Happy VERY LATE 16th anniversary to those road-rollin' Kagamine twins!! \(^o^)/ I meant to make this post on time... But I got lazy. xD Their anniversary is super easy for me to remember, since it's one day before MY birthday! :3 So, to celebrate this milestone, I'll be uploading the two official Rin & Len 10th Anniversary compilation albums from 2017! I actually don't own these any more; I sold them because of a collection rule that I have since changed my mind about... TT But I still have the files to share!

First, we have KAGAMINEXT feat. Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len -10th ANNIVERSARY BEST-!

This one was published by EXIT TUNES, and it's a REALLY good compilation!! ^^ Out of the two, I most regret selling this; it's gotten pretty rare... (T^T) The download is HUGE, but that's what happens when you have 2 disks with 15 tracks each + a bonus track worth of Kagamine bangers! Trust me, it's WELL worth it!! uwu

The second one is Kagamine Rin・Len 10th Anniversary -LODESTAR-!

This one was published by KarenT and isn't as hard to find as KAGAMINEXT because... Well... It's not as good. >< But it's still got some bangers like Rimokon (Remote Controller), Yumekui Shirokuro Baku (Dream-Eating Monochrome Baku) and chocolate box, to name a few!!

Imo, these albums compliment each other perfectly; having both gives you a pretty good library of Kagamine songs to jam to whenever you want! All songs were extracted from the CD in FLAC format, so that they're the best possible quality without being too large! I tag songs like this: Japanese Name (Romaji name or English translation). The artist is the synthesizer (or synthesizers) credited for the vocals, while the album artist is the producer whose album it is. In the composer field, I put anyone who was involved in creating the song, regardless of who did what. If they mastered the song, they're there. If they manipulated the synthesizer's voice for the song, they're there. If they wrote the lyrics for the song, they're there. If the link doesn't work, shoot me a message to let me know. i mean this genuinely i think the lack of this subgenre is indicative of a larger problem irt vocaloid rn which is that every synth that isn't a cryptonloid or teto is actively on the decline . and being so fr here the non-miku cryptonloids are too it's just that they make crypton too much money for them to actually be taken out back and shot like a lame horse so crypton has to disincentivize using them in other ways (see: superpack) and teto is surviving not off her merits as a synth but off her memeability . the vast majority of her fans don't fucking know teto songs besides mesmerizer and that one's super recent. back in ye olden days of vocaloid, the synths were commonly treated as stock characters of sorts, if someone died tragically it was len, if there was a failgirl it was teto, gakupo was both the pervert and the european aristocrat (every1 say "thanks mothy" for directly causing both of those associations), both to varying extents (while i like to focus on the overlap these two traits often didn't, see go google it for the fomer and witch for the latter), and obv not every song w a character w these traits is going to coorespond to the matching vocaloid, and not every song using a synth would fit their stock character type, enough of them would for things like 'gakupo as a european aristocrat singing abt sex crimes' to become a subgenre.

the vocaloid stock character thing is dead though, bc now we live in a world where 'vocaloid producer' is a tangible career path... with the catch being that it'll only work if you use miku and only miku. for everything. crypton is the only company behind the synths to provide a tangible award for your work in the form of miku expo and magical mirai and song commissions and prosekai and everything else they do. that means you have to be using cryptonloids. but crypton p openly favors miku in everything they do. the kagamines have been 2nd only to miku since daughter/servant of evil came out (everyone say "thanks mothy") and when was the last time they got massive hype? it was bring it on wasn't it? a song that released in 2018. and even then bring it on hype was nothing compared to monitoring or mesmerizer or rabbit hole or vampire or any other recent miku hit. hell, bring it on was nothing compared to the story of evil hype and before story of evil those two were barely a blip on anyone's radar. what abt kaito? luka? meiko? those 3 have been left to rot and crypton does not care. they haven't done anything kagamine specific since commissioning bring it on for their 10th anniversary, miku gets at least one high profile collab every month), luka, kaito and meiko get distorted to sound more miku-ish on their new releases (luka girl i've never rlly been able to get into you the way i have for others but i'm So sorry they did that to you on the superpack). were it not for crypton's indifference towards the rest of the group i have no doubt that they could reach miku-level highs, they've done it before, but i don't think crypton wants them to, crypton wants them to stand near miku to make their specialest little girl seem all the more special in comparison.

so what if you don't want to turn to crypton for success, teto's p popular, esp in the era of her synthv, but teto's fans don't actually listen to her music. mesmerizer was successful but that had miku on it. name one other massive teto song to come out of her synthv era. it's been over a year. and as for the other synths? good luck getting any traction w them among the tourists who only gaf abt miku and the 50 million other producers trying the same thing you are but are using hatsune miku for recognizability.

the death of the vocaloid stock character niche is bc everything is miku now. monitoring miku mesmerizer miku rabbit hole miku miku miku miku miku. a decade ago monitoring would have gakupo written all over it. half of that mesmerizer would have gumi. just a couple of years and rabbit hole would have len. it's not just abt gakupo singing abt sex crimes, it's abt how there's only one voice you hear when you listen to new vocaloid music bc the rest get drowned out, and the death of such a common subgenre coincides w the death of gakupo himself. why would anyone use gakupo or anyone else when miku's right there? why would you write anything that big daddy crypton might find too innapropriate to pick up for the new prosekai event? creativity and individualized style and expression is disincentivized in modern vocaloid. miku miku. miku miku miku miku miku.

the problem w modern vocaloid is that no one is making vkei-inspired songs w long ass names abt gakupo committing sex crimes anymore
