@Writers_Circle Recently I attended a webinar hosted by The Writers Circle & featuring editor & writer Carole DeSanti, an editor at #vikingpress for many years. ‘Reinventing the Path to Publication’ was as much a history lesson on the origins of storytelling & 📚 publishing as it was a lecture/ discussion on the changing world of publishing. Topics discussed included the many options writers have today that we did not have when traditional publishing was the be-all / end-all. I was pleased that she is enthusiastic about the future of #storytelling and the placement of those stories in our cultures. I learned quite a bit; for example did you know that Venice for a very long time was the capital of book publishing? I didn’t. About literary agents? Who do you trust was a theme as well as appreciating that the best #literaryagents are true #author advocates. Carole affirms my belief that the Internet took traditional publishing by surprise BUT they are ‘catching on & p’which makes the bottom line this: #storytellers, no matter your age or genre you’re writing in, you had better develop a sturdy #socialmedia presence. Whether you are aiming to be traditionally published, self published, small press published or hybrid published, without a strong presence on the Internet, chances are nobody’s going to read your stories… or at least not enough to make a difference. #daysgoneby in #publishing are gone. New day has dawned. Thanks to #thewriterscircle & founder #judithlindbergh for hosting an informative #zoom #webinar 👍🏽#changeisinevitable #publishinglife #writerscommunity #publishingoptions #literaryagentsofinstagram #literaryagentscomefindme #hybridpublishing #hybridpublishers #selfpublishingauthor #smallbookpublishers #literaryagentsearching #writersmama #amazonbooks #kdpamazon https://www.instagram.com/p/CQRLSZwrBJN/?utm_medium=tumblr
