I think the only really solid piece of writing advice I can offer is that the thing that matters most in your writing is your characters' emotional reality. Every descriptive detail you include should serve that end. I have read so many lavish, beautiful descriptions that ultimately convey nothing -- readers can pull up google images if they want to see a sunset, a delicious meal, or a beautiful dress. What's actually relevant is the loneliness the protagonist feels remembering how much her father loved watching sunsets, the comforting warmth of their favorite meal after a trying day, or the fact that the dress makes her feel so beautiful she finally sees herself the way her love interest does.

OH MY GOD Kinger was SO good in this one!!!! I didn't really like him before, he was just a one-note comedic relief, I didn't expect him to go full-on dad mode with Pomni and have such a sad backstory. That flashback almost made me cry. Now every time he hides himself in his dark pillow fort or mentions a bug im gonna think of this…

Just the idea that he hides in the dark as an attempt to hold onto the little memories of his wife that he has is so sad, i really hope we see more of this side of Kinger. Also Sean Chiplock (Kingers va) frikin KILLED IT.

Also the “Your beautiful honey” killed me dead, probably my favorite line of the episode. I can’t believe we got confirmation of Queenie after theorizing about her for a year now.

Bro the animation popped off in this episode. Not just in the horror aspect but the shaders were fantastic. You can tell Netflix gave them a shit ton of money because everything just looks amazing. Like look at the texture on Kingers eyes, immaculate. Had me blown away the whole time.

Dont have that much to say about this but Zooble be expressing some hardcore gender dysphoria/body dismorphia rn.

I wonder what the general opinion of the Transformers fandom is when it comes to Transformers Earthspark Season 2... Because, and it pains me to say this, but I didn't like it at all 😭 Season 1 was so fun!! So interesting, so full of lovely found family moments, amazing action and animation, and intriguing writing! But Season 2 feels so... off? It's not just one thing about it, it's everything about it... I see some fans really enjoyed it and I'm happy for them!! I really wish I got the same enjoyment from it too tbh Honestly I'm going to pretend only the first season of Transformers Earthspark exists and there's not another season U_U The first season was peak fr fr, gonna rewatch it sometime 🙏 Gotta rewatch Transformers Prime too... Each season of that one was amazing!! And then Transformers Animated for funsies 🥺 ((Though I'm rewatching the 2007 movie currently because I love to torture myself with bad media and imagine myself making an hour long youtube rant video about it FDHDFHD))

i think the cherry on top for mouthwashing's ending is jimmy Didnt take responsibility. he justified to himself or maybe even really thought he was taking responsibility by letting curly live and killing himself but realistically? he was just running away from responsibility like he always has. because as a person jimmy fundamentally cant take responsibility. and thats what makes him such an unlikable character. he does horrific things and justifies it to himself. instead of living on and owning up to his crimes jimmy shoots himself, in all ways the easy out. in contrast to this, curly isnt entirely innocent but he Could take responsibility. in his talk with jimmy near the end where he says he'll play the villain because he didnt stop jimmy in his actions, when he should have, hes taking responsibility for actions he didnt even commit. but he DID play a part in letting them fester, and he fully realizes that after all of this.

curly is the one that got to live because, out of the two of them, hes the only one who can truely take responsibility.

i've wanted to draw scott for a while actually,, i think abt how he looks similar to how people draw teen kyle all the time its kind of funny

i don't really have any real headcanons (unfortunately) but i do have some thoughts/concepts:

- he was portrayed as kind of a joker parody in ep 201 and i wanna see more of that so i like the idea of scott vs the freedom pals or something

- i think he probably still keeps close tabs on cartman and liane. what he is going to do with that information is anyone's guess but i think that even if he got over the need and obsession for revenge, there'd be a part of him that couldn't let go and needs some sort of control

- also along the lines of teen kyle looking similar to scott: kyle definitely has gotten teased for that at least uh twice

- i wonder if scott ever tried to get revenge on radiohead bc he was mocked by his favorite band while already in a vulnerable state and idk he'd definitely have some kind of resentment

- scott and cartman being half brothers makes you think abt the genetic and environmental influences of either one's behavior as characters

The 'transtrender' thing is so fucking funny to me because it's been going on for years. If people are 'becoming trans for a trend' then we would stop seeing that happening in like three months because trends don't last long.

If being trans was 'trendy' in 2016, 'transtrenders' — or what truscum consider to be transtrenders — wouldn't exist today. And seeing as all it takes to be labeled as a trender is being non-dysphoric, xenic, gender nonconformist, or anything that doesn't adhere to the gender binary and its gender roles, 'trenders' still exist.

Damn, it's almost like these 'trenders' are also trans people. It's almost like that.

The alliance between witches and illagers is so shakey its kind of funny. They both know they gain from working together but god do they wish they didn't.

Witches manage to keep their alliance by keeping potion recipes, and antidotes to themselves. The ones that are allowed the "privilege" of staying within mansions pass on illager fighting tactics to the others in case potions alone won't fend the illagers off.

Illagers don't like anyone that isn't them. Even then that's kind of debatable. In fact they view witches in the same way that they view villagers, below them. If it weren't for the fact that illagers are too busy figuring out a different type of magic, and if witches weren't to gatekeepy with their brewing knowledge, they'd have broken their alliance long ago.

They're both passive to eachothers faces but behind closed doors they hold such disdain against the other. It's a miracle they're even able to work together at all.

Millionaires and billionaires can only be good if they use their wealth to support their community and give back to the people they likely exploited to get that wealth.

A recent, fantastic example of this was a grazier buying the only local veterinary practice for 400 km in outback Australia when the clinic was about to be shut down due to poor revenue and loss of employees. After they bought it, with no experience in running a vet clinic mind you, they increased the offered wages, offered housing and flexible hours after shadowing a vet for a day and realising how long they had to work, and even opened up a day clinic 200 km away for grooming and other procedures. If they hadn't have done this, a whole region would have been without accessible veterinary care.

Millionaires and billionaires should be the pinnacles of our communities because of their support for our communities, not simply because they have amassed enough wealth to separate themselves from the rest.

Every time I work up the courage to feed my black widows, or as I did tonight, rehouse my brown recluse, there is such a sense of relief and accomplishment, which while great always strikes me as a little bit ironic. The only reason I even keep these animals is because I know with a reasonable amount of certainty I can successfully care for them and not receive bites. But after I actually manage to not get bitten, there's that moment of "holy shit I actually did that." Like as if some part of me still kinda doubted 😅

this may be disregarding canon but because of bad wolf she’s like. basically immortal. and when she gets stuck in pete’s world she just like? makes her own time machine? and becomes the doctor of her dimension while trying to get back to the doctor or something. or maybe the doctor is the one who ends up in the alternate dimension somehow, and the tardis accepts rose as her new Thief and she tries to get the doctor back and accidentally ends up sorta becoming the new doctor?? and somehow she gets her doctor back and he’s like well what have you been up to? and she says oh well yknow. the universe needed a doctor, and you weren’t exactly around to do the job, and oh rassilon, he missed that mischievous curl of her smirk, the flash of her tongue poking out from between her lips as she grins triumphantly, and he loves her so much he’s bursting with it, and he has nothing to say other than oh my clever, precious girl, you are full of surprises.

I've been slowly building my Daeva playlist, and I ended up adding Little Talks and Dirty Paws. I like the idea of a Dark Urge who has all these flashes of images that they don't recognise as memories. she gets deja vu a lot, so to make sense of it all I imagine that Daeva makes up stories. lots of metaphors, lots of feelings, most of her stories don't really have a cohesive plot but she still likes to tell them. I imagine that she struggles with writing things, it gives her a headache after a while, so she sometimes asks the other companions for help writing her stories down. for safe-keeping

Well then. I had to take a plane ride with some obnoxiously talkative neighbors that would have prevented me from taking a nap, so instead I decided to put on headphones and watch a movie. The in-flight entertainment catalog was not very varied, so I ended up settling on the live action Aladdin, which I have been blissfully avoiding all these years. And yeah, that sure was a movie.

I'd say that I enjoyed it less than both the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, particularly the latter, which I actually had genuine fun with, albeit most probably because I watched it with a friend and we were so carried away by pointing at the screen and riffing off each other that it might have created an illusion of a grand old time, softening the flaws of the film. Anyway.

There were a number of things that I kind of liked about live action Aladdin. They almost, just barely, brought the experience to the brink of being fun.

I remember all the Blue Will Smith memes back in the day, but he actually was one of the least meh parts of the movie for me? His performance was charming, when he was being himself rather than emulating Robin Williams. And I really appreciated the idea of this version of Genie turning into a human once he was freed from the lamp. Aside from that, I was rather interested in some of the new additions/character expansions (and I actually laughed out loud at the "I am going to get some bread... To go with all the jams" bit, it aligns perfectly with my sense of humor), but then they sort of... slipped away.

I wanna draw a parallel with the visuals here: in some parts of the movie, like the cave of wonders and the landscapes in A Whole New World, the backdrop was rather muddled. Both in terms of a diluted colour scheme and in terms of overcluttered details that do not pop the same way as the more simplistic yet bold and expressive animated scenes.

The plot buildup feels the same: there were moments that made me mentally go "Ooh, nice", like the backstory of Jasmine's mom, or the hints that Jafar and Aladdin are foils of each other, with similar backgrounds as thieves, or the attempt to make the captain of the guard more three-dimensional than "Grr gotta chase Aladdin with a sword"; but then they were not explored in-depth.

And I get that, I am beset by blorbo concepts that come to me as kernels of potentially intriguing plot and then simmer into nothingness all the time. But I am a small gremlin with a mundane day job, not a big-name creator at a multi-billion business meant to entertain people across the globe.

My biggest disappointment, though, aside from the almost complete loss of Iago's personality (which is also why I felt it made little sense for Jafar to pull Iago into the lamp at the end, as this is now less of a sidekick that you want to take down with you, but a random borb that talks sometimes), was the fact that I fully expected the himbo Fantasy North European Prince to show up when Jafar tossed Aladdin into the middle of the snowy nowhere.

I wanted it to be his kingdom, and for him to come riding in on a sleigh or something, and be like "Hey man, I see you got the princess over me, no hard feelings, let me give you a hand". The story paid way too much attention to him during the first act, turning the original asshole suitor from the animated movie into a dumbass but well-meaning jock that got bitten by Rajah not because he was being a douche to Jasmine but because he could not resist petting the Danger Kitty, which. Valid.

Oh, and I guess the nostalgia bait of the songs worked on me to some extent, and I am now having flashbacks to my own retelling of Aladdin that I toyed with but obviously shelved because I did not want to come off as culturally insensitive. Overall, not the worst alternative to failing to nap.

when I was a kid I lived in a little minnesotan town called spring grove for a while. my mom and I lived on main street above the hardware store, and across the street from us was the towns laundromat.

it was owned by a guy named Lucky, and while he's dead now (rip) him and his wife made that place one of those utilitarian tertiary places it was lovely.

although he did also collect dolls and hang them from the ceiling so. it gave the place a certain vibe and I still can't place it all this time later. it doubled as a thrift store, and they had boxes of old toys that were both for sale and just for kids to play with if they came in, and I used to walk over there just to play and hang out all the time. even when we weren't doing laundry lucky would still just let me hang out. the other patrons' kids would come in and we'd play while their parents waited for the laundry to get done.

I really fully think that bathhouses and stuff would be way more beneficial to society than most people give them credit for. we're a social species and having a safe and (maybe interesting?) public space to hang out in while performing another task just makes sense. it's like a park but instead of just a bunch of turf grass to maintain for families to use 4 months out of the year when it's warm enough it's a building with better potential profit incentives than a few shitty vending machines and parking tickets. like even if you did a free bath house, you could still sell extra towels and spa services and stuff y'know?

whenever i see talk about third spaces people pretty much always mean bars, or other places of consumption. Nobody really talks about something like a public bathhouse that would be a massive boon for local homeless people, or making local laundromats a free public service. These can, and I think absolutely should be valuable and very utilitarian third spaces for community building.

Is this my best comic ever?? Nope. Do I think I characterized either of these two particularly well in this comic?? Not really. Did I spend an unreasonable amount of time on it to the point that it would be a waste to not post it?? Yes, yes I did.

I really committed to this one, spent a lot of time on those backgrounds and treated myself to ample suffering with the perspective, which is not my strong suit but I am happy with how it ultimately looks. Yay perspective and background practice!!

(Tbh I shouldn't talk like I think this one sucks, I think I've just been staring at it for so long that my brain has decided it's not good and it's actually way better than I think it is, and honestly I am quite happy with it. The artistic process really is something, isn't it?)

The inspiration was basically me reminding... myself... to take breaks sometimes... by drawing for several hour stints during my only little bits of free time. Which totally tracks. Probably. But I've been rolling around in my brain this idea that Lambert is a very uptight people pleaser and anxious workaholic, but Narinder, at least since adjusting himself to the circumstances (which probably took at least a century, maybe two) has discovered the joys of self care, and has made an active effort to chill tf out. This has not made him any less terrifying to the cultists (save for Lambert's closest disciples), nor has it made him friendlier to really anyone but Lambert (and maybe his siblings), but he sure has found some serious peace of mind. That said, I can't place what his motivations are here. Perhaps he is secretly concerned about Lambert's sanity, because he doesn't want them to turn into what he was, or maybe he's just trying to steal away some quality time with his one and only friend, but regardless of the reason, I spent too much time on this for nobody to see it, dang it.

That said. Enjoy this silly little comic that I spent way too much time on, and I hope this silly comic brings you some joy today.

Another Sibling Danny and Jason idea!!

"Are you Jason Peter Todd?!" demanded a deep and commanding tone from the strange glowing being in front of them.

All the Bats stiffened and tensed, no doubt gearing up for a fight against the being that somehow knew Red Hood's full name.

Jason, Red Hood, decided to put on a brave front despite no doubt cursing in his head and wondering how the heck did this thing know his full freaking name.

"Whose asking." he snarled out, his hands twitching for his gun when the huge glowing knight with purple flames coming out of his helmet and cape, who was riding on a nightmare looking horse while they all had been in the cave going over tonight's patrol.

The Knight didn't seemed bothered by his response nor did he even seem to care or flinch when Batman made his own demand on 'Why was he there and who was he' or when Damian unsheathed his sword and pointed it towards him. Instead the strange glowing Knight reached to it side and pulled out... A glowing scroll? Huh. (Also he completely unnerved everyone in the room when the Knight didn't even react when Batman had tossed a Baterang when he reached for his side)

The Knight opened the scroll and spoke clearly with purpose.

"Jason Peter Todd,

You are hereby invited as a special guest of honor to the crowning of our future King of the Infinite Realms.

Daniel Phantom, once Daniel Jackson Fenton, and once Daniel Austen Todd.

I'm a trans woman but in a 'I am so trans that every gender I experience is through a trans lens. Saying I'm just a woman wouldn't be accurate at all; without the trans prefix my womanhood is cancelled out and overshadowed even more by the other parts of my gender' kind of way, ya know?
