Back to the roots - we have lived on raft house over the River Kwai in the middle of the jungle, without any electricity and wifi for the last couple days. I have to say, that was one of the best experience I have ever made and I'm definitely gonna do it again! 🏞🛶☀️🎋 #saiyok #riverkwai #junglerafts #monvillage #kanchanaburi #thailand #southeastasia #travel #boat #backtotheroots #noelectricity #nowifi #nobackpack #nonamaste (at Mon Village Jungle Raft)

An experience to be remembered 😂 I booked the hotel without realising there's actually no electricity on the river hotel. Relying on the limited power bank supply for 3days, we survived!! Before leaving Bangkok I met up with a local family whose daughter stayed with a family friend. It was a nice change of pace as I got to see the market the Thai people go to and tried food I wouldn't have, nor did I have to deal with people constantly yelling at me to buy stuff. They then took me in a long tail boat through the canals of Bangkok which had some great sights (pictures only on actual camera). When our tour was finished they escorted to me to the bus station and thank god they did as it was not an easy task getting there and finding where I needed to go. I said goodbye and headed to Kanchanaburi where I would be staying on a floating bungalow. This was one of the main things I wanted to do while in Thailand. After arriving in Kanchanaburi I had to then find a very specific van to take me to a pier entrance about an hour away. When I arrived at the entrance they dropped me off and went to drive away. I was standing on the side of the road of rural Thailand and didn't feel to go good about it. I stopped the driver and he called for another van which eventually came and picked me up and drove me to the pier. Now I realize I was over reacting but for the 10 mins of just standing here I was definitely freaking out. To get to my raft I got to take the most amazing ride in a long tail boat down the River Kwai. I was surrounded my cliffs and the jungle, it pretty unreal view. I arrived to my raft which was quite nice, now electricity so rooms were rather dark. As excited as I was about the rafts I ended up being a little bored. They're very secluded and being alone there wasn't much to do, nor was it the place the meet people. I spent much of my time reading but did at one point cross over the river into the jungle to explore the Buddha cave and view point. After the rafts I was going to stay to in Kanchanaburi another two nights but decided to head back to Bangkok instead. I spent another day by the pool and exploring market.
