There’s only one Geoffrey sketch for me to post on this special day, a sketch of the role I love above all his others, the performance that drove me into a different leg of the trousers of time: it’s Francis Walsingham from Elizabeth (1998), of course! (One of my fellow Rushies referred to me as “walsie girl” once and it stuck - or I adopted it!)

I still have so much love for this character, for this performance, and I think the thing I love the most is that Geoffrey Rush “got it”, too - he understood and appreciated when someone valued his work and bounced off it. And I can never thank him enough for it. Happy 70th birthday Geoffrey Rush and thank you for giving me Walsingham who has lived rent-free in my head since 2005 and is still proving to be an artistic muse and gives me so much joy. And thank you for being so wonderful to me and so many of your other fans: for signing things off as “Walsie”, for calling me “Spymaster” or “HRH”, for making time for any and all of us when we chased you across country or the world, and for, all-in-all, making me and many others insanely grateful and happy. It is not forgotten.

1. Who makes the first move and how?

Juto makes the first move by forcing Riou to come to his house and learn how to cook ‘real food’ (or so he calls it). Juto is convinced that he can teach Riou how to make something good and since Juto always cooks high class meals easily, he wants Riou to have a more refined taste palate. It ends up being a sort of date and they eat the food together afterwards~

5. Who says ‘I love you’ first?

Although Juto says a lot with his actions, it’s actually Riou who says ‘I love you’ first. Juto is stunned for a few seconds but then breaks into a soft smile and says ‘Obviously’~

Right sooo. You know how some sith names were words that just has "in" taken off of the front but conveniently reflect what they did...E.g. Darth Sidious > Insidious > subtle manipulator, Darth Vader > Invader > Invaded the temple

Well I spent a silly amount of time coming up with Luke and Leia's based on the word meanings and what actually sounded cool.

Luke = Darth Umbrate or Darth Jurious

Inumbrate meaning to cast into darkness given he was their hope. Injurious meaning to cause harm to the jedi because his actions would have essentially doomed them.

Leia = Darth Nocuous or Darth Heratrix

Innocuous meaning she was unexpected and the defeat they never saw coming. Inheratrix meaning that she was the inheritor of her father's goal.

Ohhhhhh very interesting!!!!!! I like the sound of Darth Jurious, and Darth Heratrix 👀👀👀

based on the excellent idea that Jar Jar Binks was always an undercover agent of the Sith working in partnership with Palpatine, I have been trying to think of what his Sith name oughtta be. Given Sidious and Vader, it would be kind of nice if his name also worked as a word with the prefix in- (Maul's name doesn't fit this pattern but I kind of like that as an implication that he was just kind of a placeholder/goon and Sidious didn't think of him as really part of a lineage) but the problem with that is everything appropriate I can think of sounds daft with the in- removed

Yes I wimped out drawing the accordion because I don’t have that much patience or time right now. I think this sketch is better up close, I’m still not quite nailing it but it’s all good practice.
