Money For Nothing.

The Trump Taj Mahal is a closed casino and hotel on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey, United States, owned by Trump Entertainment Resorts, a subsidiary of Icahn Enterprises.

The casino was inaugurated by its then-owner Donald Trump in 1990, and was built at a total cost of nearly one billion dollars. Restaurants at the Taj included Dynasty, Il Mulino New York, Moon at Dynasty, Robert's Steakhouse, and Hard Rock Cafe.

The Taj Mahal came to the brink of closure in 2014 as its parent company went through bankruptcy, but ultimately remained open under the new ownership of Icahn Enterprises. On August 3, 2016, it was announced that the Trump Taj Mahal would close after Labor Day. It closed at 5:59 AM on October 10, 2016.

2014 was a devastating year for Atlantic City, which had to deal with the fallout of an unprecedented four casino hotels closing and a loss of more than 11,000 jobs. Nearly 3,000 workers are losing their jobs with this closure.

Wang Jianlin is a Chinese businessman and philanthropist who has expressed his interest in buying the casino. He is the founder and chairman of Dalian Wanda Group, China's largest real estate developer, as well as the world's largest movie theater operator. He owns 20% of the Spanish football club Atlético Madrid.

Since majority (3/4th) of the casino’s assets had been sold off to recover losses, in order to start operations once again the casino needs to be revamped.

 You have to come up with a revival plan for the ‘Trump Taj Mahal’ as the consultants for the new owner in the form of a Prezi Presentation including-

1)     Problems that led to closure of the casino

2)     Differentiation Strategies to differentiate the hotel from others in Atlantic City

3)     New features, shops or entertainment activities for the hotel

4)     HR Policies & Recruitment

5)     Marketing Strategies- Conventional & Unconventional

6)     New Theme for the casino, with its Layout Blueprint

7)     Psychological Strategies for the Casino

8)     Sources of Fund & Allocation of Funds (Revival Budget)

Niche Market

A niche market is one where all marketing efforts are concentrated on a small but specific and well defined segment of the population. Niches do not 'exist' but are 'created' by identifying needs, wants, and requirements that are being addressed poorly or not at all by other firms, and developing and delivering goods or services to satisfy them. As a strategy, niche marketing is aimed at being a big fish in a small pond instead of being a small fish in a big pond.

Most of you just selected the sector but were not able to sub-segment and go deeper into actually targeting a niche.

Example- If you had selected the sector-engineers, then your target market should have been those firms which would specialize in providing precise solutions to particular engineering problems. They could be specialists in removing underground water from large construction sites, or they could be experts in designing certain types of machinery or software engineer, hardware engineer, electrical engineer etc.

Positioning Statement

Most of the reports had 2-3 paragraphs explaining your positioning, which was not at all required. Positioning is something which can be summed up in one line.

A positioning statement is an expression of how a given product, service or brand fills a particular consumer need in a way that its competitors don’t. Positioning is the process of identifying an appropriate market niche for a product (or service or brand) and getting it established in that area.

In simpler terms, it is how you want people to perceive your company or organisation.

This is a final reminder regarding formatting to you all. Most of the groups even after doing an amazing job are losing out marks on formatting which is the easiest of jobs. From the next round, we will be deducting extra marks for reports which are not formatted properly.
