While not based on an actual video game, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is an amazing video game movie.
It manages to stand outside of the typical action movie, and has serval hilarious video game references that really make it stand out as a film. I original started watching it because it was recommended through my young sheldon/why women kill/grey’s anatomy YouTube shorts, and I was drawn in by Jack Black (I can’t help it I love Jack Black he is like a better Danny DeVito).
Now, I know I have been critical of Rock movies, I believe a lot of his movies have bad plots, weird morals, lack any quality themes, and place ass-kicking over plot. I also know, I love those movies. Action movies are cool as fuck and it’s fun to watch over choreographed fight sequences that make me believe anyone can do a cartwheel-kick-split-spin-punch. Jumanji is a great blend of the typical action movie with puzzles, and that problem solving/ violence is what makes me love video games too.
Yes, some of the puzzles are kind of silly, but while I was watching the movie I totally envisioned trying to play it as a video game. Especially during the scene where (spoilers) The Rock had to find a different way to reach the Jaguar so he had to take the path through the trees. Yes, at the end it became more action movie, but the awesome cutscenes, the annoying npcs, a cool villain that so many people would 100% cosplay, boss drum music, it’s all there. I really appreciated the bits that felt like I was in a video game like thinking you completed a level only to have to do one last thing, calculating if you have enough lives left, the thought put into the number of lives and the system. It really felt like there were actual stakes in the movie, like what if they just killed off Nick Jonas and didn’t bring him home? It felt like there was a good amount of though actually put into the writing and directing, I just really appreciated the vibes.
I know there’s most likely not a huge fan base for these movies, but I do feel like certain people who are turning video games into movies *cough cough* Nintendo *cough* that should really watch and take some notes on how this movie handles the video game feel.
#I kept referring the to the characters by their names#it was wild to watch Jack Black the Rock Nebuala and Nick Jonas adventure together#also the effects in this movie weren’t half bad#I lowkey forgot to check if it past the Bechtel test#did Jack black count as a girl? he did use she/her pronouns#Jack black teaching what is mean to be a girl was everything to me#he should have been in the barbie movie#nintendo#watch this movie#if you make the legend of Zelda movie dumb I’m going to be so mad#jumanji#jumanji welcome to the jungle#and why was it lowkey so funny#movie review#movie#review#the rock#I’m very drunk posting this so I’m so sorry if this makes no sense#alchol has been consumed in the making of this post

The new Little Mermaid movie is gonna be so bad but so good 🥲. As it’s own movie, it’ll be great, everyone will love it. As a live action version of the original little mermaid, it’s gonna be shit and everyone’s going to hate it.
It’s like the Jumanji movies, the original, a masterpiece, the so called sequel with The Rock? As it’s own movie it’s great, but it’s not Jumanji and I will never count it as a sequel, it is its own movie, just like this little mermaid is gonna be.
Anyways here’s a rant of what we know so far ♥️
Y’all can’t tell me not only did you make King Tritan a manwh*re and all his kids different ethnicities, but you renamed them. So fine, ignoring that all of his daughters have different mothers, why did you rename them? Like now you’re overcompensating on “inclusion”. It was one thing to cast Halle Bailey, I love her and her acting, her voice is amazing, but if they did a live action of The Princess and The Frog and cast someone like Blake Lively or Anna Kendrick as Tiana? That wouldn’t be considered inclusion. Why do black actors and actress have to settle for being an after thought and getting the leftovers of white characters? Why not create new characters of colour? We still only have one black princess, so let’s be real, they’re not being inclusive, they’re just trying to make it look like they are.
They say this is a live action remake, and just like Mulan, it’s not. It’s a whole new movie. The live actions of Cinderella, and Beauty and The Beast, stuck to the original movie, those were live action remakes. Aladdin was close, but they still changed the story quite a bit.

Jumanji: The Next Level 2019
When I watched the first movie I knew there was a sequel but I wasn't sure how they'd finagle the players into going again, and if there was new 'players' the 'characters' they'd be would have completely different characters which, isn't usually want in movies especially sequels. However that's what they do, every player is a different character now, the nerdy boy is an asian women now which is fine because its ok to have someone act white. however they have the one black player of the first movie be Jack Black in the sequel (the black character has the second black player), so y'know it's probably a good followup that they had jack black act like a woman in the first movie and a black man in the second, also there's a brief bodyswap with the "Berry of Jumanji" so they have the female character I don't remember the name of act black too which is, a choice. also they have another female player be a horse which is a rare actually funny choice in this one. Also the rock plays a confused old man which is kind of a good choice. They bring back the pilot guy which didn't feel needed, and they do a completely undeserved body-swap scene that I guess was meant to be cool? everyone's back to the character they used to be! awesome! it's completely undeserved, and it leaves the old black guy stuck as a horse, wouldn't be a problem if they didn't bring back seaplane guy. Also he stays in Jumanji forever as a flying horse because he's old and sick or something so he's just a horse forever??
The movie doesn't even take place in a jungle it starts in a desert and they go further north to snowy areas, because there's a new villain, some nordic guy who, you'll never believe it, pillaged Jumanji which definitely isn't Africa and stole a Jewel. not even a returning character from the original movie like Van Pelt was it's just, a new guy no one cares about. The movie is almost entirely CGI I'm pretty sure, flat backgrounds fake looking animals, the costumes might be real at least.
No jokes in this movie landed.
Final Review: yeah this ones bad too, probably even worse. don't watch it

Jumanji (1995) dir. Joe Johnston. 7.8/10
I would recommend this movie to my friends. I would rewatch this movie.
This movie is so good. Peter getting the game from the water is good. Carl's a great character.
Peter monkey crying is so cute.
Wow, seeing this cast really takes me back to my childhood.
Kiersten Dunst is a child here. Her character is kinda wild though because of her lying. Also, her price check line is gold. Lmao at her expression when Alan and Sarah are having a moment. Van Pelt screaming in the boat is gold. Alan trying to blow the spiders away is soooo funny.
Poor Sarah Whittle all these years.
Uh uh I would not be having it with these spiders.

Movie Night!
Movie night with the bad batch!!!
Honestly I’ve been having so much fun writing these little drabbles. If you have any suggestions let me know. If the writing is a little rough feel free to leave comments - if it’s grammar oriented sorry I’m not changing I’ve always been bad at it 🤷🏼♀️
Summary: it’s movie night with the batch!
Pairings: hunter/reader, wrecker/reader, tech/reader, echo/reader, crosshair/reader, bad batch group/reader
Warnings: none! Mostly fluff, mentions of wine and kissing. Implications of spicy time but nothing explicitly mentioned
Reader is gender neutral
Thanks for reading!!!! 🥰
Hunter:
~ After a long day of finalizing intel for the next mission you and Hunter decide to have a low key movie night before you have to be away for the next few rotations. You ready your living room with a cozy blanket and some comfy pillows and get ready to settle in
~ Hunter is a movie theater butter popcorn kinda guy. It’s a classic and you can’t go wrong. Occasionally he likes to sprinkle chocolate candies in with the popcorn for a salty/sweet combination.
~ Hunter likes movies where he doesn’t have to think too hard, something that’s entertaining but also doesn’t involve a lot of brain power. Poor man is exhausted from having to be the sole impulse control of the batch 87.3 percent of the time. Tbh he absolutely would go for a movie like Jumanji - any of the renditions. Perfect amount of comedy, action and adventure
~ He tries real hard but he dozes off during the middle of the movie quietly snoring on your shoulder. You smirk as you gently nudge him and he gives you the old adage “I was just resting my eyes, I know exactly what’s going on”. You roll your eyes and gently kiss the top of his head as he quickly dozed back off.
Wrecker:
~ Wrecker is an action comedy kinda man. Occasionally action romance if he’s feeling extra spicy with you 🤭 Tonight in particular he’s feeling a good laugh. You and him spent the day training so he’s extra hungry. You aim for takeout as your movie snack. You’ve got the family entre and sides and you’re both devouring it!
~ The movie tonight is Bullet Train because you’ve seen good reviews and it is RIGHT up Wrecker’s alley! He is belly laughing through the whole movie and doesn’t tease you when you snuggle into his shoulder when it gets just a bit too gruesome. “Don’t worry babe! I’ll tell you when it’s safe to look again!” He says as you hide your face in his shoulder for the 5th time.
~ Wrecker likes to talk through movies so you’re often pausing so you can both get your thoughts and theories out. You don’t mind you like to hear what he has to say. The best part is talking about your theories of who’s behind the plot sometimes you’re right and then you’re wrong then right again. You’re both laughing and giggling the whole time.
~when the movie is over though you two snuggle on the couch and talk about your favorite parts, what scenes looked the coolest and who was the best actor. You stay that way well into the night until you’ve both passed out.
Tech:
~ this man COMMITS to movie night. He comes fully prepared with snacks, and sets up with a whole charcuterie board for the both of you with a paired wine. He also commits to being as comfy as possible. He pulls the gray sweatpants look because he knows you like it. It’s a treat for after the movie. You two cuddle up in the softest blanket he bought for you from a local trader
~ tonight’s movie is Glass Onion because Tech loves a mystery. He loves to see if he can figure out the mystery before the end of the movie. Like wrecker he is a chatter during the movie but mainly to himself. Muttering and mumbling his observations aloud. You find it cute. Tech also, very briefly imitates Benoit Blanc in a line that he found extra amusing. “Dear this movie is how do I say,” he pauses to find the right accent “brilliant!”
~ tech always watches a movie with rapt attention but as you cozy up to him he will gently and mindlessly rub your back or card his fingers through your hair. When the movie ends however he gently litters your face with soft kisses as you talk about your favorite parts of the movie. He loves listening to you and watching your eyes sparkle with amusement as you chatter on.
Echo:
~ Echo is a closet fantasy lover. He’s also a comfort movie watcher. So when he gets the chance he’s watching Lord of the Rings with you. And it. Is. A. Marathon. He doesn’t get a lot of days off with the batch but by gods is he making this a whole day. He helps you prep all of your favorite snacks the day before so you have them ready. When you wake up that morning the living room is set to a cozy level of 11/10.
~ Echo loves to cuddle while watching a movie, he was worried at first you might find him uncomfortable with some of his cybernetics but it really doesn’t bother you. You love to sit between his legs and lean your back up against his chest so he can rest his chin atop your head.
~ occasionally he sneaks some of the snacks designated for you even though he’s a firm believer in the tradition of his snacks. You don’t say anything of course so you can encourage him trying new foods.
~ yes, Echo of course points out the scene where Aragorn breaks his toe when he kicks the helmet so his scream is real.
~ by the end though Echo has gotten side tracked, he’s seen these movies a bunch of times and is absolutely raptured by your beauty so he takes pause breaks to be…devoted to you should you wish it 😏
Crosshair:
~ Man is a HOPELESS ROMANTIC AT HEART. You are absolutely watching a rom com or Bridgerton or SOMETHING of the sort. He loves when you get to see the soft side of him because only you get to see it.
~ He’s always rooting for the couple and if you are watching Bridgerton he likes to see you get a little hot and bothered and starts whispering sweet nothings in your ear as he plays with your hair.
~ movie night for you two is much less about the movie and more about quality time with noise in the background. If food is included it’s the sensual foods, ones that you can jokingly feed to each other.
~ the one time you did make popcorn on your first movie night you tried to see how many you could toss into each others mouths. You were cleaning up kernels for a month after
Group:
~ Omega picks the movie of course. She goes for a solid movie that all of her brothers and her might like. She chooses Kung Fu Panda because she suspects all of her brothers will find something to enjoy about it.
~ Omega and Wrecker giggle the entire time. Hunter is shushing Tech who keeps pondering about a Pandas ability to actually do kung fu - Echo relates hard to master shifu and crosshair is enjoying seeing his baby sister enjoy a movie so much that he even cracks a small smile.
~ it’s a classic family movie night complete with pizza and homemade milkshakes and popcorn and earlier that day you and Omega set up a blanket fort for all of you to snuggle into.
~ By the time you’ve made it to Kung Fu Panda 3 only you and Omega are awake, all the boys are fast asleep. Omega is curled up with her head in your lap fighting sleep because she so desperately wants to finish the movie but by the end, she too is fast asleep.
~you softly chuckle at the cuddle puddle around you and cover up omega with a blanket and you turn off the TV and allow yourself to drift off - content and happy with your boys around you.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Episode 15 Review - Sein's A Healer, But...
Wow, is December a month of romance or something? Last week’s episode had some Stark x Fern moments and a huge Frieren x Himmel moment and now today’s episode has a huge Stark x Fern moment. What’s hilarious is that while the Stark and Fern moment may be the highlight, it’s actually not the focus of the episode. In fact, this episode mainly focuses on the male party members with Sein focusing on the first half and Stark on the second.
Sein’s love for MILFs is hilarious, but the first half of the episode mainly focuses on his capabilities. He’s a priest, which means he’s a healer, but how does he fare in combat? Surprisingly, Sein’s very capable with offensive magic too. He’s not just a healer as holy magic has its offensive skills too. I like that! Sein fighting the Chaos Flower may be reckless on his part, but it does make sense as he hasn’t built trust with Frieren yet. However, this was a lesson on Sein’s part as even if he hasn’t gotten to know Frieren yet, he still needs to trust in her capabilities. He definitely deserved that head pat from Frieren onee-san. Also, the Chaos Flower is really gross-looking; it kind of reminds me of that monster plant from Jumanji in a way.
I like how Stark was mainly used as a sort of mouthpiece for the world building aspect of this half of the episode. The usefulness of priests hadn’t been in the spotlight much, so it was nice that Frieren explains everything to him without shaming his lack of knowledge. It’s cool knowing the types of magic and why Frieren never sought to learn the Goddess’ Magic—it’s too intricate and she doesn’t believe in the Goddess. This does worry me, however. If Sein is only a temporary party member, how will Frieren’s party deal with curses in the future?
The second half of the episode focuses on Stark. A Lord notices Stark and has a request for him; he wants him to fill in for his late son for the upcoming soiree just to build up morale for the military. Surprisingly, his late son looks identical to Stark. Because the party lacks money, they decide to accept the request, begrudgingly on Stark’s end. It was cool knowing that Stark has distant relatives as Orden was once from the same village. Though, it’s sad learning that the entire village was wiped out, meaning Stolz, Stark’s brother is most likely dead.
I do like how this portion is like a mirror of Stark’s past with his father and brother. Lord Orden is a kinder version of his father and Stark could see Mut, Orden’s second son, in himself. I believe it’s like a closure in a way. While Orden did seem to grow attached to Stark throughout the three months of having him stay at the manor, Orden and Stark are still strangers at the end of the day. Orden will never be Stark’s father and Stark will never be Wirt, Orden’s late eldest son. Though, it was sweet that Orden was considering adopting Stark.
The highlight of the episode was definitely the ballroom dancing scene with Stark and Fern. The animator for that segment, Myoun, stated that everything was animated by hand without the use of CG. They got the help of a dance school for the movement! That’s amazing. I especially loved the way the skirt of Fern’s ballgown twirled. Frieren’s animation team never skimps with fabric animation. My favorite part of that scene is the moment Stark, who’s normally passive, takes the initiative and leads the dance after seeing how nervous Fern was. I was also gushing at how beautiful both of them looked in that scene. Stark looks great with his hair brushed back and Fern is so pretty with her hair styled in a bun. The music was beautiful. It was so romantic; it also gave me the same vibes as the dance scene from Anastasia where she sang Once Upon A December.
Overall, this was a very good episode that gives insight to the male party members. It feels like a matter of time until they reach Auberst. What will happen before they get there? What will happen once they reach there? What are your thoughts on this episode?

thinking about board game club, but idia gets his hands on a game that is most definitely cursed (think jumanji or zathura), and so he and azul get into an entire argument about how even in an enchanted game they’d still beat the other (they’re desperate to show off in front of you). so the three of you decide to play it to see who will be the victor, only to (unsurprisingly) get pulled into the game world.
or alternatively: idia downloads a really shady otome with barely any reviews to prove to azul that he’s the ultimate romance master (self-proclaimed title) by speed-running the game. naturally, azul invites you to witness free entertainment. but the minute idia loads the game, enters his player name into the box, and clicks start, the three of you are yanked into the otome world, where you have to raise each other’s love meters in order to reach a good end and escape. only it’s become less of a collaborative effort and more of a competition when both of them are trying to be the first one to get the good end with you. they think it shouldn’t be too difficult, even if they’re both intentionally trying to thwart the other’s progress, until the game’s actual love interests show up and try to romance you. surely it’s all part of the game’s script and not some weird form of sentience. right?

Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle 2017
It's shit. The entire joke of the movie is that it's adult bodies doing teenager things, how totally awkward!! It's especially awful with Jack Black the entire joke the whole entire movie is that he's a grown middle-aged man but he's acting like a typical teen girl and if it wasn't Jack Black thinly veiling the joke the character would just be entirely extremely misogynistic. None of the other characters are good either.
They tried really hard to make 'female character has a penis now and reacts in shock and awe' a running joke and it's just not happening, the joke has never hit not even once.
They make a few references to the original movie and that's slightly cool, the outdoor house the aviator was living in was made by Alan Parrish, who was trapped in the jungle for 26 years and had to live there. The main villain is called Van Pelt but it supremely isn't the Van Pelt of the first movie? It's some ambiguously non white guy covered in grease and he's like a weird raider type guy? The movie evolved from tribal African racism to modern African racism.
Also the entire casting choice for the Jumanji player characters was 'people who are famous and relevant in 2017' and nothing else, I guess that's just kind of endemic of movies made entirely to be nostalgia bait and nothing else?
Final review: It's shit don't watch this movie. Not worth anything.

there were so many trailers that I just wanted to jot down thoughts
ossan's love- I never got into the og, never got into the remake, it's unlikely that i'll watch this unless it has glowing reviews after it ends and maybe not even day
leap day- it looks interesting but also looks bad so we'll see. I love a good symbolic pair but day/night combo has been soured for me due to last twilight. Gun looks like he'll be good. Dew gets a lot of lead roles for someone that I don't think is a good actor.
the heart killers- awww firstkhao getting their romcom! after this, imma need them to do some individual projects though. They're too good to only get pair projects. joongdunk looks fine, casting joong and khao as brothers should be fun.
friendshit forever- I was so intrigued when I thought this was a gl and then far less intrigued later. GMMTV needs to give pat her gl like yesterday. I hate this hair on Boun but i'll still be watching this.
perfect 10 liners- I heard this was 30 eps??? gmmtv clearly has too many actors and pairs then they can handle. still waiting for perthchimon to get a decent story, will not be watching unless I hear its good after it ends.
us- this looks excellenttt. I am cautiously optimistic and hopefully, i'll be over my precious enough that I can appreciate coming of age romances again by the time this airs. The pair looks great, Sing also looks great, i'm definitely watching
Hide & Sis- after the mess that was the jungle, I was ready to nope out of this and then they showed Piploy. No clue if it's good but i'll be watching. Hopefully, it'll be more psihy and less the jungle.
Thame- Po -i do have a weakness for idol romances so watching, yes, the rest of it is unimportant
break up service- reminding me of midnight motel, looks fine but not enough that i'm going to watch it
revamp the undead story - ik I'm out of the loop but I am still surprised that they're already announcing this project. how I feel about it remains to be seen but this is boum's dream production so i'll watch for him if nothing else. Oh actually, one thought- why the fuck did they do that to santa's eyebrows?
sweet tooth, good dentist- I'm delighted to see Mark be the lead. They'll be compelling just because it's ohm and mark and also mark's shown us all year that he can have good chemistry with anyone. Will be watching but am a taddddd bit disappointed that it's such an idk, basic role.
The Dark Dice- didn't expect Gemini to get a solo show, it's wonderful to see Prim again but this looks like Jumanji in a high school setting, skip
The Ex-Morning- clearly written for this specific pairing, the chemistry looks better than sotus but i'm ambivalent on singtokrist so idk yet if I'm going to watch. Currently a skip for me
Scarlet Heart Thailand - It took entirely too long for me to connect this to the kdrama but officially what i'm most excited for. However, this only works out if Nanon's Wang So and Win's Wang Wook in which case it'll be excellent. if Win's Wang So, i'll still watch but I won't be happy about it. Either way, the casting looks absolutely fantastic and thought out. Tu's going to be perfect as Hae Soo.

Can you review this skeleton, Skeleton Person? (love the skylanders ghost roaster pfp btw, very good taste)
This is "The Stalker" from jumanji, The animated series. The stalker is actually the overseer of everything in the jungle, Because actually.. The game isn't a game, But an entity, And it's personal little hellscape. It manifests itself with a grim reaper avatar for when things go wrong/business needing to be taken care of. The "Stalker" can do things such as:
-Having a touch of death. Any organic thing it touches either rots, Melts, Decays, You name it.
-As the creator/the game itself, Can make anything happen. Often, The "Stalker" uses and takes advantage of people. Their wants, Fears, Desires, Insecurities, Anything, To try and keep them there. Things like making a fake world where things are perfect and everyone is nice in one episode, Making a love interest for the lonely character in one episode, Manifesting the character's fears into reality, Trapping people in jumanji.. Yeah there's so much more..
-Fear mongers every villain to do their bidding. Because they know if they don't obey the skeleton, They die.
-Is immortal and cannot be killed. Unlike other villains, Who are immune to most things but can be killed in some way shape or form.
-Listens and watches everything that everyone does. Knows everything that happens. WILL use that against you, Be careful what you talk about.
-Levitates!
-And much more.
Would you rate them 10 spooky skeletons out of ten, Or zero spooky skeletons out of ten, Thus kicking this bag of bones to the curb?
9/10, mysterious gentleman but a lack of whimsy
