She was actually supposed to play Sailor Saturn in Le Mouvement Final, but at that time she was already appearing in a musical about Death Note. That's why Sailor Saturn was recast. In the Death Note musical, former Tuxedo Mask actor Kenji Urai played the protagonist Light Yagami. So we have a musical where actors from both musical eras appear together. This happened again in 2023 when Karin starred in the "Kageki shojo" musical in which Mizuki Sano, the first Tuxedo Mask, also starred. She has appeared in many musicals/plays like Wind Breaker oder Ny Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!  Often actors from Sera Myu are there too, especially Momoyo Koyama (Sailor Mercury).

(Yes I made this acc today and I'm spam posting to fill up the blog💀)
So abt that mha/bnha oc fanfic thing-
Oc's name is Misaki Keiko (first name is Keiko last is Misaki) pronouns are she/they, 17 year/old. Quirk: Size manipulation; can change the size of anything/one she touches (effect lasts for about 10-30 minutes) only downside, she starts getting bad headaches and gets extremely tired if she uses it too much.
She likes sleeping (despite being an insomniac), listening to music, and drawing. Personality-wise, she's pretty reserved and introverted, she wants to be a pro to not only gain confidence in herself, but to protect people she cares about (lost her father when she was young, and her mother was abusive, she moved to the dorms as soon as she could)
Talking about class, she is in class 2a, a second-year. Also I'm making her a year older than 1a. I might add her as a teacher aide or smth for aizawa but idk yet, ilk figure it out.
Also I'd like to add, I was gonna put her in 1a then remembered she was in 2a then I was gonna make the story set when aizawa/present mic/shirakumo was attending ua and they'd be friends, but I decided to take the hardwr route, and make a whole fresh class, so I have 17 ocs to make🤦‍♂️
Wish me luck 🤞😔

All of us walked up the driveway, Denki, myself, Dad and Pops going to Sota's smaller birthday party. Hitoshi opted to stay home for the day, not particularly looking to come to a one year olds birthday party and I couldn't really blame him.
"Why were we invited?" Dad asked tiredly as we got to the door.
"Shikadai said something about wanting to be apart of my life and he thought this would be a good way to get to know everyone better and be on good terms on both ends. I wasn't expecting you guys to actually take him up on the offer." I said and Dad sighed. "Correction, I wasn't expecting Pops to take you both up on that offer." I said and knocked on the door. Azuna opened it quickly and brought me into a hug, immediately making my skin crawl.
"It's so nice to see all of you again. Where's your brother?" She asked me, ushering all of us into her parents house.
"He was feeling a little under the weather and figured he'd stay at the dorms for the night." I bullshitted, but she quickly believed it.
"Well I hope he feels better. Aizawa, Yamada, it's nice to see you both again. And Kaminari, I'm glad you could make it." She rambled on almost nervously.
"Thank you for inviting us." Pops said and she smiled warmly, leading us back to the living room.
"Yuto! Can you bring Sota out here? I'm sure he'll be happy to see Onryo." She yelled back somewhere. Shikadai rounded the corner first and gave me a hug. I awkwardly hugged him back, but he seemed enthused that I even did that much.
"Hey, kid. Long time no see." He said jokingly and I let out a tense laugh.
"Yeah, it's been ages." I mumbled. "Hi Ren, hi Keiko, it's nice to see you both again."
"Oh, hello dear. Kaminari, you look lovely today."
"Thank you, Keiko. You look radiant as ever." He said with a warm smile, helping her up out of her seat. She gave him the grandma pat on the arm and came over to me.
"You better hold on tight to that one, he's a keeper." She told me and I laughed under my breath.
"I'll definitely hold onto him."
"Azuna, dear, would you mind helping me in the kitchen?" She asked her daughter and she happily followed.
"Please, have a seat, no need to stand." Shikadai said, somewhat rushed. Denki took a seat on the couch, Pops sat on the other end while Dad stood next to him. I was going to sit until I saw Yuto come in with Sota, the one year old quickly made grabby hands towards me. His Dad set him down and he came waddle running towards me and I let him fake tackle me to the floor. His never ending giggles seemed worth it though.
"Happy birthday, Sota." I said and he giggled, clapping as I spoke. "Well, he seems to know what that means."
"He's been hearing it all day, I'd hope he's grasped what it means by now." Ren said jokingly.
"Yeah, and uh, I'm sorry, for how I handled things at his birthday party. I should've gone about it in a better way." I said awkwardly, Yuto shot me a dirty look but everyone else seemed to just wave it off.
"She's going to rehab soon." Yuto said dryly and I slowly nodded.
"I'm glad she's getting help." I said softly and he scoffed.
"I think given the high emotions, you handled it as well as you could. You handled it better than most of us would've in my opinion." Shikadai said and I gave him a small smile.
"So, Aizawa, Yamada, you're both teachers. Are your students giving you any grief this year?" Ren chimed in, redirecting the conversation skillfully while I played with Sota, the baby babbling and pterodactyl screaming while he gave me a multitude of high fives.
"My students tend to. Our son likes to give us the most scares, however." Dad said and I awkwardly smiled.
"Love you."
"I'm an english teacher, so my main difficulty is just getting everyone to understand what I'm saying."
"Is that why Onryo and his brother are fluent in english?" Ren asked and Pops nodded.
"Onryo wanted to learn english at a young age. One day, him and I were having some extra lessons and Hitoshi asked if he could start learning, too. They both picked it up so fast, we were really proud of them."
"Kaminari, how's your english?" Shikadai asked him and he froze up.
"I'm probably the worst in the class. Onryo's really helped me a lot though, so my grade has gone up."
"That's great. I can't speak a lick of english, so you're already doing better than me. I never had an ear for languages, but I certainly had a hand for them." Shikadai said, Kaminari and Pops laughing at his dad joke. "I'm glad someone here thinks I'm funny."
"Shikadai, would you mind getting the door?" Ren asked, most of us looked at him confused, but he agreed. "I don't think I should have some of the best ears here, that seems a little concerning." Ren said sarcastically, making me laugh.
"Mom, Dad, you remember Onryo and his boyfriend, Kaminari. These are Onryo's parents, Aizawa Shouta and Yamada Hizashi. Aizawa, Yamada, these are my parents, Raiden and Azami." Dad and Pops got up, Pops more made Dad get up with him, but when Pops went to bow, Raiden waved his hand.
"None of that formal crap. We're too old to be worried about that. It's great to finally meet you both." Pops stared at him, shell shocked and Dad gave him a pointed look that was subtle enough for everyone else to miss. "You look like you've seen a ghost." Raiden said and Pops fixed his face.
"Sorry, I just wasn't prepared for any major resemblances." Pops said bashfully. "We've always had the running joke that he was my carbon copy, and he looked a lot like his late Uncle. Hitoshi has always resembled his Dad, and was always his carbon copy. It's just, a bit of a shock to see so much resemblance."
"Genetics will do that. All three of us got the same quirk and matching hearing aids to go with it. Was a hero myself back in my day." He said proudly and I looked at him in disbelief. "The people weren't a fan of the fact that I could make some ears bleed, so I was always lower ranking until I got on disability. I suffered from a TBI, so I took the settlement and made a house for my beautiful wife." He said and gave Azami a kiss on the cheek. "Check this out." He said and showed Dad and Pops the pictures he showed Denki and I. "Unfortunately, it looks like I gave those two my height. My bio father was over six feet tall."
"What was your hero name?" Denki asked.
"I was very original. I was the sound hero, Sound Wave." He said proudly and Azami patted his arm.
"There there, dear. Don't throw your back out now." Dad and I laughed a little at the interaction.
"Do you want a very exalting moment?" I asked and everyone looked at me curiously. I grabbed my phone and called Izuku with a video call, after three rings he answered. "Hey, Zuku, I have a random question. You got a minute?"
"I was just finishing up my homework, what's up?"
Can you hear him?
Raiden gave me a thumbs up and I turned back to my phone.
"Have you ever heard of the pro hero Sound Wave?" I asked and he paused for a minute.
"Yeah, he wasn't a really high ranking hero but he had a quirk pretty much identical to yours, I figured that was where you got the name of your quirk for. He was active probably, shoot, forty years ago? His most notable fight was in Nagano at Lake Suwa, he made a tidal wave out of the lake with his sound waves that completely disoriented the villains and gave him the big edge he needed to win." I looked at Raiden and he looked near tears, jaw slacked and a hand on his heart. "He ended up getting really overshadowed with all the heroes rising because he would've been in the second generation to do so and All Might coming in overshadowed a lot of smaller heroes coming into the job outside of the top twenty maybe. I don't know what happened but I know he got injured and he was out of commission after only a decade max. I know a lot of people painted him in a bad light because he also made people's ears bleed. Why do you ask?"
"Cause I found out, he's my bio grandpa. Say 'hi', I think you just made his day." I said and walked over and got him in frame. He waved happily to my best friend, a bright smile on his face.
"Oh my gosh! It's really you! You- You were one of the first few heroes I researched when I started researching the origin of heroes and when they started becoming popular, you had such a unique fighting style! It's amazing to be able to meet you!" He rambled, making Raiden smile wider.
"Azami, Shikadai, do you hear this? This little green haired boy knows who I am! I'm Kodoku Raiden, it's a pleasure to meet a friend of Onryo's."
"I'm Midoriya Izuku, sir!"
"Loosen up, son. I won't burst your ear drums, I'll leave that to your friend here."
"Right!"
"He's a bit of a fanboy, he won't loosen up for quite some time." I said and Izuku froze up.
"Well then, I'll let you get back to your homework. Thank you. Hopefully I'll be able to meet you one of these days." Izuku said his goodbyes and I hung up the phone. "It's been decades since someone said they knew who I was in my glory days."
"I figured if anyone would know, it'd be him. He's basically a search engine when it comes to heroes. Can you guess who his favorite is?" I asked sarcastically.
"All Might?" Shikadai asked sarcastically with an eye roll. Pops and I broke out laughing, Sota found it hilarious and started laughing too. "Didn't realize that was hilarious." He said after a moment and I tried to catch my breath.
"It's not- Oh my gosh- I need to stop laughing! Where's Hitoshi when I need him!" I said while laughing harder. "Nobody in our family likes All Might! I almost got him fired!" I managed to explain, Shikadai soon joining in on the laughter. Azuna and Keiko came back in, confused as to why half of us were laughing.
"Serves the bastard right. He's full of himself." Raiden said, only fueling our laughter.
"Raiden, be nice." Azami said lightly. "Even though he's a crap wagon, we should still be nice."
"I'd say those are fairly nice words, I could say plenty worse about him." Dad said, making everyone let out some form of laughter.
"Should I ask what we walked in on?" Azuna asked.
"They're all bonding over their hatred of All Might." Denki explained.
"Ass Might." I coughed out, not being too discreet. "Wow, did someone hear something?"
"No, I don't believe I did." Raiden said, taking out a hearing aid and scratching his head.
"So, how did you almost get him fired?" Ren asked.
"You never really did go into that, all I know is that he was suspended from teaching and was made an aid for a while." Denki said.
I picked up Sota and sat on the couch between Denki and my Pops, Sota contently sat on my lap as I explained everything as to why I didn't care for him. Only sparing a few of the gruesome details of the final exam. I had a feeling nobody wanted to hear about how I broke quite a few bones that day.
"Why does Midoriya like him so much? Isn't that like, against bro code?" Denki asked and I sunk into the couch.
"He started idolizing All Might since before he could properly talk. We met in junior high. Also there's the fact that All Might's his main mentor outside of my Dad." I said and he hummed.
"That makes a lot more sense." He mumbled.
"Did all of you really sit out here and just... bond over disliking the previous number one hero?" Azuna asked and we all nodded.
"And made Raiden's day. My best friend knew about him being a hero." I said and she hummed.
"I wasn't involved in that." Yuto said and that's when I realized that he had been watching me like a hawk.
"Excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom." I said softly and set Sota on the ground near his toys.
I took a moment in the bathroom after I was done with my business, needing a minute to wipe the feeling of someone staring off of my body. I splashed my face with some cold water and took a deep breath. I understood fully well why Yuto wasn't enthralled with me. I got his sister in law sent to rehab. Let alone how I went about it. I was pulled out of my thoughts when I saw the door crack open. Denki had one hand on the handle and the other over his eyes.
"Babe? You okay in here? Can I open my eyes?" He asked.
"You can open your eyes, I'm decent." I told him, leaning against the sink counter top.
"I knew you wouldn't really hear me knock unless I banged on the door and I didn't want to freak you out. You okay?" He asked softly, one of his hands reaching out to hold one of mine.
"Yeah, just, I needed a minute away from being stared down. I can tell Yuto isn't too happy with me and I don't blame him, I just hope he realizes that if he crosses a line, he'll have to deal with my parents. I more wish that he would just talk to me about what happened and ask me what he wants instead of just glaring at me." I explained and he nodded along, seeming to understand what I meant.
"That makes sense. Maybe you could pull him aside and ask him what his deal is." He suggested, his voice still quiet.
"That's a pretty good idea." I mumbled and he rubbed his thumb back and forth across the back of my hand. I took a deep breath and let my head fall to his shoulder, my eyes falling shut. We stood there in silence for a moment, my social battery recharging ever so slightly.
"Ready to get back out there?" He finally asked and I nodded, standing up straight. He pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead and we walked out, most of them were talking amongst themselves, seemingly getting along.
Everything okay? Dad asked me and I nodded.
Yeah. He sent me a cautious look but dropped it.
"I think it's great that all of you know sign language." Keiko said, breaking any tension. "When Shikadai came into the family, Ren and I tried our hardest to learn, but we just couldn't wrap our brains around it. Azuna seemed to take our genes on it, as well."
"It was one of our largest concerns when we had kids, that they wouldn't be able to learn sign language. But Hitoshi and Onryo both knew sign language when we adopted them, so that took away our fears completely." Pops told her and Keiko smiled softly.
"When Shiroka started dating Shikadai, he told us about his hearing already starting to fade. Yuto and Shikadai learned together actually, such a sweet friendship, they really motivated each other." She explained.
"I tried learning but I was horrible. Honey, what signs did I mix up the one day?" Azuna asked, turning to her husband.
"I believe you accidentally said 'shit you' instead of 'I love you'." He said and we all giggled a bit.
"Yep, so that was when I gave up. Even after when I would try, I always mixed up some signs and it ended horribly. Even when I tried to learn English, it was just atrocious." She said.
"We just have ADHD wordplay, sign language edition." Denki said, making Pops and I laugh.
"Shit, I didn't mean to give you my ADHD." Shikadai mumbled, making me laugh more.
"What was your best ADHD wordplay moment?" Pops asked him and Shikadai gestured to his parents, both of them already excited about this.
"One time, he couldn't remember the word for thirsty." Azami started, a wicked grin on her face. "Shikadai, dear, tell them what you called it."
"Water hungry." He mumbled. "It's been over twenty years and I still haven't lived that down." He admitted.
"I have a few of those. Inside sun control."
"The light switch?" I nodded and he cracked a smile.
"Yep, my brother still hasn't let me live it down." I told him and he laughed a bit.
"Good one."
"Dinner's ready, Azuna, Yuto, would you both mind helping me set the table?" Keiko asked gently, slowly standing up and heading to the kitchen.
We all eventually sat down, said our thanks and started eating.
"So, you both are teachers, what's that like?" Shikadai asked, signing as he spoke.
"Torture." Dad lamented and I gave him a bright smile.
"It's eventful some days, just like any job I'd assume. I like being able to see my family while I'm at work, it's an added bonus." Pops said, the two of us nodding along.
"I'm a homeroom teacher for one of the hero courses, so I only work with twenty one students a day, but some of them like to be problem children." Dad grumbled and I smiled at him again.
"In my defense, Izuku would be a lot worse if I left him to his own doing's. At least I reign him in a bit." I pointed out and he nodded.
"I work with all classes and all grades for the most part since I'm an english teacher."
"I was a teacher for many years, I taught elementary school and some of those kids were little heathens." Keiko said with a small huff.
"That sounds debilitating." Dad said and she sighed.
"It was, there were days where I wanted to just up and quit. But I stuck to my guns." She said and Dad nodded, the glint in his eye showing the bit of respect he had gained for her. "I retired about ten years ago, though."
"I don't think I could ever be a teacher." I mumbled, the profession seeming more intimidating and daunting than hero work.
"Me neither." Denki said and I nodded.
"Why do you think I went with hero work?" Raiden asked sarcastically.
"So, Shikadai, what do you do for work?" Pops asked, diverting the topic of interest off of them.
"I work in IT. Computers always seemed interesting to me and the added bonus is I can work from home if I'd like."
"That sounds like a blessing." Dad commented.
"It can be, it's definitely infuriating at times, especially when it comes to dealing with people who know nothing about technology." Shikadai sighed. "However, it is nice being able to make my own schedule. The only time I don't get to, is if I have to be in the office for a meeting."
"Sho, you're not switching to IT. You wouldn't have the patience." Pops told him, resting a hand on his and Dad sighed.
"Fine." He grumbled.
"Yuto, what do you do?" Pops asked, Yuto looked at him uninterested and let out a sigh. Dad shot him a look, clearly perturbed at how he had been acting today.
"Yuto, just tell them about your job. Relax." Azuna softly chided, patting his hand with her own. He scoffed and stood up rather abruptly.
"I'm not doing this. I'm not gonna sit here and play pretend to make you happy. I need a smoke. Excuse me." He practically stormed out and the atmosphere completely shifted.
"I'm sorry about him, I don't know what's gotten into him today." She mumbled and I slowly stood up.
"I uh, I think I'm gonna go talk to him. At least try and make amends after last week." I awkwardly said and Azuna stood up, gave me a brief hug and sat back down. I slowly and cautiously walked in the direction he did until I found the door to the back porch. "Yuto? Can I talk to you?" I asked gently, he let out a loud sigh but gestured to one of the chairs as he took a drag of his cigar. I stood on the other side of him, opposite of where the wind was blowing the smoke and he rolled his eyes.
"What? Scared of a little cigar?"
"No, just don't wanna set off my asthma if I can help it." He slowly nodded. "I uh, noticed that you haven't exactly been happy today, especially with me."
"Yeah, well why the fuck would I be?" He snapped and I sucked in a breath through my teeth.
"I want to make amends, or, at the very least, be on decent terms with one another." He rolled his eyes and took another drag.
"It's too late for that, kid. You don't seem to be able to understand the damage that you caused." He said through gritted teeth.
"I'm sorry. For how I went about it. I- I let my emotions get the better of me. I should've pulled you and your brother to the side and voiced my concerns. I could have and should have gone about it differently, and I'm sorry that I didn't." I told him honestly, the guilt starting to ease ever so slightly.
"Yeah. You shouldn't have put that target on her back. You shouldn't have even mentioned it to anyone. You don't seem to realize how much you screwed up her life with a single accusation." My eyebrows furrowed and I tried to process what he said.
"Are you saying I should have just let her take my medication?" I asked, baffled at what he seemed to be insinuating. He shrugged and took another drag of his cigar. "Wow." I scoffed and he glared at me.
"She's not like your mother, and that's how you keep trying to paint her to be." My jaw set in place, his tone alone was venomous.
"Shiroka is not my mother. I have made that very clear. Unless Azuna told you what happened, then you don't know the half of what she's done to me."
"That's my problem. You want to make amends so bad, be on decent terms and all this? Fine. You want to be a part of this family, then admit to who your family really is. You have a mother and a father, just like everyone else and just like you're supposed to. Blood is thicker than water." He spat, the cigar now in the ash tray, his arms crossed over his chest as he stared at me.
"The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. If you're going to try and lecture me, I advise you don't cut out the important details of what you're saying. I have two Dad's. I have a brother. I have a myriad of aunts and uncles and relatives. I didn't even know I had biological family outside of Shiroka until two months ago. It's been a major change and adjustment. Shiroka lost her right to ever be called my mother. She tortured me. She broke half of the bones in my hand. She stalked me. I'm still trying to recover from what happened. I'm not saying that Suzu is the same as Shiroka, but she has a problem, it just happens to be one of the same ones." I said and I saw something flash through his eyes and puzzle pieces fell in place. "You knew. Maybe not all along, but you knew about it for a while."
"I thought I could help her. She was doing better. She just had a slip up." He said, the wall he put up starting to crumble.
"She got better at hiding it. There's only so much you can do to help a person who doesn't want help. Once she gets sober, maybe she'll have a clearer state of mind and will be more committed to staying clean. That's not on you, though." I told him and he shook his head.
"She doesn't need a rehab facility." He said and I looked at him sadly.
"It could help her a lot. There's a difference between the help you want and the help you need. She might want your help and her husbands help because it's easier, it's family, she has more control. But a controlled facility where she's made to face the reality, it might be what she needs."
"You wouldn't get it, you're just a kid." He mumbled, leaning against the railing. I moved next to him, standing the same way.
"I tried to kill myself when I was twelve. I was done. I was found and rushed to the hospital before anything could happen. Even after that, there were times where I still wanted to end it all. To give up. Some of those thoughts were serious. I didn't want help. But I needed it. I hated myself for a long time because I still had thoughts and I still wanted to hurt myself even after I saw the looks on my parents faces when I woke up in the hospital." I told him solemnly. "It wasn't until the building collapsed on me that I had my major wake up call. I thought I was going to die, and my heart stopped twice on the table. At that point, I wasn't actively trying or planning anything, but it made me realize that I wanted to live. So yeah, I'm just a kid, but I get it."
"You had a building collapse on you?"
"It was more an old yakuza planted bombs and tried to kill me but failed, but yeah." He huffed out a breath and stood up a little straighter.
"I just wanna see her be okay." He told me and I nodded.
"I get it. She's not like Shiroka, but she needs the help that she never got." He licked his lips and took a deep breath.
"She used to be really good friends with her and Azuna." He told me.
"I kinda already put together that she got Shiroka started on drugs." I told him and he looked at me confused. "I can read people. I can also tell when most people are lying. I freaked out your wife with it, too."
"Right, the whole uh, curious or cross checking thing." He said and I nodded.
"Yeah." I slowly stood up and got ready to go back inside. "I'm gonna head back in. Take your time to collect yourself."
"Can you ask Azuna to come out here?" He asked.
"Yeah, I'll ask her for you." I said and grabbed the door handle. "And just so you know, if you ever try and disrespect my family like that again, you'll regret it." I told him and walked back inside. I took a deep breath before walking back to the kitchen. Everyone looked at me, all with different emotions on their faces. "Uh, Azuna, he was wondering if you could go out there for a few minutes." I said and she nodded. I outreached my hands for Sota and she let out a deep breath, clearly relaxed at that aspect. I sat him on one of my legs and alternated between taking a bite of food and giving him a bite of his purée blend stuff. It looked like mushed carrots.
"You seem to be a natural with kids." Keiko said, pulling my attention away from my fork that I was grabbing.
"I've had a few people tell me that. So, yeah, I- I guess I am." I managed to get out and she smiled at me sweetly.
"It's a good trait to have." She told me and I returned the smile.
"Just wait, with the color of his purée, next thing you know he'll be trying to eat our hair." Shikadai remarked and I couldn't help but laugh. Sota was laughing too and I noticed Pops take a picture.
"Keiko's right, you've always been a natural with kids. You're the main person to get Kota to smile." Pops said and Denki nodded in agreement.
"Who's Kota?" Raiden asked.
"I think I got this." Denki said and I couldn't stop my smile as he started thinking about it. "Mandalay and the rest of the Wild, Wild, Pussycata are honorary relatives..?" He paused and turned to me, I nodded and he gained some more confidence. "Kota is.. Mandalay's cousins son, his parents.. passed in the line of duty, so he's Onryo's honorary nephew."
"That's a lot." Raiden mumbled and I nodded. "So why are you the only one to really get this kid to smile?"
"As you can imagine, Kota has had it rough and grief is still new for him. Onryo more managed to connect with him on a level that not many of us have been able to despite our efforts." Dad explained as gently as he could.
"Well, it's good that he has Onryo in his life." Kazumi said softly.
"We're all thankful for that, I believe." Dad confirmed.
We all eventually moved out to the living room and it didn't take long for Sota to fall asleep on me. His breathing steadied out and I felt his body weight drop. Denki's eyes were focused on me, a faint blush stained on his face and I looked at him confused but he only blushed more.
"It looks like he wanted to take a nap." Azuna said as she stood in the doorway to the living room. "Do you mind putting him in his pack and play? I'd take him off of you, but I don't want to chance waking him up. He's been fighting nap time this whole week." I nodded along to what she said and slowly stood up, an arm under his thighs and a hand cradling the back of his head.
I followed her to his play room and carefully laid him down. I waited, holding my breath in hopes that he would stay asleep and I let out a breath in victory when he only stretched but otherwise, enjoyed his nap.
"Thank you. That takes a weight off of me, he's been a terror at nap time lately. Looks to be he's falling back into a rhythm though."
"Sleep is a mysterious thing that we all need." I said and she nodded.
"While I have you here, I got some of those pictures you asked for." She whispered and I looked at her excited. She handed me an envelope and I gingerly opened it, almost hesitantly.
I let out a stuttered breath as I saw pictures I never thought could even exist. I flipped through the sonogram photos, all appropriately marked for how far along the pregnancy was until I saw pictures from the day I was born. Emotions I could never have prepared myself for hit me like a brick.
There was a picture of me screaming and crying, a dusting of topaz hair sitting on my otherwise bald head. A picture of me sound asleep in one of the cribs in the hospital with my baby blanket swaddled around me. There were a few others thrown in there and I didn't bother trying to stop the tear from falling down my face.
"Thank you." I whispered as I pulled Azuna into a hug, clearly shocking her at the action but she didn't object.
"You're welcome, and if you're getting emotional, I'm sure your parents are going to be just as choked up, even your stone cold Dad." She said and I laughed a little. "We better get back out there. So if you want these to be a surprise, I suggest you hide them." I nodded and slipped them in my hoodie pocket, placing my phone on top of them to hide edges of papers.
Christmas needs to come sooner.

Mortem ad Wrens Chapter 27: What We Can Become
Summary:
tw: torture, abuse, sibling abuse, gore, blood, deadname, old pronouns, flashback, body horror, GRAPHIC PHYSICAL ABUSE, knife, blood, gore, kidnapping, coercion/compliant kidnaping
Notes:
[Violence Start] and [Violence End] tags are in play for this one again. There's a flashback summary after the latter if you need to skip it ‘text’ JSL Text thoughts
[VIOLENCE START]
“How the hell did she get that close!”
Akira landed heavily a few meters into the room and drew a shuddering breath as they glared back at Keiko, one of their older sisters. “Fuck you that’s how,” they hissed. “You’ll fucking pay for what you did to-” Akira bit back a scream as Keiko speared their leg with her foot.
“If she’s holding out this long, the quirk must be a powerful one,” Eichi, one of their older brothers, added. “We can’t just kill her.”
Keiko pulled Akira up by their hair while putting her weight on their leg. “Come now, bold one, tell us who helped you,” she snarled.
Akira just stared defiantly at her, mouth pressed tightly. Keiko slammed their head into the ground twice before putting her weight on their leg and twisting their torso backwards at an odd angle. Akira let out a choked gasp as their spine crackled and they felt a bone in their leg snap. Still, they glared up at their siblings without breathing a word.
The abuse continued for what felt like an eternity before the door quietly opened, and Keiko promptly dropped Akira. The world was too blurry to try and catch themself, so Akira’s nose smashed into the ground with a crunch.
“Tch, amateurs,” a syrupy voice drifted from the doorway. “If you can’t force the answer out of a high potential, you call me.” Akira was rolled over, and they let out a choked gasp at the bone now sticking out of their leg as it sluggishly bled. Nori loomed over them, spindly fingers dangerously close to their face. “Once more, Daitan, or you’ll never speak again. Who helped you?”
Akira spat in their face, blood mixing with saliva as the woman simply pulled out a handkerchief and wiped it off. Now, that was uncalled for. I suppose you’ll be awake for the process then.”
They did scream as Nori’s fingers carefully extended up their nose, joints brushing against the sides of their canal and arching down their throat. Akira tried not to breathe as the entire digits sharpened into cold metal and began to saw at their vocal chords. Just as they thought they would pass out, a white-hot pain latticed through their leg, ripping a gasp out of them and causing Nori’s fingers to slip slightly.
[VIOLENCE END]
(flashback summary: Akira’s vocal chords were removed after they tried to speak out against their family and refused to tell who helped them)
Akira woke up with a silent scream, kicking off their blankets as they jolted up. Rolling off the thin mattress, they snatched a blanket before it could land on Koji.
Noting they’d almost been asleep long enough for them to normally wake up, Akira stared at their legs for a long moment before they could push past the dizziness and move to the bathroom. By the time they finished brushing their hair, Akira’s hands only slightly shook while they made tea. They let their mind drift, barely registering that their mug was empty after a while.
An hour later, Aizawa walked into the room. He looked at them, blinked, and went to make coffee. “Nightmare?” Akira nodded. “Want to talk about it?”
Akira chuckled at the irony and sluggishly signed, ‘Can’t. Mute.’
Aizawa huffed, “I’m here if you want to sign about it then.”
‘Thanks,’ Akira signed after a moment. ‘Maybe later.’
Akira warped four times before sitting next to Sato to eat in the shade, double-checking their burn rate against their notebook before focusing on the food. Today’s training was geared towards having multiple clones active without losing weight. Maybe tomorrow I’ll be able to start working on motor control.
Hitoshi was going through vocal exercises with Koji while working on voice imitation. His quick adjustments to pitch range were improving, but they still struggled with tone and variance.
Akira looked down at their phone as the tight burning all over their body was escalating to a 7. Still an hour from when they could take their next dose, Akira dispelled their last clone with a forceful step and stiffly pulled a couple cold compresses out of their bag onto their legs. They directed their capture weapon to wrap around their arms and torso like compression sleeves as they turned a dial on their braces to extend compression wraps around their legs.
“Mori, are you okay?” Sato asked as he paused eating.
Akira gave a so-so gesture while gulping from their water bottle. ‘I’ll live. Just need a break.’
Yaoyorozu grumbled something about no one else needing a break, so Akira leaned forward slightly to flip her off. ‘Try saying that next time you’re at a 7.’ They pulled more ice packs from their pack to place on their arms and neck, which provided a small measure of relief.
Their meds an hour later kept the pain from getting worse, but Akira still felt like they were moving through molasses. A few hours later, they woke with a start to Aizawa standing over them concerned. ‘Sorry, I think the heat got to me.’
“I’ll take them back to camp,” Aizawa said as Ragdoll approached. “They can join the evening intensive if they have the energy.”
Akira wobbled to their feet, steadying themself on the table before grabbing their crutches. They were vaguely aware of Aizawa talking but were mostly focused on making their legs move, each step sending sharp spikes of pain up their legs. A few agonizing minutes later, Akira maneuvered through the door and lowered themself onto the couch to take off their braces.
Akira looked up at Aizawa as they shifted into a lounging position to elevate their legs. ‘What were you saying about the schedule? I couldn’t listen and move at the same time.’
“If you’re feeling up to it, you can join the intensive tonight with the same strategy and goal of today. Regardless, tomorrow you can be with the others until lunch then I’ll bring you, Shoji, and Tokage from 1-B back here since your quirk training can be done in or outside. Staying inside should help with your health, correct?”
Akira nodded. ‘I was only asleep for a few minutes, so I should try to get a couple hours before dinner.’ Aizawa seemed confused for a moment before nodding and sitting in one of the chairs. They wondered if some of that was lost in their pained haze as they drifted off, quickly giving into their exhaustion now that they were horizontal.
Akira woke up to a soft humming and pushed themself up to see Aizawa crouched a short distance from the couch. “The class is almost back. I thought you might like to get ready before they’re here.”
Akira nodded, slipping on their braces and crutches as they took stock of their spoons. ‘I can use my clones to help with dinner. I don’t think I have the spoons to do make dinner, eat, and go to the intensive.’
“Alright, but don’t strain yourself to the point you won’t have the spoons to train tomorrow.”
Akira settled by the bowls of vegetables, wrapping their capture weapon around their arms as they started to chop. Ida lifted the classes’ morale as they trudged into camp to start dividing into groups, Kaibara and Monoma from 1-B joining Akira in chopping.
‘Do you know JSL?’ Akira asked as they sat.
Kaibara interpreted then said, “Yes, my parents are deaf. I can interpret for you.”
“Wonderful! What brought you back so early?” Monoma asked as they resumed chopping.
‘My health, I started the day with only a few spoons and- oh, spoons are a way to visualize energy,’ Akira explained at Kaibara’s confusion. ‘People use the analogy when they have a chronic condition, and different tasks take different amounts of spoons. When we run out of spoons, we crash hard.’
“I can see how your quirk causing so much pain would classify as chronic,” Monoma shuddered.
Akira paused but shrugged, not devoting the energy to correct him. ‘I’m going to use my clones to get some training in. I don’t have the energy to keep a conversation and them up at once.’
With a nod from the others, Akira warped twice, directing the clones as they grabbed a protein drink from their pack. Monoma and Kaibara kept up a steady, if reserved flow of conversation, and Akira started picking up the concerning undertones of inferiority they heard in Bakugo and Midoriya. Kami, do I need to investigate another one?
“Is this how much you always have to eat?” Monoma asked. Mad Banquet had quickly agreed to mingle with 1-B after a brief exchange with Akira.
‘No, but I do eat a lot more than average to keep up with my quirk,’ Akira signed with Fumikage interpreting. ‘Actively using it takes more than the passive drain you felt at the sports festival.’
Monoma shuddered, “I thought Yaoyorozu’s quirk would have a similar drawback from what I’ve seen, but there was no burning when I copied it earlier today.”
“Hm?” Yaoyorozu looked over her shoulder at her name. “Of course there isn’t. Creation doesn’t have any passive effects.”
“Neither does Silent Night,” Fumikage added. “It’s just the drawback that’s passive, right?”
Akira nodded, ‘I haven’t noticed any passive mutations, but it’s possible they’ll show up as I train more.’
“I don’t know,” Hitoshi teased. “You did sneak past Aizawa that one time.”
‘It was more than once!’ Akira rebutted as Mad Banquet gasped at them.
“What, does he have a Thinker mutation?” Monoma looked between them confused.
“Mori,” Aizawa said from behind them. Wincing, they tilted their head to look up at their teacher. “When did this happen?”
Catching his small, amused smirk, Akira signed, ‘Which time? When you were in a pile of alley cats? When you were covered in glitter? When you-’ Akira froze as Hitoshi burst out laughing and Aizawa’s expression turned exasperated.
Their teacher muttered “problem children” under his breath as he resumed walking between tables.
“Please tell me you have pictures,” Hitoshi wheezed. “Were you at least the one who did those?”
Akira shook their head with a small smile. ‘I didn’t have a phone at the time. I may have been behind the second glitter incident after I saw how effective a distraction it was, though. Oh, to your question, Copy Cat, Eraser doesn’t have Thinker attributes. He’s just that observant as an underground hero.’
Akira slept fitfully that night, waking up every couple hours from nightmares that mixed memories with possible futures. At five, they woke with a start to Dark Shadow nudging their arm. The rest of the class was already outside or in the common area, so Akira quickly moved through their low-spoon routine and stuffed extra snacks in their backpack to conserve energy and cover their bases in case the date wasn’t a coincidence.
Akira spent the morning focusing on directing their four clones while eating, running through fighting forms they’d picked up from Blue Fang, U.A., and some hero analysis. They raised an eyebrow at Pixie-Bob’s announcement of a test of courage that night, glancing at Aizawa before continuing their training. Seems a bit counterintuitive to security, but fine. As their last set dispelled while they took meds, Akira caught Aizawa’s eyes and gathered their pack as he collected Shoji and Tokage.
The afternoon had Akira inside eating while directing their clones about the forest. Shoji and Tokage were trying to find them while Akira tried to keep their movements separate. The shadows in their mind grew more distinct and the heartbeats less unnerving as the day progressed, and Akira silently lamented training camp would likely end with the attack.
Akira’s phone buzzed, so they paused briefly. Only one person would… shit. Akira read over the message from Dabi twice.
Wildfire: Wildfire has shared his location with status Danger. Click here to acknowledge. Click here to call first responders to his location.
Capture Katsuki Bakugo, Akira Mori
Kill Izuku Midoriya
Waiting for rest of vanguard to arrive
Mortis: location confirmed
See you on the other side
Mortis briefly considered letting Taishiro know of their potential kidnapping before dismissing the idea. Surely, it’ll be fine since we know they’re coming. No point worrying him. Mortis looked up as Aizawa entered the cabin, resignation in their eyes as they showed the messages. ‘They’ll probably attack tonight so we’re exhausted.’
Aizawa sighed, leaning against the wall. “We knew this this was a possibility. I’ll speak with the others before the courage test, keep training for now.”
Aizawa directed Kirishima, Sato, Mina, and Kaminari to remedial lessons with him and Vlad as the rest of 1-A and 1-B headed to the scare challenge. In the clearing, Akira noticed Pixie-Bob making puppet motions and let themself relax marginally at the earth beast patrols she had. As the fourth group, Sero and Aoyama, left, Akira started glancing between Pixie-Bob and Tiger.
‘Reaper, are you okay?’ Koji signed.
‘Something’s not right,’ Akira settled for. A few minutes later, after Uraraka and Tsu left, Pixie-Bob’s tail stopped twitching and she gave a signal to Mandalay.
The latter frowned, but a few moments after tapping a quick pattern on her radio, her eyes widened. “We’re being attacked by villains. Everyone who can move, get back to camp immediately! If you come across the enemy, you have permission to engage!” Her quirk echoed in everyone’s mind.
“What- what is this?!” A pink glow enveloped Pixie-Bob and threw her backwards.
Shit, they slipped through. Mortis warped to the top of a nearby tree and wrapped one of their crutches around the thin trunk, confirming Dabi’s flames and Mustard’s pink mist filling the forest as those in the clearing started noticing the smell of smoke. Looking back down, Mortis winced at Pixie-Bob’s bleeding face underneath Magne and Spinner.
Mortis warped back, stepping into their clone before signing, ‘Blue forest fire. Pink mist covering half the forest. Unknown locations of other villains.’ As they signed, they felt a strange grounding sensation as they started to glow white and looked over their shoulder to see Magne glowing. What the… oh! Right, polarity based on gender.
Mandalay called for Ingenium to start bringing the group back to camp while Deku took off to find Kota. The Pussycats placed themselves protectively in front of the retreating group, but Mortis only kept a clone running with the group for a minute while Spinner spouted Stain-adjacent ideology.
“You fake heroes who only care about yourselves are targets to be purged!” Spinner charged forward with his comically large set of blades.
‘You do realize these are rescue heroes, right?’ Mortis shook their head as they pulled back opposite Mandalay. They warped forward and their clone darted to the side as Mandalay dodged the gecko’s attacks. Just as the Pussycat leader was sent hurtling towards Magne, Tiger shoved her aside, and Mortis seized the opportunity to have their capture weapon support Pixie-Bob’s head and start dragging her away from the fight.
Mortis got Pixie-Bob to the edge of the clearing just as Deku burst through to land a hit on Spinner’s weapon. What the fuck? Mortis nearly dropped Pixie-Bob at the boy’s shattered arm. Now that they were out of the main combat zone, Mortis dispelled their clone and picked up their pace, not worrying about what the villains saw anymore. As the sounds of fighting got more distant, they picked up on the soft crunching of a familiar gate as Eraserhead ran into view.
“Status?”
‘Pixie-Bob head injury. Deku heavily injured. Magne and Spinner fighting Mandalay and Tiger. Ragdoll not responding. Mustard around courage test area. Other villains unknown.’
“Midoriya brought Kota to camp and ran off before I could stop him. Take-”
“We have discovered two of the villains’ targets,” Mandalay announced. “They are students – Bakugo and Mori. They should try to avoid fighting and acting independently.”
“Mandalay and-” Eraserhead huffed and paused, presumably as he received a message.
“Umbra Mortis, we’re heading your way. Stay put with Pixie-Bob, and we’ll find you.” Mortis heard from Mandalay.
“-and Tiger are headed this way. Twice and Dabi are likely around this area. Get behind cover and stay quiet. Keep an eye out for Mr. Compress especially.”
Mortis reluctantly nodded, gently pulling Pixie-Bob under a bush before warping up a tree. They heard a vaguely familiar gait not long after Eraserhead left and jumped down as Ragdoll rounded the bend. ‘Are you alright? What happened?’ Mortis hopped down and scanned the rescue hero for injuries as they approached.
“Oh, you’re bleeding! Let me help,” a slightly off Ragdoll voice said. Mortis backed up a step, tensing as they took in the person’s slight sway and broad grin. “Come on, don’t be shy. I don’t bite.”
The familiar gait connected just as a large needle flew at Mortis. They warped a breath before it would’ve hit them and shied to the side. ‘Toga?’
“You remember me!” Toga squealed, form melting as she turned back into the teen serial killer Mortis had met. She pouted, “It’s no fun ruining the game, though. Why don’t I pretty you up before we take you?”
Mortis warped twice as the girl’s syringes on tubes twisted and contorted, yellow eyes keeping up with the small puffs of dirt kicked up by their appearance. Even as the clones were dispelled left and right, Mortis kept themself within a few meters of Pixie-Bob, torn between protecting the unconscious hero and keeping suspicion off the hiding spot.
A slight rustle from above narrowly warned them in time to warp away from Mr. Compress landing, straight into a needle. With a sharp hiss, Mortis warped again, the large needle snapping from the carried momentum. Glaring at the two of them, Mortis activated their capture weapon and fell into a defensive stance. Just keep stalling, Eraser said they’d be here soon.
“Come now, we’re just claiming what we won. You have quite the powerful quirk, and if you go willingly, you can join us instead of becoming a base for a Nomu,” Mr. Compress said.
Mortis shot their capture weapon out in response, wrapping it quickly around the man’s arm while Toga tried to close distance. They jumped onto the bottom branch of a tree, letting their braces give the extra boost as Mr. Compress snapped towards the trunk. Instead of the impact, however, Mortis tried to warp as they saw the villain jettisoning toward them. Just as they did so, however, Mr. Compress brushed their foot and the world distorted and spun until they were contorted in a marble. A small, tight, spherical space capable of hearing the outside world through a garbled filter but unable to see.
Trying not to hyperventilate, Mortis took shuddering, deep breaths and focused on what they could hear. They couldn’t quite make out words, but… there! Mortis could just make out Deku shouting and warped with the goal of just on the other side of the marble. A muffled shout of surprise came from Mr. Compress, so they rapidly warped over and over, only vaguely aware of their clones in their panic as shadows filled their mindscape.
With a clear snap, Mortis landed roughly on their crutches amidst a dozen clones, keenly aware of the strain on their body as their heartbeats stuttered and fat rapidly burned. Looking around as they surged their clones forward, Mortis gasped at most of the Vanguard squad in a clearing fighting Siren, Tentacole, and Deku. Shit. They activated their capture weapon, glaring around even as they felt their clones dissipate with quick blows and Mr. Compress lept into the air. Mortis tried to dodge but stumbled, turning it into a jump of their own with their braces. Landing near Hitoshi, who was facing off with Twice, they directed their last five clones to swarm the villain as he landed.
“Umbra Mortis! Are you alright?” Siren called out. “He has Dynamight and Tsukuyomi.”
Mortis shook their head but pushed through the pained haze to quickly wrap their capture weapon around their torso and arms even as their last five clones were not dispelled but compressed. Mortis tried to dispel them but couldn’t get the momentum. Darting forward, they snapped their remaining length of capture weapon out as a whip, trying to crack the villain’s mask.
Even as Tentacole called for a retreat, holding up two marbles, Mortis followed their gut and rushed at Mr. Compress and Dabi. Out of the corner of their eye, they spotted a Nomu enter the clearing as Kurogiri’s voice sounded behind them and warp gates opened around the remaining villains. Wheezing, Mortis pulled up short as they spotted the two marbles the magician lightly squeezed with his teeth.
“Now, now, you don’t know what would release or kill people in these marbles, do you?” Mr. Compress whispered just loud enough for them to hear. “Come along quietly or I might just kill your precious classmates.”
Mortis tried to take a step forward but would’ve fallen if not for the braces as their limbs gave out. Glaring up at the villain, Mortis nodded and let him compress them. They shuddered, curling even further into themself as the already tiny marble felt like it was shrinking and pulling tight around them. Mortis could just barely make out Deku screaming for Dynamight before they passed out.
Notes:
gosh the hyperphantasia sucked ass on this one. (not so) Fun fact: what happens in the nightmare is the third worst experience I’ve ever simulated. No, I did not forget the sibling I introduced in the previous flashback; they have a lot of siblings.

I Literally Hate The Media So Much (Her Shadows Ch. 7)
Pairings: Kirishima x OC
Warnings: Panic attack, implications of abuse, Bakugo being nice lol
I did not mean to take as large of a break as I did but that happened XD Hope whoever reads this enjoys!
Tumblr media
I woke up with sore everything. I hadn't had to fight full out like that for a while and it didn't help that Bakugo was extremely strong. I pulled myself out of bed, trying to not disturb the cat that rested in my arms. I stood up and stretched, hearing a satisfying crack from my back. I rubbed my eyes, trying to wake myself up. I glanced over at my clock that told me it was 5:45 am. I groaned as I walked over to my dresser and pulled out a tank top and sweatpants. I got changed and pulled my hair back into a ponytail, pinning my bangs back as well. I grabbed my phone and headphones as I walked out to the kitchen to scrounge for food. Dad sat at the table, drinking his coffee, and looking over his lesson plans.
"Morning, Kiki," he said as he made a note in his planner.
"Morning, Dad," I responded, stifling a yawn.
"How'd you sleep?" he asked.
"Really well," I said as I pulled a granola bar out of the cupboard. "No nightmares, so that's a plus."
Dad hummed in agreement as I tore open the granola bar wrapper and began to eat it. I leaned against the counter as I ate the granola bar and Yuzuki jumped onto the counter and sniffed at my food, hoping to get a bite of it. I pushed his head away and finished my granola bar. I put food in both of the cats’ bowls and put water in the water dishes. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and checked the time. I would have to get going pretty quickly to make sure I was on time. I put my phone back in my pocket and went to my room to put my running shoes on. I tied the laces and stood back up, stretching a bit more. I walked back out to the front of the house.
“Dad, I’m heading out!” I called.
“Alright, be safe! I’ll go grocery shopping while you two are on your run!”
I walked out of the house and waited by the tree between mine and Makoto’s houses. He eventually walked out of his house and came over to me. He had his orange shirt on, which I assumed contributed to his good mood.
“Good morning, Koko!” he said, far too cheerfully for this early.
“Hey, Mako,” I said, swiping through my music to find a good song.
“How are you on this fine morning?” he asked as he put an earbud in.
“Tired and sore,” I responded with a laugh. “Bakugo did a number on me yesterday.”
Makoto hummed in agreement as he looked for a song on his phone. We both found music to listen to and put both earbuds in.
“Short or long route today?” Makoto asked.
“Let’s do the long route,” I said. “It’s earlier than usual so we have time. Besides, I don’t think we’ll be doing anything too strenuous after yesterday’s training.”
“You’re probably right,” Makoto responded. “Long route it is!”
The two of us jogged down the street and went on the long route we had set. It went through the park and ended at the beach. We didn’t live very far from the beach, so a run to it was relatively short but still long enough to exert us. When we reached the beach, we stopped to rest for a few minutes. The sun rose over the ocean and the light reflected off the waves. I sat down in the sand as Makoto handed me his water bottle for me to take a sip out of. I gratefully accepted it and took a few drinks before handing it back to him. He sat down next to me and we took in the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. It was so peaceful, but when the sun rose all the way, we knew we had to head back home. We jogged back home and separated to our own houses to get ready. Dad’s car wasn’t in the driveway, so I assumed that he was still out getting groceries. I opened the front door and the cats innocently looked up at me from where they were standing on the kitchen table. I narrowed my eyes at the knocked over cup on the table with water spilling onto the floor.
“I can’t leave you two alone, can I?” I sighed as I cleaned up the mess.
Once their mess had been cleaned up, I went and took my shower and got ready for school. Being impatient for my hair to dry all the way, I used my hairdryer so that I could finish getting ready. I heard Dad get home at some point and after I put my hair up into a half ponytail and made sure my bangs looked alright I went out to the kitchen to help him put groceries away.
“How was your run?” Dad asked as we put the groceries away.
“It was good,” I responded, putting the cereal away. “We went to the beach and sat for a few minutes to watch the sunrise.”
“That sounds nice,” he said.
We continued with a few sentences here and there, but the majority of the morning was silent. It wasn’t long until we were walking out the door to go to school. Makoto met us in the driveway and we got in the car and drove to school. Dad apparently had to drop us off a block away because he had heard from Hizashi that there were still a bunch of reporters in front of the school. They had been there for the past two days and they were only getting nosier the longer they were denied any interviews. The longer they were there, the more cautious we had to be with mine and Mako’s relations to Dad. None of us wanted the reporters to figure that out, so we agreed to be dropped off a block away with only minimal complaining. Makoto and I grabbed our bags and got out of the car. We started walking down the sidewalk to get to school.
“Why can’t the reporters just leave us alone?” I groaned as we turned the corner and saw all of the reporters.
“I apologize for my fame,” Makoto said sarcastically.
I laughed but he had a point. Since his grandmother had a fortune and was the head of Uneri Co., Makoto was also on the media’s radar. It wasn’t a secret that he stood to inherit the fortune of his grandmother and he had eyes on him. Reporters staring at him like birds of prey waiting for a moment of weakness. Being his best friend meant speculations about the two of us in public. On multiple occasions, the media has mistaken us for a couple. We’ve tried telling them that we’re not, but they still publish that story and we gave up on trying to tell them otherwise.
“Yeah,” I responded with just as much sarcasm. “It’s a real pain in the ass to be your best friend.”
Makoto snorted as we kept walking. The reporters saw us and they immediately started to swarm us.
“You know,” Makoto said. “We’re on school grounds right now.”
I looked up at him and saw the sly smile on his face. I let out a laugh as I nodded and gripped the strap on my bag a little tighter as reporters got closer.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” he responded. “You can’t shadow travel with me, but I can carry you right over them.”
“I like the way you think, Mako,” I said with a smile.
Immediately, Makoto picked me up bridal style and used his quirk to step on the gravitational plates and have us be just above the reporters. We avoided all of their questions and, as soon as we were beyond the gates, Makoto stepped down from his plates and onto solid ground. He set me down on the ground and I adjusted my skirt to make sure nothing was showing. Once I made sure everything was fine, I looked up at Makoto with a smile and we walked into school together. We walked straight to the teacher’s lounge and, when we got inside, Hizashi and Dad were there to greet us.
“You survived the wolves,” Dad said with a smirk.
“Mako used his quirk to just carry us right over their heads,” I responded with a chuckle.
“Yeah,” Makoto said. “Because we were technically already on UA’s grounds even though it was the sidewalk. So it was perfectly legal for me to use it.”
“Look at you all grown up and smart, little man!!” Hizashi yelled as he slung an arm over Makoto’s shoulders.
“Thanks, Hizashi,” Makoto said with a soft smile.
The four of us continued talking before class started and eventually Nemuri, or Midnight, came and joined us. At some point, Dad had to go take care of the reporters and the reporters tried to enter the campus, setting off the security system. Dad came back to the teacher’s lounge with a satisfied smile on his face. He always enjoyed it when reporters got denied when they’re being annoyingly persistent. Makoto and I left the teacher’s lounge first to go to the classroom. Most everyone was in there already, talking to their new friends.
“Hey, it’s Keiko and Saeki!” Kirishima said, waving us over to them.
I glanced at Makoto and shrugged before walking over to him, Sero, Ashido, and Kaminari. I set my stuff down at my desk before standing up properly to talk to them.
“Hey, guys!” Makoto said with a wide grin.
I gave a little wave and a tiny smile. Kirishima and Ashido seemed very happy that I even acknowledged them, which took me by surprise. The six of us talked, well I listened while they all talked until it came time for us to all sit down. Dad stood at the front of the class and started talking when we had all got situated in our seats.
“Decent work on yesterday’s combat training, guys,” he said from the podium. “I saw the video feeds and went over each of your teams’ results.” He paused for a second. “Bakugo.” The blond in question looked up at Dad and Midoriya seemed surprised. “You’re talented, so don’t sulk like a child about your losses, okay?”
“Yeah, whatever,” Bakugo grumbled.
“And, Midoriya,” Dad said, singling him out. “I see that the only way you won the match was by messing up your arm again.” There was a pause as Midoriya sunk a little lower in his seat. “Work harder,” Dad told him firmly. “And don’t give me the excuse that you don’t have control over your quirk. That line’s already getting old. You can’t keep breaking your body while training here, but your quirk will be really useful if you can get a handle on it.” From where I was sitting, I saw Midoriya’s head lift up. “So show a little urgency, huh?”
“Right!” Midoriya said confidently.
“Let’s get down to business,” Dad said, addressing everyone. “Our first task will decide your future.” I could almost feel everyone’s nerves as they probably thought it was another quirk test. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous about that too. “You all need to pick a class representative.” The relief everyone felt when we heard it was just a normal school thing was palpable.
Immediately everyone started yelling about how much they wanted to be the class rep. Of course, if you’re the rep that means more agencies are more likely to notice you and want you to join them so it was only natural that everyone was excited. I wasn’t though. There was far too much yelling for my taste. Everyone finally shut up when Iida started talking.
“Silence, everyone! Please!” He yelled. Everyone was quiet as they all looked back at Iida. “The class representative’s duty is to lead others.” Duh. “That’s not something just anyone can do.” He had a point. “You must first have the trust of every student in the classroom.” There goes my shot of being class rep, not that I really cared. “Therefore, the most logical way to fill this position is democratically. We will hold an election to choose our leader.” Not a bad idea.
“It’s pretty obvious you want us to vote for you,” everyone said in unison.
That did seem like what he was trying to do, but I think that he honestly wanted the best for our class, so I didn’t dwell on that too much.
“Is this really the best idea,” Kaminari asked.
“We’ve only known each other a few days,” Asui started. “How do we know who we can trust?”
She had a point as well.
“Besides, everyone will just vote for themselves,” Kirishima stated.
That did seem like the likely scenario.
“You’re right,” I said from my seat. Everyone’s heads snapped toward me, shocked that I spoke up. Honestly, I was a little surprised too. “Most people will vote for themselves. That just means that whoever gets the most votes is truly fit to be class rep if people put their pride aside to vote for them.”
Iida nodded at my statement and started talking again, taking everyone’s attention off of me.
“It’s the best way, right?” Iida asked Dad, who zipped up his sleeping bag so that he could take a nap.
“Do what you want,” Dad told us. “Just decide before my nap’s over.”
He fell onto his side to fall asleep and I knew he’d be out for the rest of the class.
“Thank you for your trust!” Iida said.
About 20 minutes later everyone had cast their votes for class rep and the results were on the board. Unsurprisingly, I got zero votes. I had voted for Midoriya. He was smart and I thought he would be the best for the job. Makoto had one vote, but I doubted that it was from him. At the top of the board, Midoriya and Yaoyorozu had the highest number of votes. Midoriya had four and Yaoyorozu had two.
“How did I get four votes?!” Midoriya asked out loud.
“Okay, you idiots!” Bakugo exclaimed, standing up from his seat. “Who voted for him?!”
“What?” Sero asked. “Did you honestly think anyone was gonna vote for you?”
Bakugo did not like that response and started yelling at him. I groaned and put my head in my arms, looking to follow my dad’s lead and take a nap. Once Bakugo was calmed down, Dad woke up, which was my cue to sit up. Midoriya and Yaoyorozu stood at the front of the class. Midoriya was shaking in his boots while Yaoyorozu looked as calm as ever.
“Alright,” Dad started. “The class rep is Midoriya. Deputy is Yaoyorozu.”
“R-really?” Midoriya asked, still shaking. “It’s not a mistake?”
“How did this happen?” Yaoyorozu asked herself.
I put my head back in my arms as people started chattering about the results. I guess I dozed off because Makoto started shaking my shoulder lightly. I sat up and yawned, glaring at Makoto for disturbing me.
“It’s time for lunch,” he said, pointing his thumb toward the door.
Immediately, I stood up and was out the door after grabbing my wallet. Lunch Rush’s food was definitely something I didn’t mind waking up for. The cafeteria was crowded, which was irritating, but soon enough Makoto and I were able to get our food. Lunch Rush insisted that our food was free again, saying that he liked us more than the other students. This caused a few glares tossed in our direction from other students in line, but Makoto and I laughed it off. We got our food and sat down at a table, away from everyone.
“So,” Makoto started, digging into his food. “Spill. Who did you vote for?”
I swallowed the food that was in my mouth before responding.
“I voted for Midoriya,” I said. “I thought he’d do a good job, but after seeing how nervous he was, I’m not so sure.” Makoto hummed in agreement as he took another bite of his food. “Who did you vote for?”
“I voted for Yaoyorozu,” he said. “She’s smart and I think she’ll do a good job.”
“I’m inclined to agree with you,” I responded. “She really knows what she’s doing.”
The two of us stopped talking to enjoy our food more. It was only a few minutes before the intruder alarm went off.
“Warning: Level Three Security Breach. All students please evacuate the building in an orderly fashion.”
Everyone started to jump out of their seats and run to the halls. Makoto and I both got up and exited with everyone. When we got into the hall, everyone was jostling and it made it impossible to go anywhere.
“Mako!” I shouted as I tried to grip onto his hand.
“Koko!” he shouted back.
Our fingers barely brushed each other before he was ripped away by everyone trying to get out of the building. I was shoved to the ground by the jostling crowd of students and I started to feel a panic attack coming. Flashes of my parents appeared in front of me as people continued to jostle around. My chest tightened and I couldn’t breathe, much less move. I covered my head as I tried to protect myself from everyone in the hallway. Tears started to prick my eyes and the sounds around me became muffled, the only sound I could hear clearly was my pounding heart. I didn’t hear actual words when someone started yelling at everybody and they all calmed down. I was stuck on the ground. My eyes blank and looking forward as tears slowly fell down my face. I was somewhat pulled out of my attack when someone pulled me to my feet and walked me over to the side of the hallway. They tried talking to me, but their voice sounded like it was underwater and I couldn’t focus on it. I still couldn’t breathe even though everyone had left the hallway beside the person in front of me and one other.
“Keiko!”
I finally snapped out of it and saw the person who had helped me. Bakugo was gripping my arms tightly to keep me upright. I stared back at him, my eyes wide and my face looking terrified. I looked over his shoulder and saw Makoto standing behind him, looking worried. I shook my head and stood up all the way, wiping the tears away.
“What was that all about?” Bakugo asked, not harshly just in his usual ‘Bakugo’ way.
“It was a panic attack,” I told him, still shaking a bit and starting to walk back to the cafeteria so that I could finish my food. I was really shaken up, but I also didn’t want to make a big deal out of what happened in case Bakugo decided to make fun of me. “I’m not the greatest with crowds and jostling.”
“You picked a lousy profession for that then,” Bakugo snorted.
I heard Makoto smack Bakugo’s arm in warning, but I started chuckling too. He had a point. What started out as a chuckle turned into an actual laugh.
“Are you okay?” Makoto asked, confused as to why I was laughing. “Did you hit your head or something?”
“I’m fine,” I told him. “Bakugo’s right.” I saw Bakugo smirk on my left as Makoto caught up to us and started walking on my right. “If I wanted to be like most heroes I did pick a pretty lousy profession.”
“What do you mean ‘like most heroes’?” Bakugo asked, genuinely confused.
“I don’t want to be in the public’s eye,” I told him. “It’s not something that appeals to me.”
Bakugo hummed in acknowledgment and we kept walking. I was glad he didn’t ask any further questions about my panic attack, but the fact that he was still walking with us was a surprise. We got our stuff from the cafeteria and finished our food. Bakugo stayed with us the whole time and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy his company. Surprisingly, he was rather quiet with us, the three of us just enjoying some peace and quiet after the big panic. Bakugo and Mako told me that it was Iida that calmed everyone down by telling them that the “dangerous intruder” was just the press.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” Bakugo asked me.
I looked up at him, surprised he cared about my wellbeing. Seeing the suppressed worry on his face made me want to reassure him. I gave him a genuine smile.
“I’m really alright, or I will be anyway,” I told him. “Thanks for helping me and for caring.”
“Tch,” he scoffed. “I just don’t want my rival to have anything hindering her to do her best.”
“Rival?” I asked. He scoffed again as if to say ‘duh’ and I smiled again. “Sounds good to me.”
Lunch ended soon after that conversation and we all headed back to the classroom. Everyone was sitting down except for Midoriya and Yaoyorozu, who were standing at the front of the class. I had my chin resting on my folded arms as I tried to stay awake enough to understand what was being said. I hooked my foot around Mako’s as a form of comfort. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t still shaken from my panic attack earlier and Mako knew so he kept my foot hooked around his under his chair.
“It’s time, class rep,” Yaoyorozu told Midoriya, who was still shaking in his boots. “Let’s begin!”
“Um, okay,” Midoriya started shakily. “So we need to figure out who the other class officers will be.” There was a pause as he looked down a bit and calmed himself. “But first, there’s something that I wanna say. I’ve thought a lot about this, and I think that Tenya Iida should be our class rep!” I lifted my head at this in surprise. Someone as set on becoming a hero as him throwing away this awesome opportunity? Weird. “He was able to capture everyone’s attention and get us in line. So I believe he should be the one leading our class from now on.”
There was silence in the classroom before Kirishima spoke up.
“Yeah, you know what?” he started. “If Midoriya vouches for him, I’m good. Plus he was a big help. He totally manned up and took charge, right?”
“Yup!” Kaminari agreed. “Oh, and did you notice he looked like the dude on the emergency exit signs when he was on the wall earlier?”
Dad interrupted everyone in his typical fashion.
“This is a waste of time,” he said, sitting up in his sleeping bag. “I don’t care who the rep is, just hurry up.”
He laid back down on his side to go to sleep as Iida stood up to talk. This might actually be a good change.
“If Midoriya is nominating me for this job,” he started. “Then I humbly accept! I pledge to carry out the duties of class rep to the best of my abilities!”
“Sounds good, emergency exit,” Kirishima said, giving him a thumbs up.
“Emergency exit IIda,” Kaminari mused. “Don’t let us down man!”
Poor Yaoyorozu sulked, probably muttering about how she got more votes than him. In all honesty, I thought that she would have made an awesome class rep too, but it seemed everyone was voting for Iida now. The end of the day came quickly and Mako and I didn’t hang around for too long before heading to the teacher’s lounge to meet up with Dad and go home.
“Keiko,” Dad called as soon as we walked into the lounge. He rushed up to me and looked me over to make sure I was alright. He inspected my face, holding it firmly so I couldn’t squirm away. “I heard about what happened, are you okay?”
“Yeah, Dad,” I said, trying to pull my face out of his hands. “Did Mako tell you?”
Dad let go and stood back, satisfied that I wasn’t injured. He shook his head before answering my question.
“No, actually,” he said. “Bakugo came up to me and said he thought he should tell me because I’m the teacher and it’s my job to deal with stuff like that.”
Mako and I looked at each other before turning back to Dad. Bakugo was really that concerned? I could not figure him out for the life of me. I had originally thought that he was just an overconfident asshole who didn’t care about others, but I guess that, deep down, he really does care.
“Oh,” was all I said in response. “I’m fine though. I was just shaken up a bit.”
Dad dropped the conversation and took Mako and I home, the three of us exhausted to varying degrees.

A/N: Hello again! Sticks here! Again, I did not mean to take as long of a break as I did, but alas: school. I'm hoping to write some more this week and next to get this story moving along and caught up to what I have planned so far. I'm hoping we'll be done with season one by the middle of February but we'll see what happens with school and such. It's my final semester at community college before transferring to uni so that will come first but I swear I'll update a bit more regularly. I hope that everyone reading this has a wonderful rest of your day, week, and year! See you all next chapter!

Because I’d never be able to draw all these but I have them in my head-
My BNHA characters’ Halloween costumes:
Lyna - Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz (group costume with her family. Eri is Dorothy, Mercurius is the Tinman, Aizawa is the Cowardly Lion, Nova is Toto)
Cassius - A Kyuubi (he has a one track mind and stuck to his aesthetic for his Halloween killing spree)

Bianca - Polar Bear (because it was semi simple for her to achieve with her white aesthetic)
Kaja - “Evil” Princess (princess dress, dark makeup, very specifically doing “evil” things)
Reiki - Zombie Nurse (nurse outfit with zombie makeup, not exactly 100% for doing his job but able to if anyone needs help)
Keiko - Erik/The Phantom from The Phantom of The Opera (“couple” costume with Asui, who is Raoul, the pair of them very specifically chose enemies to dress as)
Aiko - Conversation Heart, but it’s a Realistic Heart
Hifumi - Sugar (a white and glittery outfit with a label, twin costume with her sister, Soo Yun)
Soo Yun - Spice (a brown and glittery outfit with a label, twin costume with her sister, Hifumi)

He retches one final time before flushing. Hitoshi bites his lip while he watches the last bits of his former stomach content disappear.
“Shit.”
It is just a bug, he tells himself. He must have caught the flu… or food poisoning or… or… Hitoshi wipes at his eyes angrily when tears threaten to spill out. He stands on shaky legs, glancing at his phone, which has been set on the countertop next to the sink. It is barely 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday; everyone is still fast asleep. Except for himself of course. He has been throwing up, again, like he has every single morning for the past fourteen days.

1, 2 - tell us about the yamada family
@exposensei || character solidifying || accepting
1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?
hizashi loves his father. though not blood relatives, it’s been remarked more than once that yamada hizashi and yamada takuma bear a certain family resemblance even so: on the surface level, it’s a similarity in physique – they’re both long and lanky – but there’s also a certain openness about them that they share. takuma is a very earnest and genuine person, and a good bit of that is reflected in his son.
anyway, hizashi respects his father a lot. takuma is much quieter than hizashi is, but the things he has to say are meaningful. he was the only one in hizashi’s household growing up that had a commuting job (hizashi’s mother worked from home), so hizashi saw less of him than he saw his mother, but takuma brought home little anecdotes about his work and the things he saw that day that always made hizashi laugh. he had a way of turning even the most mundane of exchanges into an engaging story, just by the way he described it, and this was perhaps the seed of what makes hizashi so interested in people’s stories today. his father didn’t tell him fairy tales; he told him stories about real people, ordinary people he passed on the street, and made those people’s lives sound exciting and meaningful. that level of attention, of observance when it came to other people was absolutely a quality hizashi admired and has tried to emulate in his own interactions with others.
on the other hand, takuma is far more restrained than hizashi has ever been. he can express his thoughts well, but often keeps them to himself; he is very smart, but not loud or flashy. and there was a time, when hizashi was a teenager, when hizashi let himself grow more distant from his father; hizashi, having finally learned to control his quirk was loud, and he was flashy, and he was always moving, always had something to say, and for a while he began to dismiss takuma as rather…boring. he forgot, for a time, how much he had loved takuma’s ability to turn the mundane into the fantastic as a kid; as a teenager, he had less patience and saw only the mundane. not to say that he ever had a bad relationship with his father – he never really did; he certainly always loved takuma – but there were a few years where he was very busy with school, and his father was very busy with work, and hizashi didn’t…try very hard to overcome that to maintain a strong relationship with a father he had begun to dismiss as boring.
now, adult hizashi would like to go back in time and give teenage hizashi a good talking-to about that, because he came in his early twenties, and certainly has ever since, to appreciate anew takuma’s wisdom and insight and quiet wit. they have a very good relationship today.
2. Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have?
yamada keiko is and always has been the most important woman in hizashi’s life.
she has always worked from home, so she was around the most when hizashi was growing up, up through high school. she’s the one who taught him compassion and empathy. she was there for him growing up, when he was scared and upset by his own quirk. she supported him and loved him when he doubted himself, and was there to soothe and encourage him when he worked himself to exhaustion trying to control his quirk.
though she spent much of her time at her computer working, she also loves to bake and cook, and hizashi often cooked with her growing up; baking became their bonding activity. she taught hizashi much of what he considers the most important lessons he’s learned – compassion, empathy, caring for yourself and others. she’s one of those people who seems to exude motherhood, or at least so she seems to hizashi.
in fact, for a long time, keiko was essentially hizashi’s best friend. he didn’t have many, if any, friends growing up, because of his quirk, which i’ve talked about before – and in that time, it was keiko who played with him, who taught him games and talked with him and kept him from feeling alone. she wasn’t a replacement for children his age, but she did her best, and he can’t ever really think of his childhood as unhappy, even with his struggles, because he always had her and his father there caring for him.
funnily enough, though, if you asked hizashi his favorite thing about his mother, his first thought wouldn’t be a memory of how she treated him, but rather a memory of how she treated someone else. when aizawa shouta needed a place to stay, only a few months after hizashi had met him, and in fact when keiko and takuma had only met him a couple of times – it was keiko who, as soon as hizashi explained shouta’s predicament, offered their home to him. it was keiko who drove them to the police station in the aftermath of the fire and hugged shouta like he were her own son.
even though, at first, she couldn’t communicate with shouta very directly – he didn’t yet know sign, and keiko, entirely deaf, does not talk, so hizashi generally acted as a translator for both of them – she still did all she could to make him feel comfortable in their home, understanding that in the wake of tragedy he needed time to grow comfortable with them. hizashi had always loved her, but as she was the only mother figure he’d ever experienced, he also took her care a little bit for granted – but seeing the way she became a mother for shouta as well, a boy she barely knew at the start, a boy who had never had the best of parents, showed hizashi the true value of her giving and loving nature.
and he tries to emulate that, in the way he cares for others.

So with a little love & nudging I've fallen back in love with writing again.
A huge thank you to @oathofoaks @melapede & @nightwingshero !!!
So I've posted some new short drabbles for my OC Keiko on AO3, let me know what y'all think, a snippet below the cut!
"But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. That thou, her maid, art far more fair than she." "Are you seriously quoting Shakespeare at me?" Though she couldn't see it, Keiko knew a sheepish smile would be playing across Shota Aizawa's lips. "When I asked you to read to me, I know for a fact I passed you Pygmalion. If you were going to be cute, you could have just picked a quote from there." Slipping an arm around her stomach and drawing her closer to his chest, Shota chuckled as he lifted the book from her lap and opened to the first page. "Covent Garden at 11.15 p.m. Torrents of heavy summer rain. Cab whistles blowing frantically in all directions. Pedestrians running for shelter into the market and under the portico of St. Paul’s Church, where there are already several people, among them a lady and her daughter in evening dress. They are all peering out gloomily at the rain, except one man with his back turned to the rest, who seems wholly preoccupied with a notebook in which he is writing busily." The slight pause and rumble in his chest had Keiko tilting her head back to rest on his shoulder, temple pressed against his chin. "What's so funny?"

My family and I stood outside of a door, today being the day that I meet my birth family. I fiddled with my fingers nervously, the front door of the small, cottage like house being the only thing separating me from meeting them.
"Are you ready, little listener?" I looked at the ground and shakily nodded, slightly worried about how this might go.
Slowly, I raised my fist and knocked on the door, on the second knock, the wooden panel flung open to reveal Fumikoto. Her black hair was pulled back in a neat bun and she looked excited as she quickly pulled me into a hug. I tensed up but stiffly hugged her back.
"Hi Fumikoto." I mumbled out, still on edge with her since the last time I saw her.
"Hi, honey. It's so nice to see you again, and please, call me Azuna or Auntie, we are family after all. Come in, come in, everyone's here." She spun on her heel and I sent my family members a cautious look, unnerved at her adamancy on how I address her. We all followed her inside and I held my bag closer to my body, my breathing turning slightly shakier at the reality of it all. "Mom, Dad, this is Onryo." I awkwardly waved at the elderly couple sat in the living room. The man was bald with very prominent crows feet and thin, rectangular glasses. The woman had short, gray hair and half moon glasses perched on her nose.
"Who are the others?" The older man asked and I cautiously took a step back.
"I'm Aizawa Shouta, this is my husband Yamada Hizashi, we're Onryo's parents. This is our other son, Shinsou Hitoshi." The man gave a small nod before finally turning to me.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet you. My name is Ren and this is my wife, Keiko." The older man stood up and hobbled over to me, pulling me into a hug, followed by his wife, and I finally saw where I got my height from. This man was shorter then me by a small amount.
"It's nice to meet you too." I said back hesitantly.
"Boys! Come here please!" Fumikoto called into another room. I looked in the direction she yelled towards and watched a man with brown hair and a small boy on his hip walk in. "This is my husband, Yuto and our son, Sota." I waved awkwardly and glanced at my brother.
"Onryo?" My head snapped back to the doorway and I saw a man with hazel eyes and ginger curls standing there.
"Shikadai?" I asked in return, fully understanding where I got my looks from. Unfortunately, Fumikoto hadn't been lying, I look a lot like him. His eyes watered and he pulled me into a tight, warm hug. I awkwardly hugged him back, my body tense from everyone being so physically affectionate.
"I can't believe I'm finally meeting you. You must be his family." He turned towards everyone beside me and I spaced out for a moment, completely overwhelmed within the first five minutes. A familiar hand delicately placed itself on my back and I looked to Dad with wide eyes.
We're going to head out for a little while, we'll be back at five to pick you both up. Do you have everything you need? Dad asked slowly and I rapidly nodded. Okay, call one of us if either of you need something.
Okay. I love you.
He gave a rare, soft smile and we all bid our goodbyes. My brother and I standing in the same spot for a moment, not knowing what to do.
This is awkward.
Yeah. Are you okay?
I think so. Still kinda on edge.
"It's so cool that you all know sign language." Yuto commented as he sipped on a drink.
"Thank you, everyone in our family is fluent in it." I commented hesitantly, not wanting to irk anyone by calling my family what they are.
"I assume it's because of your quirk, your hearing starts to fade after a while." Shikadai commented.
"Yeah, it doesn't help that I have hearing aids already but I started learning when I was probably six." I rubbed the back of my neck, starting to regret coming here.
"You boys can sit down, don't be strangers." Azuna told us in a playful tone, clearly trying to break the tension. My brother and I sat down on some of the chairs that were pulled out from the dining room and I tugged my sleeves down to my palms. "Onryo, I owe you an apology for how I went about things a few weeks ago. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have gone about it the way I did. It wasn't right of me." I curtly nodded.
"I understand why you did, if it was Hitoshi calling me I would jump to help him despite any logic. Toshi, if I get arrested at any point, you're my phone call." He rolled his eyes and bumped my shoulder.
"Same to you."
"Onryo, I'm sorry for how our daughter has turned out. I swear we raised her better then that." Keiko said softly and I anxiously tugged my lip between my teeth.
"Can I ask.. about the uh, history of everything? If I'm being blunt, I know the bare minimum. I know she turned to drugs and at some point, I guess Shikadai broke up with her, but that's all I really know." Everyone looked at each other, silently communicating the hard truth.
"Yuto, would you mind taking Sota into the other room to play?" The man nodded, placing a kiss on his wife's head before taking their baby to a different room. "Who would like to start?"
"She was always a happy girl." Keiko started, eyes already watering behind her crescent glasses. "So bright and full of life." Keiko said as she got up and walked a ways away, coming back with a framed picture of a girl with long, dark brown hair and shining green eyes. "That was her in her second year of high school." My eyes darted around the image, not being able to focus on it without seeing her attacking me.
"We met in junior high." I turned to look at Shikadai. His voice heavy as he spoke. "We were friends for a while until I finally worked up the courage to confess to her. We were together from the time we were seventeen to the time we were twenty three."
"So, when she got pregnant with me." He nodded, clearly not a fan of this topic.
"I didn't know she was pregnant with you, but yes. The first few years were great, we were young and in love. When we turned twenty, I proposed and we were engaged. She kept the drugs hidden from me for almost two years. I thought she was just trying out those fad diets and having too much fun after classes in college. I never thought... I never thought she was using opioids. I found out after she called to have me bail her out, Azuna didn't pick up and your grandparents had gotten to a point where they could only help so much. I tried getting her into rehab, counseling, narcotics anonymous. When who you're trying to help is an adult though, there's only so much you can do. It wasn't a healthy relationship, but at the time, I didn't care, I still loved her. She would berate me, attack me, you name it, she did it. Yuto here, is my best friend and I'm pretty much the reason him and Azuna got together. One night, she told me she hated me and that we were done, I packed a duffel and went to Yuto's house. Azuna told me Shiroka was pregnant, and I confronted her. She told me I wasn't the father and filed a false restraining order against me. Azuna texted me when you were born, a full head of ginger hair, but I couldn't go see you. By the time I talked to a lawyer so I could sign your birth certificate and be with you, you were already in the system and nobody could tell me where you were. I got in touch with Kasumi when you were four and requested a DNA test, but she wouldn't allow it. With my living situation at the time, I wouldn't have been allowed to adopt you. I'm not proud of it, but I gave up, I just hoped you would have a good enough family one day. Then I saw you in the Sports Festival and you were amazing, I was so proud to see how much you've grown up." I looked at him intently, not knowing that he stayed updated on me for a while. But it raised more questions.
"Why didn't you reach out after any of the times you heard about me?" My voice was weak, quiet and trembling as I asked one of the questions I'd been waiting so long to. My eyes watered slightly, all the emotions I'd been feeling starting to build up at once.
"Onryo, I wanted to, we all did. I told them not to because I didn't want you to feel pressured or overwhelmed. We always wanted to reach out and see the day you'd come home, but we knew you were adopted and had your own family." The moment he mentioned me coming home, my body went into fight or flight mode but the only thing I could was freeze. My breathing turning shallow and I felt like an animal at the zoo.
"Can we have a minute?" My brother asked, Keiko nodding sweetly and directing him towards a different room. I couldn't even make it to the room though, my breathing growing ragged as I slid down the hall wall. "Hey, look at me. You're safe, nothings gonna happen." I stared at my brother, hoping it would help but nothing seemed to be doing the trick. We tried everything but I couldn't slow my breathing enough to respond. Next thing I knew, his phone started buzzing, showing that Denki was calling. My brother gave me a single nod and gestured to the phone he placed in my shaking hands. I slowly answered and heard the beep.
"Hey, pretty boy. My job right now is to just distract you per Shinsou's request. Hanta gave me a rubix cube to try and solve, it didn't happen.. I ended up just taking the stickers off and moving them around. I gave it back to him the next day and he was confused so he messed it all up again. So today I asked Yao-momo to make me a few brand new ones and she did, so let the pranking commence." I let out a puff of air as a weak laugh. "Hey, take some deep breaths with me, yeah? Don't think about anything else that's going on over there. In. And out. Great job, Ryo. Do you wanna tell me or Shinsou what happened?" I sniffled and wiped my eyes, taking more shaky breaths.
"He said th-that they couldn't wait to see the day I'd come home and all I could picture was Shiroka." Hitoshi nodded and rubbed my back while the line was silent for a bit.
"Well they aren't taking you anywhere. I promise." I slowly nodded and worked on keeping my breathing level. "How're you feeling?"
"Better, I guess. I'm gonna let Toshi have his phone back though, but thank you." He hummed softly and we said our goodbyes, my brother gently taking his phone from me and waiting patiently for me to be ready. Once I was, we made our way back out to the living room.
"Oh you boys are both right on time, we were about to head back there and see if you two were ready to eat. Your grandmothers special kenchinjiru just finished simmering for some time, are you both hungry?" Azuna asked excitedly and I politely nodded, my brother doing the same. "Perfect, you both can go wash up." Hitoshi and I both washed our hands and set our places at the table, sitting with everyone. My brother was on my left and Shikadai sat on my right, followed by Yuto, Azuna and their son, and my grandparents.
"So, would you mind filling me in on the last fifteen years of your life? I feel like I have so much to catch up on." Shikadai asked softly, clearly not wanting to over step.
"Uh, I guess the largest thing is I lost most of my hearing. My family is amazing, honestly. Hitoshi's the best brother I could ask for and our Dad's are amazing." I wanted to smack myself in the face for how tense I made the atmosphere become. Everyone's mood plummeted for the most part aside from Toshi's and Sota, however the child had an excuse since he was happily oblivious to what was going on as he played with his spoon.
"How did you lose your hearing? You're still pretty young, thought I should've beat you to the punch." Ren said in a light tone, uplifting the mood significantly. So I went on to explain what happened.
"We saw that on the news, I'm glad you found how to make our quirk useful for hero work." Shikadai told me softly. I gave him a gentle smile despite how perturbed I was at him calling it 'our quirk'.
"What else have we missed? I feel like we still need to know so much more about you." Keiko mused delicately, eyes shining behind her glasses.
"Well, since he won't tell you anything, I suppose I will." My brother drawled out. "We both know english and sign language, but Onryo is also fluent in spanish, and is pretty good at speaking french and italian. He's gotten into a fight, we even made a code name for when he gets mad. He's extremely talented at playing instruments and singing, he got his IQ tested by Principal Nedzu and scored a 148. We have two cats and are slowly adjusting to the dorms." They all stared at us in disbelief, not expecting my brother to give them a crash course in my life. Fumikoto gave us a small look, acting like there was something else we should say until it clicked. "Whatever detail you're thinking isn't necessary, what I said was the important stuff." She gave him a tight lipped smile and nodded.
"Well, I know I would love to hear all about it." Shikadai said happily. So we explained as we ate, answering questions I've had to before with my friends, all of them perplexed at what we told them.
We eventually moved back to the living room, Sota wobbling up to me on unsteady, chubby legs and sticking his arms out with a grin. I gave him a small smile and lifted him up, setting him on my legs. His tiny hands moved up and explored my face, giggling away cheerfully as he pinched and prodded at my skin, small bits of baby babbling slipping into the mix. I couldn't stop the grin spreading across my face as he did so, even as he curiously rubbed a finger over my scars.
"You're a natural with kids, Onryo. He's usually more closed off with new people." Fumikoto said in a delicate tone, not wanting to disturb the atmosphere.
"I've been around a lot of kids growing up, for some reason I'm good with them." I responded through bits of laughter.
"If you don't mind me asking, how'd you get those scars on your face, son?" Ren asked gently, clearly not wanting to strike a nerve.
"The one on my nose I got when I was eight, bad foster home. The one down my neck I, uh, got while I was kidnapped." I rushed out the words and scooped up Sota, moving us to the floor to play with him.
However, the movement made him erupt into a fit of giggles and he made grabby hands again. So I laid on my back and held him above me, lifting him up and down at different speeds while he continued his slew of laughter. What I wasn't prepared for, was the small bit of spit up flying onto my shirt after we sat up again.
"Shoot, I'm sorry about that, I thought he'd be okay because it's been a while since his last meal." Yuto apologized as he came over and picked up his son, Shikadai standing and slowly offering a hand. I looked at it quizzically but accepted his offer and let him help me up.
"No worries, I wasn't thinking about the bit of motion sickness he could get." I held my shirt between pinched fingers, the small stain feeling uncomfortable on my body.
"Let's get you a shirt to change into. I have some clothes that should fit you." Shikadai said to me, jutting his head in a direction to follow him. I glanced back at my brother, waiting for his nod of approval before following my birth father down the hallway and into a different room. He rifled through a drawer and held up a black t-shirt, comparing its size to my body before nodding in his own approval. "This should fit you, I'll leave a few others out for you just in case." I nodded lightly, not knowing how else to respond in that moment. He walked out and shut the door behind him.
I slipped into the black t-shirt but his measurements were slightly off. While we were about the same height, I had more muscle mass and I didn't want to wear a form fitting shirt. So after a thorough check in the dresser mirror, I slipped out of it and grabbed the light blue shirt he left out. I looked at myself in the mirror after I got it on, staring judgmentally at my exposed skin. Much like the black shirt, it hugged my form like a second skin and I slowly pulled it off. I fiddled with the next shirt for a moment, an army green long sleeve that looked to be on the slightly larger side. However, I froze when I felt a set of eyes on me. My head snapped in the direction of the door and I saw Shikadai standing there in disbelief with watery eyes.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to barge in, I knocked but there wasn't an answer." He said apologetically.
"It's okay, if you knocked soft I probably didn't hear it, it's one of the things I struggle picking up with my hearing aids." I explained awkwardly, rushing to pull the shirt over my head.
"Can I ask what happened?" I busied my hands by folding the clean shirts while swallowing the lump in my throat.
"Shitty foster homes, the care coordinator at the adoption center and uh, you're ex. Plus some others in the League of Villans." His face fell further and I awkwardly stared at the floor.
"Gods, I- I'm so sorry Onryo. I am so sorry." I shook my head and fidgeted with the sleeves.
"It's not your fault, you weren't the one who did it." He wiped his eyes and ran a hand through his hair.
"Still, if I was just faster and filed for parental rights then none of this would have happened." I shifted from one foot to the other.
"You said it yourself, with the situation you were in, I was bound to end up in the system. Can't change the past." He sniffled slightly and solemnly nodded his head.
"Can I give you a hug?" I gave him a slow nod and before I could process what was going on, he was already hugging me tightly. Hesitantly, I wrapped my arms around him and waited for him to step away. "I'm going to be honest with you. I want to be more involved in your life. I want to keep in touch with you and see you more often. But I understand if you aren't ready for that. I know it must be a lot for you and I'm not expecting you to call me 'Dad' or anything. I just, I want to be there." We both migrated to the bed and sat there as I processed his words.
"I don't know yet, honestly. I'm still processing everything." He fiddled with his fingers beside me.
"There's... there's a lot that I have to make up to you. And it'll probably be impossible with everything you've been through, but if you're okay with it eventually, I want to try. I don't blame you if you ever hated me or if you do still. I can carry the blame, I accept my responsibility for what happened." I rubbed the back of my neck as he spoke.
"I never hated you. I was angry for a while, because of how much I didn't know. But I don't hate you." He sat there for a moment, clearly digesting my words.
"That's fair. You're right to be angry for whatever you've been through. And at me for being absent for fifteen years." He dried his remaining tears and tried to compose himself. "We should probably get back out there, I know everyone else wants to spend as much time with you as possible." I nodded lightly, saying a quiet agreement and following him back out to the living room. He took my dirtied shirt and threw it in the washer while I met everyone else back in the living room.
Everything alright?
Yeah.
You okay?
I think so.
Sota came back over to me and grabbed my moving hands curiously, babbling away about something.
"Uh, how old is Sota?" I asked curiously.
"He's eleven months old, he turns a year old next month. Speaking of, we actually wanted to invite you to his birthday party. We'd love to see you there, it's going to be October twentieth. His birthday is the twenty fifth. Plus you would get to meet more of the family, more aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. You're great with Sota, I'm sure you'd do great with the other kids in the family." As difficult as it was, I tried to control my facial reactions and kept a neutral expression as Azuna talked.
"I'll let you know, depends on my school schedule and whatnot." I managed to get out, not wanting to step on any toes.
"Well, if you want, we can always do a smaller one for you and Sota, kind of a conjoined one. You two are only seven days apart after all." She tacked on and I sent a tight lipped smile while Sota started clapping my hands together. The small action effectively making me laugh a little, in turn making Sota smile.
"Uh, I'll think about it and let you guys know, I don't know how tests and things are gonna look then." I weakly stated. My brother nodded his head in my direction.
Dad texted me, he asked me to tell you to check your phone.
Shit, I haven't checked it in a while.
He's not gonna be upset. Why are you acting so different though?
Not right now.
Bro talk later?
Bro talk later.
"You really like watching me sign, don't you?" I asked Sota, my voice lilted a bit, my hands moving as I spoke. "Yeah, maybe one day you'll get to learn sign language, too. I think you'd like that." I said to the baby cheerfully, smiling brightly as he held my moving hands while squeal-shriek-giggling. The sound making me wince at the whining feedback in my hearing aids.
"Everything alright, honey?" Keiko asked from her rocking chair.
"Yeah, just the feedback in my hearing aids is a little harsh." I explained briefly as I waited for it to end. Sota was still giggling happily, oblivious to my previous discomfort.
"Onryo." My brother said. I hummed and turned towards him. "Check your phone."
"Oh right, I forgot, sorry." I rushed out and detangled one of my hand to grab my phone.

To Drowzee: I'm okay, better then earlier. Tempted to leave early and say a family emergency came up though
To Jangmo-o: It's going okay I guess, it's kind of a lot though
From Drowzee: If you'd like to, we can. Sunshine and I can be there in ten minutes.
Do you think they would be upset if we left early? I'm getting drained and kind of overstimulated.
They'll probably be bummed no matter what time we leave. I say we try and tough it out at least another half hour so it's not like 'hey we got here at one and leaving at three but we were supposed to leave at five, sorry'.
You got a point I guess. I don't want to offend anyone, everything's just a lot right now. My brain just feels like this big puddle of goop.
We can head out whenever you're ready.
I let out a deep breath and nodded, going back to playing with Sota and holding small talk but I couldn't help but realize Shikadai's intense gaze on me.
I can't tell if you're looking at me like that because you're still freaked out that we look a lot alike or because you know sign language and are trying to figure out a way to bring it up without saying you were eavesdropping.
I guess both. He signed back and my eyes widened drastically.
Noted.
If you need to leave to take care of yourself, that's okay. Sure, we'll be bummed that we didn't get to see you longer but if you're drained and overwhelmed, the best thing you can do is go home.
Are you sure?
Of course, Onryo.
I nodded slowly and texted back Dad to let him know. My brother already watching the conversation so he was prepared.
"Hey everyone, Onryo isn't feeling too good right now, so he's going to head home early." Shikadai announced for me, something I was silently thankful for. Everyone seemed slightly upset that I was leaving so soon, but also sympathetic towards it.
We all bid our goodbyes and all but rushed out to our parents car. I buckled my seat belt and curled my legs up to my chest, resting my chin on my knees and looking out the window. Tears already welling in my eyes
"Onryo? Is everything okay?" Dad asked gently. I nodded and wiped the tears.
"What's wrong, little listener?" Pops asked, turning in his seat to look at me better.
"I'm not... I'm not angry anymore, I'm not angry at Shikadai and I've been mad at him for so many years, I don't know how to feel. I spent so many years blaming him, just to find out none of it was really his fault." My voice broke slightly and I harshly rubbed at my face. Hitoshi scooted over and wrapped an arm around me, letting me rest on his shoulder.
"Its okay to not know how you feel after that, it's a lot to take in." I nodded a little and swallowed the lump in my throat. "Aside from that, anything else happen?"
"They're all.. very persistent on me being around more, they even invited me to Sota's birthday party to meet more of my bio family and when I said I wasn't sure, Fumikoto kept pushing and asked if maybe we could do a small conjoined party for me and Sota. Keiko and Ren were nice, Yuto didn't really say much to me. It was all just, a lot. And Shikadai saw my scars, so that didn't help anything." Everyone shot me a confused glance. "Uh, I had to change my shirt cause Sota spit up a little bit on me and I didn't hear him knocking so he walked in to make sure I was okay." I briefly summed up. "I don't know what I want to do, it's a lot to take in and a lot of change and I'm happy with our family already. It's weird, seeing how differently they live from us. It feels like some of them just made excuses for why I grew up in the system, like they didn't care enough to try. Like I wasn't important enough to put in the effort. I'd go through foster care again if it meant we stayed family, I just wanna know why I wasn't worth the effort for them." I said in a shaky voice, another wave of tears making a path down my face.
"Onryo, you are more than worth it. It's not your fault that it took them fifteen years to want to try at all." Pops told me, reaching an arm to the back seat to hold my hand in his. "We would go through dealing with Kasumi again and again if it meant getting to be both of your dads." I coughed out a small laugh and tried to dry my eyes.
"Pops, I don't know what to do." My voice wobbled and my lip trembled at the confession. His features softened drastically and I could tell that caught off guard. I had always to be as independent as possible so I wouldn't be a burden, and here I was silently asking for help.
"It's okay. You aren't expected to know right now, it's a big decision with a lot going into it. Whatever you choose, we'll have your back and we won't be upset. Promise." I nodded my head, sniffling from crying so much today. I shut my eyes tight, hoping if I did, all the problems would go away for a moment. I stayed like that for the rest of the car ride, despite it not actually working.
"Do you want to come back to Pops and I's or go to the dorms?" Dad asked as we drove through the entrance to the dorms.
"I think I just wanna spend some time by myself right now." I mumbled out, trying my hardest to ignore the itch creeping across my skin. Everyone simply nodded and we said our goodbyes. My brother and I walked in the front door and were quickly bombarded by our friends.
"Tsukababes! What was it like! Were they nice? Mean? Weird?" She was practically bouncing where she stood and while I normally adored how much energy she had, today I was completely drained.
"They were okay." I stated plainly.
"Hey, ¿estás bien?" Hanta asked lightly, I gave him a small nod and stuck my hands in my pockets, my head tilting down towards the floor. I could feel Denki staring at me quizzically, my brother doing the same. "Y'know what I think would be great tonight? We should watch a movie! Either down here or in my room cause I brought a TV. What do you guys think?" He could barely finish his words before Mina and Kirishima cheered in excitement. Denki following suit before everyone turned to my brother and I. "Lo siento, pero no tienes voz en esto, amigo." (Sorry, but you don't have a say in this, dude.) I sighed but nodded my head, knowing he was more looking out for me then anything.
"If I'm going then you are too." I told my brother and watched him shrug.
