These three chairs sitting under streetlight, at the bus stop, belong to the Royce family. Once prominent socialites, the Royces made their name and their fortune interbreeding Chamois with Poodles. All the world loved to have a Shampoodle in their backyard, or by their arm chair of an evening as the telly showed Tony Barber peeling apples with a 20 cent piece flattened beneath a 71 tram. Then along came those damnable ethicists. "A chamois is not a canine!" they shouted. "A poodle is ineffective at buffing my duco," Ricky Muir shouted. Ricky was later arrested for cruelty to animals, but it was less about using soap-drenched dogs to clean his SS Commodore and more about how he used to tease Guinea Pigs for not being real pigs. You'd be amazed how influential a collective of South American rodents can be when they've had their feelings dashed against the cliff face of society's constructs. But the Royces were not amazed. They empathised with the Guinea Pigs. They too had been metaphorically dashed against the cliff face of society's constructs. Everyone had turned on them. No longer could they waltz into the Kelvin Club to cheer.
