the pressure put on rasmus højlund is INSANE when u consider that he's my age and already accomplished way more than the average 20 year old. people need to learn to be kind to players. like... it's okay to want to win, but keep in mind that they're humans and not robots. they won't be perfect all the time
#i'm tired of seeing ppl hating on him all the time#just because he isn't scoring as much as ppl want doesn't make him a bad player#he has proven that he is talented in both the danish national team AND the ucl#people just put too much focus on the premier league like it's the most definitive test of skill when it's really not#anyways rant over#//#rasmus højlund#højlund#manchester united#football#soccer#man utd#man united

my lord seeing all the posts talking about not voting for joe biden like...
im not even gonna push my personal opinion. i just want people to take the time to earnestly reflect about what they're deciding to do
as in. just think "what is the impact of my decision?" think about what would come about if you voted for biden, or against biden, or third party, or (likely the most popular other option ppl want to pursue) didn't vote AT ALL.
then reflect on the actual issues that matter enough to sway your vote. think about palestine. think about queer liberation & disability advocacy. think about the writer's strike and the actors strike and unionizing. think about the environment. the fucking economy. basically anything that's defined the political landscape of the 2020s.
and then circle back to "what is the point of making this specific choice?" in regards to voting in the 2024 election. if you want to make any of these issues better, ask yourself if those changes will be easier to make under a trump administration or a biden administration. would trump be better for palestine than biden? the environment? the economy? even if he's worse than biden in a lot of areas, is there one special issue that could push him over the edge? what are you trying to accomplish with this vote (or lackthereof)?
the reason i felt compelled to lay it all out in this specific manner is quite simple. i want to emphasize something important.
i feel like a lot of people planning to protest their vote for Joe Biden see themselves as possessing a moral high ground with respect to our corrupt political system. by refusing to participate and play the game, you're avoiding complicity in a machine designed to grind people up and spit out their bodies for the sake of profit. i get it. i know exactly why you don't want to take part in something so horrible.
but you DO.
even if you don't want to. you are a part of this system.
withholding a vote isn't exempting you from anything. you are still making a decision. a decision that impacts your life, the lives of those around you, and of course the lives of people overseas caught up in our country's colonialist bullshit
i promise you nobody is keeping score. you won't get extra woke points in heaven because you didn't vote for someone who does bad things. say hypothetically we lived in a country like australia with compulsory voting, and protesting your vote was literally not an option. what would people say then? would the anti-genocide crowd encourage you to vote for trump? vote third party? do these choices make sense??
because at the end of the day, we have 2 choices. we can continue sucking ass. or we can bring in someone else to suck ass EVEN HARDER.
i'm not sure what i can say beyond this much. i get how easy it is to turn off your brain and rail against anyone challenging an opinion that, from your perspective, feels beyond the realm of criticism. these people do not have bad intentions. our brains can't think in terms of stupid political games. we see a man encouraging a genocide running for re-election, and the LAST thing we want to do is reward him.
but the system is illogical by design. (see electoral college for more info.) you can't make it make sense. these people in power aren't gonna buckle to your pressure based on morality or shame because they have none. they know exactly what the fuck is going on. they know what they're doing, and they're doing it on purpose.
if republicans can accept that holding your nose and playing the bs voting game can make the system work in their favor, why the fuck can't college educated socialists come to the same conclusion?
whatever you decide to do come november, just be honest about why you're doing it. whether it's about gaza or trans people or even just the prices of groceries always increasing, it doesn't matter. i know what change i want to see in the world, and i'm doing what i can to help move the needle in that direction.

i like dom, he is a sweetheart, but its true he didnt deliever what he was signed for. after hendo we wanted a midfielder who can score goals, who will have g/a. sadly, dom is not that guy. im not blaming him, neither is ale, although he is being played out of position
----------------------------------------
this type of comments give me the ick so bad hahaha when it refers to players that are new to a league like Domi. he is new to a completely different league with a team that has certain plans and strategies that he needs to adapt to, just like every other player lmao.
yeah, some players adapt faster than others, but i think that's what happens literally everywhere: some adapt faster to new environments than others lolol.
Mac Allister had been playing in the premier prior to getting to Liverpool yeah, but it's still a new team with new everything lol. he is slowly finding himself within the team's system and we can see that.
i think we cannot speak so surely about a player's performance so early on unless they have been complete and utter shit and have not delivered anything at all, those types of "failed" signings are very easy to spot early on. but yeah, at least give them a year and, in Domi's case, wait for him to come back from his injury too omg. i think even Mo has talked about how Domi is new to all of this and that he is still young so he has a lot to learn still and ppl should not put so much pressure on him.
yeah, ppl hyped him up a lot (even the media, because... its the media) and he might have leaned into that hype if that makes sense, but wouldn't you do it too? i would also feel like im on top of the world and use this hype to get more confident. but the pressure is bound to get too much esp. with someone new to the league.
so sorry for the long rant omg, ive been thinking about this for a while. i hope it all makes sense, im not a native english speaker.
i just want to finish off by saying: give him (them) time and let's give constructive criticism i beg (this is not for anon omg this is in general cause a lot of people love to talk shit instead of trying to help lmao)
Hi anon!
Don't you apologize for the rant, I really enjoyed reading it, especially because I wholeheartedly agree and couldn't have said it better myself! And as a non-native speaker I wouldn't have guessed that English isn't your first language if you don't mention it!
Essentially, I think Domi is a victim of his own early success. He literally hit the ground running and even that doesn't express fully how quickly he got so popular. It feels like a lifetime ago, but I remember how he got POTM for August, or his jersey sold the most at the start of the season. I even remember that like two months into the season there was some stupid 'who's your favourite lfc player' poll on twt and he got first place (??) and there was a complete meltdown over that lool.
So, for the first few months, he was everywhere, in the media, on social media, constantly praised, edited next to Stevie G, it was a LOT. Everyone was definitely doing too much, so when the inevitable happened and realism kicked in, some were quick to be loud with their criticism. Just like they say, the higher you get, the worse the fall will be. In my opinion, that's what happened.
I also feel like that because of his great start, people just completely forgot his original situation - that he's young, from a slower, less physically demanding league, with winter breaks, less game time, playing a completely new role, moving to a whole other country alone, knowing absolutely nobody etc, etc. Sure, everyone of our new signings got their fair share of criticism, but I do feel like there was also a level of patience with them, something that was/is a bit of lacking with Dominik. Endo and Grav were able to get slowly used to the Prem, getting their minutes managed, Dominik didn't. He was playing essentially the role of two players multiple times with all the red cards flying around in the first months and I say this comfortably, that many games were won thanks to his efforts.
This is how a team works, where players are fighting for each other and not just their own egos. He stepped up when Endo and Grav couldn't because of their fitness and when CuJo and Macca were sent off (..) or injured. And now, the others are doing the same thing. It's just recency bias that has people forming sometimes rather harsh opinions, I think.
GOSH, I do suffer from a very serious yapping disease. I could write literal essays on topics like this lol.

~ badboy!jungkook x smartass nerd!reader ~
genre/what to expect: e2l ft. sexual tension, college au
warnings: swearing, bad grades lmao
wordcount: around 1k
a/n: alr so although this idea might be incredibly overused, i will be using it anyway cuz this fic is v self indulgent lmao. also, this has been sitting in my drafts for like,,, almost a year now, so i just decided fuck it. if ppl like it, maybe ill turn it into a whole fic? idk lemme know what y’all think. but for now, i am not planning on prioritizing updates for this.
also random disclaimer: i don’t know a fuck ton about how korean college works so i’m basing this on the experience in my country. if i screwed somethin up please that’s totally different in korea correct me so i can fix it </3
college had really been a bore lately.
you had been berated by your high school teachers, claiming that "college is harder, professors don't care about you, you have to study," and whatever other bullshit they liked to spew. but unsurprisingly, college was never particularly difficult. and now, halfway through your junior year, you still don't even really bother studying. as long as you don't flunk out, why does it matter? just suck up to the profs a bit, and you're set. who gives a shit if you're a teachers pet when you're on track to graduating top of your class? you never really cared what others thought anyways.
there was only one catch: when you got bored, you tended to slack off. and now, you—top of your class poli sci major—currently has a c- in your behavioral econ course.
and that is certainly not acceptable.
"you know, you're one of the best students in my class. i'm very disappointed in your recent grades".
you force yourself to keep a serious look, and refrain from rolling your eyes while forcing a nod.
you plaster on an expression of false understanding and tell the professor, "i'm very sorry. i really do want to excel in this class," while bowing your head slightly.
he hums to himself, clearly contemplating something.
"just because i know how much effort you put into this class, i'll offer you an opportunity to earn extra credit," he says after what feels like an eternity. "i have a student in econ 101 that needs extra help. if you were to tutor him twice a week, and his scores were to improve significantly, then i'll raise your grade to an a".
you have to prevent yourself from smirking. it really does pay to be a suck-up.
"i'd love to!" you lie between your teeth, giving the poor professor your best faux smile. "i'm so thankful for this opportunity, and i'll work my hardest. thank you!"
well, you certainly dodged a bullet there. or you hoped. as long as the kid you're stuck tutoring isn't a little bitch, then you should have no problem securing your a.
the professor had emailed you the students contact information, and told you to set up meetings with them. all you knew was that his name is justin seagull or something, and he's completely flunking econ.
which, how do you even manage to do? that's like, the easiest class.
not that you're complaining; it works out all the better for you. and hey, maybe you can make a new friend!
earlier in the week, you had coordinated with the dude you're tutoring via email to meet on thursday at 3pm for an hour and a half, which so happens to be today. at around 2:45, during your long break in between classes, you head over to the agreed upon location for your first tutoring sesh: the undergrad library. at precisely 2:55, you take a seat at one of the benches near the entrance of the library, deciding to wait so you don't miss him.
even if you really didn't want to be stuck tutoring, you were still going to put in an effort; you really did want to help whoever needed it. just because you'd rather not spend your thursday afternoons teaching econ doesn't mean you wanted to screw the dude over and waste his time.
you pull out your phone and begin to mindlessly
scroll on instagram out of boredom.
at 3:04, you begin to wonder where he is, and if he's okay.
at 3:11, you start to get a little annoyed, but you try to remind yourself that maybe he got held up somewhere, or somethings wrong.
at 3:32, you shoot him a text.
at 3:57, still no response.
at 4:13, you say fuck it and decide to head home.
at 6 fucking pm, he has the audacity to send you a text.
jk: sorry. i was busy.
what could he have possibly been so busy with that he couldn't of even texted you beforehand, only god knows. all you know is that you're pissed. you had prepared a whole plan for this first session, made a list of important topics to cover, and even did research on the best ways to teach. all for you to be ignored, cast aside like you were unimportant.
you quickly shoot him a text back.
you: whatever it’s fine, let’s just schedule for another day
you: when works?
your phone dings.
jk: idk i have to check with my schedule
god, what a fucking asshole.
you swallow your pride as best as you can and type out a response.
you: well, lmk when you’re free ^-^
your phone dings after a moment.
jk: do we really have to do this?
jk: i mean idk abt you but i don’t really want to spend my time getting tutored
you roll your eyes and grit your teeth.
you: mm that kinda sucks for you but yea we do have to
you: so like i said, when works?
and you know what he fucking does??
he fucking leaves you on read.
that asshole.
you take a deep breath and attempt to calm down before all hell is let loose.

Personal recap GPF 2019 - Men SP
Salty recap ahead...beware...and seeing it live actually made my temper much worse...
First that reaction GIF goes to the judges who gave Nathan Chen 110 points!
Yeah I am mad at the judges. I am not surprised though...sadly I saw that coming his PCS have been increasing season after season and now he received same PCS as Yuzu, which is just bogus. Does the 0.08 difference really count for Yuzu as "win PCS"? The level of Yuzu's and Nathan's skating is miles apart. And by miles I mean different from a different planet.
I am so sorry that really isn't against Nathan personally. Nathan deserved to win the SP that is for sure. Technically speaking he was the best. Still my feels are indifferent...
I have seen Nathan a couple of times live now and even though I really want to connect to his skating, it never touches me at all. He is such a down-to-earth, such a humble person and just from his interviews I can connect to him, but not to his skating. I admire his attitude towards the other skaters and I admire that he always delivers when it counts. But I cannot say anything really complementary about his skating. It feels rough and the movements fit the music but he seems so disconnected to the music. It's not jump after jump in the SP, but still like studied movements. Nothing comes natural. It bothers me and one thing also bothers me: Nathan's costumes. At this point I should be used to Nathan and his non-costumes, but this one really looks like a pyjama 🤣🤣🤣
But here you can see the wonderful attitude from Nathan. That deserves applaus. 👏
Also what Nathan said about Yuzu brings me close to tears. He is really such a sweetheart. 😍
Yuzu is just wow to watch! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
He connects with his music in the first note and for me personally that was the most intense he ever skated to Otonal. He made a very costly mistake, but that didn't interrupt his connection to the program at all. I was getting so emo to see him so disappointed and how he got off the ice so alone. Why was he alone in the Kiss&Cry??? 😭😭😭😭 (after Shoma alone in the K&C I really couldn't handle Yuzu on his own😭😭😭😭💔)
In the press con Yuzu said Ghislain was supposed to be there, but didn't make it to Italy, because he had problems to get in. Only one coach was accredited. So Yuzu ended up alone. 😭😭😭😭 (x) Why him? Why Team Japan? I mean Boyang had two coaches with him? Eteri girls are able to bring 3 coaches, isn't that a bit unfair to those who don't have more skaters from one coach? Really something behind the scenes is wrong...now comes a little excursion in speculation...I think the ppl behind the scenes (ISU, feds etc.) aren't all that happy that Yuzu is still there. They have scored him iffy and the thing with the coaches is also shady...
Poor Yuzu, back in the GPF and nothing worked in his favor...
It's not that I think Yuzu's score was unjustified, just that Nathan's score was inflated as hell. I mean when Nathan can score 110 with this, I don't see why Kevin who was also clean didn't get 💯?
The Pooh rain is really something different to encounter. All the fans is really cool. The loudest noise is for Yuzu. Also I got a clear file and a banner from the fans. So sweet of the ladies. 😊
Even if today wasn't what I had hoped for:
Yuzu did a stunning performance and I love every second that I see him skate. I cannot take my eyes off him one moment! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I cheer for you with all my heart! ❤️
Kevin Aymoz impressed me again like at IdF. He is really stunning to watch. 😍He is of different style than any other men. And he does cool movements all the time. Super skate. The music thing got him visibly annoyed, impressive that he could shake it up that easily.
I feel so sorry for Boyang Jin. Everyone knows his 4Lz is the best in the world. But today that didn't happen. His combo wasn't perfect either, so I understand his low TES. But really what does this guy need to do to get better PCS? He got the lowest PCS of the 6? He is not worse than Samarin or Aliev, not even Nathan. The difference is his passport. I bet if he would be Russian or American he could have as many PCS as them. 😠 Sure he also had bad day, but even on a clean day Boyang scored 100 at best with two quads. No that's not fair...Boyang has a beautiful music, he feels the music much better, the costume matches his gold blades, the program is put together with much thought to highlight what he has learned in the past years, but it's never bearing fruit score wise.
Dmitri Aliev - well that was not a total blow, but it wasn't great either. Some things worked, some things didn't...the jumps were borderline at best...he didn't receive much + for it, so that's ok. He visibly fell out of one of his steps in the StSq. I think he likes the program, but he is too concentrated and the program feels forced. A bit too much theatre and a bit too forced drama.
Alexander Samarin - well it would feel weird to exclude him from my recap, but everyone knows I am not fond of Samarin at all. And today I have to say...I liked him less than ever...he improved a lot compared to 2 years ago when I first saw him live, but that doesn't change that all that there is about him is the jumps. And today they were awful. He should be last and his scores were even generous. He landed the 4Lz in my corner and that wasn't fully rotated...and to see the puzzled look on his face like "why is the score so low" didn't make me like him on a personal level. I don't wish him bad or anything...and I am not saying more or it gets mean...judges are at fault for scoring not the skaters...I admit some dislike is because of the judging...
I wish all the best for the FS! May the judging be fair and in favor for everyone. And pls let someone sit with Yuzu.🙏🙏🙏
