Chepauk Super Gillies vs Siechem Madurai Panthers TNPL 2023
Chepauk Super Gillies are set to take on Siechem Madurai Panthers on Monday, 26 June 2023, at SCF Cricket Ground in the 18th match of TNPL 2023.
In their current campaign, the Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) have emerged victorious in two out of the five matches they have played thus far. However, they suffered three consecutive defeats, which derailed their momentum. The Super Gillies are eager to regain their winning ways and climb back up the standings. The Chepauk Super Gillies currently hold the fourth spot in the tournament. The side enters this contest with an 8-wicket loss against Nellai Royal Kings. They must pull their socks up and do well in this game to improve their position on the points table.
On the other hand, the Siechem Madurai Panthers (SMP) have played just 3 matches so far, winning one and losing two. Even though they have a few more matches to go, they cannot afford to lose more matches. The Seichem Madurai Panthers find themselves in the fifth spot. They have won their previous match convincingly against Salem Spartans by 7 wickets. The Madurai Panthers have shown good form so far, and a win here will put them in a comfortable position.
Match Details:
Date: Monday, June 26, 2023
Time: 7:15 PM IST
Venue: SCF Cricket Ground, Salem
Pitch Report:
SCF Cricket Ground has been a good venue for batsmen as the shorter boundaries and a fast outfield have allowed them to score runs easily at this venue. The wicket can be tough on the fast bowlers as there isn’t much for them. Spinners have done well as the rough surface lets them turn the ball sharply.
Toss Prediction:
In the two matches played at this venue, the team batting second emerged victorious on both occasions. Therefore, the toss-winning captain might choose to bowl first and chase the target later, considering the previous results and the potential advantages of knowing the required run rate while batting second.

Mumbai Indians return to winning ways
Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders Game Summary and Post Match thoughts
Location: Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE
By Vir Kamath
The 5th game of IPL 2020 was played between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. Both sides have a good history and both have a combined total of 6 trophies where 4 belong to MI and 2 belong to KKR.
Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and their captain and former Mumbai Indians player Dinesh Karthik opted to bowl first leaving Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians to bat first. Quinton de Kock got dismissed early once again after hitting a skyer. Since his dismissal Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav put on a good partnership with the bat and hit the KKR bowlers deliveries out of the park. Suryakumar would later fall to a run out by England skipper, Eoin Morgan. Young Saurabh Tiwary and Rohit Sharma also put up a decent partnership with the bat. However Tiwari never got going and got out by a catch. Hardik Pandya then walked to the crease to hit a couple of fours and a six before getting dismissed by hitting his bat on the wicket also known as a hit wicket which was very unlucky. Rohit Sharma continued his fine form with the bat till 80 runs until he got dismissed after mistiming a shot which went straight into the hands of Pat Cummins. It was then up to Pollard and Krunal Pandya to take Mumbai to the decent score as their previous ambitions of hitting more than 200 runs was out of the window. They managed to secure a total of 195 runs leaving KKR to chase 196 to win the game. Kolkata got off to a decent start with Sunil Narine hitting their first six. Kolkata Knight Rider's youngster Shubman Gill also hit a couple of boundaries only to get dismissed by Trent Boult who bowled a bouncer giving the young batsman no option but to hit it over the fielders in the circle but he mistimed his shot and Pollard took a spectacular catch. Not long after Narine also got out after Pattinson bowled a trick delivery which clipped Narine's bat and went straight to the keeper for a catch. Next came former Mumbai Indians player Nitesh Rana who hit Rahul Chahar for a couple of boundaries and put up a half decent partnership with KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik. Rana got out by a spectacular catch by Hardik Pandya which in my opinion could be the catch of the season. Pollard bowled that delivery and secured his first IPL wicket since 2015! Eoin Morgan, the current England skipper who lead them to world cup glory back in 2019 came out to bat along with Dinesh Karthik. However the KKR Skipper found himself back in the pavilion after getting out lbw to Rahul Chahar. Next came KKR's main man Andre Russel, he and Morgan hit a couple of good shots but both got dismissed by you guessed it, Jasprit Bumrah. Russel fell to a classic Bumrah yorker which crashed into the stumps. Morgan followed suit after a thick edge which carried to de Kock. At this point everyone thought it was game over for the Kolkata Knight Riders as all their main batsmen were out. It more or less was until Pat Cummins ruined Bumrah's show after hitting 4 sixes and running between the crease as KKR got 27 runs in that over. At this point KKR just did their best to save themselves from humiliation but eventually lost the game after Pat Cummins got out by his Australian teammate Pattinson and two wickets fell after that to give Mumbai Indians the victory.
Rohit Sharma wins MOTM after a brilliant innings with the bat!
This game was pretty dull to be honest ever since KKR came out to bat. KKR in my opinion just are not the same team as they used to be 2 or 3 years ago when they convincingly defeated all their opponents and are probably just missing that one good player which offers creativity. Their team yesterday mostly revolved around youngsters who are talented but they need the motivation and passion from the experienced players which is currently missing. On the other hand Mumbai Indians broke the jinx of not winning games in the United Arab Emirates and returned to winning ways this season and just ruled out any chances of KKR winning the game. If they can continue their form they have a chance of securing their 5th IPL title. I think the MOTM or Man of the Match would have to go to Rohit Sharma who hit KKR's bowlers out of the park with some beautiful sixes and also led his team to victory by making the right rotation with the bowlers who eventually did the job for MI. Before I end I would like to point out a star duo in the making in the MI squad. That is the duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult. Both took 2 wickets each and their phase is deadly. Most batsman would have nightmares facing them be it in IPL games or International matches. Well played MI and a tough fixture against RCB next in Dubai!

#825 CSK lost a match which they should have won against KKR; They scored just 14 runs between 14-19th over which was ridiculous which included 7 dot balls by Jadhav; Rahul Tripathi and Sunil Narine shine; RCB humiliated by strong DC team; MI outclass RR in another one sided game; Nadal sets up SF with Schwartzman who shocked US open champion Thiem in 5 set thriller; Tsitsipas cruises to SF ; Podoroska , Swiatek, Kvitova and Kenin reach SF in ladies section; Liverpool and Manu embarrassed in EPL; Barca held by Sevilla in La Liga and more..:-)
After winning 2 consecutive games, RCB confidence was high . Virat won the toss and chose to field against DC which was a wrong move. Prithvi Shaw and Dhawan had a great start as they had 68 run stand to set the platform. RCB came back well to reduce DC to 92-3 in 12 overs from 68-0. Stoinis special and 2 dropped catches by RCB changed the momentum. DC scored 104 runs of last 8 overs which included 26 ball 53 by Stoinis. That was 20 runs too many in Dubai pitch. DC were all over RCb as they reduced RCB to 43-3 which included Finch and ABD’s wicket. Though Virat tried hard, RCB never got momentum to chase big score. Start is very important for chasing 180plus scores and RCB fell short by 59 runs. Rabada was star with 4-24 spell. He grabbed 4-fer in last match against RCB too. RCB would have their task cut out as they next face CSK. They need to win else momentum could have major shift. Momentum is very important in IPL. Once you lose it, it slips away like sand in hand.
MI faced RR in next match. Suryakumar Yadav finally came to form. His classy 47 ball 79 and cameos by Rohit and Hardik helped MI to 193-4. 53 runs came in last 3 overs. RR like RCB never got going. Butler played a lone hand with 44 ball 70. Bumrah grabbed 4-fer like Rabada against RCB. His yorkers are getting accurate which is good news for MI and India as well since they would travel to Australia tour right after IPL.
CSK faced KKR in Abu Dhabi. Rahul Tripathi shined as his 51 ball 81 helped KK to 167. They looked set for 190 at one stage. DK, Russell and Morgan didn’t fire in middle order and that meant KKR would be 20 runs less than what they wanted. Mavi dismissed Faf early on for 17. CSK 30-1. Watson looked in great form though. They ended powerplay at 54-1. They looked set for another big win. Rayadu and Watson had a 69 run stand to take CSK closer to victory. Nagarkoti dismissed Rayadu for 30 and Narine dismissed Watson for 50. CSK 101-3 all of a sudden. KKR bowled tight for few overs. It came down to 64 from 6 overs and 48 from 4 overs. Sam Curran hit Narine for a six and a four to ease the pressure on CSK. It came down to 44 from last 4 overs. MSD hit Varun for a four . He tried to slog sweep Varun the next ball and got castled. CSK 129-4. They needed 39 runs from 21 balls. Jadhav couldn’t hit run for remaining of 16th over. 39 needed from 18 balls. Andre Russell came onto bowl for the first time. He dismissed Sam Curran of the very first ball. 3 singles and 2 dot balls followed. 36 needed from last 2 overs. What a turnaround this has been. Jadhav hit a boundary of Narin’s over to bring target to 31 from 10 balls. Jadeja hit another boundary later in the over but it was no where enough. 26 needed from last over. CSK have messed up the chase. Can Jadeja create some magic? Jadhav just couldn’t get the ball outside inner circle He faced another 2 dot balls. Match was over by then. KKR won the match by 10 runs. CSK scored just 14 runs between 14-19 overs which was ridiculous. Strategy of Dinesh Karthik to keep Russell and Narine for death seems to be a master stroke.
In Roland Garros, Kvitova continued her good form as she beat Zhang in 4th round and Siegemund in QF in straight sets to setup SF clash with Australian open champion Kenin. Kenin beat Collins in 3 sets in QF. Other half of the draw had series of upsets. Argentine Podoroska stunned Svitolina in straight sets to storm to SF. She became first Argentine player to reach SF in French open Sabatini. She also became first unseeded player to reach French open SF in open era. She would face Swiatek in SF. She beat Halep in 4th round and Trevisan in QF. Winner of Kvitova and Kenin SF could well win the slam. In Mens section, Nadal beat Sinners in straight sets 7-6 6-4 6-1. Sinners served for first set at 6-5 and lead 3-1 in 2nd but lost. Nadal match was ended midnight and was played at 9 degrees. That is real hard environment to play in. Nadal would meet Schwartzman in SF who beat Thiem in 5 set 308 minute thriller 7-6 5-7 6-7 7-6 6-2. Match had as many as 19 breaks of serve. Thiem looked tired in final set. In 4th set Schwartzman was serving for the set at 5-3 but Thiem levelled back. He should have won that set and match from there. Once he lost 4th set, he lost steam. In other half of the draw, Tsitsipas outclassed Dimitrov and Rublev in straight sets to storm to SF. He was 2 sets down in first round. He has come a long way since then. He would face winner of Djokovic – Busta match. Djokovic had lost to Busta in SF thanks to disqualification. Hope he keeps his calm this time around.
EPL had a shocker Sunday. Liverpool who looked unbeatable in EPL last 18 months were embarrassed by Aston Villa 2-7. Watkins scored hat-trick for Aston Villa. Aston Villa had to fight to stay out of bottom 3 relegation zone last season. This would give them great confidence. If this was not enough, Kane and Son Heung Min combined to hand Manu 6-1 defeat. Spurs were very impressive in this match. ManU have dug themselves to a deep hole this season too. They don’t have any form or rhythm. Barca were held to 1-1 draw by Sevilla.

With Kohli off strike, Nawaz had Pandya caught in shut with a miscued slog to interrupt a 113-run partnership. Kohli was bowled off the free hit on the subsequent ball however the ball rattled for 3 byes off the stumps. With two balls left and two runs required, Nawaz had Dinesh Karthik stumped however bowled a large on what would have been the final ball of the over. Ashwin cleared the in-field with a relaxed end to finish the win, sending Indian followers right into a frenzy. Aaron Finch was looking impregnable as he was playing shots each around the demesne and went on to score his half- century. Steve Smith was dismissed cheaply with Glenn Maxwell getting quick 23 runs but was undone by Bhuvneshwar in the 16th over. India also put thickets on the run rate and kept getting lattices at regular intervals. Finch was dismissed by a brilliant slower one from Harshal Patel for well- made 76 runs in the 19th over.
Tim David and Pat Cummins came victims of some remarkable fielding by the former Indian commander Virat Kohli who changed the game in no time. With 11 demanded in the last over, Rohit handed over the ball to Shami, and the leader well and truly proved his captain's decision a master stroke.
India got 4 lattices in the last 4 balls of the match as Australia fell 6 runs short in their first warm-up match at the Gabba. India will be pleased with the bowling performance in the after half of the Aussie innings especially Shami who might have cemented his place in the starting eleven.
