90% or guys I talk to want more muscle and less fat. How can you achieve it? #Repost @chadhargrove1 (@get_repost) ・・・ Do you want to get leaner? - You've gotta understand something about what getting leaner means. - It means fat loss, sure. You've gotta burn fat if you're gonna get leaner. - But here's the part where SO many go wrong. - They lose muscle, too. - And the closer you get to truly being your leanest and healthiest, the more at risk you are of losing your muscle. - But you don't have to. There's ways around this so that the weight you lose is ALL fat. - What are they? - 1. AVOID STEEP CALORIE DEFICITS - Honestly, you can probably go steeper than than below 8x bodyweight (pounds) or 17 times bodyweight (kgs) -- but you'll probably hate life and begin to risk losing muscle. - Truth is, if these next parts are done right, you can get into a pretty significant calorie deficit and KEEP all the muscle. - 2. KEEP YOUR STRENGTH - Honestly, aim to get stronger. Even if you don't want more muscle, you'll never build too much while in a calorie deficit. - This is, without question, your MOST SIGNIFICANT marker. If you're getting weaker, you can be pretty sure you're losing muscle. - Not that you can't have a bad day and be tired and lift less, but I mean actually get weaker. - Focus on your bigger lifts -- your bench presses, Deadlift variations, squats and rows -- and keep them within rep ranges mostly between 5-12. - Not getting weaker? Good, you aren't losing muscle either. - Next tip is huge in making sure you don't get weaker (or lose muscle) - 3. Get Enough Protein - Muscle is made of protein so you have to feed to stay! How much? 0.7 times your bodyweight in pounds at least. Or 15 x your bodyweight in kgs. - If you're really overweight, use your ideal weight. - Got that? - Seriously, pay attention to those 3 things and you'll get leaner without losing muscle. - ps. You might FEEL like you're losing muscle but if you aren't getting weaker, you're good. - Questions or comments?
