Artsy Update :)

Hi everyone, it has been a while since I posted. I've been incredibly busy with a few high-demand projects for which deadlines are approaching swiftly.... *send help please* However! I did continue the Valentine's Day couple series. Here are the final three sketches I did:

Hinny, Jegulily and Jegulus <3 I have to say that while I enjoyed doing these sketches, this style is not exactly my thing :) I love doing character line-ups and story illustrations more, but trying different poses and practising new colour combinations was a lot of fun. I had a blast :) I'm sorry if your favourite ship hasn't been drawn. I could only do a few in the time I had. But there's always next year! <3<3<3 As for the other things taking up my time at the moment... I have a big deadline for a picture book I'm working on. Only five more weeks to finish. When April comes, I'll (hopefully) be done with it and then I'm taking a teeny tiny holiday to rest and gather energy for new projects! I might actually leave the house for that... :)

The other big thing was my first art market of the year! I had a stand at Fantasy Fest in the Netherlands last weekend. I prepared a lot for it, making new prints and stickers and even creating some brand-new artwork :) The result was a booth filled with colourful goodies! I sold a little less than I had hoped for during the weekend, but I did have a lot of great conversations and managed to put a smile on people's faces with my art. And that is the most special thing in the world <3

I loved my little booth. The lighting was great and I had some lovely neighbors with whom I chatted all weekend. My mum also came to help for a day and she stood in front of the booth to play the very convincing 'interested customer', drawing in some more curious onlookers :) I love her, she is my number 1 supporter <3

Now, these are some of the new (and older) products I designed for this fair:

This is the Fantasy Characters collection: a series of 12 fantasy characters in a cool set! I made these specially for the fair and had so much fun with them. I picked out a nice paper, got to design a cool border to tie the whole thing together and even wrapping the sets in a colourful label was so so fun to do! I will definitely do more projects like this in the future. It's the best!

I created a bunch of prints from some of my traditional artworks. Most of them come from the book of fairytales I illustrated last year. They were a hit! Especially the map. That one was my bestseller :)

And of course, I had to add fanart, too. I sold a couple of Marauders band posters. That made my day. It was so cool to meet fellow fans :) (All of these are available in my shop, by the way, in case you're interested :)) Last, but not least: I made STICKERS! In January, I bought a Cricut machine for the first time and after postponing for a month to learn how to make it work, I managed to create these sticker packs:

They are my favourite new creation. It's so cool to be able to make my own stickers! I have four sets: Toads and Toadstools, Owls, Ollivander's Wand Shop and the Stars and Moons doodle sheet.

The little stickers are super fun to fill in empty spaces in your journal and the big ones are a showstopper for any surface. I already stuck a bunch of them on my planner, phone and sketchbooks... I have no shame. This is the best thing I ever made :)

I had a lot of fun!

I am looking forward to more cool art in the near future. I have one more project to finish. A picture book that has been a rollercoaster and not in a good way... I'll be happy when I've got my work done on that. It's still going to be a lovely book, it was just the publishing house that I had some trouble with. @lmklongnu25 - I met Longnu in the same server as Rip, she's so sweet and all! I was able to watch her art and oc's grow!! she's like a lil sib to me, I always love our conversations and the way we bounce ideas off of one another!!

@littlethingsrae - AMAZING ART, AMAZING OCS, AMAZING LORE, She's one of the friends I see as simply 'Ma', I call her that a lot! We talked a whole lot, yapped a whole lot, she's a WONDERFUL PERSON!! They're awesome, I miss our yaps, I grieve timezones man </3

you two clicked from that point on. afterwards, you were always around each other.

he trusted you with his whole heart and you trusted him as well.

miles is genuinely so smitten with you, it's adorable.

everyone who knows him also knows you. whether they'd like to or not.

i imagine him finding out about his feelings most likely happened when he was rambling to you one day about whatever crossed his mind that week. he's ranting and he just looks over at you and actually freezes.

you two are like cuddled up in his bed and your head is like rested on his shoulder as you drfit in and out of sleep.

yeah... he realizes his feelings real quick.

she pretty much visits that shop every other day from that day on and the one instance she does talk to you formerly is only a result of peter dragging her over to you. she stumbles over her words a lot but reluctantly is able to invite you to her band's concert.

so giddy when you agree to show up.

needless to say she spent way too much time practicing on the drums that week, much to her father's avail.

when the night of the concert comes she's trying her best to be better than she normally is, sneaking glances at your facial expressions in the crowd.

it eased her to see you were extremely invested in every part of the song, wonder in your eyes as you stared up at her on the drums.

you two become good friends from there and you even helped her work through her trauma with peter's death.

it takes MONTHS for the two of you to confess and even when it actually happens, gwen isn't the one to do so. you beat her to the punch, confessing that you were starting to really like her.

she was so surprised by the confession she lost her train of thought, causing you to panic slightly from her complete silence.

she's even more embarrassed by the fact she just shut down.

he originally got introduced to you when he invited to join the spider society.

you stood out to him for some reason. he wasn't even sure why.

all he knew was that he couldn't stop himself from looking everywhere for you whenever he had free time. attempting to learn more about you.

you rejected his advances most of the time, shutting him down with a "maybe later" or "haha, keep dreaming, hobie."

that didn't discourage him, though.

he decided on inviting you out with him one night for a few drinks with his friends and the alcohol really allowed you to loosen up a bit.

he got to know a lot about you and it sadly only made him want you even more.

you two become good friends over the course of a few months.

you poured your heart out to him and he confided in you as well. the two of you were basically dating, despite it not being declared.

when hobie did confess his feelings to you, it was in the most surprising way ever. he was spending the night at your place and you two were cooking together.

well, he couldn't cook. you were teaching him how to.

music was playing in the background as you two chatted and jokes about random things that happened that week. it was nice.

so nice that hobie felt the need to confess to you more than ever.

you were on the couch, watching a movie together when hobie paused the tv and turned to you with a genuine smile. you looked back at him in confusion, an amused look painting your face as you mumbled out a small "what?"

where do i start with this guy.

he was originally assigned to tutor you in math due to your dropping grades. you were embarrassed by the fact you needed a tutor but he reassured you anyways.

you weren't a very talkative person whenever you two did work together which only led him to be more interested in you.

he told himself the only reason you were crossing his mind was because he was gravely concerned about your math final, but, it wasn't true at all.

the truth? he had actually taken a liken to you.

you were smart, witty and extremely kind. how could he not??

at the end of your usual session, he'd chased after you, sputtering out something about a gas station nearby with good slushies as he hoped you just agree to go.

to his surprise, you did!

pavitr made it his mission to make sure you had maximum fun capable with him. he needed you to know how fun he could be, just so you'd at least reconsider hanging out with him again.

thankfully the plan works and the two of you begin to hang out regularly after every study session.

funnily enough, you two only got together because of his spidey duties.

he was watching you intently from a building to make sure you were getting home safely, texting you at the same time when you're approached by a couple of not-so friendly looking men.

they're grappling you and attempting to shake you down for money when pav springs into action, sweeping the floor with them with ease.

he consoles you on the attack, a bit too much. a relieved sigh leaving him when you confirm that you're okay. he just about to leave when you stop him, calling out a small "Spider-man?" that instantly catches his attention.

he turns to you with a confused expression, stiffening when you moved closer to him.

your hand rested against his chest as you angled your head up, inching his mask up.

he rested his hands on yours, mumbling out a "Wait." that fell on deaf ears as you pulled the mask up further, leaving it bunched up just above the start of his nose.

you analyzed his face silently and pav felt nervous under your analytical gaze.

he almost outwardly screamed when you inched closer to his face, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.

he literally froze. does he do something? should he touch you somewhere? is appropriate for him to do that??

you broke the kiss, pulling back with a small smile on your face. and while pav was dazed and happy you'd kissed him, the reality that he was spider-man right now sank in.

his thoughts were cut short when you cleared your throat.

"i like you, pavitr." you paused. "and i know it's you under there."

oh shit. you didn't like spider-man, you liked..him?!

• she’s a dance major and years of training and performing from early childhood is what made her so confident in social settings. but her program can be very physically demanding, which is why she usually skips out on parties and treasures her sleep

• she’s the middle child between a big sister and little brother. out of everyone, she’s most compatible with her dad, but she deeply loves her parents and her siblings

• she’s usually the mediator in familial conflicts and because it has led to her frequently being overlooked, she holds back on sharing difficult/negative feelings with her family

• she would’ve been every teacher’s favorite if she wasn’t so chatty. she got the ‘distracts others in class’ note in her report cards a lot. nonetheless, she was raised to respect authority, which is why she’s a bit of a goody-goody who’s very wary of breaking rules

• she almost always has chapstick on and it’s usually fruit-scented (and whenever rafe smells it, he crashes out because all he can imagine is tasting it when he kisses her)

The return of doodle dumps!! We got a RANGE of goodies here but kinda divided between The Killian page and The Lucy page (my two FAVORITE REDHEADS!)

I havent been able to finish a lot of stuff/concepts and render out sketches lately but this should be good enough for now!

There is a concept floating around about Chimera and Lucy dragging him around with them in this form for ✨Ladies Night✨. My gut says that he's stuck like that temporarily and I don't know if they caused it JUST for this one girl's night but they're taking advantage you best BELEIVE

Killian has been the blorbo in the golden frame above my fireplace recently lol. He is squirreled away in my heart and in my soul.

Now he doesn't actually NEED an accursed blade because he hardly fights with generic weapons as it is (just fisticuffs, magic and broken bottles baby), but I found a cool piece of armor for him, so it seemed fitting.

AND LUCYYYY!!! She is right next to kills in her own frame above the hearth, I adore this girl, hope nothing bad happens to her 🙃

Cowboy Lucy is actually from a little mini story I'm brainstorming as a piece for a little mini-series that I'm calling: "Jack and Lucy's Big 'ol Time Adventure Mindfuck"

And tired ass totally-done-with-your-shit college student Lucy is a whole MOOD. She took a gap year after high school and then went for her bachelors or master's in psychology.

But what she DOESNT have the time nor energy for is her most annoying friend calling her up for the most PETTY shit DURRING FINALS WEEK! Its only during finals crunch time that she really flips a switch and starts getting spicy with people, any other time in the school year she's peaches and keen.

And Chimera, poor little meow meow. Young Chimera, probably maybe a year or two old here? So young, already been through SO much shit (also need to get my ass in gear about writing THAT one. She gets to stick it to her fucking abuser and it RULES)

And I think that scar around her neck is staying! Well see as time passes but I like the story it has. Maybe she covers it up with makeup or a glamor or soemthing idk.

And Tesoro/Stella thoughts are taking my brain hostage once again; so I have lots to share!

So I got into the show/comic book Invincible while I was away and all I can say is you need to read that god damn comic/watch that show. I read it all in a month and then met the comic book artist at NYCC back in October and I basically threw my money at him (Artist is Ryan Ottley, for those who are curious).

Point being is that I’ve taken massive inspiration from his art, it’s just so good, I wanna eat it; absorb it. The way he draws poses, teeth, expressions, and gore are unparalleled. It has so much life and dimension! I’ve been particularly caught up with how he draws teeth and how much it adds to his expressions, so I’m deciding to implement it into my own style! Been doing a lot of practice with it on Tesoro recently.

Also got some new sketchbooks and markers and am dabbling more in traditional media again.

Also got a little art notebook so I can occupy myself while at work!

I also have a ton of cute Tesoro/Stella interactions that I’ve sketched out in the last day or two; their happiness makes me happy ☺️

I believe this was from back in March, just a Tesoro doodle page (bottom left corner: he doesn’t like your music taste).

Last two: dynamic posing! Not very fond of the left one, need to tweak it a bit, and the right one? All that needs to be said is that there is a special place in hell for that flamingo bastard.

Getting new paints, and some part of my brain is just like "paint best butler, paint best butler-"

But art hard ;-;

NEW PAINTS AAAAAAAAAA!!! That sounds so fun, looking for new art supplies feels like you are running around in a goodie shop. (*¯︶¯*) ♡

I want to work my way towards making more traditional art again too, some mediums can feel really daunting! (When I participated in Art Fight this year I did all of my lineart / drawings traditionally so I could practice inking again!)

AHHHH THAT IS SO SWEET! And hey! It doesn't hurt to try! I am trying to get more of that mindset in myself! Just because something is daunting doesn't mean that doing it will be bad! You'll learn a lot along the way by taking that jump and going into it! = D It may not end up being your favorite piece at the end, but it is one step on your learning path and those steps add up!

I feel really, really, REAAAALLY nervous with backgrounds. But learning to work through that fear of failure gives way to the want to grow and learn. Also stepping back from the drawing board to gather reference helps SO MUCH! Highly reccomend it if you feel stuck and unable to think of ideas! Or if you're struggling to draw something!

Also I have found that doing characters studies help you grow too! = D Don't dismiss the power of the doodle! You don't have to dive in right away on a big project, you can take your time and do sketches and play with colors. That's important too!

There's absolutely no shame in being nervous, and you're right! Art IS hard! There have been many times when I wanted to curl up and quit! It can also be a very satisfying experience where when things finally click, that sense of accomplishment is priceless.

But right now, paint what you want! Don't worry about it being good, that comes with a lot of time and many many many hours. Just focus on making things that make you happy, and when you draw what makes you happy you'll want to keep drawing! ^-^ )

Same with writing, music, any creative skill in my humble opinion? Doing the things you love keeps pushing your forward, because you love it!

It almost feels like this year in particular has been hard to find any spark to do art at all. I did a half hearted doodle I think in feb and then didn't draw or sketch AT ALL for the entire rest of the year til a few days ago where I fully slammed down a 3D leopard Seal (with a saddle and extra goodies on it) just for fun because I saw an interesting post on tumblr about them and felt like making one for a future ARK project.

Last year I didn't have creative spoons til like august, and before that I hadn't drawn anything since 2020! It almost feels like all the spoons fell on the floor and I'm just not picking them up quickly anymore

13. What’s your oc’s dream home like? For Ahuska

Ooooh, good question, and one that definitely doesn't have a straightforward answer! Ahuska, in all her iterations, has roamed a lot (moreso out of necessity than choice), and while she always dreams of a place to be attached to, and has dozens of visions of what that place might be, she also actually struggles a great deal with the notion of settling in one spot for the rest of her life.

When she was a wee little bothan working as a stablehand on a Dxun ranch, she used to imagine having a vast property that she could fill with countless animal friends- the house itself was incidental, and not at all as important as the land. She still does entertain thoughts of a sanctuary from time to time, but knows that the commitment that would involve is something she's not ready for, if ever.

She loves the idea of a cabin in the mountains (and owned such a cabin in her au), and has also sketched out designs for an ornate treehouse in deep woods- but she also named Crow's ship Home when she moved in properly, and definitely grew accustomed to the idea of 'home' being simply wherever she happened to be, defined more by the company than the place. Inevitably, every place she's come to love has wound up being lost to her, one way or another, and even with the chance to actually build something permanent dangled under her nose she's found herself withdrawing from the idea. Being a perpetual visitor feels much easier to contemplate than being pinned down. Part of that is probably wanderlust, but constantly having her life upended has also taken its toll on her visions of the future- the only thing she could say for absolute certain is that she never wants to be too far from the wild for too long.
