Uh, actually, radfems are talking about it. We talk about it all the time. @ovaruling speaks about it pretty frequently, as she has experience with chronic pain and disability due to plastic surgery.

Very recently (like, within the past few months) there as a several thousand note post going around that was pretty much saying that any critique of plastic surgery is anti-trans because trans people need it and if we try to regulate cosmetic surgery at all it will make it harder for them to access srs, so that may be part of why you are seeing so little criticism of plastic surgery in your circles

About surgeries. There was a case in my country of a 16-years-old dying from a botched labiaplasty... By pure chance, I ended up administrating a tattoo/pericing parlor alongside a woman who actually knew the poor thing. It turned out that she got groomed by this 30-something-years-old man (who had no qualifications yet still stuck around the local bodymod community) who convinced her to let him perform it on her, she started bleeding a few days after, then died in ICU.

That’s just heartwrenching. And so preventable. I bet that man doesn’t even care.

All this anti trans legislation, meanwhile there are MORE cosmetic surgeries done on minors than gender affirming surgeries on minors. I don’t know why no one is talking about it.

#hope I’m not overstepping by tagging you ovaruling #but I don’t like the implication here that NO ONE is talking about this issue #because it is SO OFTEN brought up as an argument against us when we critique surgery on trans teens #when we are ALSO extremely critical of plastic surgery in general on. not only minors. but adults too #we are critical of ALL plastic surgery and people refuse to understand that #we’re not just targeting trans kids for being trans or whatever they think #we’re not singling them out. and I want people to understand that #a child whose body is still growing should absolutely not have most body mods in general #not even tattoos. a 15yr old shouldn’t get a tattoo because it will change a bit as they grow more #but these industries prey on people to make money #and we need to be cautious and critical of them #just look at tiktok plastic surgeons. they are not people we should trust #they are like a big company twitter account trying to act cool to entice customers #so that they can fill their pockets #because that’s all they care about
