Huge Triple Twist, wow.
I’ve never seen them - Yasmina Kadryova and Ivan Blachenko - skate, but that was a very well skated program from this young team. Some very good elements, nice musicality and extension. I’m not sure what I think about the music choice, but they did it very well.

2020 Rostelecom Cup Preview - Pairs
We have a two-way battle for gold in this nearly-all Russian competition. Our two teams who should be battling out for gold are Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Galliamov and Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kovlovskii.
At their last meet up, Mishina and Galliamov skated clean and came out on top by about 13 points. Another skate like that could put them on top here, but Boikova and Kovlovskii are more than capable of scoring that. It could be a very close competition, and it will come down to final skate of the night, though if one has a huge lead over the other going into the free, that will definitely help them secure a win here.
Our fight for bronze should be interesting. I have three teams here – Iuliia Artemeva and Mikhail Nazarcyhev, Apollinaria Panfliova and Dmitry Rylov, and Iasmina Kadryova and Ivan Balchenko.
Artemeva and Nazarychev have been the more consistent of the two teams we’ve seen so far this season. With a just slightly higher this season – 205 vs 204 – Kadryova and Balchenko could be a surprise medalist in this competition. However, at the first competition, they scored 186. The growth could be a sign of things to come, but if they score closer to their first score and not their second, they could drop farther down in the standings.
We have not seen Panfliova and Rylov so far this season. Last season, they scored between 186 and a 207. The latter could see them easily medalling here, but the former could see the drop down. It will depend on where they are this season, but they should be fighting for the podium, and are easily top five potential here.
Our next team is Kseniia Akhanteva and Valerii Kolesov. They scored a 190 in their one Russian Cup event so far, which could have them pushing for top five. They will need mistakes from some of the other teams to move out of sixth place, though, as this is a very tough competition.
Our last team is Ioulia Chtchetinina and Mark Magyar of Hungary. We have not seen this season, but last year, they scored between a 148 and a 162. They are not up to par with the Russian skaters, and I can’t seem them placing anything other than seventh and last here.

Love their costumes.
God, I can’t get over how huge their Triple Twist is!
Hand down on that throw, and she stumbled a bit coming out of it.
A little off sync on those side-by-sides.
Off on another throw, too.,
Overall, while that was a bit of an off skate for Yasmina Kadryova and Yuri Balchenko, I still like them as a pair. They have so much potential, so many good elements. This program is a good vehicle for them, too.
