Sorry, I'm so sorry this took so long to answer 🥲🥲 My thesis is killing me y'all, but here's what I came up with:

Okay, realistically I don't think Mikey would try for a significant other at this time in the story, but IF he did have one:

-You'd be the one he cannot lose. No matter what he might think is best for you and everyone else, no dark impulse could ever allow him to let you go.

-You made sure that he knew you weren't going anywhere. Despite all his efforts to make you believe you deserved someone better, you fought to be by his side.

-With Mikey changing so fast, not only was it concerning, but it scared you that one day he might lose himself completely.

-So you stay, and struggle to keep whatever's left of your Mikey intact. You spoil him, and try to be whoever or whatever he needs, at times even at the risk of your own sanity.

-See, Mikey loved to ride at night, at ungodly hours. Those were the times he'd feel his brother and Baji's presences the most, riding and laughing alongside him. And, since you're his person, he made sure to take you along too. Doesn't matter if you were asleep or tired, you're coming.

-Yet no matter how much you hate waking up to his roaring engine just outside your window, you couldn't help but treasure the night rides. They're the only moments when you can feel "Manjiro", the boy you fell in love with, the boy who, day by day, you can feel slipping from your fingers like sand.

-You can never see his face during the ride, but he talks to you. Slow, deep, sincere. He tells you fond stories of his childhood, of Baji, Shinichiro, and sometimes even Sanzu. And you knew, everytime he says their name, that he's smiling.

-His voice gave you hope, that maybe you wouldn't lose him in the dark, or that things will be as they should someday. That maybe if you loved him enough, it would be okay.

-But that sliver of hope wavered like a leaf in autumn, battered against everything that's changing so fast. Mikey pushed, no, beat his friends away. He pummeled more people by the day, the light in his eyes fading faster with each body added to the pile.

-It was at that time, fear started to poison the love you had for Mikey. The more violent he became, the more fear festered within you. Painful. Suffocating. Threatening. He would crawl beside you at night, blood all over his hands and face, only to kiss and hold you as if nothing happened. As if the reddish brown blots on your sheets and skin didn't make you sick.

-Forming Kantomanji was the last straw. He'd done it again, claimed an entire prefecture with his unparalleled strength. Nobody's tried to stop him, nobody could. This time, not even you.

-Sanzu stuck to him like a bad smell, always arranging fights to keep smaller gangs in line. Made Mikey more bloodthirsty than he already was. And gradually got you out of the picture.

-It only took Mikey, in his fraying stupor, to aim his fist at you before you decided enough was enough. You looked into his eyes that very moment, heart shattering to see the confusion, the anger, the fear within them when he finally realized who he was about to hit. He looked every bit a scared child.

-But you just couldn't reach out and hold him anymore. Couldn't tell him it was okay, because it's not. The Mikey you know would never lay his hands on a girl, much less you. That was when you knew it was time to choose.

-Stay with Mikey and watch him be reduced to the monster everyone thinks he is? Risk losing your own mind and live in pain, knowing your love couldn't keep him together?

-Or put yourself first for once, and walk away before he goes far enough to go through with hurting you?
