You and Hueningkai had only been dating for a few weeks, and while you both were thrilled to finally be together, the awkwardness that came with the newness of the relationship was undeniable. Every interaction felt like a delicate balancing act—neither of you wanting to mess up or seem too eager, but both equally smitten.

Today, you had decided to visit him at the practice room. The TXT members had been rehearsing all day, and you thought a quick visit might brighten his day. As you walked in, carrying a small bag of snacks for the group, the room erupted into a chorus of greetings.

“Y/N! You’re here!” Beomgyu was the first to notice you, his grin wide and mischievous. “Finally! Someone who can distract Hueningkai from staring at his phone all day waiting for your texts.”

Hueningkai, who had been stretching in the corner, immediately turned bright red. “Hyung!” he hissed, shooting Beomgyu a mortified glare.

You chuckled softly, feeling your own cheeks heat up as you handed out the snacks. Hueningkai walked over to you, his usual confidence slightly overshadowed by his bashfulness. “Thanks for coming,” he said, his voice soft but warm.

“Of course,” you replied, smiling as you sat down next to him on the bench.

The two of you sat side by side, close enough that your knees almost touched, but neither of you made the move to bridge the gap. Your hands rested awkwardly in your lap, and you couldn’t help stealing glances at him. Every time your eyes met, one of you would quickly look away, both of you pretending to focus on anything but each other.

The other members noticed immediately.

“Look at them,” Soobin whispered loudly, nudging Yeonjun. “It’s like watching a high school drama.”

“They’re so awkward, it’s painful,” Yeonjun agreed, though his grin was anything but teasing. “But also kind of adorable.”

Taehyun leaned against the mirrored wall, crossing his arms with a smirk. “I give them another week before they start holding hands without looking like they’re defusing a bomb.”

Hueningkai groaned, burying his face in his hands. “Can you all not?” he muttered, his voice muffled.

You couldn’t help but laugh at his reaction, your nerves easing slightly as the teasing continued. “You guys are terrible,” you said, trying to defend him but failing to keep the amusement out of your voice.

Beomgyu, never one to let an opportunity for mischief pass, leaned forward and pointed dramatically. “Hey, Hueningkai, your hand is right there! Y/N’s hand is right there! It’s a crazy coincidence. What are you going to do about it?”

“Stop!” Hueningkai exclaimed, his voice rising an octave as he shoved Beomgyu lightly.

The rest of the members burst into laughter, and you couldn’t help but join in. Hueningkai looked at you, his embarrassment melting into a sheepish smile. “Sorry about them,” he said. “They’re... a lot.”

“They’re not wrong, though,” you said teasingly, summoning every ounce of courage you had. You reached out slowly, your hand brushing against his. His eyes widened slightly, but he didn’t pull away. Instead, he intertwined his fingers with yours, his touch tentative but firm.

The room erupted into cheers and applause, Beomgyu standing up and clapping dramatically. “They did it, everyone! History has been made!”

“Okay, that’s enough,” Soobin said, trying to maintain his leaderly composure but failing to hide his grin. “Leave them alone.”

Hueningkai turned to you, his cheeks still pink but his smile brighter than ever. “I guess they’re not going to let us live this down, huh?”

“Probably not,” you agreed, squeezing his hand gently.

As the practice continued, the two of you stayed like that—your hands clasped and your hearts a little less unsure. The awkwardness was still there, but it was sweet, like the first chapter of a story you both couldn’t wait to write together.
