I finally finished playing the yttd emotion route AND the mini episodes (I had only played through the logic route beforehand), and it made me want to doodle a bunch of characters I haven't drawn yet. Except for the top two. I just wanted to draw Joe and Ranmaru.

i just remembered something ive been thinking about since i was reading Mogami arc. Mogami CHEATS

he was all high and mighty with his “this is how everyone would REALLY ACT in REAL SITUATIONS” and im not doubting him, im sure he was being very honest about this aspect up until these panels. Mob, despite everything he was put through by Mogami and Minori, is letting her off the hook. he even seems a little hesitant to tell her off when he sees how scared she is! he’s yet to let these experiences make him cruel and unforgiving. in the anime he’s cut off with a rock to the head, but here? the only interference is from MOGAMI of all people. when Mogami comes to the conclusion that his plan has essentially failed, he takes action. directly signaling something in Minori to then do this:

now im sure this isnt an impossible situation. im sure that she isnt just carrying that around for no reason and WOULD use it whenever she felt like it. however, in this particular moment, Mogami manipulated this action to occur. it wasnt a natural reaction from Minori. Mob wasn’t giving him the reaction he wanted, so he gave him a little extra push. i just think that’s a very important distinction from the path the anime took, where it makes it seem that Mogami’s plan worked a lot better than it did in the manga

I remember watching YTTD playthroughs on YouTube after 3-1b came out and seeing a lot of people in the comments hating on the logic route and going on about how Nankidai must have intended for it to be some sort of “punishment” for choosing Sou over Kanna and like. I’m sorry. Did you not see the appeal of Ranmaru going beast mode. Did you really feel punished when Sou got offended at the drink machine because Sara lied about it having soup. Ranmaru murking one of the Yabusames was a small price to pay for “That would make it look like the interior of your head Miss Sara 😄” .

I had first seen a play through of yttd (Michaela laws) and she did the emotion route (reko/kanna).

I found out that I could just play the game for myself so I started playing from chapter 3A. I decided to skip the recap and just play. I chose the alice and shin route because I hadn’t seen it before.

I pressed on like “oh Sara is kinda fucked!” Thinking that was normal. And then the scene in the classroom happened with ranmaru and I was thoroughly baffled.

And then Alice fucking died and I was sad all day.

as graduation winds down, tsukishima kei stands in the courtyard, looking out over karasuno high once last time. he holds his diploma tightly in his right hand, waving goodbye to some of his friends, rejecting the idea of having dinner with them, knowing that they will get a lot of chances to do so, as the majority of them will go to the same university, except for those like kageyama, yachi and hinata who have bigger dreams that require moving cities or even countries.

kei’s usual calm facade is in place, but inside, he feels the weight of the day, the end of high school, of volleyball with his team and of seeing you every day.

graduation is still one year away from you, getting into your third year this april. kei spots you waiting for him at the edge of the crowd that is going out of one last time and others like you, who still have years of high school to go through.

as he approaches you, he sees your beautiful eyes shimmering with unshed tears and his hearts soften even harder. he walks over and without a word, you fall into step together, wandering off-campus towards the tsukishima household. as you walk, you clutch the sleeve of his jacket and he lets you, walking in silence until you are in his house.

kei leaves his diploma on the living room as you walk upstairs to his room. the sight of the bare walls and some of his belongings in boxes makes you feel sad as you sit down on the floor, waiting for him.

as kei enters the bedroom, he gives you a cup of tea and you mutter a quick thank you, carefully leaving it on his bedside table, waiting for it to get cold.

“why’d you have to go and get all emotional?” he murmurs, though his voice lacks any of its usual sarcasm. there’s a quiet vulnerability in his tone as he pulls your hand into his.

you let out a shaky laugh, looking down, avoiding his gaze. “i… i don’t know. i know i’ll see you again. you’re not moving that far and it will only take me a bus to get to you but… it’s hard, thinking about not seeing you every day.” your voice breaks a little, and you quickly swipe at your eyes.

“you know what? i’m glad i won’t have to change my route to walk with you from your house to school”

you playfully punch his arm and he laughs, muttering a it’s a joke softly. for a moment, kei is quiet and when you glance up at him, you’re surprise to see a sheen of tears in his own eyes. kei clears his throat, looking away as if it he was embarrassed but his finders hold onto yours a little tighter.

“come here,” he says softly, reaching down to his jacket, fumbling for a second as he pulls off the second button, pressing it gently into your hand. you stare down at it, heart squeezing. kei holds your chin with his hand, pulling it up to stare into your eyes, his voice barely above a whisper. “this… i’ll be waiting for you, you know? i don’t want anyone else.”

your hand closes tightly over the button, tears finally slipping down your cheeks. before you can even mutter a thing, kei pulls you into his arms, holding you close. you feel his heart beat, fast and strong and you place a hand on his chest as his hand gently cradles your head.

“i hate this too,” he whispers against your hair, his voice rough, breaking slightly. “leaving without you.”

when he finally pulls back, there’s a tear slipping down his cheek, and for once, he doesn’t seem to care that you see it. he just reaches out, brushing a thumb across your cheek to catch your tears, as if that’s all he can do to hold back his own.

he pulls you closer into a gentle kiss, a soft brush of lips that deepens as you lean closer into him, tilting your head slightly as his hands move towards your jaw and the back of your neck, holding you as close as possible.

the kiss grows more urgent, as if you were pouring every feeling into it. both of your breaths quicken as your lips move together. as kei pulls backs for just a fraction, he opens his eyes, forehead pressed against yours and he smiles, leaning in again to peck your lips.

“you’re the one for me,” he says, voice low. “i’ll wait for you at university.”

“okay.”

“tell me you’ll be thinking of me as much as i’ll think of you.” he closes his eyes, voice shaking. “tell me you’ll miss me as much as i’ll miss you.”

“kei…”

“because… because i always think about you, when i’m awake and when i’m sleeping, I always dream of you. even when we are in the same city, or in the same building but different rooms, i miss you. i miss you when you are at extracurriculars or when i am in practice and i can’t see you, even if i had just said goodbye to you.” he sighs, “because i love you.”

you clutch the button closer to your heart as you kiss him again,

“i love you too.”

as you walk down your university’s pathway, the crisp autumn air stings your eyes, a stark contrast to how the warmth of the sun radiates softly off your back. the warm feeling lingers as you continue your stride, a gentle reminder of how summer is fading away. you watch the floor intently, basking in the satisfactory sound of the leaves crunching under your feet.

when you look up, you spot your boyfriend waiting for you under a large oak tree, the auburn foliage a sure indicator of the changing season. the sight of him brings a smile to your face. your boyfriend, as usual, has a sour expression drawn on, and his arms are crossed like he’s expecting a challenge. he often looked like this– intense and brooding. any reasonable onlooker would be scared to approach him, but you knew better.

you can sense that he’s been anticipating your arrival by the way he impatiently taps his foot and exclaims, “the people at this college are fuckin’ stupid,” the moment you’re within earshot. his sudden outburst has you stifling a laugh, and a warm feeling spreads throughout your chest.

“are they?” you inquire, amused, and he takes your inquiry as an invitation to drone on about how impossibly hopeless his classmates are. though, you’re only half listening to everything he has to say. instead, you take the chance to admire his boyish features. the slight contortion of his eyebrows and the fiery look in his eyes as he continues his tirade makes the warmth you feel more prominent. you liked when he would go on rants like this. normally, he hated when you’d stare at him for too long, but moments like these gave you an excuse.

the moment ends too soon when he finishes his rant and grunts, “c’mon.” grabbing the bookbag off of your shoulder and slinging it over his own as he drags you along a route that you recognize as the way to the library. a little into your walk, he takes ahold of your hand like it’s second nature. his grip is sturdy yet tender. you focus on the way he absentmindedly traces soft circles along your hand with his thumb as the two of you walk.

as you continue to walk alongside him, the heat of his hand is a welcome feeling when paired with the now chilly fall air. as you focus on this feeling, a realization rushes over you. your boyfriend may be similar to a hot summer day– he’s harsh, intimidating, and direct. however, the subtle, unspoken intimacy that comes with loving him is something that reminds you more of the fall. his love feels like wearing a warm sweater on a chilly day, enveloping you in warmth and making you feel protected and cherished.

considering this thought, you glance up at his face and settle upon the conclusion that you hope you’ll be able to experience moments similar to this one with him for every season that’s to come.
