Thinking about all the ways certain professors at the art academy (I dropped out after the first year) would make fun of dc/marvel type comics,anime, character design kind of art, all these things i loved. I used to feel very stupid and silly for enjoying "low brow" art and media and traditional drawing techniques. I would try and follow their way of thinking and felt insane imposter syndrome because i just couldn't take these things, their kind of art, as seriously the way my teachers and some colleagues did.

(they LOVED conceptual art, loooveeed it while I made very old school Durer-esque ink illustrations in high school and later the academy, which btw they didn't really like either because it was ''too traditional'')

When these thoughts hit me i draw a hot elf again and I think ''wow what a bunch of buzzkills lmao''. Having the time of my life drawing knights, elves and all your little blorbos. If you don't like the art you're making and if you're only doing it because you think that's what real art is I'm here to tell you that's all a bunch of crap. Anyone who has ever tried to define art has been wrong and you will end up in a hole of misery and perfectionsim that you'll never get out of.

You don't have to change the world with your art, you don't have to have exhibits, you really don't need to take yourself seriously, you don't need a diploma from people who stopped loving and making art decades ago. It's enough to share your little fanart sketches on tumblr, bluesky, tik tok or wherever if that's the way making and sharing art makes you happy.
