TIL the author of Hajime no Ippo opened up an actual boxing gym based off Kamogawa Boxing gym from the manga.
Even has Takamura’s statue on top. It’s also not just a tourist trap. It’s a real gym with a real training staff and real professionally trained boxers.

Hi! Can I have some parent hc’s with Volg, Takamura,Sendo and Miyata with their twin baby boys and what a day with them would be like while there S/O is at work? Thank you!
hii thank you for waiting. hope you like it xx
HNI boys as fathers
Sendo
Sendo would be a playful, affectionate and goofy father. He knows how important it is to have a good father figure so he tries his best in everything with them
He chucks the babies into a pram and runs around the neighbourhood. The babies enjoy the ride and Sendo gets his roadwork in, win-win situation
Sendo, a bit too wild at times, tries out experimental recipes and causes the kids to get diarrhea
He enjoys reading stories to them, especially adventure tales, and he often gets carried away with his storytelling, making the stories come alive with his enthusiastic voice acting.
Sendo buys the twins superhero capes and carries them around the house to make them feel like they're flying
He lovesss talking to baby talk with the twins. It sometimes slips out while talking to you and he gets embarrassed
He brings the twins to the gym and makes Hoshi look after them
When he's especially busy or has a match coming up soon he drops off the twins in the morning at his grandma's then picks them up after he's done
Volg
Volg would be a very gentle and caring father, and perhaps a bit too nervous at times when he can't figure out why the babies are crying
Volg sets up a play pen in the living room so the babies can waddle around and play together while he shadowboxes and watches opponents' tapes nearby
He takes the babies out for walks since he feels too anxious to leave them alone while he is out for roadwork
He reads out the books he is reading to the babies. And of course he reads them childrens books to get them to fall asleep
Volg being mulitlingual starts early in teaching the boys languages so that they can pick up many languages like him when they grow up
Takamura
Takamura is the definition of a playful and enthusiastic father. He's a natural at making his babies laugh and smile with silly faces
He'd start every day a tad bit later than his s/o, so you would have to feed the babies most of the time probably
When he wakes up he'll smother the babies with kisses and plenty of tickles
Sort of like a bouncy castle, he'll set up a soft boxing ring and put the babies in there to see what they do
Takamura isn't the most talented when it comes to cooking so often his family and aoki come over with food for the babies
Often he sings karoke on the tv while the babies babble along
He also sings "my punches are dynamite" as a lullaby for the twins
Despite being champion he still needs to practice boxing so he brings the babies to the gym. Much to Kamogawa's annoyance most of the boxers (expecially Aoki and Ippo) are distracted by the babies and keep playing with them when they should be training
Miyata
At first Miyata would be really unsure of what to do with the twins like should he buy them matching clothes or separate ones to give them individuality
He'd also be a bit awkward at first trying to hold the babies and feeding them, but eventually becomes an expert at those things
Miyata would be a calm and nurturing father
Miyata enjoys quiet activities with them, like reading books together or playing with legos
Sometimes he shadowboxes in front of the twins hoping that they are inspired to take up boxing when they are older
He only goes for runs when he knows that the boys are sound asleep. Some days he gets worried and cuts his runs a bit short to come back home
When his s/o comes back from work he shares what happened during the day and tries to squeeze in quick roadwork while you're at home with the babies
your twin, admin sar

Hajime no Ippo: What if
(What if Ippo did get to fight Miyata for the OPBF belt?)
-Everything leading up to Miyata’s 5th title defense, but with one change. Miyata didn’t see Mr. Sakaguchi or Randy jr in the crowd.
-Without the distraction, Miyata didn’t struggle and didn’t break his fist in his fight.
-Miyata was still champion and with no injuries, he would be facing Ippo on the promised day.
-Now with no need for an interim champion to exist. Ippo and Miyata are on a collision course.
-Randy Jr. Does show up to see Miyata and tell him the dates BS. Miyata is confused as this is his first time seeing Randy Jr. but brushes it off as not important right now. He has more important things.
-Both fighters are super motivated
-The time of the fight has arrived and Ippo, renounced his title belt. As was his plan with his Gym’s permission.
-Ippo ends his reign with 7 title defenses. Leaving the title vacant. Now taking his next step.
-Ippo is running on pure motivation. And at this time we know what he was thinking
-Ippo planned on retiring after this match. Now would he truly retire? We don’t know in canon. But at this time he was resolute. His goal was to fight Miyata
-Now one could argue he only came to this conclusion while he was waiting for Miyata because of the postponement. But I think this was Ippo’s state of mind. He was always planning to take over his family business.
-Anyway, the OPBF Title match arrives. People are hyped!
-Date, Sendo, Mashiba, and others are watching with interest.
-Coach could see in the kids eye, Ippo was motivated more than ever. A feeling in his gut that maybe this might be Ippo’s final match. Regardless, he was his coach and second. He’d make sure this kid put up one hell of a fight.
-cue flashbacks of the two at the start.
-Miyata remember when Ippo first showed up. Remembering their spars. Remembering the loss that prevented him from keeping his promise. But now, nothing will stand in the way. This is his fight.
-Ippo also remembering his spars with Miyata. Remembering how this was his goal from the beginning. Now, he was ready. The fight with his fated rival.
-The title on the poster, called “Fated” as a reference to the promise.
-The arena was sold out.
-The fight is called, the stadium is packed. The OPBF title match was underway.
-The first round. Ippo didn’t charge immediately. He was being analytical. It was a surprise. Everyone could feel the tension.
-Ippo and Miyata were running countless scenarios in their heads as they prepared. But then, they both began.
-The first round was a tie, no clear advantage.
-Miyata Sr, telling Miyata to keep cool. He has the speed advantage. He just needs to relax. Coach kamogawa telling Ippo to put the pressure on.
-Round 2 was an intense bout. Ippo landing the first clean blow, almost knocking down Miyata. But Miyata was able to fire back.
-The stadium was hyped up. Sendo commenting that Ippo was going to win, Mashiba commenting that Miyata has the clear advantage. Date comments on both their strengths and weaknesses.
-Round 3 and 4 are both intense rounds, Miyata starting to feel the downside of his weight control. Yet Miyata gets the first down on Ippo with a powerful counter. Ippo got up at 7. Ippo had realized That was Miyata’s hidden move.
-Round 5 Ippo gets his first down on Miyata. Barely grazing him.
-Both boxers evolving. Date comments that right now those two were world rankers and surpassed him when he had his rematch with Ricardo.
-Sendo could see it, the fire in Ippo’s eyes.
-Mashiba felt genuine guilt keeping these two from fighting.
-Round 6 has them Both score downs on the other.
-Round 7 and 8 has Miyata taking lead, almost knocking Ippo down. But Ippo lands some nasty liver blows.
-Round 9 and 10 Ippo takes point lead. And it’s still all tied up. Both almost knocked the other down. Both knowing that whoever goes down first would lose.
-Round 11, Ippo and Miyata start going at it harder. Both throwing Everything they got into the fight. Everyone was stunned by the display. Both of them evolved again. Ippo unveiling the Dempsey roll and Miyata showing his unseen punch. They both knocked the other down at the same time! Both by sheer spirit managed to stand up.
-Both make it to round twelve. Both in their mind knowing, this would not end with a decision.
-And they both go in. One final punch to end it.

from the top of my head, the list of cups falling and breaking in HNI is:
That cup Ippo's mom broke a day before being hospitalized due to overwork
The cup on the Kamogawa Gym's office table when Miyata's dad came to cancel the Miyaippo match

Hii I’m so excited your back! I really liked those hc’s with the kids to you think I can possible do Takamura, Eagle, Volg and ippo teaching their 8y.o son boxing because their inspired to be like their dad? Thank you!
omg lol i've written like 10 requests for hni and this is the first time someone requested ippo. poor guy no one likes him huh
hni boys teaching their son how to box
takamura
he would definitely start teaching his son how to box from the minute he can stand. takamura will buy him mitts and practice sparring with him
he would bring his son to kamogawa gym a ton which annoys kamogawa but he just let's it happen because he sees it as a reflection of his relationship with takamura
takamura takes his son to the zoo "ok son today is really important. we are going to find you your special move so pay close attention to the animals". it'll probably end up with takamura finding a stupid new move like the sloth punch or something
ultimately takamura would let his son pick what career path he wants to take and wouldn't pressure him
volg
volg has mixed feelings. he's so shocked that his son is inspired by him but also he doesn't want his son to go through the pain of what he had to while trying to climb the ranks since the world of boxing can be an unfair one
he realizes ultimately that maybe his son won't take it up as a career. but he would still prefer that his son only takes up boxing as a hobby since he's scared of the possible injuries that could occur
volg would sign his son up for boxing classes just so they have a closer father son bond
eagle
eagle would let his son try out boxing classes at a local gym or school. he secretly hopes that he was able to pass on his athletic genes
eagle would try to promote positive masculinity to his son since some boxers can be gross and toxic from the fame and power *cough* bryan hawk *cough*
he would even happier if his son tries to aim to be a gold medalist in the olympics. no matter how much it costs he would let his son have the best training and coaches to reach that level of boxing
ippo
ippo would be so happy that he inspired his son. he sees it sort of like how he saw himself and his dad
ippo would make his son start out the way he did by training with the leaves and running along side him
he would totally get hella nerdy and excited watching match tapes with his son and explaining what's happening on screen
your boxing gloves,

Hajime No Ippo: What If
(What if Kimura defeated Mashiba in the title match?)
Anyone who is a fan of Hajime No Ippo remembers this Iconic match, a normal man who loved Boxing versus a Monster.
Kimura was basically a Jobber for Mashiba to use to make his claim to the World, that he was ready to move on.
The End result was a hard fought fight that really came down to 3 centimeters
(But what if that distance wasnt there)
-The Fight begins as canon. Mashiba easily beating the bricks off of Kimura with his Left.
-But Kimura was not going down easy. He endured the assault and pushed forward.
-Mashiba planned on ending it with just Flicker Jabs.
-Mashiba's desire to appeal to the World was the very thing keeping Kimura still in the fight.
-First round goes to Mashiba, as does the second, third, fourth and Fifth. Even the 6th Round more of the same, but here Mashiba got his first Knockdown
-Round 7 is where the dream becomes alive
-Kimura Tatsuya begins the fight, he got the timing. Hitting the Bodyblows.
-Round 8 begins and its all according to plan.
-But Mashiba decides now to take it serious.
-Kimura's will is keeping him in the fight, His eyes showing determination. He lands a hit to the Jaw and knocks down Mashiba. The Dragon Fish Blow
-Mashiba now understood that Kimura, the one he saw as a Jobber was not a Jobber at all.
-Kimura hitting the body with everything to create an opening.
-The Dragon Fish Blow number two.
-But, just like in Canon, Kumi's scream awoke her brother and he survives with a clinch
-The 8th round ends and Mashiba now felt fear. Even more shaken then before. But still determined
-Round 9 begins.Mashiba used his right. Showing he is now going all out.
-Its a real clash of wills. Both fighters desperate.
-But Kimura awakened his Visual Prowess ( AKA the eye thing that shows when a character is hyper determined)
-Kumi sees genuine fear in her big brother.
-Kimura goes for the Final Dragon fish blow. And Mashiba's fist goes to counter
-But unlike in canon... Mashiba's punch was a bit off, Mashiba took the full hit.
-Mashiba was the one to fall.
-Kimura couldnt believe it. Mashiba was on the ground once again!
-Kimura had given his all, he knew if Mashiba got up now... it was over.
-Mashiba could feel everything he worked for slip away... No. He couldnt... Not to him. Not to the Kamogawa Gym. Not to this nobody.
-Mashiba managed to get up again at the 9 count.
-But before the Ref could say box... Mashiba fell. It was over.
-The crowd in Disbelief. The Grim Reaper had been defeated.
-Kimura was now the Champion.
-The arena Cheered at the absolutely Stunning match.
-Kimura felt the belt around his waist. Aoki had gotten it for him. After 5 years... He got the belt. He achieved his goal.
-Kimura smiled and Raised his hands in the air! He did it! He was the Japanese Junior Lightweight Champion!
-Kimura, felt his spirit invigorated. The Kamogawa gym now held its 3rd Title Belt.
-The news was shocking. Kimura went to his shopping district with Pride.
-He had done the impossible, defeated death. That was what the news was saying.
-Of course Kimura needed some time to recover. The Gym Celebrated his win. Aoki was the most proud of his best friend. He showed it was possible, He showed that their effort COULD be worth it! Coach Kamogawa congratulated him. Shinoda was crying tears of Joy! One of his boxers had a title.
-Now Kimura expected Takamura to rib him about everything. But Takamura smiled. Congratulating him for defeating a monster. "Guess you arent completely worthless after all." He smirked.
-The aftermath was quite something. Kimura didnt retire. He was the JBC champ. He had a title to defend.
-Kimura had been renewed, and he was going to push even harder. Of course this title also put some respect on his name AND the shoping district his family worked. Revitalizing the area because of the Intrigue.
-Of course seeing the area succeed, and seeing how happy the people were there. Kimura Felt the pressure to be great. To hold his title. This Revitalized him.
-Of course people all over wanted a chance to fight him. Seeing the fight with Mashiba as a "Fluke" win.
-So people that had been nervous to Challenge Mashiba were ready to jump on Him.
-Ippo and the others still had their own matches to worry about, and Ippo wins his matches as usual as does Takamura. Nothing changes with them.
-The big changes come with Kimura and Aoki.
-After seeing his best friend get a title match, Aoki was BURNING to get one. And he was motivated. Winning more matches decisively.
-As for Kimura, his burning desire to hold onto the title belt actually helped him keep it. He had his first title match with Takeshi Ryuzaki. The man that beat him in the first Class A tournament. In the extra round.
-Kimura remembered the loss from the past and was burning with the will to win the rematch. Sure enough, he did!
-Kimura beat the boxer in the 3rd round. With his new technique, The Fish Dragon Blow. Unlike in canon when this was created by accident much later on. Kimura having been determined to improve, created a variation much earlier and landing his first title defense win.
-After the match, Kimura was shocked to see Mashiba of all people waiting for him.
-Kimura was expecting Mashiba to threaten him. But Mashiba didnt do that, Mashiba revealed he plans on taking the belt. Kimura could feel that if they came to blows now, he would lose. But Mashiba says the OPBF belt. He says he outgrew the Japanese belt a while ago anyway. But He tells Kimura he is not allowed to lose.
-"You and Ippo are both the only one's to get lucky against me. That honor is higher than any belt. So dont lose again... Or I will rip you apart."
-Kimura took those words to heart.
-Shortly after, Kimura heard that Mashiba took the OPBF title for the Junior Light weight division. Mashiba had grown considerably since their last match. Kimura knew that Mashiba was a monster... if he fought him at any other point in his career, it would have been a loss. But Kimura didnt dwell on that. His love of Boxing got him a Title Belt. And he would hold onto it as tight as he could.
-Aoki Had a string of wins that helped him get a title match earlier than in Canon. His fight was against Imae. Instead of fighting Fodder, he fought much stronger boxers to up his standing. Thus allowing him to get a title match. But not as Imae's second title match, but as his FIRST.
But the Question is.
Could the motivated Aoki defeat the Imae in need of Proving himself?

Red Head Sweat Heart🥰
Vorg is a crush.
At first, I couldn't say precisely when, but I thought he was chubby… He first was introduced after Ippo won Sendo and Yamada aka Geromichi joined Kamogawa Gym. Also before him was fights with Date’s Gymmate Keigo Okita and with famous speedster Saeki Takuma… a lot of things happened…
His and Ippo’s goals at that time was to challenge and defeat Date Eiji.
To understand a thing, it doesn't matter what, it’s easy to do a lot of repetitions or to compare it. I will compare Vorg with Sendo.
Firstly because Vorg was introduced as a major “antagonist”
Secondly because Sendo and Vorg are my favourite characters and are equally strong fighters, each with unique techniques. Besides that, they fought against each other and Sendo won by decision(!).
Vorg is an attractive person (at least for me for sure), a little sad and melancholic — and he had a reason for that — because his mother is sick. He wants to fight for money and for something else.
The sorrow in his eyes, the manners he got, style of speaking and body language are great.
The main question for Ippo to box is “what is it to be strong”, he is fighting to find it out, and that was the major motive for him in Lallapallooza Arc.
Vorg’s main question was “does he love boxing?” and to answer it he initiated a dialogue between him and Makunouchi.
After the fight and after he lost, the understanding came itself — yes, he likes it.
The character design is also astonishing… and cute. Even inside the anime universe he is different. While others got a little rough face shapes, his are soft and smooth, so clean, especially with his hair colour, which I will describe as ginger, and that voice though…
This post wasn’t intent to tell a complicated story, but to tell my feelings ☺️
See you later space cowboy

I’m supposed to be working but I’m bored and the only person here, so here’s a random post about some of manga/comics based around martial arts.
All Rounder Meguru by Hiroki Endou
High schooler and budding Shooto mixed martial arts fighter, Meguru Takayanagi, reunites with his old friend from grade school, Takashi Segawa, in the ring for the first time in seven years. However, while the two used to be good friends, due to the difference in their upbringings, Takashi now sees Meguru as an enemy. Without a moment of joy to commemorate their reunion, the old friends' match begins ... Eden: It's an Endless World!'s Hiroki Endo brings you a new tale of Shooto, MMA, and youth!
Available here.
Hajime no Ippo by George Morikawa
Makunouchi Ippo has been bullied his entire life. Constantly running errands and being beaten up by his classmates, Ippo has always dreamed of changing himself, but never has the passion to act upon it. One day, in the midst of yet another bullying, Ippo is saved by Takamura Mamoru, who happens to be a boxer. Ippo faints from his injuries and is brought to the Kamogawa boxing gym to recover. As he regains consciousness, he is awed and amazed at his new surroundings in the gym, though lacks confidence to attempt anything. Takamura places a photo of Ippo's classmate on a punching bag and forces him to punch it. It is only then that Ippo feels something stir inside him and eventually asks Takamura to train him in boxing. Thinking that Ippo does not have what it takes, Takamura gives him a task deemed impossible and gives him a one week time limit. With a sudden desire to get stronger, for himself and his hard working mother, Ippo trains relentlessly to accomplish the task within the time limit. Thus Ippo's journey to the top of the boxing world begins. [X]
No available anywhere legally because it’s over 100 volumes long and apparently Morikawa doesn’t like his stuff being sold digitally. But that won’t stop you from being able to find it.
Teppu by Ohta Moare
Ishidou Natsuo is a gifted girl who can achieve anything she wants in sports. Because of this she is permanently bored, as there aren't any real challenges to her abilities to make her feel alive. One day she receives an invitation of a merry girl to join her martial arts club. Irritated by her happy expression, Natsuo decides to accept the invitation just as a pretext to beat her up, but she receives a shocking surprise.
Unfortunately, this one is not licensed in English either but it has been translated by fans and can be found pretty quickly.

(it’s about a girl forced to do Judo to win gold at the 1992 Olympics) but it was never licensed and the fan translation stopped like 20 volumes before it was done. Oh well. I’ve seen a couple of other ones floating around on Tapas or WEBTOON like Champ but no idea if any of them are good.
If you know any good ones, share with the rest of us. If you’re making one yourself, even better. Feel free to share it here.
