So actually some of the past Exo tracks aren't for me, but this album is really sooooolid, it's definitely cohesive sonically, the r&b undertones, THE FUCKING HARMONIES HELLOOOOO EARGASM! But also thematically it's definitely an album made for horny people lmaoooo. I'd have to give it more listens to establish which songs stopd out to me the most, but so far I think Regret It and Private Party are my faves!

Insu loves games. He’s been good at them for as long as he can remember, even if they’re based on simple luck. And so, when the cards are held out in front of him he doesn’t waste a single moment before pulling one from the deck.

He doesn’t know how to play the game which he has been invited to join but Insu is sure that this must be how you win. After all, he’s never one to be beat in a nice game of cards. He turns the card over in his hands, a smile on his face as he admires the delicate features of the picture printed on the card. He turns to ask the rules of the game but the individual who had offered him the cards has already disappeared. He must’ve won after all.

THE CARD FLUTTERS TO YOUR FEET. WHO WERE YOU BEFORE THIS STORY BEGAN?

Born and raised on the island, Park Insu’s life was set in stone before he even came to be. The son of a son of a son (so on) of a fisherman. The men in the Park family have been catching and selling for as long as anyone can remember. Of course, it was only natural that Insu would carry on the long standing tradition. He would be a fool to even think of doing anything else.

As a child, Insu spends his time at sea. His parents aren’t worried about him missing out on an education. After all, he is able to learn everything that he will ever need to know while he is working alongside his father. It’s an isolated upbringing. Insu doesn’t get the chance to be exposed to much other than what he learns from his family. And the Parks are very firm in their beliefs. Some people may think them strange. But they simply do what they believe is right in order to protect themselves and receive any blessings that they can from the strange otherworldly beings that they’ve instilled Insu’s belief in for his entire life.

Insu is a teenager when he finally tastes freedom for the first time. Although, his parents have done such a good job instilling their beliefs in him that he doesn’t dare stray far from all that they have taught him. But there’s one thing that nobody anticipated. They never believed that Insu would fall in love so fast. But he does, and the pair are still teenagers when they’re married. Insu is young and yet, his life already feels complete.

For a very long time, life was good. Things carried on exactly the way that the Park family had planned. The way that they had kept things for so many generations. Until Insu’s wife became entangled with REFRB (their worst nightmare). He was pressured to immediately cut all ties with her. Not wanting to disappoint his family, he quickly applies for a messy divorce. After all, the beliefs of his family will always come first.

I agree with you. I think iKON and BTOB being there is really...not good. iKON has been through so much in the last year and a half (?) and BTOB has been active for almost a decade long as opposed to the other half of Kingdom. Ateez {‘18}, SKZ {‘16}, SF9 {‘16}, and The Boyz {‘17} are all 4th gen; BTOB {‘12} & iKON {‘15} are 3rd gen. I already know who the “filler groups” are and that makes me upset. SF9 isn’t as popular as the other groups & BTOB is early 3rd gen so it’s been almost a decade since they debuted and that’s almost disrespectful. Not sure about iKON bc they’re still relevant but they’ve also been mostly absent for a while [until Kim Jiwon dropped Album of the Year💞💞].

Anyways, I hate Korean competition shows unless they’re like “wholesome” (like Masked Singer). But maybe that’s just because I’ve been traumatized by them [No Mercy, Stray Kids, Treasure Box, etc]😅

ikon has been through enough for a fucking lifetime. Since you touched on the topic of debut shows: I despise them. They put so much pressure on the idols and making them compete against friends/colleeagues is so toxic. Not to mention ikon’s which was the worst Ive ever seen. They had their first debut competition in WIN, where they were team B and they lost, so team A won and became WINNER and they got to debut. Then so they could debut they went through ANOTHER show and it was so so evil... Idk how much you know but basically in the 2nd debut competition they said that hanbin, bobby and jinhwan were safe, like they were going to debut, but then they introduced 3 new trainees (chanwoo was among them). And yg said it was going to be decided through voting, which meant that yunhyeong, junhoe and donghyuk could’ve easily been replaced by the trainees if they didn't please the crowd enough. Can you imagine how stressful it was to those 3? Having to work even harder because there was a chance they could be kicked out of the group they had been practicing and performing with for YEARS? I hate YG with every single cell in my body what he did to them was just plain trashy 

also yeah its kinda weird that they’re going, maybe its to promote bobby’s album of the year??

What a day, Hanbinnie!

So I wanted to quickly recap the biggest things that Hanbin’s bday left us, even tho we all know very well. Just to put it nice and orderly somewhere to remember, as it was really a rollercoaster that ended with a bang. 

1- The fandom’s worldwide campaign: the fandom was set on making this a special day for Hanbin, one to shower him with all the love and appreciation we know he deserves. So for months, the whole fandom was busy planning and organizing all kinds of things for his day. And we did it! There were tons of cupsleeve events, gatherings, gift and letter collects, ads, fundrising, charity, video greetings projects, multiple hashtags making top trending minutes into the day. The loudness of iKONICs this 22/10 was like nothing else.

2- His family business: both buldak and 5gam recieved iKONICs in their shops, creating mini events where fans could have a meal or spend time tgt and leave their gifts, letters and loving wishes for Hanbin. Buldak has all the gifts and merch signed by Hanbin for their respective owners to retrieve and 5gam decorated the place with balloons and played iKON’s music through the day, then posted on IG thanking konics for visiting and making it a “view-tiful” day (you know, for the newest perfume based on Hanbin’s likes)

3- Obang calling out to his beloved human: the cutest surprise, Obang posting on his IG fancams and pics of Hanbin with the caption “The person I miss”. We know the pup’s IG is managed by Donghyuk’s family, so you draw your own conclusions. But it was adorable. Later he’d be also joined by Bangdaeng, Junhoe’s puppy. She was a bit late, posting the day after, but it’s ok.

4- The fanmeeting crumbs: iKON was to hold a fanmeeting in Japan during Hanbin’s bday, (shitty move from YG) and we were honestly mentally preparing to get nothing from the boys this time because 1st, they don’t owe it to us to go public about this and 2nd because of YG and the negative press. BUT! They still made a move. Bobby kept silent and let Hanbin’s part roll on its own during Killing Me, Jinhwan (and Bobby) shouted “Happy birthday” during BDAY, which they don’t usually do; and then during Rhythm Ta they asked fans to be louder to be heard “all the way to Korea”. Don’t tell me this was unrelated to Hanbin, the kids know what they’re doing.

5- Donghyuk’s sweet IG story: the fanmeeting crumbs were enough for us, and we were already spazzing in glee about it when this kid posted an IG story with a single white flower an no captions. Not missing a beat, detetctkonics did their search and found out it was an Arrow Head, Hanbin’s birthday flower. And not only that, but it also could be interpreted as meaning trust. It was yet another hearthwarming message and the fandom was quick to bask in the happiness, and although sadly the story was later deleted for reasons unknown, Donghyuk made his point clear.

6- The Bobby incident: and then we came to the peak of the day, just as it was about to end and hit 00:00 back in the far east. We were already rolling in our happy gushing when Kim Jiwon, Kimbap extraordinaire, half the B of Double B, typo master of the peninsula, not only posted on his IG, but he did so with a fancam of Hanbin and the caption “Happy birthday, I miss you”.

But hold that hat, he had more. He then went to answer to his IG pal itsbizkitt, who had mixed him up with Hanbin, saying “lol dats my beloved brother (...)”

Soon after we had a piling list of people hitting like on this, from Donghyuk and Yunhyeong, to Jinhwan’s and Junhoe’s sisters, Yunhyeong’s cousin, multiple YG ex staff and current staff, even PSY! And then it was even reposted, by Bobby’s friend captioning “mood” and by iKON’s former stylist, saying it took her back to memories of good people (transaltion interpretations in place).

This broke the fandom in the best possible way, and ikonics were lightning fast to flood Bobby’s post with love and thankfulnes and hearts and crying emojis (because, hey, we miss Hanbin too) and flood twitter with our emotional spamming, even pushing Bobby, Donghyuk and BelovedHanbin into the trending tab.

Of course Bobby’s bold move also atracted backlash, as antis, haters, trolls and the likes were quick to demand of him that he delete the post or to question and pass judgment on his actions. But as of this moment, he seemes to have paid no heed to them as it’s all still there. 

There were also numerous articles written on this, and although I think it’s a cheap move from the press to try and use this to draw attention and make a big deal of it outside the fandom (just like they did when Junhoe unfollowed YG), we were pleasantly surprised when we found out that the feedback was in big part positive. Many people seem to understand that this is no one’s business to meddle in. Some even called out on the news sites intentions with the articles, especially those that had been so quick to spread slander or misleading info about Hanbin before, and even praised Bobby’s (and in some articles also Donghyuk’s) straighforwardnes.

Now, I do believe this was a statement. We know very well that Bobby could have done this privately by other means and leave it at that, but he chose to go public and post on IG. Why? For iKONICs? For Hanbin? For himself? For the rest of iKON? To encourgae others? To go against YG and those keeping them quiet? To show the GP and press that he didn’t care? I don’t know. We don’t know. Could be any, all or none of those reasons. Only he knows, but the message was sent, recieved and spread.

So yeah, this was a massive win for both iKONICs and iKON themselves. These kids are friendship goals, and we are immensely proud of them all.

7- An update on Hanbin: From the chinese Hanbin fanclub, a fan that went to buldak asked Hanbin’s uncle about him, and the uncle’s answer was that Hanbin is doing better, his mental health is improving and he is eating and resting well. And if this is not the best news we got this day, I don’t know what else to say. 

Things might keep rolling as we speak, but Hanbin’s day was succesfully closed with a pretty red bow and on a bright note. I hope he felt all the love that was sent to him on his day, that’s all we meant.

Summary: A rival gang has been causing trouble for Hanbin’s casino and when they kidnap Y/N for a diamond trade, Jinhwan is forced to go and get the job done. He gets help from the new one, Chanwoo and some unexpected help from Yunhyeong. 

Dim lights threw shadows across the big room at the casino floor. The only big light source was pointed at the stage at the other side of the room. Upbeat jazz music played to the three female singers on stage. The hustlers loved this kind of lighting in the game rooms, it made it easier to cheat their way to victory. Jinhwan stood by the entrance to the room, looking over everyone. He had been called in by their boss Hanbin.

Jinhwan made his way across the floor, but made a stop on the way there due to one of his friends. He was playing a round of some game.

“Better luck next time, boys” Donghyuk said as the guys around the table handed him their money and left for a different table. Jinhwan shook his head.

“Be careful, don’t scare everyone away in one evening, remember” but Donghyuk just smiled, he had been told this many times before but he knew what he was doing. He knew that losing for these people meant wanting a rematch, meaning they would come back again at some later time and Donghyuk would once again win. Jinhwan just let him be, after all, he was the one who made the most money for their boss on the casino floor, out of all the others in the gang, he was the most successful with the cards.

Two of the three singers on stage left and the lights changed once again to a single spot for the one left on the stage. A slow melody started playing and the female started singing. Jinhwan watched her in awe from the corner of the room. He was standing by the stairs which lead up to the 2nd floor where the boss had his office.

“Y/N is so beautiful,” he thought.

When the song was coming towards the end, Jinhwan remembered why he was there, he was not a guest at the casino who could walk around, have a drink by the bar and watch the performance on stage, he was there to do a job.

He fixed his tie before knocking on the door three times before he entered Hanbin’s office. The room was quite dark, not necessarily lacking of lighting, but the dark furnitures felt overwhelming for the overall feel to the room.

An unfamiliar figure was standing on Jinhwan’s side of Hanbin’s desk. The unfamiliar one turned around and faced Jinhwan.

“You’re here,” Hanbin said.

“Who’s this guy?” Jinhwan gestured to the so far unnamed man. He looked quite young, but at the same time, like someone who would be younger than they look.

“This is Chanwoo. He will be joining you for this next mission.” The boss explained. Chanwoo greeted Jinhwan with respect. Jinhwan placed his hands on his hips and sighed.

“What are we dealing with this time?” he asked and Hanbin clapped his hands together.

“I’m glad you ask!” he exclaimed knowing that Jinhwan obviously would want a break from work since the last mission, but there was no time to rest yet.

A rival gang had started fights and causing troubles all over town and recently they had started threatening Hanbin’s place, the gang and the employees. After losing a couple of games against Donghyuk, the leader of the rival gang started to get furious after they kept losing money. Hanbin had had enough of the silliness of this other gang trying to play them, it was time to put an end to it and show them who had been there for the longest and who were the best. Sadly, this is exactly what the boss of the rival gang had in mind as well. Gunshots were heard from downstairs, followed by screams and the music that had been playing in the background stopped.

“Shit! You did not-” Hanbin stormed out of the office and rushed downstairs having Jinhwan and Chanwoo follow him.

By the time they got down, people were spread all over the room, hiding under tables, behind the bar and curtains. The door to the casino floor closing was the only sound clearly heard in the room before the hum of voices started to grow again. Hanbin rushed over to the door where someone had left a note on a piece of paper. He picked it up and read it before turning around, walking back to the stairs and handing the note to Jinhwan.

The note read:

Until you give us what belongs to us, we took something else that might be valuable to one of the men working for you, Jinhwan. The name is Y/N. You have 24 hours.

Jinhwan stared at the note, wanting to burn it but knew he would need it since it also contained an address to somewhere he knew he needed to go. He took a deep breath before he put the note in his pocket.

“Come on, let’s go,” he gestured to Chanwoo that it was time to leave.

“What already? What are we gonna do?” Chanwoo asked.

“Wow it really is this this stereotypical like in the movies.” Chanwoo said in awe. Jinhwan didn’t reply or showed any sign of reaction to Chanwoo’s statement. He just started walking, it all happened so fast it was like he would end up walking in there with no plan and just think he could fix it, whereas anyone else would need some time to prepare something. Instead, he only asked Chanwoo if he had brought a gun. It was all just in case, but just that felt like half of the job was done.

“Chanwoo.” and that was all he said. One of the other members just looked at him, anticipating something more, but Jinhwan was done introducing the tall one standing behind him. The leader of the rival gang got up from his chair and walked closer to Jinhwan and Chanwoo, but still next to the other members of his gang.

“What brings you here? Was there nothing better to do at that fancy casino of yours so you had to come over here to bother us?” he said as if he was completely innocent for this kidnapping that had happened a little over thirty minutes ago.

“But I thought you invited me here?” Jinhwan pulled out the note from his pocket and threw it in front of the man facing him. The man chuckled.

“Oh the note, right. How could I forget?”

Jinhwan was shaking his head.

“It was handed to me thirty minutes ago, so you must have a bad short term memory, my friend.” For some reason Chanwoo felt embarrassed by this whole conversation but he tried his best to not let it show.

“Now,” Jinhwan started. “We don’t want any trouble, it’s quite late so it would be nice to just get this over with don’t you think?” he asked. The man agreed.

Chanwoo rolled his eyes, this was so boring. The only way to get them to stop talking and just get it done was with a little help. He was about to say something until he saw one of the rival members held his hand on his gun. Chanwoo was fast to draw, but the rivals were all holding their guns, pointing at Jinhwan and Chanwoo within milliseconds. The leader looked surprised and Jinhwan turned around.

“I have the stuff you told me to bring, Jinhwan,” Yunhyeong said. He placed the bag in front of them. The leader told one of the others to check the bag. He opened it and they all saw the diamonds inside. The man picked up the bag and the leader turned to one of the others and nodded, who then walked away and into a different room. Moments later, the man showed up again but not alone. He held a tight grip around your arms, pushing you in front of him.
