notes . occasional swearing, age gap change between the mccormick siblings and broflovski brothers, lowercase intented, aged up chatacters (in their 20s) a choose your own ending series
♡ : kyle broflovski / kenny mccormick (K2) x reader
Tumblr media
- the moment everyone steps out of your office, karen barely spares you and kenny a glance
- just shoving her hands in her pockets and mumbling a "later"
- she made sure to slam the door shut on the way out
- kenny snickered at that, "man, she hates this place."
- one corner of your lips perked up
- "yeah, well if she stopped breaking bathroom sinks and vandalizing walls, she wouldn't be here all the time."
- "eh," kenny shrugs "i don't even know how to react to that anymore. kid's gettin' outta control nowadays."
- "sure you do." you lightly joke, causing the blond to let a chuckle slip out of his mouth
- that smirk, it brings back memories
- back when you and him still had something, something that was full of cutting classes, writing graffiti with spray paint, running away from restaurants without paying
- you shake your head, leaning back before glancing down at kenny's uniform
- it's a dark blue jumpsuit, albeit dirty, and has a logo on the left breast
- "so, a mechanic, huh?"
- "yep," he rocks back on his heels
- "started working at the workshop a while back. pays decent, better than what i used to do."
- "it gets my hands dirty, but you know me—i don't really mind."
- his voice goes lower at the last part, as if he's testing to see how you'd react
- you roll your eyes at his words, "right. and i assume you don't mean the literal dirt and grease."
- kenny grins at that
- "depends. you askin' as a school counselor or just you?"
- there it is again
- the casual flirting
- the kind that's hard to tell whether he's serious or just having fun
- "how about just as someone who hasn't seen you in forever?" you counter
- he hums
- a beat of silence passes
- the school hallway is mostly empty now, the distant echo of the janitor's cart rolling down the corridor
- you shift your weight, arms crossing loosely. "so... how's everything?"
- kenny hesitated at the question before responding
- not long enough for some people to notice, but you do
- "it's alright," he says, shrugging
- "job keeps me steady, keeps me busy. got my own place now. tiny as hell, but it's mine."
- that catches you off guard
- "you moved out?"
- he nods
- "yeah. still close enough to check on karen and kevin, but far enough that i don't have to deal with..."
- he waves vaguely, as if that's enough to explain every single reason why he wouldn't want to live at home anymore
- you don't push
- you never had to
- with him, you'll only learn something if he trusts you about it
- otherwise, no amount of nagging will get it out of him
- instead, you say, "i'm glad. you deserve that."
- something flickers across his face, his smirk long gone as he makes eye contact with you
- his eyes are damn bright, i'll tell you that
- "yeah?"
- "yeah." you respond simply
- for a second, you two are quiet
- then
- kenny exhaled through his nose, his usual smirk going back
- "so, what about you, huh? you've got your own office now? fancy."
- you scoff
- "i'm a school counselor, kenny, not a damn CEO."
- he leans against the doorframe, eyeing you playfully
- "still, you always wanted to help people. guess that hasn't changed."
- "you sound surprised." you respond
- "nah," he shook his head
- "just kinda nice, is all. seeing you like this."
- the way he said it made your stomach flip a little
- not in a dramatic, romcom way
- but in a subtle, creeping way that you didn't know how to shake off
- before you can say anything else, kenny straightens up, running a hand through his blond hair
- "alright, counselor. i'll let you get back to changing lives or whatever it is that you do in here."
- you roll your eyes
- "yeah, yeah. try to keep karen outta trouble, will you?"
- he laughs, "no promises."
- and with that, he's gone
- you can hear the faint echo of his boots stomping across the floor, the volume slowly softening until it was back to complete silence
- but something about the way he looked at you lingers
— ♡ —
- the next day, your laptop hasn't finished loading up when a sharp knock on your door announces itself
- it's sharp, purposeful
- as if whoever's behind it is too polite to barge in but too impatient to wait long for an answer
- you look up, raising an eyebrow while your eyes glance to the clock
- it's early
- too early for a student to be causing any havoc
- "come in."
- the door creaks open and a redhead enters, his hair bouncing slightly
- "kyle." you start, resting your head on your hand
- "hey," he starts, stepping inside
- his hands are in his jacket pockets, looking a little tense
- but then again
- kyle has always looked tense
- “i know ike’s suspended, but i still want to talk to you about what happened."
- “and before you tell me i should be talking to the principal instead—i did. And she was, shockingly, zero help.”
- you sigh at that
- you know exactly how that conversation went down
- kyle starts pacing, rubbing his face
- "i just, i don't get it. i mean, i do, because it's ike, and he's a little shit sometimes, but i thought we were past this."
- you don't talk, giving him the sign to continue
- "he's a good kid. i know he is, there's no way he'd just break sinks or- or ruin restrooms for no damn reason."
- you tilt your head, "and you're here because..?"
- kyle stops his pacing, "because i need to know what's going on with him."
- you lean back on your seat, looking up at him
- "kyle, he's your brother, not your kid."
- he scoffs at that, before sitting down on the seat across you
- "god, you ever feel like things don't ever change?" he weakly laughed
- you blink, "what do you mean?"
- "ike's fucking up the restrooms, mom losing her mind over every single thing, and i'm the one stuck in the middle of trying to keep everything from falling apart. it's like i'm sixteen again and trying to stop ike's nicotine addiction at 5 years old."
- you smirk at the vivid memory of ike getting his hands on vapes when he was only in kindergarten
- "if we're comparing things to high school, you forgot to add the part where you'd argue with adults like you had a law degree at fifteen."
- "that is NOT true-"
- "yes, you did." you snicker
- he groans, tilting his head upwards
- "okay, maybe once or twice."
- "that was more than twice-"
- "fine. but in my defense, i was right most of the time."
- you snort, "see? some things really don't change."
- kyle rolls his eyes, but there's a flicker of amusement in his eyes now
- he sighs, rubbing the back of his neck, "i guess i just thought that things would be... i dunno, different by now."
- you raise an eyebrow
- "different how?"
- "i mean, i moved out, got a place of my own, a good job, a..."
- he pauses, frowning slightly
- "a stable job, anyway. i thought that was supposed to make things easier, but somehow, i'm still dealing with the same old shit. just with a different zip code."
- his words hang between you for a moment
- and you recognize that undercurrent of frustration, of exhaustion
- "yeah," you say, softer this time, "i get that."
- kyle looks at you, curiosity flickering across his face, "what about you? you’re the one who actually left town for a while. is this where you thought you’d end up?”
- you exhale, leaning back in your chair
- "honestly? no."
- his eyebrows raise slightly, like he wasn’t expecting that answer. "really?"
- you shrug
- "i mean, i knew i wanted to help people. but coming back here? that wasn’t exactly the plan."
- kyle hums, studying you
- "so why did you?"
- you pause
- the answer isn’t simple, but kyle’s always been the type to press for one
- "i guess… i missed some things," you admit
- "not everything, but enough."
- he nods slowly, like he understands
- "yeah. i get that."
- silence lingers between you, but this time, it’s not uncomfortable
- just
- thoughtful
- then, kyle exhales, shaking his head with a small smirk
- “God. listen to us. we sound like a couple of exhausted old people.”
- you laugh
- "yeah, well. we are in a school again. that’s gotta knock at least ten years off your soul."
- kyle huffs a laugh, but then his gaze lingers on you for just a second longer than expected
- something shifts in his expression
- not quite nostalgia, not quite regret
- just something
- "guess some things do change, though." he says, voice quieter now
- you tilt your head
- "like what?"
- kyle hesitates, then shakes his head with a small smile
- "never mind."
- you narrow your eyes, but before you can press, he steps back toward the door
- "anyway, i should go before i start actually ranting like i’m still in high school.”
- you smirk
- "i don’t know, kyle. i think we passed that threshold a while ago."
- he chuckles, shaking his head, "yeah, yeah. i’ll see you around, counselor."
- and then he’s gone
- but something about that conversation lingers in the air long after he’s left.

Gajin Fujita (ガジン・フジタ, born 1972) is a graffiti artist from East Los Angeles. He is a member of LA graffiti crews K2S(Kill 2 Succeed) and KGB (Kids Gone Bad).
Fujita's work has been widely exhibited at galleries and museums such as Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art (Kansas City), L.A. Louver Gallery and several international venues in Switzerland, Greece, Australia and Belgium. He is represented by L.A. Louver in Venice, CA.
Fujita blends Eastern techniques (anime, partitioned screens, ukiyo-e), and elements (geishas, warriors, demons), with Western, urban imagery (Latino graffiti, U.S. pop culture imagery) in a way that is stunning and vibrant, yet harmonious. His works embody the cultural and class contradictions that are an integral part of urban Los Angeles.
His paintings are really a collection of symbols, both contemporary and ancient, as he holds a funfair mirror up to the outside world, juxtaposing the old and the new, the traditional and the modern, the West and the East. “People still call me a graffiti artist, but I’m not any more,” he says, with a slight edge to his tone. “I’m not doing stuff on the streets, I’m painting in my studio, and that cannot be graffiti. I just want to be known as a painter, an artist.” He likens this mix-and-match approach to hip-hop, sampling the past in order to build the future, forcing the traditional to bend to the unconventional.
“Fujita’s art has everything to do with hip-hop, butoh dance and the Dodgers,” wrote LA Weekly in 2007. “It is the embodiment of the LA experience if it were processed by an Old World shunga painter who doubled as a member of the [graffiti gang] K2S graf crew. His style is a dizzyingly beautiful visual collision of East and West, old and new, legal and illegal. Serpents, goldfish, chrysanthemums, geishas, warriors and sports logos – painstakingly applied by hand – all come together on backgrounds of gold leaf and foil, tangled with layers of graffiti, supplied by Fujita’s crew.” The Los Angeles Times was equally euphoric, describing his paintings as, “The mean streets of an anonymous metropolis, where silhouetted palm trees, tropical foliage and shimmering moonlight provide the theatrical backdrop for dazzling explosions of spray-painted tags and single words dolled up like customised low-riders.” - https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/gajin-fujita-art-los-angeles
Fujita’s art plays heavily with the idea of street culture and the juxtaposition between this and the ancient and cultural. He uses symbolism as repeated symbols in his work which have loaded meanings. His artwork is bright and eye-catching, with slogans, symbols and instantly recognisable subject matter. These concepts are very similar to what I am trying to recreate with my art, and I find how Fujita does this very interesting and inspirational.

Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184: Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1286
(By Sten Hugo Hiller - 627184) Mountain Climbing Mecha Combat #1286
Brought to you by ANN
Highlighting the May 3361 Point Mech Panic
As expected, the Gaming Authorities had prepared an PointMech event for us after the end of the war.
Commanders (such as myself) who had had most of their Mechs destroyed in the last stages of the war, therefore only had to somehow get a single ride into working order.
My chief Tech, -Bruno, did manage to put together a franken Mech from the various piles of scrap that had been hauled back to the remnants of the base. Consisting of about 25% Humbaba parts, 30% other BFM parts and 45% unknown parts, it was tentatively classified as an Humbaba, and sprayed by red paint to sneek it by the gate officials.
Not that they cared what model one brought to the arena. If you coluld pilot it, it was legal. If you blew yourself up due to lack of skill, was blown apart without reply by others due to a lack of armor and armament, or whatever befell you, their responsibility was to steer you to the correct top.
We were sent to K3 where all the regular contenders would have Licences higher than mine, some perhaps as much as seventy higher. A quick look at the opponents confirmed my fear. We were once again on the bottom of the heap, and the number of Commanders present ment we started way out on the plains.
However, as the only way to a prize went through said Commanders, we had better try crawling to the top on a pile of their wrecked rides. The initial stages was not too bad. We managed to claim a spot in the foothills after just a few losses.
Then it was time to pick some opponent we might beat to get a shot at the slopes. After some failures the spot was taken, and we put the crosshair over Tim Williams from M&L Black Cats. His Spectre outmassed my Humbaba by 10%, but as Spectres have a somewhat weak targeting routine, it was possible he might miss us a couple times and let us land a telling blow. It took a couple tries, but finally we were on the slopes, and the way foreward was problematic to say the least.
As there was no real point in trying for another slope position, the only spot worth fighting for was the top, -held by Mike Rodenizer of the Unicorns. But his Fext had thicker armor, higher speed and more weapons than my franken Mech, so after a while it became prudent to reserve the remaining attacks in case we were dragged back from the slopes.
It was a pretty long wait for the event to finish, -and intercepted by some half-hearted strikes vs Rodenizer, the time was spent recording the wild action on the other tops.
So when the light finally flashed, it was clear that those who had won mew Nephilax`es this time were.
Div 1 352+ (35 Commanders): Jeff Haas, Warlocks HQ (Cyberdon)(31s) 2: Ben Rail 3: David Buchanan 4: Mk Mathews 5: Justin Verret 6: Jaime Beltran 7: Claude Poirier 8: Sal Vezzosi Jr 9: Roy Cheah 10: David Sifford Div 2 -351 (16 Commanders): George Warren, B.o.A.D. (Cyberdon)(15s) Div 3 -262 (25 Commanders): Mike Rhodenizer, P.F.U.D.o.R. (Fext)(2h,20m) Div 4 -189 (19 Commanders): BobOstby, T.B. BlackWatch (Boreas)(11s) Div 5 -146 (45 Commanders): PloyPloyGunpat, Mad Scientist.7 (Fext)(2s) Div 6 -102 (23 Commanders): Dale Smith, t&t (Guardian)(2h,7m) Div 7 -76 (22 Commanders): MissPsycho, T.B. 1st K.H. (Boreas)(26m,9s) Div 8 -49 (11 Commanders): Twiki_, Deaths Hecklers (Frigis)(2d,2h) Div 9 -32 (21 Commanders): RobertGoetz, Jagdstaffel 2 (Dilophos)(20h,42m) Div 10 -19 (24 Commanders): Iaskottely, RED AXE (Orcus)(18m,9s) Div 11 -12 (18 Commanders): Iorvailu, RED AXE (Orcus)(12m,15s)
Total Contestants: 259 Total medals claimed: 161 (of 165 possible)
Compared to the mid-war, frontline event, the number of Commanders present rose by eight. But even this influx could not guarantee that all the prizes were claimed, -especially not when the imbalance between the tops was such that the most popular top had as many contestants as the three least popular combined. Therefore, four Bronzes from K8 were returned for resmelting after the award ceremony.
The award for the mostwinning Mech model was split in a four-way tie this time. The Cyberdon, Fext, Boreas and Orcus all claimed two Golds each. None of the Crystal Mechs managed to land even one Gold to their name.
The last half-hour saw seven Golds changing hands at least once, four of them not decided until the last minute. The other four Golds were all held for at least two hours, one of them for more than a day. So some pretty wild fighting, and some strong winners this time around. But how close were the fights for the lesser prizes? Best way to find out is to take a look at the number of medals held for more than 30 minutes in this event:
.............Silvers......Bronzes
Div 1 ....0 of 4.........2 of 10 Div 2 ....0 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 3 ....1 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 4 ....0 of 4.........6 of 10 Div 5 ....0 of 4.........1 of 10 Div 6 ....3 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 7 ....2 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 8 ....1 of 4.........2 of 6 Div 9 ....3 of 4.........7 of 10 Div 10 ..2 of 4.........8 of 10 Div 11 ..3 of 4.........8 of 10
There was at least some fighting on all of the tops, and on five of them (Mount Olympus, K2, K4, K5 and K8) the majority of the medals changed hands at least once.
The only clan to claim a double Gold from this event was RED AXE whose Orcus`es stood tallest on both K10 and K11. None of the unaligned Commanders rose to the top this time, and the sole repeat winner was The Brotherhood BlackWatch`s BobOstby on K4.
Upcoming event: 35 Alive Chrono
Here we get a Chrono for the lighter part of the medium tonnage range. No Mechs heavier then 35 tons will fight, so bringing any to the arena is a waste of formation space. And as it is a Chrono, signing up ASAP is close to mandatory for those who want some of the (good) prizes.
Event ends July 18 between 2200 and 2230 New York Time

The working pressure 40 bar max and 250l/hr will see you clean everything from windows to veranda quicker and more efficiently. For some extra peace of mind, the model literally follows you around without being restricted or interrupted by any cords or cables.
Summer is great, but it's dirty. Before you know it, mud, pollen, mildew, dried grass clippings, and the greasy film from air pollution can cover everything in sight. The pressure washer makes short work of tough cleaning jobs and solves other problems such as removing flaking or blistered paint.
While you might have some intuitive sense for how much size and power you require from a tool like a lawnmower, most homeowners are less familiar with pressure washers. So, how much oomph do you really need?

With the explosion of products containing hemp-derived CBD in the last few years, many less-than-honest players found ways to flood the market with “CBD oil” that is a modern-day equivalent of snake oil—not necessarily dangerous but definitely ineffective. In some cases, a bottle labeled as CBD oil is just a few crushed vitamins and supplements mixed with olive oil.
It seems impossible but there are some companies out there selling CBD oil, promising improved health, less pain and the myriad other claims they make, that is actually synthetic CBD oil—no different from the potentially lethal forms of synthetic cannabis sold on the street.
In November 2018, Consumer Reports (CR) published an article about dangerous chemicals found in popular over-the-counter (OTC) CBD products. Based on testing conducted by Virginia Commonwealth University, CR reported that Diamond CBD, with locations in England and the U.S., sells CBD products made by three popular companies over the Internet that contain a compound called 5F-ADB, which is a synthetic form of cannabis also found in K2 and Spice.
Drug Overdoses in the U.S.
The Centers for Disease Control tracked all fatal drug overdoses from 1999 to 2017, and in that time it reported a four-fold increase in ODs. In addition to tracking the number of deaths due to overdose, the CDC keeps tabs on which drugs are responsible for them. Unheard of in 1999, overdoses from synthetic cannabis—both marijuana and CBD—is now keeping pace with ODs from benzos and opioids. Stories abound of swaths of people—most between the ages of 12 and 30—being rushed to emergency rooms, suspected of overdosing on synthetic cannabis.
Mainstream media began reporting more widely about the increase of synthetic cannabis use in 2015, with an uptick between late 2017 and mid-2018 as usage really took off. However, the National Institute on Drug Abuse says synthetic cannabis use dates back to 2008. In fact, it claims 11,406 visits to emergency rooms in the U.S. during 2012 were the result of synthetic cannabis.
What Is Synthetic Cannabis?
Synthetic cannabinoids are created in a lab and bear no chemical resemblance to the cannabis plant. It’s a group of chemical substances that are supposed to mimic the effects of the natural cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. These synthetic products have been cleverly marketed as safe or harmless products, or even as safer alternatives to real cannabis.
No two types of synthetic cannabis are the same, and in most cases the chemical makeup is unknown. It’s estimated there are hundreds of compounds that can potentially go into creating these synthetic products. To the untrained eye, it’s easy to see how someone could be fooled into believing a synthetic is the real deal.
Synthetic cannabis is generally a mixture of different plants, spray painted green. Four telltale signs that your cannabis is fake include:
The package has what looks like ground-up plant material rather than cannabis buds.
You’ll notice a chemical smell. Cannabis—regardless of the strain—has a distinct smell and it smells like something you’d find in nature.
Real cannabis has a stickiness to it, thanks to naturally occurring resin. After handling the fake stuff, your fingers won’t be sticky.
Synthetic cannabis is one or two shades of green. Conversely, natural cannabis is green with hints of yellow, red, orange, blue and purple.
What Are the Risks Involved with Synthetic Cannabis?
Although the goal is to have these chemical substances mimic the effects of cannabis, the synthetic versions are highly dangerous and can cause many serious health issues. Because the list of possible chemicals can vary from one street-level manufacturer to another, the risks also vary and are ever-changing. Some health risks include:
Severe anxiety, agitation and paranoia
Tachycardia (in excess of 100 beats per minute)
Hypertension
Muscle spasms and tremors
Nausea and vomiting
Severe bleeding due to blood not clotting
Poor coordination/gait
Seizures
Hallucinations
Disorientation
Psychosis
Suicidal thoughts and behaviors
Coma
Death
In addition to being sold in “flower form,” synthetic versions of cannabis are also sold as e-cigarettes and extracts for vaping, such as waxes and oils.
Common Names for Synthetic Cannabis
You’re probably familiar with the names K2 and Spice, but there are other names for synthetic cannabis, and they may vary depending on the region. In some cases the street name may be the same or very similar to real cannabis strains:
24k monkey
Ace of Spades
Amsterdam Gold
Atomic Blast
Atomic Bomb
Berry Blend
Big Bang
Herbal Incense
Blue Berry Yum Yum
BrainFreeze
Buzz Haze
California Dreams
Cowboy Kush
Cobra King Kush
One Love
Orange Kush
Pandora’s Box
PEP Spice
OG
Potpurri (sic)
Purple Diesel
Purple Haze
Synthetic Cannabis: Just Say No
If you’re concerned about synthetic CBD, check out the below tips before making a purchase. As always, consult your doctor before introducing CBD to your wellness routine.
Buy from a Dispensary
The safest way to ensure you’re getting real cannabis is to buy from a dispensary. Dispensaries are required by law to sell extracts derived from cannabis plants. Dispensaries can lose their license to sell cannabis and face huge fines if caught. Manufacturers caught making extracts with anything other than cannabis are subject to prison time—even if no one was harmed.
Request the Product Lab Report
No matter where you purchase CBD, you have the right to request a lab report. If the company is unwilling to provide one or insists the information is proprietary, that’s a big red flag.
If you or someone you are with has consumed synthetic CBD, don’t wait for symptoms to appear before seeking medical attention.

6 Ways Primal Types Can Observe Halloween
I’ll take the holiday bait today. It’s true…with its emphasis on candy consumption, many Primal types feel lost on Halloween. They don’t know what to do with themselves.
The costumes are fun, and being with friends is always a good time, but how should they react to all that sugar? It’s a hard thing.
Luckily, today I have 6 ways you can observe Halloween while staying true to your Primal roots.
Do Some Ancestral Reenactment
Everyone knows, deep down, that going Primal is really all about re-enacting ancient hunter-gatherers. Personally, my mode of communication and utilization of Internet technology is a source of deep shame. I’d much rather cite PubMed entries while sitting around a campfire. If I could, I’d smash my laptop, renounce antibiotics, toss my toothbrush. That I cannot find the courage to do so is slowly killing me on the inside.
But I can’t. I’m in too deep. So I use Halloween as the one day out of the year that I can fully embody the paleolithic hunter-gatherer that yearns to burst free. I suggest you do the same. Put on a loincloth. Grab an atlatl. Contract a parasite. Live the dream, if only for one night.
Dress Up As Your Favorite Obscure Ancestral Health Community Celebrity
Sure, almost no one will get your costume. But when you meet someone who does, you’ll know you have a friend or lover for life. A few ideas:
Robb Wolf: Wear a jiu jitsu gi and a big broad smile; refer to everyone as “folks.”
Mark Sisson: No shirt, paint-on abs, and a frisbee.
Chris Masterjohn: Carry a cup of egg yolks, and hand out vitamin K2 capsules.
Bill Lagos: Blue blockers and a blow torch.
Peter Attia: Ride a road bike while wearing only a speedo and carrying a gallon bag of cashews.
Stephan Guyenet: Wear a peasant’s burlap tunic, and carry around a dinner plate containing boiled cabbage, boiled chicken breast, boiled potato.
Petro Dobromylskj: Dress as a molecule of palmitic acid.
Emily Deans: Doctor’s lab coat made of mammoth fur, stethoscope made of bone; hand out samples of magnesium glycinate and SSRIs.
Michelle Tam (NomNomPaleo): Carry an Instant Pot filled to the brim with Red Boat fish sauce.
Richard Nikolay: Naked, dusted with raw potato starch, with Bitcoin hash emblazoned in Sharpie across chest.
Give Out Healthy Primal Treats To Trick-or-Treaters
There’s nothing kids love more than healthy treats on Halloween. Some options that the kids in our neighborhood just love:
Teaspoons of Cod Liver Oil: Keep capsules on hand for kids with costumes that restrict mouth access.
Raw Liver Shake: Blend up some raw liver (beef, lamb, or chicken) with a little OJ and frozen blueberries. Serve in tiny, decorative Dixie cups.
100% Cacao Dark Chocolate: Everyone knows that kids love chocolate.
Kale Chips: Fill a big serving bowl with loose kale chips and let the kids grab as many as they like.
Mini Bottles of Natural Dry-Farmed Wine: Reduced alcohol content makes it perfect for minors.
Dark Chocolate Covered Brussels Sprouts: Fill snack-sized Ziplocs with 3-4 Primal “truffles.” Tell them to eat it quick before it melts!
Magnesium Oil Spritzes: Spray everyone who comes to the door. Tell the irate parents it will help their kids sleep, so they should thank you.
4-inch PVC Pipe Sections for Foam Rolling: As kids approach, be rolling out your quads as an example. Actual foam rollers are best but get rather expensive.
Single-Serving Kerrygold Butter Slivers: Just cut each stick of butter into 8 pieces, wrap in foil, keep in fridge, and hand out. Tell them it’s expensive and they should appreciate it.
Offer Lessons in Evolved Fear
In this Sunday’s Weekend Link Love, I linked to an article about the evolution of fear. It turns out that most of the things we innately fear, like snakes, spiders, heights, the dark, and deep water correspond to real dangers faced throughout the course of human evolution. Halloween is the perfect time to give a lesson on how it all works.
Gather three tarantulas, three black widows, two scorpions, one snake (ideally not venomous), 1000 fly larvae, two bats, and assorted cobwebs and other bugs. Set up shop on the edge of a rocky cliff. The possibilities are endless.
Rail Against the Sins of Sugar Consumption On the Busiest Trick-or-Treating Corner
Now’s the perfect time to change hearts and minds. Dress in your Sunday best, grab a big sandwich board sign, and scrawl quotes from Gary Taubes and yours truly. Wear the sign and hit the busiest trick-or-treating street near you.
Hand out printed out copies of “The Definitive Guide to Sugar.” Have the article on sugar alcohols handy in case you get into nuanced discussions.
Tell kids that “Sisson saves” and “Gary loves you but hates the sin.”
Burn a pile of granulated sugar in the street. Make sure it burns, rather than turns into delicious caramel.
Hand out stevia packets.
Go On a Candy Bender
It’s Halloween night. Your kids are down for the count, having eaten their nightly allotment. Cleaning up, you come across a Baby Ruth candy bar. It used to be your favorite one. In your heyday, you’d go through five King-Sized bars every week. How long has it been?
You’re doing so well. You just read The Keto Reset and finally beat that stall you hit a few months back. The weight’s flying off, and by the looks of it appears to be almost all lost body fat. Your wife’s even taken notice. You feel her eyes all over you, lingering in the best of ways.
One can’t hurt…. You unwrap it, take a bite. You take another. And another. It’s gone. You’re on to the next one.
You hit the chocolates first. Snickers, Kit-Kat, Milky Way. Then the fruity candies: Skittles, Starbursts, Sour Patch Kids, Sweet Tarts. Then the weird stuff you hated as a kid. candy corn, Twizzlers, Tootsie Rolls. You don’t care anymore. You eat it all.
Your child’s stash exhausted, you move onto the drug stores. CVS is selling fun-sized Three Musketeers for a buck a bag. You don’t even like nougat, but you buy out the store anyway. That’s the last thing you remember.
Three months later, you have no teeth. Your insulin is so high you can feel it. All the weight’s back on, and more. You stumble to a pay phone and dial your house. A stranger picks up. “There’s no one here by that name.”
Well, that’s it for today. If you’ve got any other ideas for observing Halloween as a devoted Primal type, share the joy below.
Thanks for stopping by today. Happy Halloween, everybody.
