I finally finished ! I wanted to draw the kind of clothes my Kadathians wear, it took some time to come up with the "intricate but fonctionnal and kinda pretty" vibe I was aiming for. I'm all for practicity and none for fluff pretty stuff so I struggle styling simple outfits into beautiful pieces. I think I did good on that one and when I showed it to my loved one, she said it looks like jedi's outfits.

Realization hitted me XD You can take the girl out the fandom but you can't take the fandom out the girl I guess !

Every step was preordained, each misstep fate.

For the world would crumble without a weight in the right place, and fall apart of left alone.

They were all where they needed to be, holding it together to prevent a cruel and magmatic end.

And yet, they believed themselves to be free.

Puppets, toys in the hands of another, placed where the cracks would form, traveling under the false ideal of independent movement.

Hunger moved them like pawns over each crack in need of a fresh tamp.

And yet...safety faltered.

Cracks and rushes formed where they had yet to tread.

The ground pulsed and constricted for birth, spewing fourth the unformed potential, enveloping all that was made to keep it at bay, erasing failure and preventing further success.

That upon which they dared not tread rendered their unknown fate futile.

The invisible hands has failed their pawns, and the titans that has slept trembled and stirred, awakening to reclaim what once was theirs, reassembling their great Kadathian shores.

And the final cry, little else but a faltering gasp, resounded unheard...

Sharnoth SFF thoughts 1

With Shikkoku no Sharnoth as my top visual novel, I finally got a chance to start playing the Sharnoth stories of the Steampunk Full Voice Fandisk.

My yuri goggles are still strong. (Unfortunately, the game isn't actually yuri, but the subtext is strong enough for me)

Angie, Mary, and Charlie are out on a date (an outing) since class was canceled. They bump into Mary's friend Zach who makes banter with them.

Charlie: *INSTANT AGGRESSION* don't you have something to do right now?

Hearing Charlie's voice go down like that is so nice as she's sleeping beauty for most of the main game...

I guess Angie understands why.

Sorry about the delay today. I’ve been pretty exhausted the last few days, who’d have thought. In the spirit of the fun horror that comes from being stuck at home with no idea what’ll happen, I figured that I’d talk about one of Infinite Black’s sets from their The Colors out of Space line, the Kadathian Ice variantSigil of the Dreamlands dice set. Let’s roll!

As I’ve said before, I really love the presentation of the various Elder Dice sets. The magnetic grimoire box is just cool, especially the included art. It makes for a good scene setter and just looks nice on my table top gaming shelf.

The dice themselves are brightly colored in colors that make me think less of the realms of dreaming and more of wild berry poptarts. Part of this is that my set in particular seems fairly low on the pink, leaving it more a bright purple than anything. This is not a complaint. I also appreciate that the Sigil of the Dreamlands is on the high side of each die, rather than just the d20. They look good, with the color swirls both standing out nicely against the inking, leaving them readily easy to read.

The inking is nicely done. I didn’t notice any thin spots or odd clumps. There were a few places of minor overfill, but nothing that made them hard to read. I will note that, while I’m not likely to re-ink them, the Sigil itself doesn’t look like it would be any more than a little fiddly to re-ink if need be.

As with most acrylic dice these feel nice in hand. The set seems well balanced and rolls with acceptable randomness.

Overall, I really like the set. The extra two d6 are a nice addition. The colors of both the acrylic and the inking work well together. It’s pretty fantastic. Which, of course, means that I’m giving the Kadathian Ice variant Sigil of the Dreamlands dice set a five out of five.

I would definitely use these dice for some manner of sorcerer or an eldritch pact warlock. Looking at those three d6 though, I think the most immediate use for this set is going to be as my DM dice for Tiny Cthulhu in a few months.

I've been slacking off alright but I finally came with a design that makes me happy ! So here it is ! A Kadathian ! Alien race from my very own book and once I'm done writting it, I'll try to get it published ! Until then, at least I've got a visual for the habitants of Kadath, I have the design of their planet as well and I need to work out on their fauna and flora's planet. But that's just a beginning. Need to write their whole alphabet as well, I'm going full Tolkien with the lore now, not that I can match the crazy master's energy but I'll try ! I LOVE FOR LORE either if I'm creating it or just looting it from video games !

SO ! For a little presentation. from head to toe. Kadaths don't have hairs but six "tentacles" made of the same kind of flesh than the rest of their bodies. It isn't sticky, they cannot really move them to hold anything but they are useful during their sleep or to show appreciation as they are glowing. When they are asleep, Kadathians roll up in foetal position underwater, where their tentacules, filles up with bubbles of air, will stand all around their head and glow, intimidating predators away. The giants white mark on their forehead as the same use, as it looks like two eyes of a huge starring predator once they are curled up to sleep.

They are amphibious, their gills are under the white flange on their neck, it slightly detach from their skin underwater and remained sealed shut out of water to preserve it due to it's fragility.

Their spine is extenting outside of their skin into bonely spikes to prevent aggression from the above when they are swimming or in the back when they are walking. Cartilaginous growths goes around their chest from the back to the front, protecting as well as giving enough flexibility to sleep curled up. Thos peculiar ones can glow as well as the tip of the spinal spikes.

Shoulders and hips are recovered in cartilaginous growths as well but ridged to facilitate swimming as it offers smoother surface for the water to go through.

Their head, hands, feets and tail are black for numerous reasons. One is to keep them warm under the light of the three suns of their world. Their bodies requires lot of warmness to fonction properly. The second one to blend with the rest of their bodies when they are asleep and appear like a giant shapeless beast to ware off predators. The last one is to cover their eyes with a darker shade to help themselves sleep through the endless days of Kadath,where night never arise.

Their hands are composed of three fingers and two thumbs, one on each side to facilitate gripping with a stronger pressure ability. Feets are composed of four toes and each finger is wearing a claw, the ones of the feets are curled and way sturdier than their hand's. To grip into the coral branches they use as sleeping spots.

The tail is mostly used to stabilize in sleeping stance but they can also use it as a prehensile member and as a weapon. It's heavier mass and the fiber of the muscles here making it three time more powerful by size comparaison than the rest of their bodies. The tip glow stronger and can be used as light when visiting darker worlds.

The glowing happen during their rest or when they are pleased or content with someting. It's a social signal of appreciation and exchange bio-chemical hormones of happyness when witness or produced.

Yeah I took a looooooooong time to think that through, hope it was interesting ! ♥
