Hi! I primarily play wants-based, here's a list of mods I use that help enhance my wants gameplay! Recommendations:

Satisfaction bar - "Miss TS2? It’s been too long since I played it to remember it, but I remember the fancy bar. It's a very fancy bar. And you know what’s useless? Whims. Whims do nothing in the long term unless you’re fulfilling them so hard that they get you enough points for a reward trait or something. So, how about we make whims matter? Introducing a Satisfaction motive that’s only minimally ripped off from TS2!" Consequential Fears Overview - "This is an overhaul of the useless fears system we already have in the game, which makes fears meaningful and actual things to avoid, like in The Sims 2." Wants&Reactions - "2 slots for "normal" wants are few, right? Reactionary wants are basically useless because all you get are wants based on motives when they are low, and that's it, unless you take your sim to the gym or the park or whatever, and they get wants related to the venue they currently are. Plus, not all your sims will have fears; if they do, they're pretty easy to overcome. Those 2 slots seem wasted to me and are mostly empty, so I made the Reactionary slot a Short-Term want slot you can pin! I had to take another approach to show reactionary wants, and here I got an idea: to use the slot for the fear confrontation wants for critical stuff happening in your sims' lives." The Custom Wants Mod - "This mod will often add new wants to fit in with some of my other mods. The wants on their own won’t do anything in the game; you need mods that add custom whimsets using these wants installed for them to show up. This mod literally just contains custom wants; it’s whimsets that cause the wants to show. Mods that use these wants in their whimsets include The personality mod, The hobby mod, and the Character Values Overhaul mod." The Personality Mod - "The Personality Mod adds 12 reward traits to the Reward Store. Each of these traits is inspired by the six Aspirations from Sims 2: Family, Fortune, Knowledge, Pleasure, Popularity, and Romance, and there are primary and secondary versions of each." The Hobby Mod - "The Hobby Mod adds 14 Reward Traits to the game for children and elders. These traits are inspired by the Hobby Tracks from Sims 2 Freetime, plus a few new categories to fit The Sims 4." Character Values Overhaul - "All traits (including Toddler and EP Traits) impact Character Values when a Sim is first created." Whimoverhaul - "This is an overhaul of the EA want system, which enhances the chances for family-based wants and tunes down wants to buy new stuff. Special wants for pregnancy, elder life stage, childhood phases, lifestyles, preferences, careers..."

MissyHissy’s Hopes and Fears Mod - “ The Hopes & Fears Mod overhauls whimsets for Traits, Aspirations, Careers, Skills and more by adding new Wants to these sets, specifically custom ones.” [Note this will conflict with Whimoverhaul. I personally use this over Whimoverhaul because I like the other mods that are compatible with this one]

I'm always looking to improve my sim's wants and fears. For now, I only have "Whimoverhaul" by Sims4Me installed.

I was looking at "The Hopes & Fears Mod" and "Wants&Reactions" from your mods list. Are these two compatible? And is there a reason that you prefer "Wants&Reactions" over "Whimoverhaul" (for example, more whims related to an activity)?

Mod Preferences: When choosing between "Wants&Reactions" and "Whimoverhaul" by Sims4Me, these two mods will work together. I chose to use MissyHissy's "Custom Wants mod" and "Hopes and Fears" mod, which tend to offer a broader range of whims that are more closely tied to a Sim's current activity, mood, or life situation, over Sims4me "Whimoverhaul." This means you get a more dynamic and responsive experience, as your Sims' want to align more realistically with what's happening in their lives. They're reacting in real-time to their environment and emotions. On the other hand, "Whimoverhaul" is fantastic for a more generalized improvement to the existing whims system. It's great if you're looking for an upgrade but want to keep things closer to the base game's vibe.

Reason for Preference: My preference leans towards MissyHissy's mods mainly because of the variety and relevance of the whims it generates, as well as the inspiration they pull from the Sims 2. It feels more immersive as if the Sim's personality, desires, and interests add so much to storytelling and gameplay dynamics. "Whimoverhaul" is also a solid choice, especially if you want a more straightforward enhancement to the existing system.

In summary, it really comes down to what kind of gameplay experience you're looking for. Both mods have their merits, and it's great to experiment to see which aligns best with your style.
