my sister and I as queerish catholicish people* have been fascinated with the the new pope drama.

Anyways we were wondering about context.

When the pope was asking the vatican to "tone down the faggotry" was he

Deliberatly condemning homosexuls in the vatican?

Asking vatican employees to stop gay sex while at work.

Asking vatican employees to stop behaving in a stereotypically gay way at work?

Asking vatican employees to stop being so extra? This is pope Francis after all. He's not really a big luxury guy.....and maybe he finds the drag race aesthetic to be at odds with votes of poverty. (The documentary "Paris is burning" might correct that misunderstanding...but I can see how a general apeal to tone down extragance combined with a new slang phrase in his second language could cause this.

I do understand that whatever the context for the quote was, pope Francis used the wrong term.

But Im really curious what he was trying to accomplish.

Context: the Pope was telling (Italian) bishops that the Church should discourage gay men from joining, and "there's too much homosexuality (faggotry) in seminaries already." We don't know the context as this was leaked, but if I HAD to make a guess I would say_ 1) This is undoubtedly a homophobic statement 2) this is coming from a guy who feels strongly that clergy should respect their votes of chastity, which a lot of priests straight-up ignore.

So, like. Francis HAS gone on record saying that gay men are likely to falter in their vocations or whatever. But if I had to speculate, and I don't believe I'm being overly charitable here, I think the point of his speech was, "By the way, priests should not fuck, remember that? And maybe men who are into men are more likely to fuck their colleagues and keep quiet about it, we all know it happens way too much."

But yeah tldr: he WAS "deliberately condemning homosexuals" in a "gay people are more likely than straight people to give in to the temptations of the flesh" kinda way. Which IS homophobic but not outrageously so, and I think very much in line with his overall line re: queer people in the Church, kind of when he said "Blessings to same-sex couples are fine! It's not the same thing as a real marriage tho."

I think it was a remark that wouldn't have raised any eyebrows among its intended audience if he hadn't used that word, which gave people who don't like him a lot of ammo to discredit him and motivation to leak the story. That's also why I think there's no way he was aware of the full implications of the word — would this pope say slurs in private? idk. maybe. I don't know him. Would he say slurs in front of an audience of bishops when half the Vatican can't stand him because they think he's a dangerous third-world outsider and a hardass? No fucking way.

At least that's my take. I'm gonna @monstrousgourmandizingcats who may have better insight.

(i know u know about this cause. Its a bird. And also was in the bracket if i remember right (to be fair ive been just a TAD confused as to wich bird poll blog this is ever since u changed ur url lol), but i dunno maybe i can give u some new info! And maybe not, but hopefylly you'll put up with me anyway!)

Anyway this is my FAVORITE. BIRD. And more people need to talk about her!!!!

So first of all there's the main thing they're known for - being the ONLY known vertabrate whose diet consists mainly (between 70 and 90 PERCENT!!!!!!) of BONE!!!!!!

ALSO however! This bird is POSSIBLE evidence of non-human animal using COSMETICS!!!! Y'see, they are naturally mostly white in coloration, but they roll in iron-rich mud and dust, thus dyeing their feathers a rich red color! Interestingly, Bearded Vultures, a primarily solitary and somewhat territorial animal, seem to be more respectful of and submissive to others of their species who have more red to their feathers. Though it is worth noting, as these birds live in very high altitudes, that we havent been able to observe them in the wild enough to prove the connection between dyed hue and perceived dominance.

Also i seem to remember in some poll (genuinely cant remember if it was urs or not) the Bearded Vulture was beat by a bird whose main notable trait was commiting fratricide - something that the Bearded Vulture ALSO does! The mother lays two eggs, one egg hatches about a week before the other, and upon the second egg hatching one chick (almost always the older one) kills and eats the other. I dont usually share that bit cause it would turn a lot of folks off from my Favorite Bird Ever but it really bothered me how that poll went down lol (lighthearted) (not actually mad)

Anyway, uuuuhhhh i think thats it -

So they eat bones right? And some bones are to big to swallow yeah? So, like any strong-legged bird would, they pick up the too-big bones, fly way up high, and then drop them on rocks to break them into edible peices.

Seems pretty normal yeah?

Well (allegedly) they also do that to turtles/turtles to access the meat on rare occasion.

Still not that weird? I completely agree!

However, (allegedly) a Bearded Vulture once killed a greek playwright by the name of Aeschylus by mistaking his bald head for a rock and dropping a tortoise on it from a great height!

I have not stopped smiling since I read the message for the first time and I reinstalled Tumblr on my mobile phone so I can reply to you. Also, I was not kidding yesterday when I said I screenshotted your first comment and sent it to a friend with “OMG” and 500 crying emojis.

But for real, your words give me life and so much motivation to keep going. As you noticed, writing this story was not always easy for me and I doubted many, many, many times if it was a good idea to write a dark fic especially with Wilmon as the main couple. It is the best feeling that people not only like my story and writing, but they also enjoy me digging deep in all the darkness my vampires offer.

I especially love your excitement that I decided to go dark and to stay dark with my vampires. I never felt the urge for Simon to fight his instincts (unpopular opinion time, I personally find that a very boring troop) and I always wanted to explore what are the limits when you are part of a species that is not only superior to humans, but also needs them to survive. As you noticed, there are no limits and it is so much fun! Even though I still wonder what it says about me how I can write the most vicious chapters without problem or blinking an eye. The first real chapter of “On a Knife’s Edge” was more challenging than all the brutal chapters from TRTN combined.

On a selfish note, I have a pretty regular update schedule, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts while I am writing my fics. I really cannot overstate how important comments are and how much they keep me as a writer motivated. So yeah, I would LOVE to have you along the ride, but obviously also feel free to wait until the fic is finished.

@maturation​ hmmm not really :( i wrote some tips here for making teenagers look like teenagers, but it’s even harder to make them look like preteens 😭 i think the only time i pulled it off was with casper, and that was really just because he has a baby face without trying. i didn’t even try with asa because he’s so big, i just did a time skip to avoid the whole thing. i’m sorry i can’t help more!! it’s such a huge limitation of the sims :/

hey! i thought i had removed everything by pandasama, but there was actually a file called “animation_injector_changingtable” in my mods folder that was causing problems. delete it, then delete localthumbcache, then reload the game to see if it worked :) otherwise my other problem was an outdated TOOL mod, i thought i updated it but i actually downloaded an old version! (btw, pandasama’s other stuff works fine now, i put it all back after i finished testing. just make sure to update the childbirth mod if you have that)

yes it’s a main blog!! i would 1000000% recommend creating a new account for your simblr! it’s huuuge for visibility. it would be really hard for people to follow you back if your main blog is the one whose url is showing up; most people won’t go to the effort of clicking on your blog to find out if you have a simblr somewhere else. i created a separate email so that i could keep my personal blog as my main blog, but still have a new account for simblr :) also if you use firefox (which everyone should tbh), you can use the containers extension so that you don’t have to log in and out of your accounts all the time, you can just open them in two tabs!

okay it's kinda funny you said this because... well i don't want to give too much detail but i used to live between a historic cemetery, an honest to god abandoned psychiatric facility, and a building that's known to be one of the most haunted places in the state. but i still never felt or saw ANY ghosts. that's why i didn't believe for so long, because how can i be in the freaking bermuda triangle of ghost activity and never see one?? i'm still mad about it lmao, whether i believe in them or not, i've always wanted to see a ghost so bad. especially if they're just lonely! come to me and we can chill lol

oh wow yeah it’s always freaky when people who don’t seem like the type to believe in this kind of stuff tell you stories like this; it adds a new layer of credibility if you can eliminate all other options. like when people are grieving their loved ones, it’s normal to see/hear/smell them everywhere, and when you’re living in that fog of grief, you can mistake a lot of things for ghost activity that are actually just a result of you looking for patterns to make sense of it all. and i still think this is the case most of the time. i remember when my grandma died, my mom was understandably a complete mess, and she was always misplacing things in that time. but to this day, she still claims it was my grandma who was moving her water bottle, turning the stove on, etc. i’m still (and always will be) a very science minded person, so i’m always going to look at the other explanations first. sorry that was a tangent lmao but my point is, it’s always weird when someone down to earth says stuff like this. that would be so sad, but at least he was able to comfort them a little bit :( what an awful way to go :(

2023 blog update !

Sooo happy new year everyone, and let's get into the thick of it, because I have a lot of words to spew out from my little tired brain ( i swear i started writing this at 4am, how's it past 6 already ? ). Beware long post...

I'm ditching the "sonic fandom" categorizing tag, most of my blog is sonic stuff so it doesn't really matter ( i'll change out the old tag on my old posts later when i remember... )

I wanted to change my url, cause i don't like what it stands for now, but it's what I'm credited as in the SWA zine and i don't wanna inconvenience them this late in the thing, so I'm gonna keep it for the time being. Maybe in a few months I'll change it ?

I kinda hate tagging my posts so i think i'm gonna stop using most of my tags when i'm reblogging, just doing my regular comments instead and content warnings if it needs it ( don't forget you can always ask to tag ! ), and of course, the reblog tag stays.

This doesn't mean I'm ditching the categorizing tags entirely though. I'm gonna try something. At every end of the month I'll go into the mass post editor and just correctly tag everything. ( I might still tag characters and fandoms the regular way for non-sonic stuff ).

I might reblog a little less. Or at least try to. The amount of stuff I usually reblog kind of overwhelms me ( sideblog will not be affected as it's a lot less pressure ).

I have a lot saved up in my likes tab that i still need to get to reblogging... might be time to revive the 'queued' tag ?

In terms of resolutions... I wanna post more art ! I basically stopped entirely in the later half of 2022 cause of ID anxiety and that's no good, art is what i made this blog for ! I also still haven't introduced you guys to my AU and I was supposed to do that in, like, June 2022... So I'm gonna do that. Lemme know what format you think I should post the 24 ( and more ) images in ? ^^;

Maybe I could post my long rambles and weird ""essays"" ( heavy quotations because those are basically liveblogging of my current thoughts ), if you guys would like to see that. A lot of questioning logic, lore, headcanons and theories. Stuff like that.

I want to interact more with the fandom ! Provide actual content ! Be active, be friends, y'know. Do the club activities and all that jazz. Art challenges, redraws, collabs, whiteboards, dtiys... I wanna be part of the cool/uncool kids and have fun while doing it !

i think the closest thing i have to comfort characters is like. Sierra and Samaël but both of those are d&d characters so idk if they count. let's also say Gideon Nav, which is a healthy and sane comfort character

so i promised to write down why my ooc tag is outofmemories, and how i came to choose the url i currently have. Cause i have had the same url for nearly a decade now.

I have had this url since around the beginning of 2014. Which is a long time. This blog as a primary blog has been around since August 2013. But I was around before that too. But with a different url, which I also had on this blog for a while. Anyways, so my url is obviously NeverWholeLahey. Lahey is an obvious reason. It's Isaac's canon last name, since he is a canon muse from the Teen Wolf Fandom. The tv show from around 2010, not the movie from the 80's. Yes I'm old. The other two words, never and whole might not be as obvious.

However, we know in canon that Isaac was abused by his father, for quite a long time. And as I started to get to know my version of Isaac better, I realised that you never heal fully from that kind of trauma. Sure you learn to live with it and deal with it. But you never heal, hence the word never. And in the show you could see some mannerisms that spoke of his trauma, even if the writing of his character started to suck the longer he was in the show. But anyways.

The word whole, it comes from the fact that he lost so many people during the course of the two seasons he was on. I never shipped Allisaac and i never will, but that was a big loss (not for my version of isaac tho since i HATE allison on so many levels and for so many reasons) but he lost the majority of his pack. He lost his very best friend, Erica. He lost Boyd who he'd become friends with thanks to Erica, and the fact that Derek bit them and made them his betas. He lost Derek as his alpha, and he lost him as his protector, especially after he pulled a stunt Isaac's dad would do to push him away. Even if it was to try and keep him safe from the Alpha pack. Yet he was still hurt by the alpha pack. Like so much happened to him, and that's not something that you get over easily.

Hence, NeverWholeLahey.

Out Of Memories, which is my ooc tag and has been since around the same time I changed my url, is for an easy reason. Memories is instead of character. Because to me, Isaac's character has a lot of memories, good and bad. Which is why I consider in character being his memories as I write and he makes new memories. While when it's me, the mun, it's out of memories. Because it's not Isaac. It's just me, the mun, Joi. Who is slightly unhinged and also have memories, of trauma, albeit not as bad as Isaac's. It's probably why i relate to him, and why he's stuck around as my muse for as long as he has.

It was popular to have fancy written out ooc tags back then, which is why i thought of one to start with. Just needed to edit to add that in. I just didn't want to be fancy with a bunch of random symbols and stuff.

Now I'm just rambling. but, it felt nice to actually put this down in words. Something that I've been thinking for like a decade. anyways. ENJOY reading this word vomit.

1: How tall or short do you wish you were? - Honestly I'm pretty happy as I am (5'1). Like does it make buying clothes hard? Yes. Does it make ppl treat me as younger than I am? Yes. Does it make it hard to reach things sometimes? Double yes. But at the same time it means most women are taller than me and that makes everything okay 🏳️‍🌈

3: Do you have a favorite clothing style? - Comfy + casual is the way to go. I like leggings or skirts normally, hate the constraint of normal pants, and oversized t-shirts or sweaters.

5: What three things/people do you think of most each day - Sun, sun, SU- (okay jokes aside I think a lot about this fandom as a whole and how cool it is (and Sun yes), my friends and food of course~)

20: Do you like space or the ocean more? - The ocean (99% bc of Subnautica honestly ;igeghutgrtjvguiotr) It's mind-boggling how much undiscovered life there is down there, how much continues to grow and evolve. Not to mention how much of it is downright beautiful (and terrifying).

I guess I still feel like that a lot of the time, but having online friends helps since there isn't the same social expectation to always smile and keep eye contact, which is something I've always struggled with.
