Julie Pycior's Book Recognized by Paulist Press
Dorothy Day, Thomas Merton and the Greatest Commandment: Radical Love in Times of Crisis, written by Julie Leininger Pycior, Ph.D., professor emeritus of history at Manhattan College, was recognized as one of the top bestsellers of 2020 for Paulist Press.
Pycior’s book is the first-ever pairing of their journals, revealing that Merton drew great inspiration from Day’s devotion to prayer, peace, and privileging the least, while Day mused that she must pray to him, after the death of this monk whose spiritual reflections on injustice often appeared in her Catholic Worker newspaper.
