okay, I actually know very little about this show and I feel like this could be fun to look back at later on so initial succession thoughts post ep1:

Shiv Roy reminds me of Angela Moss from Mr. Robot (but I've only seen s1 of that)

Also there's this guy who shit-talks her in s1 that reminds me of Logan Roy

Admittedly I had seen some tomgreg content prior to this but the "would you kiss me" scene is in THE FIRST EPISODE in what is arguably THEIR FIRST 1-ON-1 INTERACTION???

also a note there I knew from various tomgreg posts (haven't read fic or anything yet I will say that) that tom apparently had a wife but tHAT WIFE IS SHIV??

Idk sibling order for certain yet but I'm guessing it's Connor, Kendall, Shiv, & Roman? Roman has shit-eating youngest sibling vibes

Additionally I'm wondering about age gaps b/c I immediately feel like there's this kinship b/t Roman and Shiv that's lacking between them and the other siblings DESPITE how Shiv clearly and reasonably dislikes him. Like "dude that thing with the kid was really messed up but I'd rather have you in my corner than Kendall" or something

Roman's extreme extreme shittiness. Whew. Like they're all rich ppl shitty in an expected way (Connor's aquifer comment) but the way Roman hires the "business alchemist" to rag on Kendall and rudely dismisses him. The "Calvin Klein date-rape" - "you wish." The million-dollar bet (and the NDA that family signed afterward). oof

His potential audience stand-in feeling tho regarding the "look at all this bullshit" and generally not caring about uppity business stuff is nice tho (tho he seems to actually know a lot about it)

Also further thoughts on Tom (in part b/c I got him as a result on a uquiz recently). Thinking still about how dismissively Shiv and Logan treat him during the episode. Keeping him in limbo/on his toes/not knowing where he stands as he still clutches the watch box on the helicopter. And then there's new guy Greg, who hasn't yet been put into place in this terrible tableau. And he sees an opportunity. And Tom decides this guy doesn't know me really, not yet. I can establish this dynamic with him. I can hold the power and keep HIM on his toes in the same way the others treat him. Except he keeps turning it into joke. He keeps pulling back. Because he wants to experience whatever he imagines holding that power feels like but there's a part of him that's nice enough or hesitant enough at least that he doesn't actually want Greg feeling how he does

Thinking about Greg now too and wondering if he might turn out to be crafty? I mean...he was not very smooth on the weed call with his mom...but rather than talk to his grandfather, I think he's trying to weasel his way into his place?? And betting on the unspoken animosity between Logan and his grandpa to be enough to get him there

Also I watched a trailer so ik about Logan's stroke and ngl I thought Greg was going to annoy him into it for a hot second lmao

Also ALSO the establishing character moment for Tom of knowing exactly what "pre-kend" meant and explaining it completely matter-of-factly.

I appreciate the intro and the thematic music. Everytime it started playing I was like hmmm 😌

Kendall is...interesting. Very vulgar in a performative way? Uncertain of where he stands as an individual because has always tried to stick close to Daddy so he could take over. And perhaps when he did try things his own way...coke addiction. Hm.
