“Oh, Saiki! I didn’t know this was your house.” You smile warmly, but deep down you and Saiki both know that you knew where he lived.
“You’re joking, right? You’ve tagged along with Nendou, Kaidou, and I on the numerous occasions we walked home together.” Was what Saiki wanted to say. However, he couldn’t make any snarky comments at you whatsoever, not with his mother standing behind him.
“Ku? Is this another lovely friend of yours?”
Saiki gives you a blank glance then turns to his mother. “I guess.”
Saiki’s mother approaches you with a smile on her face, you look at her cheery expression then at Saiki’s lack of one. Polar opposites, you think. You quickly introduce yourself.
“You look lovely, Mrs. Saiki. It’s nice to meet you.”
She holds your hand gently and asks, “It’s nice to meet you too! What brings you here?”
You answer her, “I wanted to ask Saiki out.”
Saiki’s mother immediately lets go of your hand and gasps loudly. “On a date?! Do you and my Ku like each other?!”
You laugh awkwardly as you shake your head. “Goodness, no! Saiki doesn’t seem to have a romantic bone in his body.”
Well, you’re right about that. Saiki thinks to himself as he stands quietly while you talk with his mother.
“I just wanted to ask if he has a partner for our summer Pre-Calculus assignment, I was absent when it was assigned and most of the people I know have partners already. I’d text your son, but I don’t have his number– does he even have a phone?”
Saiki takes a step forward, closer to you and his mother. “I don’t have a partner yet, and Nendou wasn’t an option for me. Do you know what the assignment is?”
“If my memory serves me right, Hairo told me we had to find a partner and explain derivatives and anti-derivatives, then cite any problems with real-life situations.”
Saiki exhales, a small smile appears on his face for a second. You’d be lying if you said he didn’t look nice at the action, rarely did Saiki smile, after all. You didn’t expect as well that he’d be smiling at you. “Your memory is quite well, then. We can do this in the public library.”
Saiki’s mother turns to him, frowning. “You’re not going to let your friend stay for drinks?”
Saiki shakes his head. “We can get drinks outside, thank you.” He turns to you and says, “Wait a minute. I’ll go grab my stuff. You could... talk to my mom while you wait.”
You shoot him a thumbs up and Saiki nods as well. He says something to his mother before heading up the stairs in their house.
“So, you and Ku are good friends?”
You turn to Saiki’s mother. “You could say that. He’s a pretty chill guy, and he listens to what people have to say.”
Saiki’s mother’s face grows more cheerful than before. “I’m relieved to hear that...! He’s had a hard time making friends with his powers, being psychic and all.”
You laugh, taking every single word as a lighthearted joke. “Is he like Kaidou? I think it’s nice that you play along with his imagination. Ah, I’m sorry! I just went and assumed you knew him.”
Saiki’s mother awkwardly laughs before she answers you, “Mhm, yep! We have talked to Kaidou before, he’s a nice boy. The one with red bandages on his arm. He and Saiki are definitely friends for that!”
You nod. “Yep, he says it’s to “keep his powers at bay,” but we all know it’s fake, and we still play along. Well, some of us.” You point your index finger upwards and position your hands above your head.
“And I bet Saiki’s funky hair clips limit his powers too!” You heartily laugh. You don’t notice the way Saiki’s mother desperately keeps looking back at the stairs, waiting for her son to come down.
Powers? Please.
You see Saiki walking down the stairs and you quickly put your hands down. You ask him, “Shall we go?”
Saiki nods. You two say your goodbyes to his mother before leaving the house.
“Uhm, were you serious about the whole “getting drinks outside” thing?” You ask. Saiki looks at you confused for a second.
Ah. The thing he said to his mother earlier. He answers you, “If you want to. It’s fine by me.”
You shrug. “I could go for some coffee right now. You?”
Saiki stops to walk and looks at you. He doesn’t really know what to reply, so he stays quiet.
“Straight to the library is alright.”
You both walk side-by-side on your way to the library, not saying anything. You aren’t too nervous, and your thoughts are mostly related to the assignment and how you wish to get it completely over with so you could relax. Saiki shares the same sentiment.
You and Saiki finally arrive at the library– it’s quiet and not too crowded, so there were lots of empty seats for you two to occupy. The whole place seemed a little unclean but you two didn’t mind. You both opted for the most secluded area possible.
You sit down and look at the empty chair beside you, then at Saiki, who is still standing up. “You aren’t going to sit down yet?”
Saiki shakes his head. “I’m going to go look for books we could use as references.”
You slowly nod. “Okay, thanks.” Saiki nods back and walks off to search for books.
You place your bag on the table before you and take out the stuff you figured you two would need – ballpens, paper, etc.
...
This assignment is fucking killing me...
“Hey, Kusuo, do you know how many of these we should be writing down?”
“18. With proper citation. APA format. Also, Kusuo?”
You groan. You drop your pen for a second and shake your hand, exhausted from continuous writing and page-turning. 3 problems left...
You say to Saiki, “I didn’t know you were left-handed,” as you cracked your fingers. He nods in response. “Also, calling you by your name just felt natural.”
18 is such a weird number of problems to require, to be honest. I’m glad we don’t have to solve it ourselves.
You exhale and look at your surroundings. Come to think of it, this library looks pretty old. Probably why there aren’t a lot of people today. I’m glad there aren’t any cockroaches.
As you babble on with your thoughts, Saiki stops writing, the thought of a roach interrupting his work mortifies him.
Usually there’d be a roach or two in places like these, especially in Saiki’s and my spot. It’d be pretty funny if one did come crawling or flying around here–
Horrendously perfect timing and the worst of luck bestows you and Saiki as a large cockroach appears itself in front of you, it crawls its disgusting little legs on one of the books next to you.
You and Saiki act immediately and irrationally.
You cover your mouth with one hand to stop yourself from squealing and have an instant grip on Saiki’s sleeve with the other, and;
Saiki, figuring since he’s in a secluded area, teleports far, far away from the cockroach... with you.
...
You stare at your surroundings, slowly lowering your hand from your mouth. Your other hand still on Saiki’s sleeve, you give him a slight pinch.
Good grief. It was Saiki’s turn to stop you from screaming.
WHAT THE FUCK!!!! WHERE ARE WE!!!!!! HOW DID WE GET HERE!!!!!
“Shut up.”
You shakily ask, “Huh? I didn’t say anything... God, don’t tell me you can hear thoughts too...”
Saiki takes a deep breath and shakes his head.
LIAR.
“Fine. I can.”
You step away from him. “Are you... serious?”
Saiki stares at you with the same blank expression he always wore.
Oh my God.
“Does anyone else know? Where are we?”
Saiki answers, “Toritsuka, Aiura, they both have powers, and Akechi, due to his stubbornness and intelligence. I think we are somewhere on the other side of the world... Paris”
“That’s crazy... PARIS?”
Saiki nods.
You smile mischievously, “We should ditch our homework.”
Saiki doesn’t respond. You can feel his judginess through his unwavering stare at you without a word spoken. Jesus, do you blink?
Saiki blinks and you frown.
“Come on! We’re in Paris! City of love! Don’t they have pretty cafĂ©s here? We should eat a bunch of baked goods.”
“We don’t have any money.”
You click your tongue. ... Right. “It’s back to our stupid assignment, I guess.” You tug on the back of his shirt. “To Japan.”
“Wait.” Saiki crosses his eyes. You try your best not to question the action. “The coast is clear. Let’s go.”
In an instant, you two were back at the library.
You remember your words from earlier. Power limiters... Don’t tell me they’re real... Oh God, you probably know about me making fun of your hairpins earlier...
“They’re real.”
You whisper angrily, “I get that you can hear my thoughts but wait for me to actually say it out loud!”
“Sorry.”
“It’s alright. Let’s just finish this and maybe finally get coffee, yeah?”
Saiki nods.
An hour or two passes and you two are finally done with your shared assignment.
“I hope you don’t mind me asking, what other powers do you have?”
Your bag floats towards you. “Telekinesis.”
A small flame ignites on the tip of Saiki’s index finger. “Pyrokinesis.”
Saiki removes an incredulous thin glove from his hand and touches one of the books you two had used. “Psychometry. This book was returned just the other day.” He quickly wears the glove, and it amazes you how it seems like nothing is even there.
Saiki holds up his notebook and a „500 coin appears in its place. “Apport. It lets me exchange items of the same value.”
“Okay. Can we teleport to a cafĂ©?”
Saiki shakes his head.
“Come on! You have powers and you won’t use them like that?”
He shakes his head at you again. “Have you ever seen me use my powers at school before?”
You shake your head. “I guess I see why... You’d probably be popular if you did, in a good way and bad way. Has it been like that since... well, the start?”
Saiki nods.
“Ah... I’m sorry.” Saiki doesn’t say anything else. In an attempt to break the silence, you ask, “CafĂ©, then?”
He nods again. “I could buy coffee jelly.”
“No. Allow me to treat you to coffee jelly, as thanks for letting me in on a secret this big.”
“If telling people I’m psychic meant getting free coffee jelly, I’d probably tell the world.”
“It’s not worth it.”
“Yeah, you’re right.”

on today's random character headcanons by cloud.... whistlers and non-whistlers. sorry was teasing my sibling for losing her ability to whistle while i am a professional whistler. i can do it through text, see.
fffufudduuuu. i am flawless. let's proceed.
can whistle
mikoto can only whistle by sucking the air in; chiyo, mera, and nendou can whistle by sucking air in and blowing it out; kaidou and akechi only whistle by blowing the air out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
cant whistle
its their collective weakness.
chiyo is so annoying to toriteru about it. she loves whistling around them... nenkai are 10x more annoying than chiyo at kubosaisai about their inability to whistle.
"but kusuo–" sorry. can't whistle. i don't take criticism. also it's funny imagining him trying to whistle but failing. 😗
toriteru act like they can but if you ask them to whistle they'll make up an excuse not to :-)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cant add anymore photos on mobile... Pretend I've included a photo of Saiko. He can't whistle too, by the way. Takahashi and co. tease him relentlessly about it. đŸ©·

cerisa speaks — hello j my dearest. enjoy your headcanons ♡
Tumblr media
KUSOU SAIKI
ăƒ»ă€€ok hear me out... minecraft.
ăƒ»ă€€saiki likes the simplicity and how relaxing the game can be, he wears his germanium ring whilst playing so he can listen to the ingame music without being interrupted by voices in his vicinity.
ăƒ»ă€€saiki managed to watch death note before he could get spoiled mentally. he guessed some of the plot before it happened but overall he really enjoyed it. his favourite character is L.
ăƒ»ă€€very reluctantly watched attack on titan after kaidou found out he hadn't seen it (the entire plot got spoiled before he got a chance to watch it, why bother now?). despite knowing what would happen he actually enjoyed it. especially the animation. his favourite character is carla jeager because she reminds him of his mother.
ăƒ»ă€€mindlessly watches documentaries. he's doing homework? there's a documentary playing in the background. cooking food? documentary playing on the tv. walking home from school? he's got headphones on and is listening to a documentary. NEVER nature documentaries though. he hates them.
Tumblr media
SHUN KAIDOU
ăƒ»ă€€no one on this earth could convince me that kaidou wouldn't be in a thousand and one fandoms.
ăƒ»ă€€i'm talking warrior cats, undertale, my hero academia, five nights at freddy's, bottom of the barrel fandoms, THE cringiest fandoms and by proxy a cringe fanboy (he loves them though).
ăƒ»ă€€he larps (live action role playing). probably founded a roleplay group in his area.
ăƒ»ă€€plays overwatch and thinks he’s hot shit because he bought a diamond account.
ăƒ»ă€€has an absolute temper tantrum when he actually plays on it and falls to bronze 2. tried to main reaper to further his jet black wings persona but got stuck on lucio when playing mystery heroes once and LOVED using him, so he decided to main him.
ăƒ»ă€€AND HE CLIMBED TO SILVER 3!!! he’s getting out of the trenches.
Tumblr media
AREN KUBOYASU
ăƒ»ă€€aren would def play league of legends.
ăƒ»ă€€and he gets TOXIC as hell. just says the most diabolical shit imaginable. he has multiple accounts because he gets banned all the time.
ăƒ»ă€€aren is in a bunch of facebook groups about motorcycles. i think that’s the closest he’ll ever get to being in an actual fandom.
ăƒ»ă€€i lied in the above text. he def plays final fantasy and keeps up with all the lore.
ăƒ»ă€€oh and you just KNOW he’s into games like diablo 4, call of duty and gta. ESPECIALLY gta.
Tumblr media
RIKI NENDOU
ăƒ»ă€€nendou plays minecraft like as soon as he gets back from school.
ăƒ»ă€€don't get me wrong nendou is a fucking moron -- but why can he build the most intricate builds ever??
ăƒ»ă€€like actual mansions, castels, and manors... they're really good??????
ăƒ»ă€€and yet at the same time he much prefers to create dirt huts and houses made out of pure diamond and gold blocks. whilst denying he went in creative.
ăƒ»ă€€is a part of a lot of childrens cartoon fandoms. the amazing world of gumball, aspongebob sqaurepants, and my little pony (his favourite character is discord).
ăƒ»ă€€still actively plays baldi's basics even though it died off years ago.
Tumblr media
KINESHI HAIRO
ăƒ»ă€€hairo isnt actually in many fandoms.
ăƒ»ă€€i mean he's on the move all the time, he doesn't have time to be in fandoms.
ăƒ»ă€€loved the first season of physical 100 so much that he applied to be on the second. (he got in?)
ăƒ»ă€€plays fireboy and watergirl with nendou (hairo is wasd because nendou can only use the arrows).
ăƒ»ă€€kind of still watches cartoons from his childhood (doraemon and wonderpets mostly)
ăƒ»ă€€he does enjoy the occasional comedy movie from time to time - free guy, friday, deadpool, central intelligence, you get the picture.
ăƒ»ă€€apart from that, yes not much.
Tumblr media
KOKOMI TERUHASHI
ăƒ»ă€€is one of those girls obsessed with the sims. spends more time in character creation and build mode then actually playing the game.
ăƒ»ă€€has a THOUSAND mods installed, but she has a good pc (courtesy of her brother) so it still runs well.
ăƒ»ă€€born to be a marvel girl, forced to play with barbie dolls.
ăƒ»ă€€is really big on collecting monster high dolls. she scours bidding websites daily to check if a doll that she’s missing has been listed. also makes sure her profile is public on there, sometimes people recognise her and give it for a reduced price. or sometimes free! being the perfect pretty girl has its perks.
ăƒ»ă€€owns all the monster high movies on dvd.
ăƒ»ă€€her favourite character is cleo de nile. she wishes she could act like she does.
ăƒ»ă€€plays love nikki religiously. owns a majority of the sets ingame and bases some of her irl outfits on clothes from it, it’s like her pinterest. she’s one of the richest players in her region.
ăƒ»ă€€i actually don’t think i’ve mentioned this yet, but she really likes monster high.
Tumblr media
MIKOTO AIURA
ăƒ»ă€€aiura, when not reading fortunes, tends to spend her time playing horror games.
ăƒ»ă€€she's really invested in scp lore and even created her own scp original character when she was twelve.
ăƒ»ă€€HUGELY into true crime youtubers. buys those 'solve an unsolved murder' packages and discusses theories on reddit.
ăƒ»ă€€used to watch judge judy as a child after food and it’s still ingrained into her routine. she invites yumehara over one night for a sleepover and basically forces a watch session on her:
“hm?” yumehara watches as aiura fluffs up two pillows on the floor in front of the television, “oh! are we going to watch a movie?”
aiura looks at her incredulously, mid-fluff on the second pillow, “no, chiyopipi. now we will watch judge judy. since i was so busy with work and school im a whole two seasons behind!”
yumehara squints at the elderly woman on screen, not at all looking forward to this, “how long is it?”
“oh a couple of hours at least!”
she’s lucky she brought plenty of snacks.
ăƒ»ă€€obsessed with vampires and any media that’s vampire related, she thinks they’re the most attractive mythical creature. (objectively wrong, btw)
Tumblr media
CHIYO YUMEHARA
ăƒ»ă€€similarly to teruhashi, spends a lot of her time playing the sims. she enjoys puppeteering the sims so they do her bidding though... it gets weird.
ăƒ»ă€€YANDERE SIMULATOR. was an OG player for SURE.
ăƒ»ă€€used to be really popular in the gacha life community before she just lost all interest.
ăƒ»ă€€flits from fixation to fixation, she never stays in one fandom for too long. it scares her to be still.
ăƒ»ă€€yumehara is absolutely an anime girl. especially romance, but she also likes action anime’s.
ăƒ»ă€€when she heard saiki and kaidou talking about attack on titan in class she decided to make an anime editing account on tiktok (it got successful) and she almost FAINTED when she saw kaidou showing the edit to saiki during class (he doesn’t know it’s her).
ăƒ»ă€€saiki does though, he actually thinks she’s got nice editing skills. he’d rather lick a foot than tell her that though.

Hugs and hangs onto your arm when he gets jealous about other people flirting with you
He tries to help you with homework but you distract tf out of him
He gets really jittery and nervous when you get close to his face

i’m having fun imagining like
the kids in college or whatever and saiki’s pet idiots drop by out of nowhere to hang out, have dinner, shoot the shit, couple of drinks, all that. but they don’t even text him in forewarning ‘hey we’re dropping by in 40â€Č cus they’re 18 year old boys and the one with social anxiety who’d be worried about that (kaidou) is getting hyped by kuboyasu into forgetting his opinions on what manners are.
they bust in right as saiki is setting the table with his beautiful gorgeous jaw dropping dinner, the entire apartment smells mouth watering with a tinge of sweetness yall know foreshadows a delectable home cooked sweet thing for dessert
ofc immediately the three amigos mouths are watering, even nendo who subsides with joy on ramen, and saiki’s all ‘oh i’ll fix you something’ and a minute of clattering sounds later and various aromas and really getting them worked up later
saiki comes back in and presents three cup ramens that aren’t even close to being done cooking yet, the water went in there a second ago, saiki was just fucking around and making sure his souffle didn’t fall.
saiki sits down to eat his dinner ‘tormenting toritsuka’ style while kuboyasu and kaidou stare between him and his dinner and the cup ramens they just got like ‘can you believe.....?’
saiki : believe.
Tumblr media
by the time they get home and check the fridge the ones with brain cells are even more mystified to find that there’s already leftovers packed in spotless tupperware in their fridges.

@un-pearable here is your one piece fandom drama that i am always DYING to talk about because its so funny
okay. so im going to set the stage here with some preliminary details so you can understand as best you can the full context of this absolute . trainwreck of a fandom drama.
number one: being a very old, long-running manga, one piece has had its fair share of... well. interesting transgender representation. usually not straight up bad - they help the protagonist and are on our side and also are main allies of the only organization who you could feasibly call the good guys, but also being one piece theyre just kind of weird. because everybody in this series is weird. but in this most recent arc, we get introduced to this trans woman who is... just a woman. no weird stuff she looks like this
Tumblr media
number two: one piece's female cast is actually really really good as far as character development/plot relevance/personality go and i love all of them dearly, but we only get a handful of top-tier strength women and everybody is always dying to get more of them
number three: the author has.......... a type. like
Tumblr media
i wont bore you with the rest of the examples but half the women look the same. he likes his women like that
alright, so with that all out of the way: lets begin!
so in the most recent arc, we get introduced to this character named yamato, a guy wearing a mask and fullbody covering clothing. yamato is called the "son of kaidou" by kaidou's subordinates, and son by kaidou himself. yamato saves luffy and introduces himself, taking off the mask and revealing...
Tumblr media
"but huh???" you might be thinking. "yamato looks like all the other women clones!!! whats going on?"
and the answer to this question is: factkinning
Tumblr media
yes, you read that right. yamato is a canon factkinnie. very long story very short, child yamato saw a guy named kozuki oden get boiled alive in a pot of oil and decided that he wanted to become that guy. so far so good.
so as yamato says himself, "kozuki oden was a man wasnt he?! so i chose to be a man too!!" from this point on, luffy starts calling yamato "yama-bro", so luffy is also acknowledging yamato as a man. yamato speaks like a polite young man in japanese, using (typically) male first person pronouns, and furthermore, the official translations use he/him pronouns, and with the transgender rep earlier in the arc, it seems like everything is cut and dry, right? .... right
well. not so much. you see, japanese doesn't use gendered third person pronouns very often, so the translators are forced to make a decision based off of how they interpret the text. and with the typically male first person pronouns, cisgender women can also use them (and one of our cisgender one piece characters does, so there's precedent) furthermore, all the bonus information/merchandise/narrator boxes refer to yamato as a woman.
there's these bonus things called vivre cards that you can buy that lists basic information and stupid trivia about characters, so it'll include name gender height age etc etc. with the previously mentioned transgender woman, her gender is listed as male (heart of a woman), the heart of a woman being a japanese euphemism for being trans. yamato's is just female.
so with all this conflicting information, it's really unclear how exactly the audience is supposed to view this character.
now, with all that out of the way, its time to get into the fandom drama.
it is. as you can likely imagine. very very very ugly. there's a few different factions to this debate, but the main ones are 1) people who want positive trans rep in one piece 2) people who want to be horny for yamato without it being gay 3) people who want more top tier strength female characters. the fighting is visceral and unending and absolutely and entirely inescapable. no matter what pronouns you use for yamato you'll get people yelling at you. female? "no, he's trans. you are transphobic and personally want all trans people to die." male? "no, she's just roleplaying. youre a stupid liberal who cant read and should kill yourself." neutral? "how DARE you not pick a side!!!!! (read: my side)" this has been going on for two very very long years.
so, with all this in mind, its time to get to the grand climax. you see, one piece being your typical shounen, after everything is done and the villains have been vanquished and the heroes have won or whatever, we get our obligatory bath scene. yes, this whole stupid drama peaks at a bath scene. because this is shounen.
so one of the female characters asks yamato if he wants to bathe with them, and he says
Tumblr media
(ignore the stupid byplay in the background)
this is visibly juxtaposed with kiku, the trans woman saying that she'd be fine joining nami & the other women in the bath. the only way to interpret this is the author saying, "yes, yamato is transgender".
to say this single panel caused the fandom to explode would be the understatement of the century. for some more context here, the author was going on a month long break to prepare for the final saga of one piece after the next chapter (something that only happened one other time in the history of the series at a very big turning point), and it got so bad on r/onepiece that if you started a fight about yamato's gender you'd get banned for the month of the author's break and then a month after that.
it gets. it gets even dumber than that though. okay see the general culture on r/onepiece is “do not criticize our lord and savior goda” (the author's name is oda so its really just a bad portmanteau that doesnt really work when you say it out loud between oda and god) so any criticism, valid or invalid though it may be, is generally downvoted into oblivion and the comments are spammed with people generally being terribly obnoxious. sometimes this is deserved, and sometimes it isnt.
so last year, a bunch of people who were sick of it created a subreddit called r/piratefolk (named after the aot subreddit, which im assuming came into creation under the same circumstances, r/titanfolk). it was lauded by its like 8 members for being a place to discuss one piece in a somewhat normal fashion, where one can both praise and criticize the series fairly.
so when a certain very divisive chapter came out, the subreddit started attracting a whole lot more followers because r/onepiece was, as per usual, downvoting anybody who didnt like the reveal into oblivion. and thus it started to be filled with people who either a) were trolls who got banned from r/onepiece for breaking the rules and were mad about it, b) were upset about the turn the story had taken and wanted a place to complain where people would agree with them, or c) have genuinely disliked the series for a long time but go on the subreddit for some reason beyond me anyways.
so basically, the subreddit was flooded with people who just wanted to complain and criticize oda/op and r/onepiece. and this, as you can probably imagine, went to the only place it could - a toxic cesspool of reddit men who spend way too much time on their computers and not enough time learning basic reading comprehension skills, because who cares about that when you can call the person who disagreed with your bad one piece take a slur! also anybody who says anything good about oda or one piece is an r/onepiece goda apologist pysop who cant read.
so. badly.
so that was all well and good, r/memepiece people would dunk on them every now and again, you’d see somebody in the comments of a post on r/onepiece complaining about r/piratefolk users, an ardent r/piratefolk apologist would come out of the woodwork to defend their honor and get downvoted into oblivion, and so on and so forth.
now, with the release of chapter 1052 and yamato in the men’s bath
the subreddits had. a bit of a time. it was Not Pretty. r/onepiece has already been discussed, r/memepiece mostly just dunked on everybody and made some “wow yamato hot” posts and so on and so forth. and r/piratefolk

.. well. things got heated.
as has previously been stated, the inhabitants of r/piratefolk are That brand of Reddit Men, so god FORBID you imply theyre gay for jacking off to yamato’s BIG BOOBS. so this wonderful post was made,
Tumblr media
and all hell broke loose.
one of the relatively inactive mods of r/piratefolk looked at this and said “yeah okay no” and made a pinned post saying something along the lines of, “this is blatant transphobia. transphobia will not be tolerated.”
the comments were. well. bad. mostly full of people either a) crying because yamato boobs = yamato girl and mod is a stupid liberal b) saying the mod is an r/onepiece psyop or c) being generally transphobic.
so after this there were two subreddits created - r/nikafolk and r/godafolk, obviously derived from r/piratefolk. i forget exactly what the story behind these are but i believe r/nikafolk was started as a “place where people can talk about one piece freely” and by a guy who was banned from r/onepiece and possibly the r/piratefolk discord for generally being an awful person to be around. i dont remember squat about r/godafolk though.
the best part about it all though is that the whole debate was all for naught because none of it matters as of the most recent chapter for reasons i will not spoil. yamato continues to factkin (despite the fact that the reddit men were CONVINCED he'd drop it by the end of the arc), the subreddits had a collective meltdown, and i have been relishing in the sweet sweet schadenfreude for reasons i wont spoil. im feeling very smug right now and its been very funny to see all these terribly annoying people cry.
so yeah thats been the bulk of the one piece drama recently. i sincerely hope this did not put you off of reading the series because i promise its really really good and theres a lot i think you would really enjoy esp in regards to themes and characters and so on and so forth but unfortunately i cannot resist talking about this drama because i think theres something really funny about the author accidentally inventing factkinning and as a result, unknowingly causing drama that is probably beyond his wildest dreams in one of his foreign fandoms, even if it is a pretty bad look for the series.

i could make you care
[saiki kusuo x reader]
author’s note: i tried to incorporate as many characters into this as possible to make it feel like an actual episode and i got overwhelmed so fast lol i haven’t written this many characters in a story in a long time. in any case hope i did them justice and that you enjoy :’)
word count: 3,029
Today’s morning is bright, and Saiki’s walk is quiet. Typically this would be no cause for concern. A quiet walk to school is few and far between, difficult to come by given the company he keeps. (He’d much prefer a calmer bunch, if he were granted the chance to choose, but that is neither here nor there.) Don’t misunderstand: he’d bask in this brief peace, guaranteed to be broken the moment he passes through the gates of PK Academy, if the reason for this uncharacteristic period of silence comes about because of the absence of one particular person—someone who, if one could hardly believe it, Saiki actually prefers to have around more often than not.
He walks past the street which leads to your home, his pace never slowing because he expects you’ll join him, as you do every morning. You’ll wait for him on the corner and smile widely like you haven’t seen him in weeks then skip towards him, falling in step easily. He’ll remain nonplussed as you hug his arm, give it a brief squeeze as you greet him—Good morning, Kusuo!—and then promptly let go because you understand he likes his space but you just can’t help but indulge a little bit.
However, none of the aforementioned events play out this Friday. You’re not on the street corner, not there to smile and fall in step with him. There’s no arm hugging or a bubbly greeting Saiki pretends he isn’t affected by. But the truth is that he is, the routine coming somewhat as a comfort, even at the price of sacrificing some of his beloved personal space. So when you’re nowhere to be found his brows furrow and he wonders where you are.
His steps slow until he comes to a complete stop. He wants to check up on you, sooner rather than later. There isn’t much time to delay if he wants to make it to school before the first bell, but this won’t take long. He crosses his eyes, activating his clairvoyance, and he centers in on you immediately. You’re still at home. You’re at home, and you’re sick.
A box of tissues rests on your nightstand and you’ve pulled your small trash can right next to it from where it usually stands by your door. You toss used tissues into it before nestling beneath your blankets, pulling it up to just below your chin and hugging it close in order to retain heat. Your breath evens out quickly and he can tell you’re asleep. Your body must be exhausted dealing with your cold, and he’s confident this is the way you will be the rest of the day—drifting in and out of sleep, dealing with the sniffles and congestion.
He blinks and loses sight of you and now he’s staring once more down the road. Readjusting his bag on his shoulder with a sigh, he resumes walking and thinks about his plans for the day. As it was the last day of the school week, he’d planned to go to Cafe Mami for coffee jelly to celebrate. But now that he’s learned you’re sick in bed, he’d have to make adjustments. Momentarily he debates if that’s really necessary. You probably wouldn’t want visitors in the state you’re in, and knowing you, you’d tell him to go to the cafe without you to enjoy himself anyway. The thought is tempting, truly, yet he can’t shake the urge to check on you.
It feels less like an obligation and more like a simple desire of his own to make sure you’re okay. Saiki shakes his head, more amused than frustrated. There’s no one else for whom he would so willingly do this, or much else, for, and he doesn’t think he’d ever tell you because you’ll tease him the way you are wont to do whenever his facade cracks and he’ll let you have your fun because when you ask if you’re really so different as to make him act this way, the answer is, well, yes. You are.
He imagines this scenario and the corner of his lips lifts in a small smile. Good grief. You could be quite the handful.
“Hey, Saiki!”
Nendo’s voice is entirely too loud for the morning and Saiki heaves another sigh, one that sounds as though it belongs at the end of the day and not the beginning. Nendo is joined close behind by Kaidou and Kuboyasu, and they easily fill the silence with discussions about going to get ramen after class and the latest movements of the Dark Reunion. Saiki really only picks up words here and there that allude to the topic of conversation but it doesn’t require his full attention. It’s the same song and dance every morning.
The commotion once he arrives at school is much the same. During lectures he is afforded the temporary reprieve from having his ears talked off, since the only one speaking is the teacher, but at breaks, the noise resumes, and though he always stays sitting at his desk, in hopes the others will get the hint that he’s uninterested in chatting, they inevitably crowd themselves around it, until he is right in the middle.
Hairo has outlined a new workout regimen and in his louder than normal volume of speaking he shares it. He’s going to start it today, and if anyone wants to join, they’re more than welcome. It doesn’t look like anyone wants to take the offer, which is expected. Hairo’s exercise routines were
 a little extreme.
In any case, Hairo is nonplussed by the lack of enthusiasm from everyone else and remarks he can’t wait for the end of the school day.
“I think I’ve been losing muscle tone,” he laments, and he complements this statement with a casual flex of his arm, more so to point out the specific areas he thinks are getting soft rather than to show off, but even if he isn’t trying, his biceps are bulging and if his sleeves hadn’t been rolled up, they would have torn.
Saiki’s brow raises. Yeah
I don’t think that’s an issue for you, Hairo.
“I’ve just finished installing an indoor gym at my home, you know.”
Everyone turns to find Saiko has entered into the circle, a smug smirk on his face. When had he gotten here? Really it’s only Hairo who has any sort of reaction to this, eyes practically sparkling imagining the machines and equipment (or maybe that’s just the glare from the fluorescent classroom lights). All the same, Saiko relishes the attention, boasting of the privacy and space and how really, it’s so much easier to be productive if there’s no one else there but Saiki can only wonder if Saiko even works out at all. He doesn’t remember that being mentioned, and Saiki is nothing if not detail oriented.
Saiki doesn’t have long to ponder over this (not that it would’ve continued much longer because he doesn’t actually care about whether Saiko exercises or just set up a gym in his house to brag) before Nendo asks where you are.
Had he just noticed? You always join them on their walk in the morning. But Saiki can’t say he’s surprised it took this long. What he is surprised about is that Nendo had noticed in the first place.
ïżœïżœïżœOh that’s right,” Kuboyasu adds. “I thought she just went ahead of us today.”
Yumehara informs them of your whereabouts before Saiki does. “She texted me this morning she wasn’t feeling well so she stayed home.” Her phone dings with a new message and she glances at it, then looks back up. “But she says she’s a little more awake now!”
“It’s the Dark Reunion.” Kaidou’s sudden interjection draws everyone’s attention. He clenches his right fist, staring at the bandages wrapped around it. “They’re trying to get to me by going after my friends!”
Saiki remains expressionless but if he didn’t have such good control he would’ve rolled his eyes. Or maybe she just has a cold.
Upon Kaidou’s claim that a secret society is responsible for your illness, Saiki picks up Yumehara’s thoughts: I wish I was the one Kaidou was so worried about! Maybe if I got sick he’d worry about me too! Getting sick to grab Kaidou’s attention? That’s
going overboard, but Saiki can’t find it in him to be shocked, considering from whose mind this speculation has sprung.
“Poor [Name],” Teruhashi says, kind as always. She sets an index finger on her chin, gaze momentarily aimed upwards as she thinks. “I was about to suggest we all go to the cafe after school today and I wish she could join.”
This gives Saiki pause. Wait. The cafe?
“That sounds like a great idea!” Yumehara declares. Again Saiki hears her thoughts: If we go, I need to do my best sit next to Kaidou!
Whether a visit to Cafe Mami comes across as a good idea because it’s a fun way to celebrate the end of the school week or simply because Teruhashi suggested it, Saiki doesn’t know, but one by one the murmurs of assent resound through the group and he barely contains a relieved huff. He’d already changed his own plans from visiting the cafe to seeing you instead, and it’s a good thing too since it’s apparent his alone time would’ve been ruined. Now he has an excuse not to stick around.
Once the final bell rings, they begin their walk into town towards the cafe. The sidewalk feels crowded with all of them on it, and they have to split into pairs to keep the opposite side of the sidewalk free for people going the other way. Among comments from everyone else about how hungry they are, Saiki makes known his intention to just pick up food before leaving. There’s somewhere he needs to be.
“You’re going to go make sure [Name] is doing okay!” Teruhashi exclaims. It’s a statement, not a question. “That’s sweet of you.”
Saiki shrugs. “Sweet” is not the first word he would associate with his actions. It just seems like common sense to check on you. You’d looked miserable this morning, but he takes your message to Yumehara earlier as a good sign that you’re improving, slowly and surely. Still, he’d be more comfortable seeing you himself. He hadn’t gotten any other chances today to use his clairvoyance, but at least it wouldn’t be long now until he’d be heading to your house.
Chisato is working today and she seats everyone. Saiki goes directly to the counter to place his order—coffee jelly for him and strawberry mochi for you—and he stands off to the side while waiting for the treats to be packed. The others are sitting on the far side of the cafe (in his peripherals he sees Yumehara has taken a seat right next to Kaidou) but he can hear them clear as day discussing what food they should order. Yes, he’s certainly glad he won’t be sticking around. Spending Friday in the midst of that noise is far from ideal.
Holding the bag of coffee jelly and mochi in one hand, Saiki uses the other to push open the door, the bell jingling gently, and someone, Nendo it sounds like, raises their voice to shout across the room: Seeya later, Saiki! Then the door closes behind him, and all he can hear is the footsteps of other pedestrians and the low whoosh of cars.
He exhales slowly. Peace at last. He proceeds in the direction of your home, and when he thinks to himself that any longer and his ears might’ve begun to bleed, he’s only half joking.
In the neighborhood it’s much quieter, the only person he passes being someone walking their dog, and only a couple of cars drive past. He knocks on the door and he assumes you’re in your room and so it will take some time for you to open it, but you’re there faster than he expects. You open it just wide enough to stand in the gap, and immediately he notices the fatigue in your eyes. When you realize it’s him, they light up, and the fatigue fails to take away from the brightness of your smile as you open the door wider.
“Kusuo!”
Inside, he sees you’ve moved downstairs to the living room. That’s why you’d answered the door so quickly. There’s a pile of blankets on the couch and a tissue box on the coffee table. The television is on and playing an animation. He doesn’t recognize it, but it must be one of the new ones you mentioned wanting to watch. However, you’re not interested in it now that he's here and you grab the remote to turn down the volume.
“I thought you were going to the cafe today,” you state, head tilting.
Saiki shakes his head. Change of plans. Instead I brought the cafe to us. He holds up the bag of food and doesn’t have to tell you what’s in it. You squeal in delight that he’s come bearing treats, but the sound is a little raspy and awkward due to your sore throat. It’s still easier on Saiki’s ears than the earlier commotion he’d been surrounded with and, if he’s honest, it’s cute.
You plop down on the couch and wait as he joins you. He unties the bag and opens the box, first taking out the packaged pink mochi and handing it to you. Then he grabs his coffee jelly and the plastic spoon it came with before settling back against the cushions.
You sit cross-legged facing him and bite into your soft and squishy treat, humming delightedly. “Thanks, Kusuo.”
Saiki chews a mouthful of coffee jelly and glances at you.
You grin and hold up the mochi. “For the snack and for coming to see me.”
He shrugs because it’s no big deal. Or, well, he tries to play it off like it’s no big deal. But you know him better than that, better than most others do, and don’t brush it off so quickly. You breathe out dramatically and set a hand on your chest.
“What must I have done for Kusuo Saiki to give up his quiet time for me?” Then you giggle, and  it’s punctuated at the end by a sniffle.
He tells you there would’ve been no quiet time at the cafe since the others had also decided to go, and that you’re much better company. Even when I’m sneezy? you ask him, and he chuckles. Yes, even when you’re sneezy.
His remark about coming to see you because he’d prefer to be here and not at the cafe with the rest of your friends is merely part of the truth. The rest of it is that he did genuinely want to check on you to make sure you were okay. Though to give this a voice felt like too much for someone typically so reserved in his feelings, but you understand perfectly fine as you smile softly. You’re appreciative of his actions, and it would seem Teruhashi had been right about them, for you murmur that he reminds you of the mochi you’re eating: You’re so sweet!
Grabbing your mug from the coffee table, you frown when you see it’s empty. “I ran out of tea.”
Saiki sets the spoon and now empty container back in the box then holds his hand out. You blink, momentarily confused, but when it registers what he’s doing, you give him the mug. As he stands to make his way into the kitchen, you call after him.
“Thank you!”
Having been to your house a number of times already, he knows where everything is and starts brewing a fresh cup of tea. You’ve turned the volume up on the television again, but you have to rewind to return of the spot you were at before he’d arrived. Once he comes back with a filled mug, instead of allowing it to continue to play, you pause your show.
You’d snuggled beneath the blankets and have to finagle your arms out of the multiple layers to take the mug from him. You say thanks again and blow gently at the tendrils of steam floating from it. The ceramic is warm in the palms of your hands and you sigh contentedly.
“Sorry I’m a little high maintenance today,” you apologize suddenly. “I’d make the tea myself but I just have such little energy
”
Saiki wishes you wouldn’t apologize because there’s nothing to be sorry for. So he tells you as much. Don’t apologize. Besides, he’d offered to make that tea, and if you wanted soup, he’d offer to make that too. He does understand where you come from, however. You tend to be more independent, opting to do things yourself, and you also know his propensity for being alone and needing space. As such, you’re careful not to be overbearing, and the idea of Saiki doing even little tasks like brewing you tea bothers you.
It’s endearing, the level of care you take to make sure he’s comfortable too, but when he says you’re far from high maintenance, he means it. You immediately understand what he’s implying and laugh before scooting closer and leaning your head on his shoulder.
“Okay, point made,” you concede. With a small smile, Saiki grabs the remote you’d tossed down on the couch and presses play.
He would struggle to call you high maintenance on any day considering who your friends are.  They’re loud and all over the place, practically bouncing off the walls. Life could hardly be tranquil when around them and their antics. It’s the total opposite of Saiki, who values calm and silence. If they were high maintenance, he was low maintenance. That’s the way he prefers to be, existing in relative quiet and as close to mediocrity as he can muster. But he can't say he’s opposed to the occasional interruption to the otherwise mundane, especially where it concerns you. You’re not to be found on one side or the other, but right in the middle, and to Saiki, you are just right.

"Wake up," a hazy voice made its way through your eardrums. Your body refused to respond despite the nagging tone roaring at you to come back from your dreamscape. You croaked out an incoherent mumble, shifting around unconsciously on your bed. A soft click resounded as your bedroom lights were switched on, causing you to grimace uncomfortably at the sudden brightness.
"Don't you think it's time for you to get out of bed?"
It took you a minute to register your mother's words as grogginess slowly faded from your half-woken state.
"Why don't you ever let me sleep in?" you grumbled.
"It's already noon."
"So what?" you yawned, sitting up with your arms stretching out.
“Get up,” your mother sang cheerily. "We're going to decorate Kurumi's house for the party."
Your eyes heavily blinked a few times and your head tilted to one side, hoping that you heard her wrong. The last you checked, your neighbours’ halls were decked and loaded enough to practically be Santa’s workshop.
"I don't think they need any more decorations," you retorted.
"But we don’t think it’s festive enough," your mother explained.
You crossed your arms, eyebrows knitting together. Of course they would find an excuse to make things more over the top. Still, you knew better than to waste your breath in arguing against their logic.
“Don’t you have to go to work?” you remarked sharply.
“I took the rest of the month off so we could plan for the party.”
A frustrated groan hit your throat as your head fell back to face the ceiling.
“Why are you acting so disappointed?” your mother snarked while she forcefully dragged you out of bed, pushing you to get ready and leaving you alone in your room.
“Wear something nice okay? Kusuo is gonna be there,” she commanded sternly, her voice muffled from the other side of the door.
You dug through your closet as your eyes rolled back. Why did it matter what he thought of how you looked?
"You know we broke up a long time ago right?" you quipped, putting on a random outfit.
"I know," your mother replied.
"So why does it seem like you're forcing us to spend time together?"
You could almost imagine her batting her eyelashes at you, a widely innocent smile adorning her face as she said, “I don't know what you mean." You scoffed at her words as you stared at the mirror, fixing up your appearance.
She grabbed your wrist as soon as you left the room, dragging you along with her. Before you knew it, your mother was ringing the buzzer of your neighbour’s house while you both stood outside the gate. Mrs. Saiki happily welcomed you both into her home, quickly guiding you to the living room.
“You wanted more decorations?” you confirmed, gawking dubiously at the excessive embellishments around you.
Mrs. Saiki shared an obscure look with your mother, an ambiguous conversation passing between them. “Yes, that’s right,” your neighbour replied, “ I need this place to be even more festive for the party.”
You heard the patter of footsteps marching down the stairs. A familiar blond head popped into the room with a cheeky smile spread on his lips.
“Are we having guests right now?”
“Kuusuke, it’s so good to see you again,” your mother called out. The blond man walked up to you, giving you and your mother a quick greeting.
“Where’s Kuu-chan?” Mrs. Saiki inquired.
“I’m sure he’ll be down in a bit,” Kuusuke responded politely.
As if on cue, you picked up on the sound of another person descending from the second floor. Kusuo joined his brother, standing a foot away from him. His face remained blank as he skimmed the room before his eyes fell on your own. You shyly looked at the ground, eyeing the dark patterns of the wooden tiles. Your mother gushed heartily over him just as she did with his older brother.
“Oh, I just realized that I don’t have any more decorations for the party,” Mrs. Saiki gasped. Probably because she already used up all of it.
You turned to your mother, getting ready to call it a day so you could head back to bed, but the hand she placed on your shoulder halted you from making a move.
“Why don’t you go to the mall and buy some?” she suggested with a suspicious grin she tried so obviously to hide.
You blinked at her, hoping that the subtle glare you gave her made it obvious that you were not in the mood to be granting any favours.
“Your dad took the car to work, so it’ll be more convenient for you since you can drive,” she pointed out.
“Will that be okay?” Mrs. Saiki asked.
You pursed your lips as you looked at her pleading face. She was too sweet that it was basically impossible for you to say no to her.
“Yeah, that’s fine,” you answered after a moment’s hesitation.
“That’s great,” she proclaimed as she smiled at you excitedly. “Kuu-chan, you should tag along,” she advised her youngest son. Kusuo didn’t say anything as he looked at his mom’s overjoyed expression. You hoped that he would have the courage to deny her request, just this one time.
Kusuo nodded once after shifting his gaze on your frame. You bit your lip, breaking eye contact with him again.
“Maybe I should go with them as well,” Kuusuke cut in.
The two women looked at each other, alarm written all over their faces. “You shouldn’t bother yourself with that,” Mrs. Saiki urged.
“No, this is nothing,” Kuusuke assured.
“Don’t you have work to do?” his mother mentioned, looking intently at him.
Kuusuke stared back at her in bewilderment for a quick second before his mouth popped open in realization. “That’s right, I have to do work. While I’m on vacation,” he laughed lightheartedly, “They’ll get the job done without me.”
The two women shared another glance, a wide beam on both their faces.
“Why do you guys keep looking at each other?” you wondered.
“That’s enough talking, both of you need to go,” your mother nervously giggled. She hastily pushed you out of the house with your ex-boyfriend, slamming the door shut behind you.
Kusuo gazed at you expectantly when you peered at him, a silent pause falling between you two for a few seconds. You hurriedly turned away as you reluctantly led him to your car.
Tumblr media
"What the hell is this?" you exclaimed, ogling the Elf on the Shelf figurine displayed on a table inside the store you occupied.
'Do they really want this?' Kusuo’s question rang in your mind as he held it up.
You shrugged lightly. “It’s clearly written in here," you uttered, pointing at the long list of items your mother texted to you. "Anyways, that's everything we need to buy. Let's get out of this place." You put your phone away, shoving your hands in your pockets.
A glimmer of white caught your attention from the corner of your eye as you searched for your wallet. Settled beside the spot where the elf doll used to be was a charming little snow globe. You picked it up, shaking its contents and observing the intricate design of the snowman and the floating snowflakes trapped in the glass.
"Remember that time when Kaidou and Nendou asked us to make a snowman with them?” you murmured.
'Don't remind me.'
“And you actually went with us even though you didn’t want to, because you thought something was gonna happen to them," you continued.
‘Better to be safe than sorry.’
"But they were actually just gonna put on an act," you snickered, "That was the dumbest thing I've ever heard." You smiled tenderly at the treasured memory as you put the globe down. A wave of nostalgia hit you at the thought of your high school days before your relationship went downhill. You looked away from Kusuo as you noticed the corners of his lips lifting the slightest bit.
Distractedly, you headed to the cash register to pay for the final item on your list.
'Oi.'
Kusuo grabbed your shoulder, pulling you to him. You barely had any time to react as a group of kids passed by you, yelling gleefully as they ran into the spot where you would have been had you not been yanked away.
'Watch where you're going,' Kusuo warned.
"Sorry," you mumbled, holding your breath anxiously. All at once, you were painfully aware of the arm that wrapped itself around you.
Kusuo dropped his hand from your shoulder, stepping back from you. A spark of electricity lingered from the loss of his touch.
The two of you stayed silent as you awkwardly turned away from him, paying for the little elf toy and exiting the store. You tried to stop thinking about his chest being pushed against you, mindful of the fact that he can read your mind.
Your mind wandered to anything that could distract you as you made it to the parking lot, unlocking your car with the push of a button. How you hated going Christmas shopping. How you hated that your mother was forcing you to go to her Christmas party. How your neighbours didn't even need more decorations. How Kusuo was so confusing sometimes. You stopped in your tracks.
Kusuo looked up at you curiously, waiting for you to speak your mind as you debated whether or not you should ask him what's been bothering you.
“The other day, what did you mean by, ‘that’s not the case’?” you demanded after a few seconds of deliberation.
He let out a soft snort. An eternity seemed to pass before he gave an answer, ‘You can’t possibly think that I ever stopped caring for you.’  His blank expression disappeared as his eyes burned into yours.
You gave him a disbelieving look as your shoulders tensed up. The words you’ve longed to hear for so long never felt so foreign, so incredulous. He clearly agreed with you when you thought it was best to end your relationship a year ago. So what was he doing sending you mixed signals now?
He let out a sigh. Kusuo left your side, taking his place on the passenger’s seat of your car. It took you a moment to come back to your senses as you robotically got on the driver's side, revving the engine to life.
You turned on the radio, hoping that the intrusion of noise would help to get rid of the tension between you two as a familiar tune by Wham blasted through your speakers. The station was set on playing holiday music, it seemed. The song you used to put on repeat last Christmas drowned out your thoughts.

author’s note: hi, ceci!!! nice to meet you! thank you so much for this request!!
Tumblr media
→ before making friends with him ←
↘ Your first day at the PK Academy was... funny and very unusual. I mean, imagine that during each break you met new friends (Nendou, Kaidou, Reita or even Hairo) who tried to impress you, but you already knew quite a lot about them thanks to your beloved notebook with which you never parted.
↘ It was quite fun to greet Aren during lunchtime, who pretended to be a well-behaved and super kind boy when he was previously a hooligan and getting into fights. Or Kokomi, who called you a very cute person, when you knew perfectly well that she wasn’t as nice as she what she claimed to be and deep down she still considered herself superior to others.
↘ You also met Saiki, but not like you thought you would. The pink-haired boy didn’t stand out with anything special, he was just an ordinary and average student. The only thing that set him apart from the rest of the people around you is that your book didn’t specify exactly who Kusuo is. As if... there weren’t enough pages and the right words to describe his person and his favorite things, abilities or desires. This interested you more than it should have; you just wanted to know him more.
↘ The thin, leather and old notebook luckily told you that Saiki had a soft spot for sweets and coffee jelly. So one day you invited him to a restaurant for mentioned dessert, and then when you two returned to your houses, you just asked him if he had anything to do with witchcraft and supernatural powers. Whether he is a witch or a mag. You smiled at him then, and he frowned.
↘ “Good grief. No, I’m not.” He sighed telepathically, then explained to you who he was while making you breathe a sigh of relief; no gonna lie, you both breathed a huge sigh, because the boy himself was concerned about the fact that he couldn’t read your mind.
↘ Before you were afraid that your notebook is broken, but now you just knew that Saiki was too powerful even for your magic book. Likewise, he shook his head in amusement and realized that you were simply blocking most of his powers, from telepathy to turning you to big, human stone.
↘ Shortly after that, your slowly developing friendship began, surrounded by shared secrets and coffee jelly.
→ currently ←
↘ The weeks passed and two of you were still next to each other, sharing your thoughts on even the greatest stupidity and all kinds of ideas.
↘ Saiki, oddly enough, never found you irritating or insincere. He couldn’t read your mind, but he knew you were always truthful with him; the facial expressions, smile and hand gestures told a lot about you. That’s why he trusted you a long time ago and knew perfectly well that he could talk or write a text message to you if it’s necessary.
↘ As people with supernatural strengths, you understood each other very well and better than anyone around you two. He knew your all fears and uncertainties, and you knew his every weaknesses (even if he didn’t talk about them, your notebook was a huge help, you know what about I mean).
↘ Your friendship was really patient, trusting and honest. Neither of you thought that you would ever get to know a person so well who also understand you so quickly.
↘ Of course, you helped each other when it needed; Saiki was saving your clumsy ass from falling off and you were in front of his house in less than a quarter of an hour with a bag full of jelly and other sweets when you noticed that his current thoughts and mood were written in your own old notebook.
↘ ‘Could there be a better couple of friends in the world than two of you?’ No. ‘Could you both be even better than a minute ago?’ Yes, because your friendly feelings for each other grew every day and your trust was still intact and strong.
↘ “... Hey, Saiki-kun. I’m glad you are here with me.” You always spoke when you felt a great need to do so.
↘ “Well.” A little, red flush appeared on his pale face and he quickly looked away at the big, blue sky. “Who else would have saved your books or you from falling on the floor or ground if not me?” He added, purring, but you knew that under the boy’s tsundere mask there was a really warm and grateful psychic one.

Tenipuri Party: Tezuka Kunimitsu profile translation
TN:
In the absence of an official English version, this translation is intended to help those who can’t read the material in the original language. Please support Tenipuri by getting your own copy of this book - it is worth it! There are various ways of purchasing it even for those not living in or visiting Japan.
The pictures I have included in this post do not show full pages.
On the translation: this time I’m aiming for a more direct, “Japanese-sounding” translation to share the mood of the content more as it is. This will probably cause some sentences to appear weird in English.
On Tezuka’s style of speech: his word choices and sentence structures are mostly polite and serious.
I’m still working on Japanese, so there might be mistakes. Please let me know if you spot any translation errors so I can fix them here!

Scenes
Injuries, seizing the nationals
Tezuka Kunimitsu overcame numerous challenges that waited for him and seized glory. But he is not a man who would be satisfied with that. From now on too, I want to pay attention to the steep path of him who moved over to Germany.
(Quotes on pictures:)
“I will not lose.”
“Saiki kanpatsu no kiwami!?”
“And then Seigaku’s era will begin once again!”
“Now, let’s go without carelessness.”
Indeed, it should perhaps be called a “Tezuka zone”.
“Hyakuren jitoku no kiwami!?”
This boy’s tennis is certainly Ten’imuhou no kiwami!?
“No matter who I will end up fighting
 I will win!”

The German representatives’ strained atmosphere connects to rapid development (*1)
Tezuka-senshu (*2) becoming a German representative was a shock. Did you not have worries about this decision?
If I said no, it would be a lie. However, as to what is important for me as someone aiming to become a professional, I judged it to be fighting as a German representative and based my decision on that.
Specifically, the currently important thing for Tezuka-senshu is
?
Most of all, it is actual experience of fighting at a higher level. At the German training centre, I have the fortunate chance to rally with top pros like Volk-senshu. Even in practice, they are always making hypotheses as to which shot they should hit, what kind of a play they should make in any kind of match circumstances when they are standing on the court. Having put myself in such a strained atmosphere, I can truly feel my level of experience rising rapidly.
Any bewilderment at facing your former comrades
?
Whoever will become my opponent will not be a problem. But, at first, I thought I was feeling sorry. However, at the time of fighting Japan in the exhibition match, I came to realise my heart was throbbing about competing against them. But just fighting as sworn friends, it is not to elevate ourselves. Rather, by putting a net in-between and confronting each other, the light can come from a new angle and hasten growth - that is what I believe right now.
Then, what is Tezuka-senshu’s current objective or dream?
Upon seizing the world, to hold up the flag of Germany that showed in me, a foreigner. If the opponent for that match were to be Japan, there would not be higher joy.
In a well-ordered and non-negligent environment, pleasant days go on
Have you already grown accustomed to life in Germany?
Yes. Everything proceeds very systematically, so in that sense, it sometimes feels like it is actually even more pleasant than in Japan.
What things for example are like that?
Everyone is already gathered around 15 minutes before the set meeting time. The notion of ecology is growing, so most customers carry eco bags for their shopping, and the separation of waste is enforced thoroughly. Everything is done logically, and it’s an environment without negligence.
I see. It suits the serious Tezuka-senshu perfectly. Then, how do you spend your days off?
Touring antiquarian bookshops is currently my biggest enjoyment. From Goethe to Ende, I have been able to acquire several original texts that I couldn’t in Japan. Also, when time and money allow, I try to go to classical concerts.
What about the German language?
The German language too is a very systematic and logical language. There are very few exceptions, as long as one memorises the basic grammar and idioms, it is quite effective to use. Of course I still lack study, and there are many points where I lack experience, but words are not the only means of communication. Rather, sometimes it is facial expressions that speak more eloquently.
Facial expressions
?
Yes. Facial expressions.

Party talk
Q: Who would you like to inform about this time’s rank and feelings? A: My family. My grandfather too is always supporting me.
Q: You are being served a lot of food. A: Ooishi. I’m grateful, but it’s already enough. I’m eating sufficiently
I tasted Japanese unacha for the first time in a while.
Q: You can also take part in an improvisation skit competition. A:
No, thank you. I was able to enjoy it quite a lot just by watching.
Q: You got excited with Bismarck-san, though... A:
I was merely unilaterally lectured about how to flirt with women.
Q: Who did you come to the venue with today? A: With the German representative senpai. In addition to training, we measured the time and ran to the venue.
Q: Oh? Is there something the matter with Echizen-kun? A: No. I just thought he seems to have gained experience and grown somewhat.

Room
Bedroom of the room I’m staying in in Germany There’s only bare minimums like the bed and desk that were part of the furnishings. But I’m thankful that letters and daily necessities have been delivered from Japan. Overall, I like the things made from wood and seeing the townscape from the window.
TN:
*1 ćŒ”ă‚Šè©°ă‚ăŸ, haritsumeta. Strained, stretched, tense. Not strained in the sense of anxious or having problems. It seems more like everyone is ambitious and focused.
*2 遞手, senshu: player, athlete. I chose to leave this as it is since the interviewer uses it all the time as an honorific, and couldn’t figure out a natural expression in English.
*3 é€ŁćˆéŸłæ„œäŒš, rengou ongaku kai. This seems to be some kind of an annual music event that at least schools participate into.
*4 It seems like a mistake that age 15 is placed at September, not October.

Headcanons for if Kaidou’s sister got a crush on Saiki
Fic time here we go babeyy. Starring the lovely Kaidou Sora.
Tumblr media
It was a rough and cold day. One with winds that whipped you back and forth with no mercy. It was the kind of day that would gain your trust by having the sun tickle your skin, and then destroy the fragile warmth with a booming and freezing breeze. Sora wished she had stayed inside instead of going to the store to buy eggs for her mother. She cursed under her breath as another dreaded wind came and tangled her hair.
"Shun...? Shun!" She spotted her older brother loitering outside of another grocery store.
"...Sora?" He jumped, turning to face the smaller female "Oh, hey. Heading home?" She nodded.
"Well, I have Saiki with me. I can drive you home though" he turns to the pink haired boy who was still eyeing a rack of coffee jelly from outside of the store window.
"Drive? You can't drive. This isn't America, dumbass. You're not old enough to get a license and you don't even have any type of vehicle with.... you..." she slowed her words upon seeing him walk up and start a motorcycle with some unappealing (not to mention, chuuni) decorations; only shun would decorate something to look that stupid.
"I forgot you had one.." she awed. Though, the last thing she needed was more wind slapping her face "But no thanks. I'll walk. You don't even have an extra helmet."
Saiki turned to the bike he had been pure pressured into bringing. 'Yare yare' he mumbled as he sat down too fast, causing his head to ache. This place was crowded, so it made sense that his head would hurt naturally- or, that's what he thought until he saw Shun's sister getting kidnapped. Good grief. No way to sit still after seeing that.
'Hey' saiki called out to her, placing a helmet on her head. 'You can ride on the back of mine. It's going to be dark soon and then it'll get even colder.' He said, walking back to his motorcycle.
"Alright, fine" she got onto the seat behind him. Shun smiled at Saiki before starting his bike down the road, and the psychic then followed.
The wind came strong and angry. Sharp and bitter. It threatened to kick her off of the bike and caused her to have to wrap her arms tighter around the boy infront of her. He didn't care much for the wind. Nothing special, no reason for his heart to race because with his powers, his instincts don't sense danger. It wasn't much painfully cold, either. With his pyrotechnics it wasn't a problem at all.
Maybe I should tell him to stop... this is too cold Sora thought to herself
Saiki sighed as he used his fire power very carefully to bring heat to her body as well. He can't have Shun coming to school crying about his sister everyday. Especially when it's so easy to avoid.
This feeling...
Oh no.
it's gotten so warm... next to Saiki.. no, it must be that I... I have a crush..?
Good grief... this is uncomfortable the psychic thought
.....
And in days to come, the Jet Black Wing's sister would come to bother him about his friends. After that, her crush began to develop in a similar way to Chiyo. She would watch him with eyes that saw a round eyed prince. She would admire how smart and well mannered he is, and she would act especially polite when he made his presence infront of her.
Saiki Kusuo, was also thinking about her often. However; not in the way you might be thinking. He was forming strategies on how to avoid her. All of which were miserably failing. With her mother and his mother on her side, she couldn't fail. Discovering his family power structure, she would have Shun call Kurumi (his mother) and invite him over.
And with her own mother bothering Shun to hang out with his two "genius" friends everytime his grades would slip. Of course, Nendou rarely came because he was "always busy" (in reality, Shun didn't want Nendou and his mother interacting anymore in fear of her finding out that he's an idiot)
So, of course, this all worked out best for Sora.
.....
The group of four walked home like usual. Kuboyasu, Nendou, Saiki and Kaidou. They were discussing which character in Shounen Jump is the weakest while Saiki was praying for Nendou to ask them to ramen so that he didn't have to go to Kaidou's house again. Sora had been coming up with gifts for her crush so that he would take notice and start a conversation with her. Of course, she had almost no idea what would peak the boy's interest.
"Hey, Saiki. I thought maybe it would be a good time to ask you" Kuboyasu, the former delinquent spoke up. "Heard there's somethin' weird behind that 100 yen store. Wanna come check it out?" He offered.
Saiki almost shook his head and provided an excuse on instinct before remembering his main goal (to bLow up and act I like dont know nobody aghaghaghaa.) So he simply nodded.
"I wish I could come see!" Kaidou beamed before looking back down to the ground dramatically "yes... I wish I still had time to question those weird things around me... to leisure in activities like such. Though, I have a sacred duty at hand..." he clenched his bandaged fist
"Gotta take a shit? Me too" Nendou chimed in.
"NO, IDIOT! I have cram sch-- I um.. I m..mean I have to meet with the phantom force! Th-that I'm helping train to work as soldiers against dark reunion!!" He stumbled all over his sentence before finally turning his body to strut off over to the direction of his house.
"Shun. I need you to help me with.. homework" his sister quickly requested and dragged him into her room, pushing him on the floor infront of the small table that sat in the middle of the room, just like his.
"What can you tell me about your friends? Start with Saiki kun" she reached for a notepad and a pen.
"Shouldn't you be referring to him as senpai or something because he's a second year?" He mentioned before being cut with her glare. "R..Right! Okay, sorry... he likes sweets an-"
"Sweets and what!? Why'd you stop??" Sora pressed
"Why do you need to know about my friends? Is this a homework assignment..?" He questioned her
"Yeah sure." She rushed "he likes sweets and what?"
"Ohh! I think I remember having this assignment in middle school, too! You're supposed to write about your closest friends and their interests right~?" He thought back to his middle school year and looked at her with warm eyes. Empathy began filling his soft face, adjusting his features on her. "Sora, I couldn't make any friends in middle school either, so...!" He began "I've noticed you've been really nice to Saiki.. so if you want to be friends with my friends-!"
"I can make friends. I'm not some lonely loser like you who needs a hero complex to interact with people his age." She interrupted, sending an imaginary arrow through the highschooler's chest.
"Guh-- well if you don't want my help then in leaving!!" He stood up and caught notice of a small hand stopping him
"Wait! I'm sorry.." She got onto her feet and bowed "I'm just... embarrassed about not having friends." She lied, not wanting her brother to know she had the hots for his bestfriend.
Her phone chimed, once, and then again. It was three of her friends trying to reach her to hang out at the movies. Then she got a phone call, interrupted by another phone call.
"You should answer those" shun said
She hesitantly picked up the phone and answered the call.
"Put it on speaker" her brother ordered.
"...okay.."
<"heyyyy! Sora where have you been? Me and everyone else wanted to go to the movies with you. You're always knee-deep in studying so we wanted to help you relax a bit for once. You've been out of school for like, three days just shadowing and checking out Pk academy. It's still a while before we get into high school, grandma~! Anyway, the 7 of us wanted to show we love you by taking you to see that movie you mentioned wanting to see. So get ready, we want to be there by 7:30"> the girl on the phone ranted on before Sora could speak up against it, and hung up.
".....Shun-"
"SEVEN!?" he exclaimed as Sora rushed into another apology. This must be the first time he's ever made HER scared of HIM.
"Don't apologize Sora!! That's amazing, I'm so happy you have great friends... ahyuuu...." he teared up
"Oh... thanks, I guess"
"But one thing" he said and stopped her from leaving the room
"Huh?"
"Why did you need to know about my friends for that project?" He tilted his head
She looked over to the door knob as if she was begging it for help as her face was overpowered by a dark red hue. "W....we-well-- Sh...shut up! Get out! I need to get dressed!!" She pushed him out.
"Ow!! Ouch~! I'll leave!!" He practically screeched as he was rushed out. "But I'll stand outside of the door until you admit!"
A few minutes later, she yanked open the door and sprinted down the hallway. She knew her small brother wouldn't be able to catch her with how weak and slow he is.
But her little brother could.
She tripped and landed on her face after having her legs caught and wrapped in bandages by Toki Kaidou.
"Now tell me why!" Shun stood proudly over her despite not having done anything.
Toki went back to his room as Sora nearly freed her feat from the poorly tied bandages, that is before Shun, someone who actually knew how to tie a knot, fixed them.
"Fine!! Just let me go!" She yelled at him "I... is there any reason for it? I think he's cool. You can always have new friends. You're just stupid and think that 7 is the max" her face was once again drenched in a dark pink color.
"Oh my god." He said
"What!?"
"You like him!!!" His eyes widened as he stood up frantically. "You have a crush on Saiki!!"
"Yeah, so what about it!?" Sora snapped at him
Shun gasped "Sora!! You're only in middle school-"
"Yet I'm more put together than you are" she said defensively
"But that's still kind of wrong.. we're about to be third years and you're not even in highschool yet..."
"I will be by the time you're third years though!!" She shouted, then slumped down.
"Yes- bu-" he began, getting cut off
"I know. I just... I really like him and I've never liked a guy before. I know it's stupid." She sighed, defeated
"No no, Sora I'm sorry... You can't control who you like, right? I was being mean-" he began
"It's fine, you're right about it being weird. Just untie me so I can go to my room"
"What about the movies with your friends?"
"...whatever"
....
'Yare yare,' Saiki sighed, taking another bite from one of the homemade cookies Sora had anonymously sent him before placing it down and uncrossing his eyes. (he had checked with his powers and knows the cookies were from her)
'I guess it can't be helped' he sighed once more before sending out a telepathic signal
"Sora!" She sang as she knocked on the large door infront of her.
"Hello?" Shun answered and opened the door wider for the girl to come in "you're one od her friends!" He chirped "She said she isn't feeling well enough for the movies; I think you should try cheering her up."
"Oh, okay... um, where would her room be?" Upon entering the house, the girl suddenly grew nervous. For some reason.
"Here, I'll show you" Shun lead her to Sora's door and sprinted away to hide before the girl could knock on it.
"What do you want." Sora snapped after hearing the door knock
"Eek! Sorry, I just.. uhm...wa it's Yui! your b..brother let me in" she stuttered unlike how she spoke on the phone
The door opened and inside was a girl with messy hair and red eyes. An embrace came soon after.
I thought you might've needed a hug... Yui intended to say, but instead voiced out:
"You... h.,,hug. Yeah. Needed yes...mn"
Sora laughed, at first came a weak chuckle, then as the hug parted it became a strong belly laugh (upon seeing Yui's flustered face)
.....
"Shun!" Sora called, making the timid boy jump and start shaking from fear
"Y-yes?" He was sweating bullets
"I'm going to the movies with my girlfriend." She took Yui's clammy hand and headed towards the door.
Shun blinked. "Wh--"
