TRIGGER WARNING: BLOOD, POLICE BRUTALITY, VIOLENCE Hi! Send this post to people who say “well, cops murder white people too!” Well, yes they do. This is Kelly Thomas. He was brutally beat to death by three cops in Fullerton, California on July 5th, 2011, and all three cops walked free of any charges. He was mentally ill, diagnosed with schizophrenia, and on July 5th, 2011, Manuel Ramos, Jay Cicinelli, and Joseph Wolfe beat this man so severely that he was lying unconscious in a pool of his own blood. These men can be heard on video saying “Now you see my fists?”, “They are getting ready to fuck you up”, “Start punching dude”. Kelly can be heard screaming “Dad help me, they’re killing me” thirty one times, “Sir, please, okay, okay” thirty times, “Help me, help me God” twenty six times, “I’m sorry” fifteen times. Manuel Ramos was acquitted of Second Degree Murder and Involuntary Manslaughter, Jay Cicinelli was acquitted of Involuntary Manslaughter and Use of Excessive Force, and all charges were dropped against Joseph Wolfe without a trial at all. Federal prosecutors never brought charges to these three men. So yes, white men get killed by police. American police brutality is an epidemic, and Kelly Thomas who had actual mental health complications was a victim of a system that was and still is horrendously unqualified to handle mental healthcare. However, if your argument for white people being murdered by the police is only brought up when a black person like George Floyd is murdered in broad daylight by police officers, just remember the face of this man; remember the similarities, how they both cried for their parents with their dying breaths, the pain that he went through at the hands of the people he was taught to trust, how they cried for God and the only response given was cruelty and violence. 8 years ago today #KellyThomas was beaten by six Fullerton, California police officers. He would spend the next 5 days in a hospital bed on a ventilator struggling to live. He died July 10th, 2011.
