When the recent documentary “Leaving Neverland” surfaced without warning, Michael Jackson fans behave as they always have done in leaping to their idol’s defense. It has been a matter of necessity for them since the 1990s when the first claims of child molestation surfaced. By now, some are masters at marshaling evidence to the contrary while the rest of us are still learning the ropes.
If there was ever a popular icon whose reputation was as beleaguered by attacks on his integrity more than Jackson, I’ve yet to hear his/her name. Yet, knowing he was innocent of such wrong-doing (though arguably guilty of being naive and over-generous) fans have mounted campaigns to remind us of his innocence in the face of a media who predominantly does not care beyond the headlines and web clicks.
Trial by media has been a recurring theme throughout the adult career and afterlife of Michael Jackson. He is someone the media love to see brought down. The biggest star on the planet, and the most recognizable, makes for incredible stats whenever his name is attached to a story. The fans know this. They know who the real villains are, and they know the motivations behind the sensational headlines.
The “Leaving Neverland” documentary – though not qualifying as a documentary because it is a one-sided account lacking in any attempt at objective assessment, was launched on unsuspecting audiences in January 2019, in the hope that we would all be horrified at its claims. Except, we’ve heard and seen all this before – the names and faces may change, or their stories may change, but the scenarios remain the same; as does the motivation.
So, the fans resort to the best possible defense, i.e. the factual evidence. They bring out court transcripts, depositions, videoed interviews, written statements of support from Michael’s former friends turned opportunists (with respect to the individuals in the documentary) and, in the case of Jackson family members and his industry colleagues, first-hand experience of Michael’s belated accusers and their behavior.
Still, and despite all this readily available material (with the fans making sure it IS available for anyone who cares to investigate the matter) we have media outlets and particular individuals who continue to defame the music icon posthumously – because of laziness in terms of doing their job, or because it is much more “rewarding” to slander Jackson, alive or dead, than to vindicate him, particularly now that he cannot respond in person.
Young fans and those not familiar with anti-defamation laws have been astounded to discover that there is nothing to protect the deceased from such unproven attacks except in a few countries. This is not to say that the unmasking of true predators should be prohibited after their passing; not at all. But attacking the integrity of a deceased person, particularly such a high-profile public figure as Jackson, without giving his Estate or family right of reply first, is nothing short of COWARDLY.
This is NOT unmasking, THIS IS LYNCHING . It is a case of not wanting to give an opportunity for defense because it will invariably expose the deception being mounted by his belated accusers.
Michael Jackson’s Estate is responding legally to Leaving Neverland by using a non-disparagement in perpetuity clause from an old contract between Jackson and HBO, one of the producers of the Leaving Neverland documentary. [1] In terms of the Jackson family, Michael’s nephew Taj Jackson has launched a crowd funding campaign to produce his own documentary to comprehensively deal with/debunk the allegations made against his uncle over the years. [2] In terms of the fans, in France a coalition of fan groups have taken legal action, using the defamation legislation that exists in that country. [3]
Elsewhere we write letters, join campaigns, donate money towards billboards and other materials promoting Jackson’s innocence and calling for a thorough investigation of his current accusers and the documentary’s creators. At times it gets overwhelming. But with the truth on our side, the fans fight on with whatever tools are available to us.
If the battle seems exhausting and endless, we have the words of Michael himself for encouragement, not just in his music and videos, but in the message he wrote to his fans after the emotionally and physically draining marathon of accusations, arrest and 6-month trial process he endured between November 2003- June 2005, at the end of which he was acquitted of all charges:
“Without God, my children, my family, and you, my fans, I could not have made it through. Your love, support and loyalty made it all possible. You were there when I really needed you, and I will never forget you. Your ever-present love held me, dried my tears, and carried me through. I will treasure your devotion and support forever. You are my inspiration. Love…” – Michael Jackson, June 26, 2005 [4]

Mother's Day Reunion: Military Dad and Mom Reunited with Children 3 Years After Kansas Took Them Over Medical Cannabis
The Schwab family – their ordeal is finally over. They joined activists speaking out for families at the Fools No More Rally in Topeka, Kansas, on April 2, 2018. Photo provided by Raymond Schwab.
by Health Impact News/MedicalKidnap.com Staff
Shortly before Mother's Day 3 years ago, on April 26, 2015, the Department for Children and Families (DCF) in Kansas seized 5 children from Raymond and Amelia Schwab over false allegations.
Now, just before Mother's Day 2018 – 3 years later – their nightmare is officially over. The children are home and the case against them is finally closed.
See our original coverage of their story here:
Navy Dad Goes on Hunger Strike in Kansas Until State-Kidnapped Children are Returned or He Starves to Death
The happy parents took to Facebook Live on Thursday night, May 10, to share their joyous news, surrounded by 2 of their children and a couple of pet guinea pigs. The children shouted:
We don't have court anymore!
Raymond said:
In a stunning surprise, we got an email today that the Kansas case has been dismissed. We are officially, completely and utterly out of out of DCF business, out of court business.
It is over.
There is a great deal of excitement in the Schwab household over the news, and Amelia had a huge smile on her face as she exclaimed:
Finally!
The children came home on December 27, 2017, but as families whose children have been taken by Child Protective Services know, just because the children come home, it did not mean that the case was over at that time. Social workers and court hearings continued to be part of their lives until the case was finally closed yesterday.
The final closure of the case was not expected to happen for another 2 months, but the unexpected email arrived Thursday, May 10, 2018 to announce the good news.
Even so, Raymond told Health Impact News that even this is not really a “win” because they lost so many years with their children. Those are years they can never get back.
Mother of Medically Kidnapped Children Speaks Out
Amelia Schwab has been largely silent throughout the family's entire ordeal, staying in the background as her Navy Veteran husband became the voice and face of the fight for families all across Kansas and even the United States.
On Friday, she spoke up in a powerful Facebook post about what they have been through:
I still can't believe it's over!! The stress I have felt for 3 years is gone!! I have my children back!!!! We are healing…
Now we will persevere with making these people be held accountable! We will shout it from the rooftops what dcf kvc and st Francis community services did!! We will encourage others to file law suits and be proactive! We will help others when we can. This isn't over by a long shot.
I was silent but my children are here behind me… so now it's time to roar!! My fight now is for our own justice, others suffering the same cause as ours, and my future grandchildren's lives.
Amelia beamed at her husband Thursday night as they shared the good news that their DCF case is over. Photo from Facebook.
Child predator services needs shut down!! We need a new system!
People say “what will we do for the children who need intervention if there is no cps…” you will save so many lives that's what you will do if child predator services get shut down. Look at the statistics! The WORST homes are SAFER than cps care!!
The children who need to be taken need help. Right now they don't get it, they are further traumatized and most of the time drugged. Children that are DYING from abuse at the hands of the state care. Sexual abuse and child sex trafficking is rampant for children in state care.
The parents that need help, training, and real resources that will actually help (in most cases); right now they are bombarded with case plan tasks and futile classes.
Many parents take their own lives in the midst of the stress child predator services puts on them. Too many children feel hopeless as well ending their short lives.
We need a new system in place! That's years beyond, it's probably true. If people stay dormant and do nothing except complain, it may never change.
I do see an awakening but not enough to make a difference.
We have to be louder!!! We need more people to get involved! We need better coordination nationally! So many children's lives depend on what we do!! Sit back be silent and blood is on your hands also. If you know what's happening and don't do anything you are guilty of whatever these children in state custody go through.
It's time to stand up and speak the truth to save these children. It's time for the children to speak and be heard. ~Amelia
Amelia speaks of things about which the general public remains largely unaware. Like most Americans, they learned these things the hard way – as they happened to her own family.
Hard Fought Battle
The Schwabs have traveled cross-country speaking out against the injustices that they see in the system.
Raymond Schwab went on a 17 day hunger strike on the steps of the steps of the Kansas capitol. The couple and their oldest son Tyler have traveled to Washington, D.C., several times to rally for families and to speak with legislators.
Tyler was not taken by DCF because he was already 18 by the time his siblings were taken. He spoke out many times on behalf of his younger brothers and sister.
Tyler with his parents at a candlelight vigil in Washington D.C. Photo from Free the Schwab Children Facebook page.
Theirs was a hard-fought battle. It was costly.
During the reunification process, Raymond Schwab took a job in Puerto Rico helping the people there rebuild after their hurricane. He was thankful that God provided the job, but he points out the irony of having to go so far away from home simply in order to be able to pay for the reunification of his own family.
He says that they were spending $700 a month on court-ordered counseling because he didn't qualify for Medicaid. They had to come up with $1000 for a home inspection in order to get their children back.
How can families without resources fight such an expensive battle? Raymond said:
There were times I didn't think it was going to happen. I would not want to subject what our family had to go through on my worst enemy, and yet there are parents that have far worse, and there are parents that get [their parental rights] terminated, and there are grandparents that get terminated.
Like Most Foster Children, Schwab Children Were Taken for Unsubstantiated Allegations
The Schwab children should not have been taken, as is clear from the original allegations were found to be “unsubstantiated” less than 3 months after they were taken.
The children were taken in Kansas while their parents were packing up to move back to their home state of Colorado. The Schwab parents thought that things would be cleared up quickly, so they continued their move as they worked to get their children back.
The children were kept in Kansas DCF custody after this because their father, a Navy veteran suffering from PTSD, used medical cannabis to treat his PTSD in Colorado, a state where it was legal.
Allegations found Unsubstantiated, yet children still held by DCF. Source: Schwab family.
It was in the Scwabs' story that we first learned that most of the allegations against families whose children are taken from them are not substantiated.
The Topeka Capitol-Journal reported in 2016 that a DCF spokesperson admitted that 96% of the children taken by Kansas DCF are taken for reasons that are not substantiated:
Determining whether an allegation is true is separate from a recommendation to remove children from the home, said Theresa Freed, communications director for DCF. Though an unsubstantiated finding that doesn't lead to a parent getting their child back may be confusing, Freed said, substantiated findings account for only 4 percent of the removals the agency handles.
The numbers are not much better nationwide.
According to the 2016 Child Maltreatment Report by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, only 17% of the allegations against parents are “substantiated” or “founded.” (Source.)

Not Abused at Home, But Traumatized by Abuse in Foster Care
As Amelia pointed out, children are more likely to be abused or even killed in foster care than they are in their own homes. Sadly, this is something their family learned the hard way. Their children, too, suffered abuse under the system that says it protects children.
Health Impact News has previously reported that, under DCF care, at least one of the Schwab children was sexually assaulted, and others were abused.
One child was punched in the face and his glasses were broken, but DCF told the parents in a letter not to worry because the state would replace the glasses broken in the assault.
Unlike the allegations against the parents, those allegations of abuse have been substantiated. At least one of their children was placed on psychotropic drugs.

Their friend and advocate Jennifer Winn, former gubernatorial candidate for the state of Kansas, joined the Facebook Live broadcast to say:
Now we have a family, a beautiful family, that has so much healing to do from the trauma caused by DCF. But it's over!
Advocate Jennifer Winn fought long and hard for the Schwab family and others. Photo from Free the Schwab Children Facebook page.
Amid Their Gratitude, Schwabs Vow to Keep Fighting for Other Families Trapped in the System
The Schwabs consider themselves blessed to have had the support of many. They are grateful to all the people who have stood by them, prayed, financially supported them, and published their story.
Raymond recognized that God was with them through everything, and that there were times that they felt like giving up. In those moments, they were thankful for people who helped to hold them up:
Thank You, Jesus! We can't forget that. We thank the Lord first and foremost, because it was our faith praying through this and having confidence that we were not alone.
Even in the spiritual [unclear], that helped us stand up when we didn't want to stand up anymore, we didn't want to get up any more.
He wants to encourage other parents who are fighting for their children:
We've just got to keep up the fight and hope that our story inspires people to never give up. Never quit. Never surrender.
The part of fighting DCF to get their children home is indeed over. But the battle for families is not over by any means. Raymond and Amelia Schwab and Jennifer Winn have each stated that they intend to keep fighting for justice for all families.
Raymond said that they will keep supporters posted as they heal and work to help other families and change the system. They will continue to post on their Facebook page, Free the Schwab Children, although, Raymond said with a smile, they will have to change the name of the page:
The Schwab Children Are Free!
Their son Asher shouted out a blessing at the end of the video:
Let the Lord be with you!

If the gospel we believe doesn't cause us to liberate people from the chains of our prejudices and selfishness, then perhaps we don’t understand it.
Therefore I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers, because I hear about your love for all his holy people and your faith in the Lord Jesus. I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.
Therefore, although in Christ I could be bold and order you to do what you ought to do, yet I prefer to appeal to you on the basis of love. It is as none other than Paul — an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus — that I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, who became my son while I was in chains. Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me.
I am sending him — who is my very heart — back to you. I would have liked to keep him with me so that he could take your place in helping me while I am in chains for the gospel. But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that any favor you do would not seem forced but would be voluntary. Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for a little while was that you might have him back forever — no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother. He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a fellow man and as a brother in the Lord (Philemon 1:4-16).
I was re-reading Philemon this week. That doesn’t take long; the “book” (personal letter) is only 25 verses long. You can read it in five minutes, maybe less. Go ahead. I’ll wait.
Philemon’s so short that you could miss it if two pages in your Bible stick together. It’s in some ways an odd little letter, stuck between Paul’s longer letters to Timothy and Titus and the much longer anonymous “letter” to the “Hebrews.” Philemon is probably Paul’s most personal letter. He isn’t trying to correct bad theology or false practices in a church, as he usually does in his letters. He’s just writing to a man named Philemon. He is a man of high social standing, whom he writes on behalf of a man named Onesimus, a man Paul has met.
The story, as nearly as we can reconstruct it, goes something like this. Philemon is a householder, probably from the area of Colosse (compare the name “Archippus” in Philemon 1:2 and Colossians 4:17). Philemon is indebted to Paul who led Philemon to his conversion to Christ. A church meets in Philemon's house, which means he is wealthy enough to have a good-sized home. Paul considers him a “partner in the faith.” Paul has also been encouraged by reports of Philemon’s love for the church and his faith in Jesus. Paul also compliments him on how he has “refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.”
Paul and Philemon have a surprising mutual acquaintance: a man named Onesimus. Paul considers Onesimus his “son” and “his very heart.” Onesimus is “dear” to Paul and has become “useful” to him in his current circumstances — Paul is in prison. In Paul's day, being in prison meant that a friend or family member would have to supply his food and other needs. That seems to be what Onesimus has been doing for Paul.
At some point during Paul’s relationship with Onesimus, he led Onesimus to Christ. During their conversations, the story has come out that Onesimus owes Philemon a debt. He is an escaped slave. He has perhaps even stolen some of his master’s money. In any case, he has violated the law by running away. No doubt trying to hide in whatever city Paul is imprisoned in, he has met the apostle and come to Christ. And, together, they have come to a difficult decision: Onesimus should return to Philemon and face the consequences of his offenses.
This letter isn’t just about the relationships between these men. Primarily it has to with the question of what demands the gospel makes on the way we deal with one another. What does our shared faith mean for our relationships as brothers and sisters in Christ and his church?
At first glance, we may think it is strange that Paul sends Onesimus back to his "owner." Wouldn’t it be better, more compassionate, to hide him? Maybe in the short-term, hiding Onesimus might seem better. However, that choice would be sentencing Onesimus to a lifetime of hiding and pretending to be someone else. Not to mention that the gospel calls us to repentance. How else can Onesimus repent of this crime of defrauding Philemon besides returning — especially now that Philemon is not only his master but also in Christ is his brother?
But, repentance and doing right by our brother in Christ is also true for Philemon. Paul wonders in the letter if God wasn’t at work in these events so that Philemon might “have [Onesimus] back forever — no longer as a slave, but... as a dear brother.”
Paul doesn’t sanction Onesimus remaining a runaway. Neither does he sanction Philemon keeping him as a slave. The clear intent of his writing Philemon is to plead for Onesimus’ emancipation. Based on their relationship as “partners” in the gospel, Paul asks Philemon to welcome Onesimus back “as you would welcome me.” That is, welcome his runaway slave not with a set of chains or punishment for his misdeeds, but with the same love Paul has heard that he has shown for other believers.
In the end, Paul sends Onesimus back, because, dear as he is to Paul, he is “dearer to” Philemon “both as a fellow man and as a brother in the Lord.” He’s “dear” to Philemon as the embodiment of the idea that the gospel creates family and equalizes status (Galatians 3:26-29).
Paul could use his status as Philemon’s older partner in the gospel who is suffering in chains for Christ to compel him to free Onesimus. Paul could even ask Philemon send Onesimus back to continue to minister to his needs in prison, but Paul doesn’t want to force Philemon into anything. He wants whatever favor Philemon might choose to do him to come from his experience of the gospel. Paul wants Onesimus' motivation to come from a transformation in his heart and the way he sees Onesimus through the cross of Jesus. He wants Philemon's decision to come from his understanding of “every good thing [they] share in Christ.” He wants Philemon's actions to come from his longstanding love for Paul and a newly discovered love for Onesimus and their new status as brothers in Christ.
I’m reminded by this little letter that a gospel that doesn’t change the way we see the people around us is no gospel at all. If the gospel we believe doesn't cause us to liberate people from the chains of our prejudices and selfishness, then perhaps we don’t understand it. If it doesn’t lead us to see others as our family in Christ and as precious fellow human beings, it isn’t the gospel of Jesus.
If we can hold grudges for offenses others have committed against us, then maybe we don’t grasp the gospel of Jesus.
If we can worship and serve with people in a church for years and not come to love and care for them, then perhaps the gospel hasn’t really done its work in our hearts.
If especially, we can’t listen to believers older than us with love, respect, and deference, then I wonder if we’re partners in the same gospel that Paul experienced and spent his life proclaiming.
The gospel, when believed, experienced, and turned outward, should “refresh the hearts of the Lord’s people.”
May we refresh the hearts of the people around us in an oppressive world of brutality, bitterness, prejudice, and slavery.

FAMILY TO COMPLETE BUCKET LIST OF TEEN WHO DIED IN CAR CRASH…. The family of a teenager who died after a road accident are to complete a bucket list of her wishes after discovering them on her laptop computer. Asten Jones, 18, of Dunoon, Argyll and Bute, died after her Vauxhall Corsa was involved in a crash with another car on the A815 in Kilmun on 21 May. She was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow suffering from multiple injuries, including to the brain. Doctors took the decision to turn off her life-support machine after realising the severity of her injuries. Mother Cathy Muir said: “Doctors told me that even if she had survived her physical injuries, there was no way she could recover from her brain injuries.” Asten’s family were devastated by their loss and set up a GoFundMe fundraising page to fulfil her wishes, which included her desire to “do something for charity”. Mrs Muir, who has five other children, is preparing for a tandem freefall parachute jump on 22 August, which was one of the items on her bucket list. She said: “We discovered the bucket list on Asten’s computer when we were searching for photographs after her death. “There’s 42 items she wanted to achieve during 2017. We’ve decided that that we are going to complete the bucket list on her behalf. “She wanted to do something for charity, so I’m going to do the jump for charity, I also want to set up a small charity in Asten’s name. “It will allow people to apply for funding for books, uniforms, equipment which will enable them to go to sixth form, college or university to get qualified for their chosen trade.” Eight members of her family hope to work through Asten’s bucket list in her honour by 31 December. The items on the list include: jump into a pool fully-clothed, invent my own cocktail, name a star, get a piercing, go on a road trip with no destination and write a letter to my future self. Mrs Muir added: “We are going to work through the list. We are not all going to do everything, but we think we can do it by the end of the year.” The fundraising page for Asten can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/asten-jones-bucket-list-no-27
EMELI SANDE GIG AT EDINBURGH CASTLE ‘CANCELLED’…. Emeli Sande’s scheduled performance at Edinburgh Castle on July 13 has been cancelled - but the reasons behind the postponement are unclear. The Scottish singer-songwriter had also been due to perform in Cork, in Ireland three days earlier on July 10 but that concert has also been cancelled. A spokesperson for Aiken Promotions confirmed to a Cork radio station that the gig had been cancelled, adding: “Further details have not yet been made available, however, the event has been listed as ‘cancelled’ on Ticketmaster’s website.” Reports in the Netherlands, where Sande was due to perform on Friday at Rotterdam, suggested that the singer-songwriter had cancelled all dates on her European tour due to ‘exhaustion’. And Belgian media also confirmed that the singer had pulled out of a scheduled appearance at the Rcok Werchter festival on July 8, adding that all dates had been called due to ‘fatigue’. Hungarian media reporting on July 4 that Sande was scheduled to appear at the FINA Water World Championships in Budapest on July 14. Ticketmaster UK confirmed that emails had been sent to fans with tickets for the Edinburgh Castle show - but no additional details were made available, and a message on the ticket firm’s website simply read: “Cancelled. We issue all refunds for cancelled events automatically.” No details were available on Sande’s website, with the Rotterdam, Werchter, Cork, Edinburgh and Budapest shows still listed. Her six scheduled performances in August - two in Switzerland; two at the V Festival in England; one in Bochum, Germany and one in Belfast - appear to be going ahead as planned. Sande, 30, is due to embark on a ten-date tour of the UK and Ireland in October, starting in her hometown of Aberdeen, in support of her latest album, Long Live The Angels. The singer took a six-month break from the public eye in 2013, saying at the time: “I’m happy to leave the limelight for a bit and lay low. I’m going to be in the studio working on my next album.” She added: “I just want to make more music, as that’s my favourite thing.”
AUSCHWITZ SURVIVOR SAVED BY SCOTS SOLDIER DIES…. Who married the Scottish soldier who rescued her has died, aged 92. Edith “Eci” Mackay passed away in Balcarres Care Home in Broughty Ferry with her husband of more than seven decades, World War II veteran John, sat by her side. The Holocaust survivor died on Monday, June 26, following a bout of pneumonia. The story of her long, loving marriage to John captured the hearts of thousands of people earlier this year as the couple enjoyed their 71st Valentine’s Day as a married couple. A commando in the London Scottish 1st Battalion, John Mackay helped rescue a group of Jewish prisoners from Auschwitz as they marched with Nazi guards to another concentration camp. His future wife, Eci, was among them. Born Edith Steiner in the Székesfehérvár region of Hungary, she lost 39 members of her family during the holocaust. At a dance organised in a village hall following the rescue by the British troops, John was too nervous to ask Eci for a dance, sending a friend across to ask in his stead. Not impressed, Eci sent the pal back with orders that John should ask her to dance himself – which he did. The couple fell in love and “doted” on each other throughout their 71-year marriage. John and Eci tied the knot in Scotland in July 17, 1946 and referred to each other as “sweetheart” every day. John, now 96, was born in Glasgow and raised in Brighton. The couple lived in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Gleneagles before settling in Pitlochry, where they ran the Atholl Arms Hotel. John also served as a local councillor for many years. In 1997 they moved to Broughty Ferry. They have two children, Sharon MacKay and Peter Mackay, and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Last night Sharon said: “My mum was an extremely private person, very, very kind and quiet. “Mum was just a mum. She was a seamstress in her youth. She was very quiet, very reserved, very kind and very family orientated.” She added that her mum “never spoke about” her time in Auschwitz, but that the story of her parents meeting each other was “amazing”. “I think she had Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and really struggled. She really had a lot of nightmares”, said Sharon. “It was 39 members of their immediate family they lost (during the Holocaust), aunties and uncles.” However she added that her father was “lost” without his beloved wife. She said: “He is absolutely lost. Thankfully they got to spend the last year together. He cared for her.” Eci only found out about one of her cousins, who had also survived the Holocaust and fled to Brazil, in February this year, after long-lost family members got in touch. Balcarres Care Home’s deputy manager, Vera Scrimgoer, said: “Sadly she passed away last week. It was natural causes. “All her family was with her, John was with her as well. It was sad for them. He was just totally doted on her and she doted on him, it was so sad.” Eci will be laid to rest at Dundee Crematorium on July 12. Roughly six million Jewish people died in the Holocaust. Eci’s mother also survived the horrors of Auschwitz, where around a million people perished. They were among the few who avoided death by being asked to work after arriving from a Hungarian ghetto in June 1944, and were resident there for six weeks. Both Eci and her mother were captive in the camp whilst Nazi Josef Mengele was conducting experiments on inmates. Eci made keepsakes during her time in the camp which she kept her whole life, including a comb and book of poems. John also served in North Africa, escaping an Italian prisoner of war camp in Tobruk, Libya.
FORMER COUNCILLOR SPARED JAIL FOR KILLING ABUSER HUSBAND…. A former councillor who killed her husband of 50 years after he had been accused of sexually abusing children has been spared jail. Susanne Wilson, 72, smothered 70-year-old Henry with a cushion at their home in Ayr last September. Wilson had been a carer for her housebound husband, who suffered from chronic heart disease. The court heard she had believed he wanted her to help him take his own life. Wilson – who had previously been facing a murder charge – admitted culpable homicide at the High Court in Glasgow last month. Prosecutors accepted the plea on the basis of her diminished responsibility at the time due to the strain she was under. When Wilson appeared for sentencing at the High Court in Dumbarton yesterday, judge Lady Rae said: “Mr Wilson suffered serious ill health both physically and mentally and it transpires he previously tried to commit suicide. “In addition, you had been confronted with distressing information about the husband you had lived with and loved for 50 years.” The judge said it was impossible to imagine the mental torment Wilson had been going through at the time she killed her husband and said it had clearly distorted her decision-making. Lady Rae added: “While recognising that in most cases such a crime would merit a very significant custodial sentence, I am prepared in the unusual and complex circumstances of this case to impose a non-custodial disposal. “There is no suggestion whatsoever that you are a risk to the public. I have come to the view therefore that punishment is not appropriate and having reached that conclusion I consider a community payback order is not justified nor is it required.” Sentence was deferred until January for good behaviour and for Wilson to continue receiving psychiatric treatment. Wilson had been a Labour councillor in Troon, South Ayrshire, in the late 1990s. The couple had three children but their eldest son Jonathan died in 2001 after battling cancer.
FAKE DONALD TRUMP TIME MAGAZINE COVER REMOVED FROM TRUMP TURNBERRY…. Staff at Trump golf courses in Scotland have been asked not to display a Time Magazine cover featuring the US President after it was confirmed to be a fake. The cover was framed and hung at a number of Trump courses in the US and Ireland as well as at Trump Turnberry in Ayrshire, according to the Washington Post. A member of staff at the Scottish resort told the newspaper the cover had been removed from the club’s Duel in the Sun Pub. READ MORE: Donald Trump’s son to open new Turnberry course The cover, which dates to March 1 2009, features an image of the Donald Trump with the headline “Donald Trump: The Apprentice is a television smash!” Time confirmed that the cover was a fake and said it had requested the Trump Organisation stops using it, according to reports.
