AHHHHGHHGHHHHHHH this is the best thing that could come from a reblog ever!!!!!! ok ok im going to yap a bit about this but that’s only cause i need my gnr x mc crumbs

i love every single thing about this, from ginger mick becoming the object of axls jealous fury, to izzy and mick being the ones swapping bands (because let’s face it, they’re the same person… except one is doing drugs with nikki and the others trying to get him not to do drugs lol).

i feel like slash would be the only person mick would recognize (seeing as though tommy and nikki hang around him often), so he’d try to latch onto him… but then steven gets in the way and mick doesn’t understand why tommy 2.0 is following him around until he asks slash and he’s like “oh he feels comfortable around you, that’s just how he is around ppl he likes.” so now he has another puppyesque drummer following him around and infodumping about his band.

then maybe one day, while they’re all rehearsing, axl starts going a bit crazy. you know, the usual throwing tables and stuff. micks like deadass staring at this guy like he’s insane. he’s just like “dude are you done? we don’t have time for you to throw some prissy fit.” and like that humbles axl so deeply. (he’s had experience humbling the fuck outta vince) everyone’s so surprised he managed to subdue axl and micks just like “dude it’s just lsd, you can fix that with time!” (*lsd: lead singer disease) still, axls throwing him shady ass side eyes as they continue rehearsing. mick then finally asks his new puppy steven what all that was about and ofc stevie just unloads all of axls personal lore on him. and then mentions that axls jealous of him (ginger mick ofc). axl apparently thinks micks hair is a lighter shade of orange which means his is better and axl hates that so bad. (yes there can only be one ginger…but if there has to be two, than he wants the prettier shade.) somehow he gets through it. maybe they both bond over their pale skin… or maybe axl shows him his freckles (which are probably hidden somewhere on his body), which makes mick feel better about his freckled arms.

while he finds himself growing fond of steven, he finds himself unable to connect with him musically. steven is too unpredictable and all over the place, and mick has grown accustomed to tommys more manageable chaos. this is where duff comes in. he’s solid and safe enough for mick to connect with him. they don’t really get close, probably because duff is that same brand of punk that nikki is but more laid back. mick always feels like he’s just the old man in that regard, even if duff never treats him that way. duff might even call mick izzy if he’s had too much to drink… mainly because he sees him as an even more quieter izzy tbh. and slash is a friend of the band so he always finds himself talking to him. he’d definitely regard him as almost a better guitarist than himself, so he won’t overstep boundaries. he’s fine with being their rhythm guitarist for this little show. (oh and slash probably likes this because he’s always wanted to get closer to the rest of the crue and he finds mick to be the most challenging one to get to know cause he’s so quiet. he’d probably be surprised it’s mick initiating most of the conversations too.)

(also I like the idea of mick asking about izzy and what he’s like and then hearing them describe him. he ends up going “wow…the way you describe him is almost exactly the way my boys describe me!” and everyone in gnr going “yeah cause you two are the same person!”)

and you can bet the gnr guys are begging mick to give them any info on the crue that could give them the upper hand on the competition. mick sincerely doesn’t know what they’re doing without him and if he had to guess it’s probably just them all trying to kill each other while izzy looks on in misery. (spoiler alert: it’s not.)

ok this is getting too long and i should probably stop yapping. robin I love this sooooo much im going to be thinking about this for days now!!! i hope this doesn’t take away from the og post cause its soooooo good rahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

gnr/mc bandmate swap au (shoutout to @cruesuffix ) + ginger 80s mick au

ginger mick n axl...... the redheads..... stage interactions..... the fans would go crazy over them I think (I sure would)

building out the bandmate swap au on the fly here as well. each band gets a couple weeks to get used to their "new" bandmate, and at the end of the swap, they get to perform a couple songs for a live audience to see how well they can work together on short notice. the getting to know each other phase gets weekly episodes on TV, the gig at the end is a live transmission program, but also an event that fans can buy tickets for.

anyway, at first mick would feel a bit out of place. gnr got more bandmembers, more people to get to know. Steven almost instantly takes a liking to him, following Mick around like a curious puppy. the others take a while to get used to Mick but eventually come around.

going with the ginger 80s Mick au: Axl would probably feel a bit threatened. His unique hair colour is no longer as unique with another redhead around. And with most of the camera crew's attention being on Mick anyways since he's the exchange guitarist, Axl keeps his distance and is throwing Mick distrusting looks. But they eventually form an alliance just in time for rehearsals and the live performance. To show that GnR with Mick on guitar is even better than whatever Mötley Crüe can cook up with Izzy on guitar.

I don't know too much about the GnR band members besides Axl and Steven (through mutuals dashboard osmosis) so I hope all of this makes sense 🙏
