Trigun character designs in Kekkai Sensen - mini meta
I keep telling myself I want to do some Beat 3 Peat meta but haven't really been in the mood. I'm quite curious where this third season is going but I don't want to get into hyper detailed analyses like I did with GK on a weekly basis b/c that was burnout inducing. But the most recent chapter Saving Steven Starphase was very much my jam. Steven, Chain, K.K. heavy and finally the appearance of Daniel as well. Though I have some feelings about the Chain crush on Steven but that is for another meta another time. I'm still going on my initial reaction but I was immediately really interested in the Beyondian eco-terrorist chaotic bisexual Birgit.
Tumblr media
Her style is so good. The thigh high black boots, two-tone dress and the typical style we'd expect. Birgit has amazing mod/retro style and I felt like she was familiar.
When she approaches Chain to thank her awkwardly for saving her life, she is wearing another mod/1960s style outfit. A coat, mittens and pillbox hat.
Tumblr media
And then my brain went 'waaaaiiiiii - pillbox hat. Duh.
Birgit's character design is taken from Trigun. Specifically, Elendira.
Tumblr media
All of Elendira's outfits are that mix of retro (1960s) and mod. Their long light colored hair has a similar length and flow.
In this chapter alone, it shows that Birgit is passionate and has a jealous side. Elendira was also jealous of Legato, fighting with him over Knives attention. The fact that Birgit was 1.) saved by Chain 2.) thanked her 3.) has a huge crush on her makes me think that we might be seeing more of her. The possibilities to use any of the points can definitely add to future chapters. There is also the possibility that maybe she's changed her approach to things. Taking the time to show her thanking Chain is interesting storytelling and does remind me that even though Elendira was the toughest of the Gung-ho Guns she did occupy a unique perspective on Knives' side of things.
It is also interesting that the name Birgit (which I assumed was Bridget spelled oddly, and technically it is but the Scandinavian version of it). Apparently, the name means; exulted one, saver, rescuer and she was the one who was 'saved' in addition to the chapter title of Saving Steven Starphase.

Some Rejected Submissions
Listing here some of the anime that I don’t think should enter the competition. If you disagree with any of these, you may try to appeal and I’ll reconsider it.
Edit: This post will no longer be updated. Check this post instead for the tentative list of submissions.
Kekkai Sensen
This anime’s ending song literally set a trend of people making their own versions of it featuring characters from other anime. (You can literally search on YouTube “Anime Title” x Kekkai Sensen Ed to get various results). It was also pretty hyped-up back when it was airing, and I don’t think it’s been forgotten, either.
Noragami
The fandom’s been a bit quiet since season 3 still isn’t released. But I do remember s1 and s2 being very popular. And the s2 opening was even once featured by the official MyAnimeList Facebook page
Tumblr media
Violet Evergarden
I haven’t watched this, so I can’t decide for sure. But my sister did bug me many times to watch it back when it aired. And upon checking MAL, there isn’t much of a gap between its rank and popularity
Tumblr media
Ranked #49 in popularity… I don’t think that’s underrated
And below are the anime I might remove because of insufficient/ unconvincing propaganda:
Delicious Party Precure [Removed]
Gatchaman Crowds
Gurazeni
Hakumei and Mikochi
Happy Sugar Life (to submitter: you’re even saying it’s not good, so why are you still submitting it hsajhdkhjsdkjs. and oh, from your propaganda, it seems kinda… questionable) [Appeal accepted. For some reason, submitter couldn't edit their entry directly, so they just contacted me here.]
Joshiraku
Karneval
Kyousou Giga
Meganebu
Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun
Plastic Memories
Servamp
Vatican Miracle Examiner
I actually don’t wanna remove some of the 13 shows above coz they do seem interesting, so if you submitted any of them, you may edit your propaganda in the GForm (I’ve enabled editing on the form). Or, if you’re not a submitter, you may submit it again with your own propaganda.
Other tournament blogs may like to have as many submissions as possible, but since this tournament, as I said, is gonna be a round-robin, I prefer to have less entries but with quality propagandas. Round-robin takes a lot of time, after all. Actually, I think I might even have to make this a mix of round robin + elimination if I get even more submissions.

A quick list of animes I watched and don’t want to forget:
Mushishi - pure, haunting beauty, 10/10 recommend especially when you want some clarity and calmness in your life. You’ll cry tho
K - the amount of tears I shed TwT I literally miss the characters. Weird af world and story, but somehow I got attached. There should be K: seven stories somewhere but I can’t find it... Also: this whole we’re a bunch of problematic people who become a family is a trope I’ll never get tired of
Tokyo Ghoul - S1 and S2 feel like one huge story and it’s just the beginning so buckle up... There are 2 OVAs (Jack and Pinto) that help with understanding Re: (S3) and then there is S4 which is apparently only the most important parts of the manga... I understand why so many people think that s4 is ridiculous, but the first 3 seasons are great. The manga is a must for the anime tho, bc the last season is a joke, so if you can, read the manga first. With that said, the censorship is terrible so if you can, watch it without the weird black and white patches that take up half the screen, because the animation, the fights, the colours are all extremely vibrant and alive, just like the characters. What being human means, why the police feel like they are doing god’s work when they kill innocents along with the psychos, what a family is, can we be selfish for others, and many more questions are discussed here, all while somebody gets gutted. S2 was much more like a filler than a normal season, but still, I cried, and the whole anime is awesome so watch it if you can. (If you get upset when humans are able to endure more than supernatural beings then it’s not your show, bc even though humans are supposed to be, you know, humans, they are still able to kill tens of ghouls with a fucking hole inside of them.)
Attack on Titan - got tired of waiting after s2... No mystery is worth more than a year of waiting lol
Black butler - I need to get around and watch the book of atlantis. Great story, Sebastian is everything and more, and the aesthetic is something I’ll never forget. The music fits perfectly, and the foods make me drool. It has the “big picture”, as well as small journeys where you can get to know your favourite characters which I appreciate. S2 was not something I enjoyed, but the book of circus was worth it as well as most ova’s.
Darker than black - THEY MUST CONTINUE IT BRING HEI BACK PLEASE PLEASE I CAN’T I JUST CAN’T - also s2′s opening makes me cry. Dolls and Contractors work together as a team, then alone, then again as a team... it was a wild ride. Awesome character development, great plot and world building. Sadly they cut their story and future at s2 for some reason... If I ever watch it again I watch Gaiden before Gemini tho - a lot less confusion and disappointment this way.
Bungou Stray Dogs - loving it with my whole heart can’t wait to watch it again because there is literally NO character I don’t love. It has pretty boys, crime, mystery, magical abilities and comedy alongside the surprisingly deep issues. The art style is otherworldly, everything is so PRETTY and CAPTURING ugh *-*. It also made me read lots of books again (especially Japanese literature which was new for me) ^^ (Who doesn’t ship Dazai and Chuuya... And Poe is a baby too)
Noragami - cute, very cute, I love it when the main character is powerful af yet has a silly, loving side. Also: you can learn a bit about gods and religion
Assassination Classroom - tears. all of them. tears. It’s not what I expected but still, the little assassins and the teacher’s relationship was perfect.
Another - i watched it for the dolls and the umbrella meme. Liked it? yes. Do I remember anything else tho? Not really
Parasyte - one of the first animes I’ve ever watched. Loved it. ^^ Migi was great, all the issues it brings up were thought provoking, and it has gore.
Hellsing - idk it had too many monologues and ideologies, didn’t finish it
Psycho-Pass - In short: cyberpunk future, systematic oppression, immigrants, killing with permission and other moral or societal issues, plus charismatic characters and gore. The watching order: S1, S2, Sinners of the system, S3, First inspector. Wonderful buildup, dynamic storytelling, great mystery elements, and of course the found family/teamwork will always be a favourite of mine. The writing is extra detailed, every character is 3D, their responses, beliefs and cultures are tied together perfectly, the chemistry between characters is relatable and although everybody seems to live by one goal only, it’s not as dull as one would think. It also has some great book recommendations, literature and philosophers play a big role, which is always a bonus. 10/10. I really hope we will get extra contents and S4 in the future.
Steins Gate - I can’t bring myself to watch the last 2 episodes of S1 lol. It starts slowly but it’s much better paced than I remembered. The anime heavily relies on the characters which are sadly very 2D: the haughty but loving, the cute but tragic, the clever weeb, the loving tsundere... and for some fucking reason every single girl loves the mad scientist who... doesn’t really show love or sometimes not even respect towards the others until the last half of the show, so I don’t particularly care about their fate, but I watch it bc I don’t want to leave it unfinished. Because people are so into it I thought maybe the story will be... flabbergasting, shocking or just a masterwork, but the whole time travelling thingy, all the rules, all the paralel worlds work very conveniently. There were some great twists that I loved, some that I saw coming and some that I didn’t, but the story itself isn’t the best and even the plottwists won’t help that.
Full metal alchemist - i watched many, many episodes. I liked it. But it lost me. Anyways, I looked up the story and it sounds interesting, lots of plot twists, great conspiracy theories etc. The main character was a bit... annoying. My main problem is that they were children cuz I can only get immersed in the adult characters’ stories...
Durarara!! - s1 was great I love gang and mystery stuff, BUT I stopped watching it bc I was only immersed in the adult characters’ stories...
The Ancient Magus' Bride - it’s a gory fairy tale, with two toxic but loveable characters who learn a lot, evolve a lot and become real companions. There is lots of touching, head pats and affection. <3 Seasond 2 is very much needed, I want to see more episodic journey elements like the cat kingdom episodes were, and perhaps cry just a little less. Pro tip: when you watched the first 12 eps you should watch the 3 episode ova and then the next 12 eps ;) Oh, and expect tears mostly from happiness
Devilman Crybaby - I was the crybaby. The ending is beautiful, the art style was great, it literally pulsed through my eyes sometimes. Awesome characters, weird storyline, sad ending.
Death Parade - another anime that made me cry :) Beautiful art style, immersive story, interesting take on the afterlife, moral issues. It had everything I needed,
Juni Taisen - It wasn’t the craziest or most cunning anime of all times, but I cared about the characters and I really wanted to know how it ends, so it was good i guess
Kekkai Sensen - i watched s1 and I didn’t care anymore...
BEASTARS - it was one hell of a ride. Interesting world, great conflict, highschoolers and gore... also I think there was a sudden rise in the numbers of furries while it aired. It’s art style however was too cgi-y, too smooth for me :/
Re: Zero - the main character is a little bitch i hated him but i stayed for the plot. I don’t really like love interests when one party is only loved because they look perfect... i really wish we got more seasons and explanations  s2 is on the horizon, but I doubt I’ll ever watch it
Updated it see in reblog
Also in conclusion, what do i need in an anime? 1) adults 2) superpowers 3) found family 4) a brooding, powerful af main character 5) action and mystery (plus gore) 6) chemistry between characters 7) side characters that matter 8) tissues
Any recs?

2020 is ending and i STILL haven't finished inuyasha and sergeant keroro, both of which i started in the first half of 2019 lol...in all honesty im 99% going to drop the latter bc altho the first few episodes were ok, im pretty tired of natsumi being s*xualised (does that make sense? every scene with her almost or actually taking her top off makes me go yeesh) inuyasha is also getting pretty boring but i was digging around people's comments and i guess i just need to push thru the filler episodes. other anime i've finished watching/ picked up recently:
- kimetsu no yaiba: set the bar pretty high...it's been a long time since i bothered to read a manga AND watch the anime. i actually wished it had gone on for longer. v likeable characters and even the ones who weren't had an interesting backstory. i am a bit of an anime snob i think but for liek stupid things like the animation, and i thought the animation for this was really good. i still think about it and im waiting for the infinity train movie to be released on blu ray or wtv
- jujutsu kaisen: i started this at around the same time as kny but i didn't like it as much. the story was interesting at first but i don't really like the characters they feel a little flat to me for some reason...i also tried picking up the manga but had to stop because i got really confused (the character gojo scares me...unpopular opinion but i don't like him) my fav character is that boy who can only speak in rice ball ingredients (forgot his name) and the talking panda
- fire force: another confusing one lol this one i liked a little better than jjk but the plot was too much for me!!! also i couldnt take one of the characters seriously bc their voice actor did zapp renfro's voice in kekkai sensen and he was a truly outrageous character
- bungou stray dogs s3: in general, this is a series i just couldn't get with...i enjoyed the beginning of the first season and then just stopped for no reason, decided to start again with season 2 and did not enjoy it, and likewise did not enjoy season 3. am i picking the wrong episodes to watch? bc i felt like there was too much talking, too much conspiracy, not enough action
- the millionaire detective balance: unlimited: it was on youtube, i stopped after one episode. i think i just hated how rich the main character was 🤷🏻‍♀️
- one punch man s2: it was ok. getting philosophical here but i guess my tastes hv changed bc i've changed lol but i LOVED the first season of opm when it first came out. i watched the first 5 episodes of s2, might continue it next week
- wotakoi: love is hard for an otaku: i saw a clip from the live action movie and some from the anime but watched neither in its entirety. instead, i read the manga which was cool. i think it's meant to be slice of life so its not too romance-focused. sorry can't think of what to say abt this bc im still thinking about kimetsu no yaiba
- the apothecary diaries: not an anime but my brother (of all ppl) recommended it to me...it was interesting i like mysteries i guess (explains why i still watch detective conan) very humorous and light-hearted for the most part. love the main character!!! a solid 4/5
i guess it's good that my current run with anime has been so disappointing...means i can refocus my energy into not getting laid off or f*red :-( it's 1:32am i really spent half an hour playing anime critic bc i couldn't fall asleep lol

The NineSpot: Anime I Really Liked with Sequels I Really Didn’t
Am not calling any of these the worst sequels of all time or likewise calling any of the originals the best ever by any stretch of anyone’s imagination, but these are sequels to anime series I fell in love with and didn’t really care at all for what came next. (am not considering OVAs or movies based on entire shows, btw, because they both almost always suck compared to entire seasons anime)
1. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka)
Tumblr media
The original DanMachi series was proof-positive that predictable and cliché can still yield a really great tale when the directing and production is top notch. Everything that should have made it lackluster couldn’t outweigh the feels and I always end up smiling earlobe to earlobe. The characters are beyond well crafted, and it is still crystalline-clear that this project was someone’s pride and joy. I adore the original series. The Sword Oratorio spinoff was -meh- to me, it leaned too much on the original for hooks as it tried to fill in Ais’ backstory and ended up being more about Lefiya anyways (plus they blatantly stole the marquee anthem from Last of the Mohicans, which turns me off a thousand times every time it plays now). Oratorio provided some levity, but did nothing at all to advance the story. Then we got DanMachi 2, which started out with mediocre writing but a killer arc and the backbone surfaced for some amazing story depth to amass, but all we got in the end was the horribly lame Ishtar arc where a depressed fox girl doesn’t want to be a prostitute and Bell feels bad about it. I’ve felt exactly nothing for these characters since the original.
2. Overlord
Tumblr media
Take a peruse through my blog and you will see that I have never campaigned for a second season of anything more than I did Overlord. I LOVE the first season, it is an absolute favorite of mine, and being that it is yet another Madhouse anime I honestly never expected more but always clamored for it because Overlord was absolutely deserving. When we finally got S2, it threw me for a loop because the original cast barely appears in the first four episodes, but then I found my feet and eventually got myself into the new episodes. Ironically, that is about all that this second season had to offer to me. The lizardmen arc is fantastic, definitely watch it, but when that ends? Here’s about all you need to know: Sebas has a softer side, Climb is a little bitch. There you go, onto season 3 (which is fantastic, btw).
3. Full Metal Panic
Tumblr media
FMP is one of my favorite old-school anime ever, because it balances great humor, great characters, and - despite a shload of filler in the second half - a great all-around story. It is SUCH a gem. Second Raid was a tad bumpy due to a new studio, but still fantastic, and Fumoffu was the comedic break that an already goofball of an anime conjured up and it totally fit as long as no one took it too seriously. Then, some 15yrs later out of nowhere we get Invisible Victory, which Xebec used to completely rewrite everything, and not in a good way. From go, Kyouka - an important supporting character from the outset - is killed and totally glossed over like it wasn’t significant asf, and I got pissed. Then all the already-established characters took on totally new personalities of grave seriousness, which was never the brand. When you take previously established characters who have always been hopeful, energetic, and buoyant to a fault, always looking forward and up - and suddenly make all of them overtly dramatic, hardened, and inordinately austere across the board, it totally cheapens the original and to an extent that superflous doesen't even begin to describe. Massive franchise fail, Xebec - dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow. Easily the sequel I have hated the most. As in, ever.
4. Sword Art Online
Tumblr media
Look, I am the last person you need to tell how much bad this series has divulged into. I was so all-in on the concept, the characters, the drama, and the love of the original series. Do you think it’s ironic that I’ve been doing this almost 5yrs now and haven’t changed my URL? I’ve always said that if the first Matrix movie were left alone and that was it - Neo giving that threat and then flying off into the credits and we have to make up the reality that may or may not have transpired after that -  that it would be in the top 10 movies ever made. That’s how I see the first arc of SAO. It was THAT good, I have somehow watched it more than anything ever made. I originally considered the whole second half of the first season to be filler and am always turned off at the molestation that it celebrates, but said it was ‘for the story’. Then the Sterben shiz happened and I said ‘yes, it’s the EXACT SAME STORY  but it’s going somewhere’, and then it did, to somewhere absolutely worse. I made it about halfway through Alicization and I up and quit altogether. SAO is such a shit franchise - the only thing that has gotten worse than the animation is the writing, the characters that used to be great are so incredibly shallow and annoying now, and I have made more fun of something I used to love than anyone. I am the first to admit I am a huge heel for most of what I have said in support of it in the past. But omg those first 14 episodes. I can’t label the initial tale of SAO as anything but amazing. And if those 14 episodes were the only episodes we ever got, I would easily call it one of the best anime ever made.
5. Date a Live
Tumblr media
I almost have to laugh that I am about to mention Date a Live after that. DAL was never going to be confused with a good anime, but it was fun. It was silly and rampant and insane, but you still fell in love with the characters because they were totally and completely worth falling in love with. Then DAL2 happened, and I hate this season a little too much. It was released too soon, it was done too poorly, it was just every kind of measurable cringe. The only thing worse than the writing was the lackadaisical and pedestrian voice acting, and that’s saying a lot considering how intern-worthy the animation of the second season was. DAL3 redeems itself plenty, the characters become likeable again, and there is an actual story and it isn’t awful and harkens back to seeds planted that were never developed, and at least part of the budget was dedicated to better artwork. But wow - DAL2 is just pure hot garbage.
6. A Certain Magical Index (Toaru Majutsu no Index)
Tumblr media
The first two seasons of both Raildex series have casts I'd pretty much take on an entire den of Wendol with a soup spoon to protect. They're just that good, so I was beyond excited when a third Index season was announced. I've never read the source material, so maybe some were ready for it more than I was, but Index III started off TOTALLY different - the blood and brutality is turned up past 10, everybody up and turned into an a-hole about everything, and it all felt very foreign to me compared to everything before it. But, I stayed in because I was still invested in the characters and wanted to see where it all went. It eventually reminded me a lot of the good 'ol days of anime where it wasn't always happy, where sometimes even the good guys made you feel bad, and where there was a fairly complex storyline that you really had to pay attention to if you wanted to keep up. The difference is, a lot of those shows were good. Index III just... was. I got nothing out of choking my way through the entire season, and really didn't care about anything but finishing it long before I ever did. I still feel a bit betrayed that this was the anime that fans waited 8 years for.
7. Eureka 7 Ao
Tumblr media
No need for any exposé. Screencap says it all. How you follow up one of the most epic mecha anime ever with this fail of a series is beyond me. Great music, absolutely abysmal writing.
8. Infinite Stratos
Tumblr media
Was Infinite Stratos good? Original, yes. Fun, yes, Characters that made you care about them, yes. But good? BWAHAHAHA NO, it absolutely was not good. IS is one of a handful of titles I chuckle about saying I enjoyed, because it's quite bad. Which is how you know IS2 is total dregs, because it's so very bad that it makes the first season look kinda decent. There was a story worth developing in place in the second season, they just chose to go full potato on the harem and fanservice elements instead, and decided that the writing didn't really matter. The ensuing episodes are for the most part just too much stupid to watch.
9. Blood Blockade Battlefront (Kekkai Sensen)
Tumblr media
A bit of an odd duck, Kekkai Sensen introduced us to a world of enigmatic and strange bedfellows traversing a totally bonkers landscape of a world that somehow all manages to come together as a collective yaaas in the end. There is a unity that develops between them which task by wacky task binds these otherwise incongruent personalities together towards a common goal, and interpersonal gold eventually develops between them. The strengths of the individual are blended like watercolor to reinforce the weaknesses of the individual within the resulting eccentric genus. A cliché but nonetheless robust red string of fate ties all the loose ends together and a fantastic actuality of cognizance materializes between the ragtag cast and the forces that amass against them, and the first season ends with a feel-good that no one could have ever seen coming. It really is a great ride. Then the second season happens, and the glue that holds it all together feathers and ‘stuff just happens’. I was disappointed that all that great writing and plot that intertwines in the first season is totally absent in the second, and in the end it becomes just tales. I wanted so much more and got barfly stories regaled secondhand.

Some Hellsing crossovers
I’ve been sitting on these for years that I love a lot and thought I’d throw out there involving Kekkai Sensen, Fate/, and Trinity Blood.
Under the cut because it’s lengthy.
Hellsing x Kekkai Sensen
62 years after Millennium’s final assault, Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing dies, heiress, and the Hellsing line comes to a close. With the threat of the Alterworld and Hellsalem’s Lot, it was established between the late Hellsing and Klaus von Reinherz that the No Life King and his progeny are to be given to the leader of Libra to use in efforts against Blood Breeds from the Alterworld.
Other notes:
Blitz T. Abrams aka. ‘Lucky’ had an internship with Hellsing in his younger years, aiding in his rise to become the world’s foremost vampire hunter. Seras was his teacher (she was the only one who would tolerate the literal hell that would fly at her on a daily basis).
Gilbert was alive when Millennium’s attack decimated England and grew up through the fallout. Possibility that his regenerative abilities were based off Iscariot’s Regenerator science/used them as a blueprint.
Seras is reminded of Walter when she watches Gilbert
Leo can’t look at Alucard because he almost breaks his eyes. He can look at Seras and sees her arm similarly to how he can see the auras of blood breeds.
Chain doesn’t like sharing ‘space’ with Alucard and goes to lengths to avoid his extended presence.
K.K. and Seras have been mistaken as relatives by some people.
Chain and The Captain both have pink tinged eyes. Werewolf trait?
Bearing in mind my knowledge on Kekkai Sensen comes from watching the anime seasons, I made my own connections between the two and the playground of the two true nosferatu in Hellsalem’s Lot came to be. Also somehow Klaus is TALLER that Alucard’s est. height??? (6′7 vs 6′3)
Fate/hell sings Hellsing x Fate/
Simple indulgence of Alucard being summoned as a Gunner (replacing the Berserker class in the war). He never came back after Schrodinger’s presence frazzled his powers and Seras has been waiting, wondering if these ‘Holy Grail Wars’ she’s caught wind of might be a way to summon him back from whatever stasis he’s in.
Other Notes:
Alucard vs Gilgamesh (Gil: whY. WON’T. YOU. DIE? Alucard: *winks*)
Anderson summoned as a Saber (I was reassigning Servants and Masters how I like it and Kirei ended up with Saber and I just NOPE’D.)
Seras: "I've met some pretty fake priests in my time, but you take the cake, Kotomine."
Black Keys and Bayonets. It sounds like a band and I dig it.
Rin gets Lancer and Shirou gets Archer (I don’t know the logistics behind THAT being possible but, you know, shenanigans)
Illyasviel summons ‘Gunner’ and oh god it’s just like young Integra. Alucard is thriving, though.
Side note: I did actually make a Servant Form for Alucard! It was very confusing to get a grip on all the skills and trying to balance him out for a Servant, but I’m happy with it. My knowledge of the exact whats and whys of UBW is extremely spotty, but that was the route I was vibing off. I just haven’t gotten around to watching it all yet.
Trinity Blood is Hellsing’s future Hellsing x Trinity Blood (aka my favourite)
Anderson and the 9th Crusade are recalled to Rome, and he is imprisoned for killing Maxwell. Alucard is interred in his coffin and falls into extensive slumber as he tries to wrestle with Schrodinger poisoning his way of existing. Seras continues to fight Millennium’s stragglers for years. When Integra passes, she and Alucard are moved into Royal custody, and when her mission is complete, they are entombed deep beneath the palace. Seras sits and waits for him to recover as the world above moves into the Trinity Blood history and Armageddon unfurls.
Esther, in her duties as Queen, is told about their hidden secret assets. She is appalled and at once sets about finding the chamber and assessing the situation with them. After a thousand years, Seras is brought up to the surface, while Alucard - still comatose - remains deep in the vault that the methuselah ghetto was built over.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Holy Affairs is dealing with the relic that is the Paladin. After his cryostasis chamber broke, he woke in a defunct, abandoned Iscariot corner of the Vatican and his waking triggered some alarms. He joins as a member of the AX after he’s filled in on the changes. Same cause, different coat.
Other Notes:
Once Anderson wakes, Francesco is pissed that, when they were dealing with old departments, he palmed off the care and responsibility of the 13th Division’s remnants to Caterina.
Cain, Abel, Lilith and Seth are Crusniks, but they only withstood the bacteria because the DNA they were test-tube’d from were blood samples from Alucard and Seras. Cain and Abel are Seras’ and Lilith and Seth are Alucard’s.
Anderson is in Albion with the AX for diplomatic reasons, and that’s when Seras catches his scent. She think’s she’s hallucinating. She’s never been so happy to see the lanky bastard. He’s too flabbergasted by the changes in the world to try murdering her for long. It’s nice to have someone else who remembers the past is just as bewildered by everything.
They both come to find that they just don’t make vampires/vampire hunters like they used to! Cue the sparring sessions, spurred on by Caterina. She encourages them not to ‘get rusty’, knowing full well that Rozenkruez is still around, even with Abel hunting down Cain, and these suddenly unearthed relics might just be the secret weapons they need to finally quashing the chaotic group once and for all.
When Alucard does manage to pull himself together, dragged out of his coma after he senses the changes in the environment, he’s an absolute mess. He can’t keep the form of a man as he slowly oozes his way up to the palace as a miasma of dark power, full of eyes and shadows. (Seras: Master, have a blood bag, you’re not you when you’re hungry.)
Fun times trying to figure out the Vampire/Crusnik family tree. Anderson wants to cry. Vampires can’t have chILDREN what IS GOING ON???
Seras kicks Cain’s butt for being a bad son after he tries to kidnap her, seeking the answers to defy his degrading state.
Alucard visits Lilith’s tomb and pays his respects, regretting the fact he never got to meet her.
He cherishes Seth and finds himself 100% living vicariously as an insufferable parent, doting on her even though she’s told him often enough that she’s an EMPRESS, DAD STOP TELLING BAD JOKES AT THE PALACE AND SCARING THE NOBLES OF THE COURT.
Astharosche can’t deal with Alucard. He gives her the heebie-jeebies, for he has nothing else to give.
Seras, Alucard and Anderson end up representing the triumvirate of Albion, the Vatican and the Empire in their own right.
Abel meets Alucard at Lilith’s tomb, and Alucard decides to mess with him by saying he has his mother’s eyes.
Seras and Alucard being spooked by Caterina and quietly agreeing she’s the Vatican’s Integra, and wholeheartedly supporting her.
Seras and Anderson having an exhibition match after Francseco and the Inquisitorial Dept. go around Anderson is just an old relic.
This one is also based on what I learned from the anime and after some relatively minor digging into Trinity Blood because there’s a LOT and while I adore the setting of TB to bits, it does do my head in at times. But this one’s my baby there’s so much I went into that I’ve left out here (the outline has almost 15k words hehehe...). What can I say but I am enthralled by the idea of the three immortals outliving everyone and just being Too Old For This Shit and putting the newbies in their place.

When you realize once again some of your favorite seiyuu legends are already 50+ years old...
1. Keiji Fujiwara (Oct 5, 1964 - 55 years old)
Tumblr media
Yes, he has a lot other roles under his belt besides Ardyn, and heck, I’m still salty toward FF15, and to be honest, he’s not the greatest villain in my opinion (based only on the base game, as I haven’t played any of the DLCs, including Episode Ardyn), but Ardyn is one of his recent roles and I just want to shout out to his awesome portrayal of the character. It was another reason why I so wanted to play this game in Japanese.
Keiji Fujiwara is that seiyuu you’d often hear everywhere. Like, I would watch some anime and he would appear in maybe 3 out of 5 of them. My current favorite is Maes Hughes, because I just finished re-watching FMA Brotherhood, and his death killed me again!! His other roles that I remember are Hattori Zenzou from Gintama, Ladd Russo from Baccano, Ali Al-Saachez from Gundam 00, Higuchi from Tatami Galaxy, Shiro Fujimoto from Ao no Exorcist, Hannes from Attack on Titan, Brody from Kekkai Sensen, and lots more that I haven’t seen or might have forgotten. But, let’s not forget that he also voiced Axel and Lea in Kingdom Hearts! He is also the voice of Reno in the FF7 Compilation and the upcoming Remake (in which he sounds much, much younger but still awesome)! And also Izana Kunagiri in FF Type-0 (I haven’t played the game haha, but I saw him on the trailers).
2. Akira Ishida (Nov 2, 1967 - 52 years old)
Tumblr media
I debated between putting Katsura or Natori there (two of my favorite Ishida roles), and ended up deciding to go with Zura, because to me, nothing really beats Ishida-san’s role as him. This...idiotic of a man that acts as the leader of an anti-government group. He raps. He cross-dresses. All the antics he gets up to. And just his overall stupidity! Like, seriously! His interactions with Gintoki and Kagura and the things he got up to to hide from the Shinsengumi xD (but he’s cool when he fights--his one and only redeeming quality lol). Some of his other roles that I know are Natori Shuuichi from Natsume Yuujinchou, Keiji Mogami from Mob Psycho 100, Kaworu Nagisa from Neon Genesis Evangelion, Myoe/Inari from Kyousougiga, Hideo Shimada from Parasyte, Femto from Kekkai Sensen, Fyodor Dostoyevsky from Bungou Stray Dogs, Touji Souya from Sangatsu no Lion, and others I have not seen.
Anyway, I learned that among the seiyuu, Ishida Akira-san is considered to be a “cool person”. In that one Gintama interview I saw, even the main casts + Suzuken regarded him as the “cool Ishida-san”. And then in a radio clip somewhere else, someone asked Sugita whether he had seen Ishida laugh, to which Sugita said that “the cool Ishida-san” laughed when he was recording an episode of Gintama that they had to redo the take (lol). On top of that, I have heard him voice an old man, an old woman, and then that one clip I heard of him voice all gender of all ages! There’s only one thing I have to say to that right now:
ALL HAIL ISHIDA AKIRA-SAMA!!!
3. Shinichiro Miki (Mar 18, 1968 - 51 years old)
Tumblr media
I wasn’t much of a fan of this guy...not until I hear him as Roy, Monogatari’s Deishuu Kaiki, and Sangatsu no Lion’s Kai Shimada--all of which I have only seen in the last 3 years. I first heard him in Escaflowne, and after that, I only hear him as ikemen guys. Nothing wrong with that, but his roles never really captivated me, until I saw those three.
I rarely hear him in the anime I watch, though when I do, they are often anime that I end up loving. Sometimes I mistake him with Junichi Suwabe, especially whenever I hear Kaiki speak in Monogatari. And then, I came across him in Gintama as Sakamoto...and I never hear that voice in any other anime again lololol. Also, he is currently the voice of Sir Nighteye in BnHA Season 4, and with Miyake Kenta as All Might, it just came to me that Roy and Scar are in BnHA as hero-sidekicks/friends xD
