Thanks for the post @improvepractice . @lilsyd._7 #Repost @improvepractice (@get_repost) ・・・ When YOU join a team YOU are becoming part of a family, of Coaches, teammates, your family and the family of all of your teammates. Your basketball 'family' will cheer YOU on, they will watch YOU grow as a player and they will watch YOU compete and win games. The young lady in this video is Syd, an 11 year old, 6th grade athlete and Straight-A student from the State of Virginia. Her dad is @k_j_d_u_b, a youth, speed and agility specialist, so she is fast and has the quick feet to defend girls who are in the 8th grade. This season Syd made her middle school basketball team. She was told not to expect any playing time so Syd kept working all season to earn her playing time. Syd's team finished the season 8-1, only losing to the eventual champion. But the season was still a huge success for Syd. She is now part of her middle school basketball family. She contributed in different ways to her team winning games. And she learned how to compete against girls who are taller, bigger, stronger and older. As we can see in this video Syd was asked to defend the other team's point guard, a bigger 8th grade player. But as a competitor Syd kept her feet moving and competed. YOU do not need any shots to go in the bucket to make an impact on the game. If YOU play tough defense YOU are helping your team succeed. If YOU want to become an elite basketball player get your body in shape, work on your agility so that YOU can move quickly and work incredibly hard in PRACTICE so that YOU build the skills that forces the Coaches to give YOU playing time. YOU want playing time. Work for it. TRAIN your MIND and body to PERFORM! Her dad is @k_j_d_u_b, a youth, speed and agility specialist, so she is fast on the track, fast with her dribble and even fast in the swimming pool. A few weeks ago I posted a video of Syd training to make her middle school team which just doesn't happen for 6th graders. Syd made the team but was warned by her Coach not to expect any playing time. Syd and her father @k_j_d_u_b took that as a challenge and got back in the gym to work a little bit harder. Why can't Syd play as a 6th grader if she can contribute to her team winning games? Well as we can see in this video Syd did get to play. And she was able to contribute on defense and score points. Syd's team is now 4-0 and my guess is that she will continue to get playing time. Coaches like winning too. As a young player Syd will have ups and downs. That is the life of the competitor. YOU get challenged and YOU learn how to adapt and rise up and defeat those bigger, more experienced competitors. If YOU want to get playing time be in great shape and be a great defender. Make it difficult for your Coaches to keep YOU out of the game. And when YOU get out on the court learn, have fun and just play basketball. TRAIN your MIND and body to PERFORM!
