You're sitting in the coffee shop and a smooth jam comes on. You ask the barista "Are you playing That Ghost again?"
"No," she says. "This is Jungheim's new album. I think they're from Chicago."
I'm not a piece of the puzzle... Am I contributing to the roadkill? When will this be enough? When will I fit together? Is life supposed to be this tough on me?"

thank you for the tag @vishcount 💕
rules: tag 9 people you want to know better/catch up with.
favorite color: orange/yellow
last song/album: last song i listened to was Heavy by Sug Daniels, last full album i listened to was Songs That Piss Men Off by Jungheim
last movie: rewatched The Fall (2006) a couple nights ago cos it's one of my all time faves and also cos i've got the vaguest ideas of some kinda au forming for the mystic nine
currently reading: I've got a few chapters left of Acceptance by Jeff Vandermeer as I come to the close of my yearly re-read of the southern reach trilogy. also very slowly re-reading my fave manga of all time yokohama kaidashi kikou (again partly for dmbj au purposes). however the most recent thing i read was @s1utspeare's fic the play's the thing (which brough me SO MUCH joy)
currently watching: the mystic nine, as you've probably all noticed by my sudden onset of brainrot. also theaoretically watching psych hunter (i think i've got like 10 episodes left) but that got derailed by mystic nine lol
currently craving: something salty, maybe crisps
coffee or tea: i really like coffe but can't deal with too much caffeine so i drink tea way more
tagging @ghostyshades @nope4ever @gaiahenshin @ninbayphua @lojovski @ashenlights @thewindsofsong @justpostsyeet @bimingjue (no pressure ofc! i hope you all have excellent days)

hit me with some music recs pls i've been listening to sea shanties for so long mom told me i was singing them in my sleep ahasjkfhakfjh a change is needed
I would love to recommend some stuff! This is a really open-ended question, so I would love some more specific requests about what vibe/emotion/genre/style/etc. you’re looking for.
For now, I’ll start with what I’ve had on repeat this past week or so. You’ll find that the vast majority of the artists I’ve been listening to are trans because trans people are simply better at making music! ;)
This Might Be Healing by Jungheim Is an album that’s been described as “Acoustic Pop-Punk” but I honestly think that might be underselling it. It’s a really high-energy, emotive album with driving lyrics that keep the lo-fi acoustic sound exciting. The album is on most streaming services, and the version of the album on Bandcamp has three bonus covers that are really great. Jungheim is a Chicago-based trans musician and she made this album in only two months! My favorite track off the album is The Girls but I think your favorite will be her cover of The Middle.
Food House by Food House is a collaborative project from Gupi and Fraxiom. Fraxiom sang most of the vocals on the album, which touches on everything from being inspired by Sophie’s music to celebrating the death of Ronald Reagan. The album can be described as Hyperpop, but that descriptor is a nebulous genre at best. My favorite song is Metal. If you’ve already heard anything from this album it was probably Mos Thoser.
Grae by Moses Sumney has been on repeat for me near-constantly since the first iteration, Grae Vol. 1 was released almost exactly a year ago, and the second half of the double album was released last May. It’s a truly astounding album, and probably my runner-up for AOTY last year. It’s a star-studded album with contributions from artists such as Thundercat (another artist you should definitely check out btw). The album is an avant-garde art-pop masterpiece, and the prevalent theme of isolation was almost prophetic, considering it came out just as much of the U.S. went into lockdown. My favorite song is Cut Me.
I’m starting to doze off as I write this, tbh, so I’m gonna send this answer, but I’d love to give more recs or talk further tomorrow :)
p.s. I gave Spotify links to all of them because I know that’s what you use, but I always recommend buying from artists directly on Bandcamp to support them if possible! The last Friday of every month throughout the pandemic has been Bandcamp Friday, where Bandcamp gives 100% of the proceeds directly to the artist, so if you like any of my recs maybe buy the songs this Friday!
