little more injured)
gonna decide that gale plays the guitar in this au because why not. he picked it up after he came home from the war just to learn a new skill.
him sitting on the floor against josie’s bed playing it for her at bedtime while bucky sits in her little princess bed singing to her in his arms.
both guys get a little teary eyed- for more than one reason. because their baby is growing up, they can’t help but wish she was with them for her first four birthdays and because the road to get to where they are now singing their little daughter to sleep was long. especially for bucky.
but they made it to the good life damnit. 🩵

⭐️ for the director's cut game, anything you'd like!
Thanks for the ask 😊 I love open season.
I think probably the cutting room floor for TODCL and maybe the revision process?
So, like any fic writer, I always make cuts when editing the fic. Can be for pacing reasons, plot, or a certain scene just not working. I do post some of these in Side Stories on AO3, but not all of it and there's a lot that never sees the light of day.
For example, Marge had this whole plot line with the Pinks - Helen, Sandra, Lil, and co - about helping her find her independence and creating a life completely free from Gale. It's a critical part of her character arc, but those scenes never quite fit anywhere and I knew I had to cut my chapter length somewhere (they were getting unreasonable, honestly surprised I still have readers). So I had to find other ways to do that with existing scenes, and we'll see some more of it in the next chapter.
There was also going to be a plot line between Pastor Cleven and Ken's mum that started at the fair and ran through to the end of the story. I loved this one and gutted I cut it, but it still happens in my head, so. But essentially, the pastor carries a torch for Ms Lemmons and Gale interrupts him harassing her at the church when he's helping Benny search for Meatball. Kenny never finds out, but Gale and Ms Lemmons become acquaintances I guess, and Gale has another insight into child-parent dynamics outside of his own.
Crosby was going to have a bigger part, and we were going to see the whole 100th and Gale help him take care of his home and family as his mum isn't well and his father has to work a lot to make ends meet. This was going to be somewhere else the pastor tried to interfere but again the way the fic changed over time it didn't fit anymore.
I also cut a lot of Alex, Macon's storylines because of how much I changed the start of the fic. They ended up coming in much later and I didn't have the time to explore them properly. Macon and Bucky were going to get pretty competitive (in a good way) and put Alex's usual mechanic out of business for always hiking up his prices, for example.
Honestly, if I rewrote this I'd probably make Macon and Daniels part of the Red Tails so they had a bigger plot line.
