Tears raced down the delicate skin of Dongho’s cheeks as he fell to his knees in front of you, his long-term partner, and reached out to him. His vision was blurry and his lungs felt as if they were going to collapse in on themselves the moment he let out another mangled cry.

“Please, don’t do this,” Dongho cried out, his fingers curled around the sleeve of your sweater, “I don’t know if I can survive without you.”

You paused for a moment, your hand on the doorknob, heart twisting around in your chest. You sighed, gently shaking Dongho’s loose grasp on the soft fabric free, “I have to go. I can’t stay here anymore, love.”

Dongho’s voice cracked as he whispered, “but, why? What did I do wrong?”

“It’s nothing you did,” you began, crouching down to be level with Dongho’s shaking frame, “but I can’t tell you the reason why I’m going. You’ll figure it out in your own time.”

“That doesn’t make any sense!” Dongho exclaimed. You brushed some of the stray tears off of the older boy’s cheeks.

“It won’t for a while, but I promise you, when the time comes, you’ll learn. You’ll be able to accept it. For now, you just need to learn how to cope without me.”

With that, you rose to your feet and walked out into the night, never bothering to look back.

They say people learn to get over heartbreak, that there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel during every breakup. But that certainly was not the case for Kang Dongho. Many nights he found himself tossing and turning in the sheets, longing for your gentle touch, or staying up for days on end doing absolutely nothing except for crying.

Three months have passed now since the love of his life walked out with no rhyme or reason, and Dongho was still trying to make sense of it all. But no matter what scenario or event came to his head, nothing added up right. He often found himself tugging angrily at his hair.

The same night that you left, he began writing letters. Ones with words of his love for you. How beautiful you are and how brightly you shine compared to the rest of the stars in the sky. Reminiscing on the good memories he had, like the time that you tried making pancakes for him and ended up almost burning the house down.

But he also wrote letters that were stained with tears, where the ink was smudged from his shaky hands or lost track of where his sentences were going. They were never filled with anything hateful, but rather with confusion, hurt, and anger.

Why? Why did you decide to leave him when he thought he needed you the most? Why did you hesitate before you walked through the door? Where were you now? Was the address he was writing on the envelopes even correct?

He always mailed them out, but he never once got a response. Every time he stepped foot into the post office, the clerks looked at him with sympathy. Whether it be because of the way his cheeks were sunken in or how his eyes were always swollen from constantly sobbing, he didn’t know. He just hated the stares.

Now, he was sitting on the couch, his legs crossed, and wide awake. His hands were clasped over his stomach, glossy eyes trained on the ceiling, and his bottom lip held tightly between his teeth.

It was your two year anniversary.

The moment he woke up, he couldn’t help but think about you and where you were going. Your sweet words rang through his head, which only gave him a migraine in the end. He couldn’t bear the thought of doing anything for the day. He almost wished he could sleep forever.

But he couldn’t. He refused to waste the day when instead, he could be making your favorite meal and celebrating on his own, whether you were there or not. Maybe after doing so, he would feel better. He could certainly hope.

A little later, he found himself at the dinner table, staring at your empty seat behind the vase of morning glories he picked up from the store earlier while quietly spooning cajun pasta into his mouth. He huffed a defeated sigh, allowing the fork to fall from his hand onto the table with a bang.

Pushing himself away from the table, he walked to what used to be your shared bedroom without bothering to clean up the mess he’d made. He sank down onto the edge of the bed, his shoulders slumped, and buried his face in his hands. Was this ever going to get easier?

Just as he was about to lay down, he was able to hear your daily reminder in his head, “be sure to take your medicine, Dongho, it’s important.”

Absently, he grabbed the pill bottle off of his nightstand and stared at the label. Olanzapine. He knew his doctor told him what it was for, but he didn’t understand why. The label never indicated anything either.

Allowing his curiosity to get the best of him, Dongho typed in the name of his medicine on his phone and scanned over the definition of what it was used to treat.

Olanzapine can be used to treat mental disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Dongho tilted his head at the word ‘schizophrenia.’ He was almost positive that’s what his doctor told him he had, but he couldn’t remember. He continued on with another search.

Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that affects less than one percent of the population. When schizophrenia is active, symptoms can include delusions, hallucinations, and trouble with thinking.

Upon reading the definition, Dongho threw his phone across the room, a loud yell ripping at his lungs as fresh, hot tears stung at his eyes. This is what you meant when you said he would figure it out on his own. This is what you meant when you didn’t answer his questions. This is why you left him in the first place.

You were never real to begin with.

As the afternoon sun cast long shadows through Mira's bedroom window, Baekho watched her with a mixture of awe and possessiveness. It was strange, being around all these handsome boys. All these kids, they were all hoping to be put in a group and debut. To become the next pop idol. That's what I want too, but as I stared at these people, I realized that they had so much more potential than I ever could.

This was going to be a real trial. And I haven't even seen the women that are aspiring idols. What in the world have I gotten myself into?

'Cool your jets Choi Minki. You were picked for a reason. You have great potential. You'll be able to do this. Remember, it's your passion!'

Taking a deep breath, I moved through the room to meet my fellow coworkers. I know I wasn’t the youngest amongst the people, but it was hard. I introduced myself to everyone, calling everyone hyung until I knew what age they were. It turned out most of them were my hyungs. They were nice though, very welcoming. I don’t know why I thought they would be mean or stuck up. After all, we were all in the same boat.

Sure it was a competition really. The best looking, the best dancer, the best singer, they would be the ones to be placed in a group. It was a competition to outshine the others and the more people you stepped on, the more likely it was that someone would be placed. As horrible as it sounds, it’s what had to be done; it’s what I knew I had to do.

I’m not a violent person, well not all the time at least, so being mean wasn’t the first thing that came to be. I truly wished for the best for everyone. But would my good wishes cost me my change in the future?

Sighing, I took a seat on an empty couch, watching as everyone went about, mingling, exchanging numbers, trying to form their own groups. I had gotten a few, but I felt a bit unpopular. I was young, and I probably looked naïve too. Why would they even think I could be in competition with them?

I felt weight next to me and turned, staring at another. He looked just as down and lonely as I was.

“Hello.” I greeted him formally. “My name is Choi Minki.”  The male looked at me with this weird expression on his face. I sat there, waiting for his reply, but he never said anything, so I tried again, repeating my introduction, thinking this guy was just a bit slow. This time, he spoke and I realized why he had such a strange look on his face. I didn’t understand a thing he was saying.

Correction, I understood ‘Hi’. I think this guy was American. He was speaking English. But not Korean. Why would an English speaking American be here? And how come no one taught him Korean before allowing him to become a trainee? I simply nodded my head and turned from the other.

“Hey there.”

Glancing up, I stared at the person who greeted me. He was…scrawny looking to say the least, but he certainly looked old. I’m not entirely sure what I think about this person. Friendly, obviously, otherwise he wouldn’t be over here talking to me. And he liked to smile a lot.

“Kang Dongho.” He said with a slight bow. I returned it and gave a small, shy smile.

“Choi Minki.”

“It’s nice to meet you.” He said. “I’ve seen you walking around. Isn’t this great?” he asked.

Great? Well, I suppose it was. It was a little off-putting too, but Dongho obviously didn’t share my same thoughts of competition. “Yeah, I guess.” Looking around, I stared at the other people, taking in their appearance, their body language. Many of these people…they would need a lot of work.

“So, Choi Minki.” He started, snapping me from my thoughts. Turning, I stared back at him. He was still smiling. What was he, a clown?

“So, Kang Dongho.” I replied, making him laugh. His laughter was, well I’m not sure. But it made me smile and gave me a fuzzy feeling inside. A feeling I’ve never felt before. I wonder why.

“Do you want to exchange numbers?”  He asked. He had a nervous look on his face like I might say no. Well, I could if I wanted to, but there was just something about him. I couldn’t say no to him.

“Sure.” I said and smiled and pulled out my cell phone. It was a simple flip phone. It didn’t do much. The internet usage sucked on it, but all I really needed it for was calling my parents and texting my friends from school. It worked for me.

“Wow, what a dinosaur.” My head turned and I looked around for a moment before stopping. I was seriously looking for a dinosaur. Why? Then I realized, he was talking about my phone, if the heated stare at it was any indication.

“Maybe.” I said as I worked on putting his name in my contacts.

“Maybe? It sure the hell is! You need a phone upgrade.” He said, flashing his smartphone. Well, not all of us could be rich and afford such nice luxuries. I wanted to tell him that, but instead, I bit my tongue. He was silent then, and I wasn’t sure if he realized how rude his words were. No consideration. He had to be a hyung with such a careless lack of consideration for the person he was talking to.

“One day.” I answered. He gave a small nod and we exchanged our numbers. Once his number was stored away, I stood. “Well, it was nice to meet you.” I said curtly, with a small bow. Turning I walked away, leaving the other in a stupor. I don’t know why I acted so cold, I’m not that kind of person. Y/N prepare for the video call event even though she has no any clue who the man is and what is the event about and she just set her laptop in to her room and she ready herself for the event and then someone called her and she answered it.

At first no one is showing its face, she just saw a poster of Nu’est’s recent comeback song I’m in trouble and a chair in front of the camera.

“ Mwo? Is this man a fan of Nu’est?”Y/N thought. Then in a few minutes someone showed up and Y/N was shocked and it was Baekho.

“ OMO! IT’S BAEKHO OPPA! HOW DID HE EVEN CALL ME!!” Y/N thought.

Then Baekho saw Y/N’s shocked face and..

“ Wow! She’s beautiful I am lucky that I chose her!” Baekho thought.

Their video call conversation:

Y/N: So what will I do?

Baekho laughs at her and smirk at the same time and Baekho noticed that Y/N is focused in watching the video and he noticed her eyes are like saying “I want them on me!”

Y/N: Gosh! Baekho oppa! Should I say you are too hot to handle! I can really see you’re tattoos in that outfit! Oh gosh! I really don’t know who registered me in this event but you luckily chose me. Honestly, I didn’t want to register to this event because I know will not be able to hold my other side to you. *she just continue to watch the whole video as she said those words*

Then suddenly Baekho paused the video.

Y/N: Yah! Baekho oppa! Why did you paused it, I am focused to your video and it is pleasing to my eyes because you’re too hot!

“This girl is really something and compliments me in that way and I just can’t resist it! I should relax and calm down my hormones!” Baekho thought.

Baekho: Well thank you for your compliments Y/N and I think that person who registered you did a great job and I met you.

Baekho was finished in checking the last of him and he thinks that Y/N was the best in reacting the fancam video than the last fan because Baekho saw that the other fan is not that straight forward and she didn’t show her true self to Baekho and all the compliments are filtered so that Baekho will not mistaken her a crazy fan or a perverted fan. But Baekho wants a straightforward and wants his fans to show their true self whenever they are in front of him and that’s why he chose Y/N as the best in reaction.
