Day 4: Favorite Species/Nature
You might have noticed but I LOVE the demon clan. It was kind of a challenge getting everyone on one pic but it was fun. The nature is....the lightning in the background... at least least something lol

I agree. Poor Mel has horrible, horrible trust issues. I think he wants to trust Elizabeth and the Sins, but he just can't. He's been let down and/or betrayed so many times that even if he starts off telling himself "these are my friends/love of my life, I can trust them. They're going to come through for me. We're going to do this", in the end, he shies away from trusting them and goes down the I'll-do-it-myself-so-I-don't-have-to-worry-something-going-wrong-and-they-end-up-hurt route. I think he'd rather mess up himself and have the consequences on him rather than have his friends help him and they get hit with the consequences as well. Of course, the consequences still affect them, with how heartbroken Elizabeth was when he died, Merlin being turned to stone because Mel didn't tell her about Galand's Commandment beforehand, deciding not to finish Fraudrin off when he had the chance in Danafor and then Dreyfus getting possessed and everything that happened in Liones, Zeldris losing Gelda, etc. But at least they're alive and things can get better. If they're dead, there's no fixing things, there's no second chances in that case.
As for Elizabeth and Meliodas's relationship, I agree that Mel doesn't exactly trust her to take care of herself or really rely on her for much. But that's to be expected, with the curse. Before the curse, it seemed as though Meliodas trusted in Elizabeth's abilities very much. As shown in the flashback/training arc for Diane and King:
1. Meliodas took Elizabeth with him, Gloxinia, and Dolor to fight the Demon horde. And he didn't even stay by her side throughout the fight either. He jumped right into the battle and left Elizabeth to take care of herself (which she DID). By the time Meliodas was done with his half/however many Demons he killed, and with Karmadios, Elizabeth had already gotten the rest of them to retreat with whatever empathy power she has. Point is, he didn't feel the need to constantly look after and protect her like he does now, where he's worried if he takes his eyes off he for one second, she's going to die. If this were in the current manga (well, maybe not the CURRENT manga, considering what's going on, but before Eli regained her memories and Mel lost his emotions), Meliodas would not have allowed Elizabeth to fight on her own, no matter how strong he knows she is.
2. The fight against the Indura. Now, yes, I know Mel ended up stepping in here–but it's important when and why he stepped in. Right before Eli started to fight the Indura, Mel picked her up after she'd been knocked unconscious. He told her it was okay, that she could leave the rest to him–not because he didn't think she could do anything, but because she was so upset by what Ludoshel had done and how he'd used her, he just wanted to give her time to calm down and regroup. But she ran off and fought anyway. And Meliodas didn't get involved in her fight until it was clear the Archangels weren't going to give her the same courtesy. And he never even really fought the AA, he just drew the line in the sand and said "cross it, and you'll be dealing with me".
(We also never see him grope OG Elizabeth, but that's beside the point.)
Anyway, it's just that after centuries of watching her die, Mel just can't allow her to fight her own battles anymore, knowing it might mean he'd lose her AGAIN. Also, he knows she 1) is massively reduced in power and can't pull off the stuff her Goddess self could and 2) can't fight the curse.
Not sure if this is really a headcanon? Maybe more of an opinion? But I totally feel like Zeldris would make a much better S/O than Meliodas. I love Mel but I just feel like Zel would be the better option. I don’t doubt people will disagree though 🤷🏼‍♀️
I personally agree with you. But then I’m biased lol.
The reason I think this is because I don’t feel that Meliodas is straight with Elizabeth. I understand why, and I don’t blame him for wanting to protect her from the curse, but he could have been a bit nicer about it for me. That chapter just before the curse reveal (I forget the exact number, maybe 221?) he hurt her pretty badly. She is a bit of a crier at that point in the manga but I think most women would have cried after that conversation. Same with when he said she could not come with them to Camelot after the defeat of Hendrickson. Now that may be because he knows this is the best way to protect her from the curse, he has many years experience of this, but it felt unnecessarily cold to me. Why not say, “I can’t tell you why but this is for your own good, please trust me.” Elizabeth Liones I am sure would have gone along with that. I wouldn’t want an SO personally who behaved this way.
But both of them are committed to the women they love that is clear. And it could be argued that it isn’t fair to judge them by the same standards. They have both been through hell but watching the woman you love die 106 times and not be able to do anything about it is going to affect your mental health and perspective, and that will influence your behaviour.
I also don’t believe Meliodas when he told Elizabethin Camelot that he does not love her. He is suffering and he is lashing out. I personally think it is a case of cognitive dissonance reduction - he wants it to be true so his brain does these gymnastics so he actually believes it. It’s the same as sour grapes: I cannot reach these grapes therefore they taste horrible. Or, I cannot live a life of peace with this woman therefore I do not love her. He has suffered a lot, I’m personally prepared to give him a bit of a pass for this.
But yeah, in summary I totally agree.

Hmm could see Nakaba has Kalmadios transform into a Indura beast. Only to have the last Archangel destroy him.
I wonder if Karmadios has permission to use it, it might depend on that but it’d be interesting. Since Karmadios is dead and has been replaced in the current ranks of the Commandments I think he was always considered weak (at least I didn’t think much of him) but it’d be cool if he was actually really powerful and could become an Indura

The Cast of the Holy War
Finally we have a new chapter upon us! And... Somehow MS quality dropped a great deal...? Well, it’s readable at least. And we didn’t get a chapter cover, maybe Nakaba-sensei wasn’t fit enough to draw one after all...
I was surprised that we started off with Helbram, it’s been a while since we’ve seen him! And to my surprise Gloxinia can see him... I’m not sure about Drole since he’s not a fairy king and I doubt it’s just a matter of power who is able to see him and who isn’t. Diane and King don’t have that much of a hard time against Karmadios but still, they had to fight him seriously and in the end Meliodas reflected his attack and helped them out. I think he did the most damage with his Full Counter out of those three. I didn’t expect Gloxinia to have his tentacles even when he wasn’t a demon yet though. They look so demonic that I thought he gained that ability only after he was demonized... Well then. In the end they only sent him back where he came from. I was also a bit surprised by the fact that Karmadios was... well, surprised to see Meliodas fighting against him. I have a theory about that but I will speak about that later. In the meanwhile Beth took care of the rest of the demons all by herself. At first I thought she actually fought them off and is really powerful but she actually just TALKED them out of it! Well, THAT is awesome! Though I wonder if it’s really only talking or a magic power that helps her to do that. Something like... connecting her heart with that of the others, showing them what she feels, that she wants peace and she resonates with them. She said it herself, none of them really wanted the war either. It’s also possible she has a general power that calms her enemies and actually makes them listen to her. Or take away their rage and evil thoughts, just kinda... purify them. Or, and I think this is the least likely... she has a power that forces others to listen to her, like brainwashing, making them think the same way as her. But her power most likely was the reason she was able to get the demons to withdraw by simply talking to them. Anyway, that was kinda epic! Now that the group that was under attack was saved their... leader? (he looks a lot like Ban) asks them to join their group, which is called Stigma. It appears their head quarters is in the Fairy King’s Forest and they’re actually a quite large group consisting of a lot of giants and fairies, and also a few goddesses. I expected them to be much smaller tbh. I just wish King and Diane would at least TRY to play their roles? King isn’t that bad since he’s generally a bit more reserved so people are just gonna think he had a bad day but Diane is just acting like she would normally, you’d think she’d be a bit more cautious...  I also didn’t expect Nerobasta to be an ally. In general I have a looooot of questions about the members of Stigma... I’m not trusting Law yet either. His joining the group seemed a bit too fast. I could be wrong here but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was the one that leaked the information of the place being attacked in order to make Stigma come there to help then and then join them... or rather, infiltrate them. I’ll be on the lookout for more suspicious behavior at least. Last but not least we have one of the four Arch Angels Ludociel. And by the reactions we get from the other characters we can also tell that Beth isn’t one of the Arch Angels. They do both have four wings but Beth doesn’t seem to be as powerful and also not as revered as Ludociel. While she is the leader of their group Beth doesn’t seem to have much of a say. Meliodas doesn’t seem to be all too fond of his leader though and I can definitely see why. She doesn’t think the same way as Beth, she doesn’t want to end the war by making peace with them but by exterminating the enemy. I have a theory as to what will happen or how this flashback will end. As I said before, I was a bit surprised Karmadios didn’t think of Meliodas as an enemy until he hit back with Full Counter. Meliodas too seemed to be sorry about that, it wasn’t that he wanted to hurt or even kill Karmadios. He just wanted to fight back and keep him away. Meliodas, Beth, Gloxinia and Drole are probably the ones that want to deal with the matter as peacefully as possible. They know there will be fighting but they don’t want to kill enemies meaninglessly. Meliodas is not an enemy of the demon clan, he’s still a part of them, he only wants to end the war and thus save them too but he can’t do that as long as he’s with them. There’s also that thing that he has to somehow save Beth from something, so there’s two reasons why he joined Stigma. Ludociel on the other hand is not interested in peace, she completely wants to erase the demon clan from existence and have more power to herself and/or the goddess clan in general. So my theory as to what roughly will happen is as follows. Ludociel follows her plan to exterminate the demon clan (possibly including Meliodas?) and a small group of characters (minimum is Meliodas and Beth) creates their own plan and acts against her, splitting themselves off of Stigma. Or staying with them but planning their own plan in secret. Anyway, in the end they don’t have much time left because Ludociel’s plan is advancing fast and their only way to keep the demon clan from being exterminated is to seal them away. Now, as to how they did it... To seal a whole clan a lot of power is needed and the seal did result in the goddesses losing their physical bodies as we all know so why would the goddesses that are most likely following the Arch Angels (and we know Nerobasta fell into slumber as well even though she seemed to be pretty loyal) go against an Arch Angel’s orders and seal the demon clan instead of following his plan? My answer is: Beth’s magic. If her power is speaking to the hearts of people, she may have been able to talk to all of the goddesses and persuaded them to seal the demon clan instead of killing them, with herself being the center of the seal, causing her to reincarnate over and over again to make sure the seal remains intact. I still think Beth isn’t able to persuade people who don’t have the same thought in them somewhere. Like, she was able to make the demon army retreat because deep inside they wanted peace too, they agreed with her deep down. And I think if that’s what Beth’s magic is that will be the requirement for her power to work. Anyway, that’s it from me this week. It’s been a while since my last review, it feels a bit weird haha

Calmadios is strongerr than I expected him to be. Though he be killed for sure Could Nakaba have Ludociel easily kill him to show the Archangels superiority?
Well, he is a Commandment after all. The other two who died were pretty much cannon fodder though so I see where you’re coming from.Yeah, actually that’s a good idea. We know he isn’t a Commandment anymore so he must’ve died and since he dies anyway, it’s the perfect opportunity to show off the power of an Archangel.

Could Calmadios still be alive and sealed inside the Coffin of eternal darkness?
We didn’t see him die but if he didn’t die there would be no reason for him not to be part of the Commandments now. So either he died or he betrayed the demon clan and it didn’t look like he’d betray them.

Could Carmadios be a former Giant?
I wouldn’t foreclose it. I can’t really make out if the horns are part of the helmet or part of his body... It does look like they’re connected to the helmet but they also look connected to the head at the same time and I don’t know if there are giants with horns. But his size is about the same as Drole, similar to Drole he has a few more arms than usual AND at least in one panel he could be seen wearing the same type of bracelet as Drole. There are quite a few connecting points and since we’ve seen transforming giants into demons is possible... He could be a former giant too.

1/3. To go back to theory [The seven chosen of Zeldris], for Merlin I realized that I had forgotten a candidate with great potential: Caith/Baruja. We do not know yet if it's the same person but:
2/3. Baruja is a former comrade of Galan and he could as such take back the Truth. Caith is related to Arthur, and plays a role close to Merlin: there could be a rivalry at the end? Caith may have his own plans for Arthur. And then Galan brought the destruction to Camelot, which also loop back with Arthur.3/3. In this configuration for the seven chosed we would get: [Piety: Zeldris Vs Meliodas], [Charity: Estarossa Vs Escanor], [Repose: Chandler Vs King], [Faith: Cusack Vs Ban], [Patience: Carmadios Vs Diane], [Pacifism: Grayroad (new form?) Vs Gowther] and [Truth: Caith/Baruja Vs Merlin].
It’s not Caith but Cath if anything. And if he’s an enemy Arthur will be an enemy too. And Karmadios is still most likely dead. Nobody knows where Baruja is and even if someone did... Baruja is not someone that can be controlled, he lost the control over his body and is acting purely on instinct. I highly doubt he could be used as a Commandment in battle.

Hmmm Zeldris isn't the leader . For example if something happened to Meliodas . Then Zaratras had to join instead of Meliodas. At most he'll acting as the leader but he's not the leader
If something happened to Meliodas and Zaratras joined then they’d all decide who’s gonna be the leader and it might be Zaratras or it might be Diane or whoever. Replacing him doesn’t mean he’s gonna assume the same position. Zeldris also didn’t replace Meliodas but Karmadios who definitely wasn’t the leader. I doubt the other Commandments would listen to him that much if they didn’t see him as the leader. Maybe he isn’t as respected as Meliodas was but that doesn’t neccessarily change that he’s probably the leader

What was Meliodas' commandment when he was the leader of the tc? Pacifism? Nah, he is standing on a mountain of corpses on that chapter cover. And i just don't see evil Mel being Repose and especially not Patience.
But Pacifism is the only one that’s left. Gloxinia and Drole are confirmed to be the replacements of Zeno and Aranak, which means they had Repose and Patience. Karmadios has Piety so the only commandment that’s left for Meliodas would be Pacifism.I’m pretty sure he had a way around getting inflicted by his own commandment though I have no idea what that could be. Except for the demon king making him immortal... After all, in all those years Meliodas didn’t physically change at all. Yet after only a few years of being cursed he “noticed” that he was not aging as if that was something unnormal for him. The only explanation I have for that is that while he was under the demon king’s influence he didn’t age. So when he wasn’t under his influence anymore and should have aged normally it was weird that he didn’t change at all.

Zeldris the executioner
As expected Diane/Drole decides to fight for Gowther and give him time to do whatever he plans to stop the war. But… let’s just say it didn’t go so well… I was a bit skeptical if Drole would be able to uphold a fight against Zeldris but nope, it didn’t even come to a fight. Zeldris knocked Diane over in an instant with a far greater power than Karmadios and on top of it sealed Drole’s magic power so he couldn’t do anything anymore and Zeldris leaves him with a choice… Either die or join the Commandments. So in both cases… Diane wouldn’t be able to get back. Clearly Diane had to chose the hidden third option which was to just run away XD” It’s a good thing Zeldris wasn’t yet a Commandment and his curse wasn’t able to keep Diane from running. Instead Zeldris borrowed the power of the demon king himself. I’m not sure if that’s a permanent thing or if the demon king just lent him his power to get original Gowther back. But it sounds like a permanent thing, kinda like how original Gowther used Gowther as his puppet since he couldn’t move. We also get to know a little more about Drole. He really was a singularity in the giant clan which is probably also what Meliodas meant back then when he said something about Drole being “betrayed by the people he trusted” or something? I don’t remember it clearly. I mean obviously his skin color is different, he has more arms than the other giants, his body is bigger and he has magic eyes (his eye was already missing back then so when exactly was it taken from him??) All in all this chapter was kinda eventless so I’m not sure what to write about… But, the flashback is finally over! Quite a bit earlier than expected. And King and Diane are canon! I really thought Nakaba would pull some bullshit again but they kissed! THEY KISSED! And it was as unorthodox as their whole relationship, I loved it! It was really cute.

ok so what commandment do you think Meliodas had when he was a commandment?
Well, with Zeno and Aranak being Repose and Patience, and Karmadios being confimed for Piety and all the other Commandments being already there that only leaves Meliodas with Pacifism.

So Fraudrin replaced Gowther, Zeldris replaced Karmadios, Gloxina and Drole replaced Aranak and Zeno. So all that is left is Greyroad replacing Meliodas. Meliodas was the 'do not kill' commandment?
Apparently yes
