Please...she should not have retired sooner. She was legit the reason Reign was in the hunt last year, and helped the team medal at Tokyo. Yes, this year has been tough, and she recognized it and retired. Your header pic- shouldn't Kelley retire? Girl hasn't done shit in years. Can't stay healthy and is a liability on the field. And Alex, basically invisible at WC. I hope you think they should retire soon too! No way Alex hogs a spot at OLY next year. Girl is getting old and kinda wasted...

Sorry for getting back so late. I agree that Alex should retire from the national team, I also understand the responsibility and importance veterans bring to the team heading into a tournament year. With that being said I think she shouldn’t start but is a great closer for the US.

Regarding Kelley I think her stepping away from the national team whether her choice or not was beneficial. She is aging and sports is a business. Her being a “liability” on the field is sorta what made me love her in the same way I love Katie McCabe and Emily Sonnett. It’s the nature of a true competitor to me. They are both at the end of their careers but they are the players that got me back into the sports both on the field and off.

Also stating that Ohara hasn’t done shit in years is just wrong, she headed the hunt for Washington with sonnet, then went to Gotham and lead their rise. While she hasn’t been prolific at the national level last year she still brought the qualities a veteran should have in a year where a lot of veterans went down with injury.

Players do retire and I do feel sad for it but I also love the next generation that replaces them and I find myself rooting for the players they helped to bring up through the ranks.

I agree with what you are saying but I selfishly want to see Kelley succeed at everything she does.
