My Kastle Scene Wishlist

I’m not sure what Kastle content we might get in Daredevil Born Again, but there is also talk that they might make a new Punisher show. What are some scenes/parallels that you would like to see between Frank and Karen? Here’s a few of my musings

Reversed Hospital Scene! I would like to see Frank momentarily panic over Karen getting hurt and have a turn holding her hand in a hospital bed. I feel like we deserve this scene so bad. (Caveat: Frank CANNOT be the reason Karen got injured, even if it’s just she got shot in the arm or has a concussion; Karen is in dangerous situations regardless of Frank being near her or not and he needs a wake up call for that). Bonus points for the total opposite of telling her to walk way—this time HE GETS IN THE HOSPITAL BED and puts his arms around her and just holds her and Karen gets to feel completely safe for a few minutes. Just go all out with the hurt/comfort trope for these two. Anyway, I have a whole WIP fic devoted to this, so honestly it has become my top wish to see some parallels drawn with another hospital scene.

Karen gets to help in a fight and shoots someone. I feel like since they never got to have the Wesley conversation, a way to show-not-tell would be for Karen to kill a bad guy and then Frank come check on her to be like, ‘hey are you okay?’and she’d be like, ‘yeah, I am.’ She’d be a bit shaken up but grimly holding it together because it’s not her first time killing someone. This would also work in contrast to the scene where Amy shoots the guy in the hall and then Frank infamously takes the gun from her and takes the responsibility of his death away from her. Sorry to make Karen suffer because I know she’ll feel bad about it, but I’d be okay with seeing her character go a little bit darker to save someone’s life. She’s been carrying that gun since DDs2, she deserves to take out a baddie on her own and it’d be a great segue into rehashing some of her past that Frank NEEDS to know about

Frank meets Paxton Page. Will the show make time for this? Probably not. But damn do I want to know what Frank would say if he knew that Karen’s dad cut off his only daughter, when Frank would do anything—anything—to spend one minute with Lisa again. I’d love to see Frank go to Fagan Corners with Karen to put flowers on her mom and brother’s graves. We spent three seasons of Frank being able to open up around Karen and talk about his family with her. Meanwhile she has never once said anything about the losses she’s suffered. Frank needs to know and I don’t want it all jammed into one big backstory dump where she tells him she killed her brother and Wesley in the same conversation. Another option would be for Frank to accidentally visit Karen on the anniversary of her mom/Kevin’s death and she is having a breakdown. If we can’t get into any of Karen’s past, have Frank find out Karen has his burner phone saved in her contacts listed as Home. I’ve seen that idea in several different fics and it just needs to be canon. They are Home to each other.

A scene where Frank holds Karen all night and they don’t have sex, but it’s profound. (Think like Spike holding Buffy). If they are nervous about comics fans being mad about Frank Castle finding love again, give us some physical intimacy and closeness where you know they mean everything to each other but can’t cross the line and make things real. Fan fic writers will know we won and then fill in the rest for those cowards.

If they’re willing to make Kastle real, give us a goddamn kiss. Actually, just let them have sex, because Karen Page has been forced to stay chaste for YEARS and she deserves to get laid. And Jon Bernthal seems to be more than comfortable doing sex scenes soooo please just make it the most beautiful thing ever filmed because they are so in love with each other. It has to be noticeably different in tone from the scene with Beth. And Karen cannot get shot the next day, don’t even start with any of that bull$hit trauma for Frank.

Kastle pillow talk scene. Since it’s Disney Marvel now, I don’t know how much we can hope for with a sex scene. So the pillow talk scene that follows had better be some life-altering confessions of love and cuddles. Do not even think about him sneaking out before she wakes up like he almost did with Beth. Karen deserves something good to happen to her for once, let her have a perfect night and a gentle, soft morning after. She deserves it even if Frank isn’t sure if he does.

Karen Page and Dinah Madani Friendship. I’m rewatching The Punisher s2 and one thing that pissed me off was the scenes of fake bonding between Dinah and Krista Dumont, drinking wine together and discussing men (Frank and Billy, who else). So. To make up for that, we need some genuine female friendships, like Karen and Dinah going to a shooting range together or gym or going out to a nice bar for girls night. Even if Frank has been keeping his distance, these ladies have struck up a friendship and Karen has someone to hang out with besides her lawyer coworkers.

Karen gets to meet Micro/The Lieberman family AND Curtis. David knows how Frank really feels about Karen. Curtis needs to find out Frank DOES still have something good holding him in this world. And Karen should meet Frank’s friends.

Okay those are some of the scenes I want to see for Frank and Karen! If someone could please get this list to the Punisher writers for the future of the show, it’s actually very important that we get some of this or I’m gonna have to come write for the show myself. 🙈

There was something different about New York City at Christmas time. Maybe it was just the decorations, the lights, the snow. But the city itself felt a little friendlier, a little less ready to punch your lights out than it usually was.

That, or Frank was just in an abnormally good mood.

It was good to be back here, the closest place to something like home that he had, for the second time in the past four years. The first time had been a brief trip to check in with Curtis about a few things, only staying long enough to get the information he needed and crash at his place for the night.

This time would be a longer trip. He was even planning to stop by and visit the Liebermans— which was where he was currently headed. When David had caught wind of the fact he was heading for New York City, he’d immediately insisted Frank stop and visit with them.

It had seemed like a bad idea at first. There was still a target on his back, especially in NYC, and the last thing Frank wanted was to bring trouble to the Lieberman’s door.

However, he wasn’t traveling alone. So he couldn’t really crash on Curtis’s couch this time around.

It was dark when Frank opened his eyes, for once having slept without any nightmares. At least none that he remembered.

He felt like shit. Weak. As if he'd been sick for a long time. The bed had a hospital smell about it, the sheets had that scratchy quality to them. He wasn't cuffed to the bedframe though, or hooked up to anything, which was kinda unusual for him. He didn't feel any wounds or bandages on himself. Nothing hurt. How had he ended up here?

Frank sighed as he ran his hands over his face. The missing memories made him wary, but that could be a temporary effect from a head trauma. He needed to leave this place, while it was still dark. Get back on the road, figure out the rest later. Listening to the low murmurs and random hospital sounds from where the corridor should be, Frank sat up and swung his bare legs to the floor, clenching his eyes shut as he was hit with a bout of dizziness.

"Hey, hey, take it easy, buddy," a perky voice sounded somewhere to his left, and Frank tensed immediately, head snapping to the side.

"Who's there?" Christ, his voice sounded like he hadn't talked in weeks.

"Just me. I think I said I'm Rachel when we met? That's what I told the nurses."

Frank frowned. Rachel. Right, the kid at the bar. The fight. Beth getting hurt, shit. The chase and the motel, and then the sheriff's station. Goddamn it. He remembered that, at least.

"You good, kid? You weren't injured in that mess?"

netflix’s defenders high school AU is coming so soon you guys 👁️ it’s more or less a breakdown of every possible dynamic / pairing in a high school setting but if enough people like it i’d be so game to specifically write fics while referencing lore.

i’ll say right now that matt foggy and karen DID become friends in a way similar to how they did in daredevil .. just without the dead man. i’ll also say underrated friendships like colleen and claire + colleen and jess have a lot of coverage because this fandom doesn’t talk about them enough. ironwing is also very canon ANDNANDAND kastle slowburn + frank and amy do in fact meet and maintain a similar bond:)

"We should get you a white cane," Amy said. "Maybe dark glasses too."

"What's the point of a blind man wearing dark glasses?" Frank growled. He took a careful sip of his coffee and kept his hand wrapped around the mug once he put it down again. "I'm fine."

Amy snorted. "You will need a cane eventually if you want to get around on your own. And it'd be less confusing for everyone else, let them know your blind ass needs some help with description and stuff."

"What?" Amy seemed to have caught his glare. "There's no shame in being disabled. Everyone needs help sometimes."

Frank clenched his jaw and glanced away. Smartass kid thought she knew what she was asking from him. Last he checked, there were no apps for unloading a magazine into some scum that had been asking for it, no friendly passers-by would direct him in a fist fight. And, sure, the whole point of this entire stupid pointless road trip since leaving New York had been to figure out how to live a quiet, civil life, but it had always been about his choice. And now he had none.

"Did you find the Liebermans?" he growled instead.

This fic is for Kastle Week 2024 Day 4: Observations/Through New Eyes

Plot Summary: Karen has a medical emergency and ends up hospitalized. Foggy is surprised by who shows up to see her. In character softness and fluff ensues.

Excerpt:

Leaning by the wall, one foot propped against it, was Frank Castle. His former client. Mass murderer.

He didn’t really look like Frank Castle, but Foggy still recognized him beyond any doubt. He had grown a beard and his hair was slightly longer in kind of a floppy, unkempt fashion. But the way he was dressed made for the least Frank Castle-like appearance Foggy could possibly have imagined. He wore green board shorts and a t-shirt with sunglasses tucked into the collar. A small bouquet of some absolutely lovely long-stemmed white roses was tucked under one arm. And he was wearing flip flops.

Foggy somehow didn’t let his brain melt and instead approached the serial killer. “What the hell are you doing here?”

Frank shrugged. “You called me.”

“What?” Foggy stared at him. Comprehension dawned, but it was like a train derailment— all the cars following one another off the security of their tracks, heading straight for an inexorable disaster. The explosion would certainly follow.

“You called me,” Frank said simply. “So I came.”

Tuning out the music in the background, Frank turned his attention back to the phone he had pressed against his ear. “So, no better plans than to hassle me on Christmas Day?”

He heard Curtis laugh on the other end. “It’s Christmas Eve, man. Besides, it’s the time of year for keeping up on your family. No better time to make sure you’re still above the ground and have your head on straight.”

“Yeah, well, you can rest easy. I’m still eating and everything— gonna have dinner right after this.”

“Oh yeah? Where are you spending the holiday this year?”

“Good question— give me a second.” Covering the receiver, Frank caught the eye of a passing waitress, a girl who couldn’t be much older than seventeen. “Excuse me, miss— what state is this?”

She gave him a weird look. “How do you not know what state you’re in?”

“I’ve been traveling all day.”

“Huh. Well, you’re in Ohio. Such as it is. Welcome, or whatever.” She waved a hand dramatically, then stalked off to the kitchen again.

this one is SO easy. the last of us. i know thats the most recent fandom ive written for but ive technically been writing marvel since then just nothing i've posted. but i still got that time loop that is just begging to be closed. and i forsee a tlou revival in the imminent future bc i lowkey miss it bad. additionally, i want to rewatch lucifer which will probably (maybe?) result in a lucifer era revival (but also maybe not bc the last few seasons left me very satisfied + also i wrote SOOOOOOOOOOO much lucifer fic back the first go around i'm not sure there's anything left)

actually yes! i technically haven't ever written for the punisher (unless we're counting my god awful oc crossovers 💀) and i have a desperate need to write some frank & amy fics because there are like less than 75 of them in their tag and a lot of them are kastle fics (which i also have some ideas for because they also make my brain explode)

🫘 Spill the beans. What's a new project you're doing this year?

i mean....fic wise? i'm not sure i have anything planned fic-wise i'm a pantser mostly when it comes to fics. i do still have the firefighter!ellie au in my back pocket that i have to write. my big personal writing project of the year tho is i'm going to try and write a romcom because that is most definitely out of my comfort zone and i've already been plotting out the bones of a sapphic romcom script (and not new of course but there is always one hit wonder which i have been trying and failing to write for srsly like eight years now and idk i feel like 2024 might be the year she finally gets finished)
