We camped at Juniper Campground in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota on a beautiful mid summer adventure. Our second morning there, before the sun arose in the east, animals had walked through our campsite, between our tents and around the picnic tables. A quick peak out of our tent revealed the visitors..... Texas Longhorn cattle and wild Bison! When they left and headed towards the Little Missouri River, I snuck out of our camping area and chose a round-a-bout trail to the river. There, I witnessed not only the early morning visitors, but families of mule deer, watering in silence. It was a peaceful scene, and one I don't suppose I'll ever see again! Later in the day, we were married there, at our campsite. I don't think the badlands can get any more special than that!! Murphy just could not handle being tired up all weekend so I felt bad for him and took him in the tent and we had some time off leash. He got to have his bone and felt much better. You maybe can’t tell but I put up some twinkle lights in the tent! Cameron and tabby and I went on a short hike on Caprock Coulee while Bear had to stay behind with the dogs (Lillie was bitterly disappointed she couldn’t hike in her beloved badlands - she was raised hiking in Makoshika SP.) The views were great! And we had fun.
