LIFE GOES ON, UNLESS WHEN IT DOESN'T
YANDERE AHYEON X MALE READER
Tumblr media
The stage lights dimmed, signaling the end of another performance. Ahyeon bowed gracefully, her face glowing with the adoration of thousands of fans. She should have been on top of the world, yet when she stepped offstage, there was nothing but silence in her heart.
The life of a K-pop idol wasn’t what she imagined as a child. Sure, she had fame, fortune, and beauty, but something was missing—something she couldn’t name. Every night, she lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, haunted by a void she didn’t understand.
Years ago
“Ahyeon,” Y/n said, holding her pinky with his. “When we grow up, we’ll be together forever, okay? You’ll be a singer, and I’ll be your biggest fan.”
“Forever,” Ahyeon giggled, sealing the promise with a childish sincerity.
But that was a lifetime ago.
When her family moved to the city, Ahyeon left everything behind—her school, her friends, and most painfully, Y/n. At first, she missed him terribly. But as years passed, memories of him faded, replaced by rigorous training and the relentless pursuit of her dreams.
Y/n, however, never forgot.
He watched her rise to fame from afar, his heart breaking every time her face appeared on his screen. But he let her go. He knew he couldn’t hold her back from the world she was destined to conquer.
Present day
Ahyeon sighed as she wandered through the quiet streets of the city. She had a rare day off, and for once, she wanted to be anonymous, free from the cameras and fans.
A cozy café caught her eye, its warm lights glowing invitingly. The scent of freshly brewed coffee wafted out as she pushed open the door.
“Welcome,” a calm voice greeted her.
Her eyes landed on the barista behind the counter—a young man with a kind smile and familiar eyes. Something about him tugged at her memory, but she couldn’t quite place it.
“What can I get for you?” he asked, his voice soft but steady.
“Um... just a latte,” she stammered, caught off guard by his presence.
As he prepared her drink, she found herself staring, intrigued by the quiet confidence in his movements.
“Here you go,” he said, sliding the cup across the counter.
“Thanks,” she replied, her cheeks flushing as their fingers briefly brushed.
The café quickly became Ahyeon’s favorite spot. Every time she visited, her eyes sought out the barista, whose name tag read *Y/n.*
She didn’t think much of the name at first—after all, it was a common one. But the more time she spent there, the more she felt drawn to him.
One day, she worked up the courage to strike up a conversation.
“You’re always so calm,” she said as he handed her another latte. “Don’t you ever get tired?”
Y/n chuckled. “It’s all about finding balance. Life’s too short to rush through.”
His words resonated with her. Despite her success, Ahyeon often felt like she was running on a treadmill, never stopping to breathe.
“You’re wise,” she said, her voice softer.
“Not really,” he replied with a small smile. “I just learned to let go of things I can’t control.”
Over weeks, Ahyeon found herself visiting the café more often. She started timing her visits to match Y/n’s shifts, eager to see him.
“Back again?” Y/n teased one day as she walked in.
“What can I say? The coffee’s addictive,” she replied, though they both knew it wasn’t the coffee she was addicted to.
Y/n’s smile never wavered, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes—recognition, perhaps, or maybe a guarded sadness.
As the months passed, Ahyeon realized her feelings for Y/n were growing deeper. She thought about him constantly, her heart racing whenever she saw him. She started crafting reasons to stay longer at the café, just to be near him.
One evening, after the café closed, she lingered outside, waiting for him to leave. When he finally stepped out, she called his name.
“Y/n!”
He turned, surprised to see her standing there. “Ahyeon? What are you doing here?”
“I just... I wanted to thank you,” she said, her voice trembling. “For always being so kind. You’ve made me feel less alone.”
Y/n’s expression softened, but there was a flicker of unease. “I’m glad I could help,” he said. “But you don’t owe me anything.”
Ahyeon stepped closer, her eyes searching his. “I don’t know why, but... I feel like I’ve known you forever. Like you’re someone I’ve been searching for.”
Y/n froze, his mask slipping for a moment. The pain of years spent waiting for her, watching her from afar, threatened to overwhelm him. But he pushed it down, forcing a smile.
“You’re imagining things,” he said lightly. “I’m just a barista.”
But Ahyeon wasn’t convinced.
Her obsession grew stronger with each passing day. She started dreaming about him, replaying every interaction in her mind. The emptiness she had felt for so long was replaced by an all-consuming need to be near him.
One day, as she watched him from across the café, her heart ached with longing. She whispered to herself, "I can’t lose him. Not again.”
What she didn’t realize was that Y/n had been thinking the same thing.
Ahyeon pushed open the café door, her heart skipping a beat as she scanned the room. It was a routine now—come here, see Y/n, talk for a bit, and leave feeling lighter. He had become her anchor in a life of chaos.
But today, something was different.
Her eyes landed on him, laughing with a beautiful woman at the counter. The girl leaned in slightly, her laughter ringing like a melody. Y/n seemed relaxed, more animated than Ahyeon had ever seen him before.
A sharp pang stabbed at Ahyeon’s chest.
“What... is this feeling?” she muttered under her breath, gripping the small gift bag in her hand.
Anger bubbled up inside her, foreign and overwhelming. She didn’t like this. She didn’t like someone else making him laugh like that. Y/n was *hers.*
Without hesitation, she stormed over to the counter.
“Y/n!” she called, her voice a little too loud.
He turned, startled. “Ahyeon? You’re early today.”
The woman beside him glanced at Ahyeon, her smile polite but curious.
“I brought you something,” Ahyeon said, her tone sharp as she shoved the gift bag into his hands, completely ignoring the other girl.
“Uh, thanks,” Y/n replied, clearly caught off guard.
“Who’s this?” Ahyeon asked, her gaze fixed on the girl, her expression unreadable but her eyes dark.
“Oh, this is Hana. She’s—”
“I’m his friend,” Hana interjected with a friendly smile, extending her hand. “Nice to meet you.”
Ahyeon didn’t take the hand. Instead, she turned her attention back to Y/n.
“I need to talk to you,” she said, her voice leaving no room for argument.
“But—”
“Now,” she insisted, grabbing his arm and pulling him toward the staff room.
The door clicked shut behind them, and Y/n found himself cornered. Ahyeon stood in front of him, her presence overwhelming in the small space.
“Ahyeon, what’s going on?” he asked, trying to keep his tone steady despite the tension radiating from her.
She didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she stepped closer, her eyes burning with an intensity that made his stomach churn.
“That girl out there,” she said quietly, almost whispering. “You won’t see her again.”
Y/n blinked, confusion and alarm flickering across his face. “What are you talking about? She’s just a friend—”
“I don’t care who she is!” Ahyeon snapped, her voice breaking. “I don’t want you talking to her. Or anyone else.”
“Ahyeon, you’re being ridiculous. I—”
She cut him off by placing her hands on his shoulders, her grip firm, almost possessive.
“You don’t get it, do you?” she said, her voice softening but losing none of its intensity. “You’re mine, Y/n. I won’t let anyone else have you.”
Y/n froze, his mind reeling. “Yours? Ahyeon, I don’t know what you’re talking about. We barely even—”
“Don’t say that,” she interrupted, her voice trembling. “I’ve been coming here every day, thinking about you, needing you. And now I see you laughing with *her* like I don’t even exist?!”
“Ahyeon, calm down,” Y/n pleaded, his back pressing against the wall as she stepped even closer. “This isn’t like you.”
She let out a bitter laugh. “You don’t know what I’m like, Y/n. But you will.”
His eyes darted to the door, but she was too close, her presence suffocating.
“I’m your girlfriend now,” she declared, her tone final.
“What?” he stammered, his heart racing. “Ahyeon, you can’t just—”
“Yes, I can,” she interrupted, her eyes locking onto his with an almost predatory intensity. “You don’t understand yet, but you will. You’ll see how much I care about you. How much I’ve always cared.”
“Ahyeon, this is insane,” he said, trying to push past her, but she held her ground.
“Don’t call me insane,” she hissed, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. “I’m doing this for us. For *you.*”
His breath hitched as she leaned in closer, her expression softening but her grip still firm.
“I won’t let you go, Y/n,” she said, her voice barely audible. “Not again. Never again.”
For the first time, Y/n felt a chill run down his spine. The girl who had seemed so sweet, so harmless, was gone. In her place was someone he barely recognized—someone he wasn’t sure he could escape from.
Days turned into weeks, and Y/n found himself trapped in Ahyeon’s world. She came to the café every day without fail, her presence a storm he couldn’t escape.
“Y/n!” she called one morning, her voice bright as she walked in. She carried a bag of homemade treats, claiming they were just for him.
Before he could react, she wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. “You work so hard. I thought you might need a little energy boost.”
“Ahyeon, you don’t have to keep doing this,” he said, his voice strained. “It’s too much.”
“It’s never too much for you,” she replied sweetly, pulling back just enough to press a kiss to his cheek. “You’re worth it.”
Y/n’s coworkers whispered among themselves, giving him sympathetic looks, but no one dared intervene. They all saw the obsessive gleam in Ahyeon’s eyes and the way Y/n flinched under her touch.
One evening, after the café had closed, Ahyeon lingered as usual, waiting for Y/n to finish cleaning up.
“You don’t have to stay,” he said, his voice weary.
“I *want* to,” she insisted, sitting at a nearby table. “I like being with you. Don’t you like being with me?”
He hesitated, knowing any wrong answer would only make things worse. “It’s... fine.”
Her expression softened into something almost vulnerable. “You don’t get it, do you?” she said quietly. “You’re everything to me, Y/n. I’ve given you my heart. Why won’t you accept it?”
“Ahyeon, this isn’t healthy,” he said cautiously, taking a step back.
She stood abruptly, her eyes glistening with emotion. “Don’t say that,” she whispered, stepping closer. “Don’t push me away. You don’t know what it’s like to lose someone you love.”
Her words hit him like a punch to the gut. Before he could respond, she reached up and cupped his face, forcing him to look at her.
“Wait...” she murmured, her gaze searching his face. Something flickered in her expression—recognition.
“Your eyes...” she whispered. “Your voice... It’s you, isn’t it?”
Y/n froze, his blood running cold. “What are you talking about?”
“You’re the boy from my childhood,” she said, her voice trembling with realization. “The one I promised to marry. The one who said he’d always be there for me.”
“Ahyeon—”
“You’ve always loved me,” she interrupted, tears streaming down her face. “I see it now. You never left me. You were always waiting for me.”
He tried to pull away, but her grip tightened, her desperation spilling over.
“I won’t make the same mistake twice,” she said, her voice filled with both sorrow and determination. “I lost you once, but now I’ve found you again. And this time, I won’t let you go.”
Before he could protest, her lips crashed onto his, silencing any resistance. The kiss was fervent, unrelenting—a mixture of love, obsession, and a devotion that terrified him.
When she finally pulled back, she rested her forehead against his, her breath ragged.
“This is my love for you, Y/n,” she whispered. “I’ll give you everything. I’ll protect you, care for you, and make you happy. You don’t have to be alone anymore. You don’t have to run.”
His heart pounded as he stared into her tear-filled eyes. He wanted to push her away, to tell her she was wrong, but the weight of her devotion pressed down on him, suffocating and inescapable.
From that moment on, Ahyeon claimed him as her own. She visited the café daily, showering him with affection—hugs, kisses, and gifts. She introduced herself to his coworkers as his girlfriend, making it clear that Y/n belonged to her.
At first, Y/n resisted, but over time, her relentless love wore him down. He stopped fighting, accepting the chains of her devotion.
Ahyeon, on the other hand, was happier than she had ever been. She had found the missing piece in her life, the person who made her whole.
Late one night, as they sat together in the quiet of the closed café, Ahyeon rested her head on his shoulder, her fingers intertwined with his.
“You don’t need to be scared anymore,” she said softly. “I’ll take care of everything. All you have to do is love me back.”
He didn’t reply, his silence a bitter acceptance of his fate.
Ahyeon smiled, her heart brimming with satisfaction.
This was her devotion. This was her love.
And Y/n would never escape it.
