July 2024: Karma and Kitty.

Continuing my Quest to draw various characters from the Marvel Universe here are some Mutants! Specifically Karma (a.k.a Xuân Cao Mạnh) and Kitty (a.k.a Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde).

For those of you who don't know, Karma is a Telepathic Mutant from Vietnam! Who attends the Charles Xavier school for Gifted children. Kitty meanwhile has the ability to phase through Solid matter. The pair eventually becomes a member of the X-Men.

I’ve gotta manually rewire my brain around Kitty Pryde so she can go from Ignorant Anti-Black Radical Activist to Misguided Black Ally so I can better ignore her repeated use of the N-word (the hard R, classic south N-word too for god’s sake) and get through these Marauders issues during the Krakoan Age.

Like at least she’s hanging around with Bishop and Storm loves her. I want try to imagine the intent of her using the N-word less like her belittling Black People/Putting them in their place and more her trying to help her Black allies understand her perspective on a (fictional) slur in the worst way possible.

Jesus Christ I can’t believe she said that shit like 3 times, Chris Claremont what the hell.

I’m mostly doing this because Chris Claremont or Marvel haven’t apologized for doing/approving that shit and I fundamentally can’t get past it. Like girl, please say sike.
