You know, I hate more than anything the "everyone has kids even though they can't take care of them" trope.
That said, a broken character before terrified by children growing around the idea of having kids even though they don't know how to raise them, putting in the effort because they feel it's worth it and ending up on an healing journey because they want to be better for the kid... *chef's kiss*
#hel is talking#i think the significant difference is one is an ending presented to be the happiest and the other is a full life story worth telling#katniss everdeen is a good example of what i'm talking about tho even though it's the ending#because we can feel why she didn't want kids and the fact that she did after hg's end is proof she healed and felt safe#and felt their kids would be#raising them seem difficult also she mentions peeta's and her ptsd during the epilogue#but “the children don't know they're playing on a graveyard” is both such a sad and positively powerful sentence#well that post wasn't about hunger games but hey it's a good illustration of my point#also before you come at my back i didn't say kids are healing tools but healing *reasons*#of course a child is not responsible for their parents therapy#but a parent taking responsibility for the child's well being ? perfect
