Jude but as a medieval prince who in a campaign to control more lands in his fathers name, meets you. 

You are the youngest daughter to a lord in the countryside, with more land then you can keep track of. Your father does not want to fight, so he chooses to join ranks with the new kingdom. 

Your brother, and heir to all you know, is not happy.

“He is being spineless.” he sighs at dinner. 

Your other siblings only shake their heads at him. There are 10 of you in total. And your brother who takes the head of the table in your fathers absence has always been the most mouthy. 

“If you want to fight, you do so on your own terms. We seek not to take arms against a self proclaimed king.” Your eldest sister replies to him, firm. Ever since your mother passed all those years ago she has taken her spot the best she can. 

If your brother fights he does so alone. None of you want bloodshed. The king seems to be of favorable word and bargains. You don't know what to make of it yet. 

You meet Jude the very next morning. Standing in council and addressing the whole family. He speaks firm and clear. The clinking of his chainmail armor distracts you. 

He goes through the terms and after a bit of negotiation your father signs a paper and that's that. 

He comes to learn your name when you are put in charge of getting him sorted for the night. Appointing him servants to tend to him and telling him to let you know if you need anything else. 

You'd make the perfect princes he thinks.

Jude stays for one more night. Recovering from a few injuries he sustained on the way and enjoying a hot meal and clean water while he can. 

Your family is kind, he wont forget this. 

He sees you in the gardens and decides to make conversation. Proper one. One that ends with his lips pressed onto yours while you smile.

“You're not half bad for a prince.” Your hands rest on his shoulders.

He shrugs, “not half bad for a lady.” 

You smile. “When you finish your campaign you must return. I'll be waiting. “

He snorts, kissing the corners of your mouth.

Neither of you know just yet but he will return, and you will make a fine princess. Later queen.

After the team dinner Jude couldn’t resist, he had bought you the beautiful mid thigh dress to wear to his team dinner. When he god home he was dragging you to the bedroom. Pulling the dress of you and you undressed him in his nice all black suit that had you on edge all night. He normally would make you cum first by eating you out but there wasn’t time for that tonight he needed to be inside you. Jude immediately puts himself in you and lets out a groan as you squeeze him from the sudden movement. He put a hand on your back and pushes lightly to make you arch a bit more. When you do you let out a small whine chase you swore you felt him go deeper. After he gave you a minute he’s fucking you so hard, he’s using that speed like he’s playing a fucking match. It had you gripping the sheets and moaning into them, maybe even drooling a bit. Jude’s trying so hard to not roll his eyes back cause how are you so fucking tight. Jude definitely came a lot quicker that usual but he ate you out to make up for it.

Pet therapy

When you and Kylian moved together he knew he had to accept the fact that you would have never been just the two of you in the relationship. Your dog Loki was there too and he always wanted more attention than a baby. You adopted him three years ago, he was only a puppy, so small he couldn’t even walk straight but you fell in love with him the moment you saw him at the shelter. So now, three years later he was your best friend and your protector.

Kylian asked you to move with him only six months into the relationship and you agreed. You were in love and everyone knew. He knew you were moving him with your dog too, and even if he wasn’t a big fan of Loki he knew you cared too much and that you would choose your pet over him any time. So he agreed of taking you and Loki into his apartment. Luckily for you, or your dog, his apartment was huge so Loki had a lot of space for when he wanted to play.

But one thing Kylian didn’t know about was that you would spend most of your time taking care of your dog instead of spending time with your boyfriend. Kylian was not a baby of course, but he loved your attention, you taking care of him and making him feel special all the time but now your dog was taking over most of your time.

Was he really jealous over a dog?

Yes he was.

He couldn’t stand the fact that everytime when you wake up you would greet Loki before greeting Kylian. The fact that you would kiss your dog goodnight before you do it with Kylian. The fact that you would take time showering and cleaning your dog but you would rush it everytime you and Kyky took a shower together. He just couldn’t stand it.

One night you came back pretty late from work and all you wanted to do was taking a shower and laying down in bed and sleep.

The moment you opened the door you saw Loki jumping from the couch and running to you.

“Hi baby!” you greeted him with your baby voice. That stupid voice you would make every time you talk with your dog

“How’s my baby? Uh? Were you good today? Did you have fun with Kyky?” you asked him knowing he couldn’t answer back but still you loved treating him like a baby because to you, he was your son.

You spent almost ten minutes petting your dog before going up to Kylian.

“Hey babe, how are you?” you asked him, dropping your baby voice and sitting on the couch next to him.

“Oh so you know I exist too…” he said and that confused you a bit.

“Of course baby…are you okay?” you asked him a bit worried.

“So she cares now…I thought I wasn’t your priority” he snapped back and you had no idea why he was behaving like that.

“Kylian what’s going on?” you asked him a bit more irritated.

“Loki, that what’s going on?” he said and you immediately worried.

“What happened? Is he okay? Did he do something? Did he break something?” you asked and Kylian rolled his eyes seeing your reaction.

“That’s what I’m talking about! You give him all of your attention! I exist too!” he shouted back and you couldn’t help but smile. Your boyfriend, the man that you love the most in your life, was jealous over a dog.

“Why are you smiling now?” he asked you.

“Kylian” you laughed “are you serious? I mean, you’re jealous over a dog?” you kept laughing and he felt his cheeks heat a bit, realising he over reacted too much.

“But I mean, you give him all your attention and what about me?” he looked at you with puppy eyes and you couldn’t believe of what you were hearing.

“You…Kylian” you said moving from the couch to his lap “are the most important person in my life okay? I love you and you know it and I can’t believe my boyfriend is jealous over a dog” you said still laughing and he laughed too “I promise I’ll take care of you too” you said kissing him.

“More showers, just you and me” he said and you nodded, a smile on your face.

“And please don’t let him taking over my spot on the couch, he’s absurd!” he joked looking at your dog who was currently sleeping in Kylian’s spot.

“I promise you big baby” you said and Kylian smiled.

You just had the best day of your life, finding out that Kylian loved you so much that he was jealous over a dog.

So, I'm writting a Mafia Au Jurdan. And I accidently wrote an oneliner and tbh it kinda slaps...

This is was supposed to be a simple ask but it ended up getting long because of there being too many question and discussions but barely any answers so sorry about that.

On the topic of WhatPumpkin sometimes we all have to wonder what the fuck is going on behind the scenes, the latest news we got werent that much and it felt more of a like "Hey guys we are still alive dont forget about us" situation and it doesnt help that we cant really get any info because of how the only guy that Im atleast aware that works on it and is online is James and although I have no source because it was months ago, when beyond canon came back I remember him getting asked about Hiveswap and i dont remember if he answered it on the blog or on a reddit qna but he had said he cant really do much about it because hes just the music guy on that department and not an director or writer and he probably cannot say whats going on if hes aware of even the minimum because of NDAs and you know the situation is weird when not even the new director for post canon can do nothing about it or doesnt know what the fuck is going on over there either (i believe its more of the former).

On the same topic Hussie jumping the ship in my opinion feels like such an awful move in a moral and community sense, he hires fucked up people and ends up going through development hell and instead of trying to fix it he just runs away and gives someone else the work. He becasically invited destruction to that place by not doing background checks and shit and now everyone else but him has to suffer for it. I wonder if WhatPumpkin will close business after they finish Hiveswap (if they even manage to finish it) or if their writting quality wont be bad if they try to do Hauntswitch now.

I also sometimes wonder if Hauntswitch was made first maybe things could have been better. Think about it:

It happens on the Human World and you play as a cool kid looking troll and that could open the doors for a lot of potential to explore more about the Earth on the Homestuck universe and its conspiracy theories and also give us more video game parody mechanics.

The whole conspiracy theory Jude had that iirc had even the USA presidents connect to may be right considering the easter egg that shows some sort of cultists standing outside the mansion we see on the background and watching the events unfold.

We would get more answers for whatever the fuck those creatures that attacked the manor where.

Overall sounding like an awesome story itself, a alien coming to earth and fighting a cult related to the presidents with a human companion. Especially considering how Dammek sounds like hes an asshole and also because of how trolls are usually violent could lead to interesting interactions.

I might be wrong and biased though but I feel like that concept could attract more outsiders than Hiveswap could ever wish to do. And hopefully thats it and that I wont waste almost an hour of my life rambling about this stuff (for my own sake because i feel like i could have spent my time better but i also need to post this somewhere and i dont use social media most of the time and when i do its usually to see fanart, memes and overall discussion of my fav franchises) but I probably will in the future.

Yes, the question about Hiveswap was asked in a Q&A back in October 30th, 2023 from James Roach here (Archive ver for backup). The news about development should be something more like how Toby does with the Deltarune newsletter. Monthly, maybe do a special event ARG thing that gives insight of what's coming up, or anything like that. Though even with that, it might be probably too little too late since we are at 11 years since the Kickstarter had funded. Probably doesn't help since 2 million dollars was wasted, it's a mystery how the game is still being worked on if the original Kickstarter money that was given to them, had been used up. What is WhatPumpkin's new source of income then? Do they have a second job they aren't telling us about? Are they using part of that Patreon money from Beyond Canon since technically there are some that work within Hiveswap too like James? Then there's the fact Hussie not only wasted the money, but basically left the Kickstarter project he started in the first place. He may own it and be credited as the creator, but he won't be involved in the future Acts and Hauntswitch. I'm surprised nobody is pissed at him for scamming them out of 2 million dollars. Do people not care if the original person who hosted it left? Especially with the truth come to light thanks to Gio's research on this. I wouldn't be surprised if WhatPumpkin does shut down because they couldn't gain the sales needed after releasing Hiveswap Act 3. People will probably wonder if even buying stuff from Topatoco would help or not with HS merch like the prints slowly resurfacing. Drawing in the crowds from old and new to play the game will be tough. I wouldn't be surprised if Hauntswitch was first made in mind before Hiveswap. Dammek even had a 3D model ready too.

Likely back when it was still a 3D game, we would control briefly but then after the cutscene of them being transported to the other planet, we would then have to take control of Dammek, have him meet Jude to possibly have him find a way to help him back home, and the pair would adventure on Earth itself for the rest of the game to find out about the monsters and the cult. Dammek's paranoid nature would play off Jude's conspiracy theory pretty well as it has the two involved looking deep into the mystery. I wouldn't be surprised if something about the cult would eventually tie in to his home planet and the rebellion as a final grand twist. An idea like that sounds more interesting than some girl getting lost on an alien planet and was roped into some rebellion that she has no reason to be part of besides being concerned for a friend.

I wanna hear abouth this "Echoes" Story you are writting. I always am a sucker for a good zombie crawl.

I don't have this story fully fleshed out, but these are some of the concepts I am working with:

The main character is Sadie Hartman. At the start of the story, its about 2 years into the outbreak and most of the towns, etc. are empty due to people having turned or they evacuated. Due to civilization in her area collapsing, she doesn't know if there is any life outside of Vagabond Valley, her region. Sadie has heard rumors about other states being safe from the outbreak, but the powers that be are keeping her region quarantined from the rest of the world.

Sadie needs glasses and or contact lenses to fully comprehend her surroundings. She's been without for almost 5 months and has had close calls with the Sals, and her right leg is healing from a fracture.

The Sals are the "zombies". They are natural parasitic amphibians (salamander like) to the region, but no one knows where they came from. As far as Sadie is aware, they spread via contaminated water; people accidentally ingesting the eggs.

There are two kinds of Sals that Sadie is aware of: the Screechers and the Lurkers. Screechers have the ability to "mimic" humans or try to tempt survivors into aiding them (screaming like children or babies, calling out someone's name etc). Lurkers are naturally mute and most are blind, but they have something akin to echolocation (they "tap" or "hit" things and listen to where sound bounces off from). Either of these two can end up becoming a Breeder, and these actively seek out certain humans so they can deposit their progeny. They're the most violent and their intelligence is high.

Aside from the Sals, there are small groups of people who are a huge threat to Sadie.

Jude, Maxwell, and Lucy are other characters essential to the plot (also named after Beatles songs)

The region and outbreak location is based on the PNW, towns, and areas where I grew up.

The Sals are metaphorically based on how I visualized my own trauma from violence and sex. I put a lot of my own pain into the story.

There are funny moments in the story, but it has some really, really, dark moments.

The snippet I'm sharing is some texts from notes Sadie later finds in the story as she unravels a potential possibility as to where the Sals originated from (kind of a homage to RE's "Itchy Tasty"):

4/18/2019 I originally interned because of my interest in the lichen growing within the caves, but the little guys have started to grow on me. Prudence being passionate about them has also left an impact. Her field of study is animal behavior in environmental situations. She’s been documenting more of the strange phenomena the animals have been exhibiting. Come to find out some of them are more attracted or fixated on members of the team than others when we go venture down to collect and document.

4/23/2019 I recently found out Caleb has been sneaking one of the little guys bits of doritos. Had to scold him for it, so that Professor S didn’t knock his skull. Some part of me believes maybe that’s why they've been fixated on us, because they were being fed by someone. Prudence was inclined to believe that too. It didn’t however, explain the stalking behavior. The last time Prudence went down, she told me that one of them was being stealthy in the water as it followed alongside her path. Every time she turned to look, it would quickly hide as if not wanting to be caught while it watched her. Predatory animals do that. Humans not wanting to be seen also do that.

4/26/2019 Last night as I slept, one of the containers fell off the ledge near my shelving unit where I had them all and shattered. Given the height, I’m shocked I didn’t wake up to the impact. There was no trace of the salamander, nor signs that it was injured during the fall. I searched everywhere this morning for it, but no luck. Had it somehow gone through my window?

4/30/2019 I feel like a jackass, not being able to help out with our packing for the trip to campus, but my body feels like crap. When I peed earlier before snuggling into bed, there was blood in my urine. As soon as I can get into town I’m going to the hospital.

5/3/2019 Three god damn days and I can’t stop itching. My skin keeps bubbling like I have blisters, and I’m constantly drinking water, or I’m underneath the shower head. The dehydration feels painful like I’ve never had been quenched in my life. Doesn’t help that I think I’m beginning to get cabin fever in my own room. Luckily, no one else is going through what I have. Jesus, maybe the toxins from Sunstone got me? I’m beginning to think this isn’t a normal case of the flu.

5///6?8?--2019 Can’t sleep. Two more showers. Masturbate, and catch a whiff of the air. Itch my body, wrap myself in blankets, and shake. I now have heartburn, and sharp pain in my back. I never had a spinal tap before, but this is an equivalent I guarantee. I can’t stay here anymore. I have to get to a doctor.

I do not speak italian so I had to use googletranslate (idk how to translate a post so I just took screenshots and translated on google the text) but I must say I really love ur writting. The way u capture the dinamic so well and express the relationship betwin Cardan, Jude and reader is just wonderfull.

Demir was in an unusually good mood today. Well, maybe not so unusual after the night he and Jude had. Who would have thought that one little text was all it took for that fire between them to reignite? The boxer didn’t realize how much he had missed the other until last night. It was laughable really, to think that a man as hard and as twisted as Demir was capable of harboring feelings for so long. Two years. It felt like a life time.  He stood over his stove,  one hand on his hip while the other held the handle of an iron skillet. The smell of bacon filled the room. It had been a while since he had someone spend the night over so the sound of footsteps approaching him was not something Demir was used to hearing first thing in the morning. He could however, get used to it. “ Morning. ” He greeted, turning his attention towards the man of the hour. Jude.  “ You must be hungover as hell. Sit down. I made breakfast.”

I've closed it for a little while. I'm not an expert, but I would suggest with any writing, the more you read, the more you come across great pieces and also not so great pieces that help shape your own style.

With a morally grey character, I would first work out why they are morally grey. What is their motive/history? Is there a goal they want to achieve and will stop at nothing to achieve it? Or is it simply their character doesn't know the difference between right and wrong and feels little guilt with what they do. Don't just make them morally grey because it's sexy (which it is most the time lmao). I'd say most morally grey characters have a complex history that makes them that way. If you grow up surrounded by goodness and righteousness, there's little need to go into the darkness. Usually there is something traumatic that feeds into their personality.

My favourite morally grey characters are ones who get a little squeamish when they do the right thing.

Take Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows. Innocent boy thrust into a big city, trusts somebody, loses all his money, brother dies, goes through a massively traumatic incident that has impacted his every waking moment since - and is then hell-bent on revenge. Does he do a lot of bad stuff? Yes. Does he feel guilt over it? No. Why? Because he is determined on that path and seems unshakeable to remove himself from it. However, he is not completely bad. He doesn't seek to hurt just anybody he comes across; he always has his target in mind. But sure, if somebody became an obstacle, he'd have no issue in removing it. Take the way he behaves with Inej; calls her his investment, knows that hurts her to consider her as little more than a lavish spend, but does it to protect himself because he doesn't want to admit that he has feelings for Inej and she is more than an investment. (Close your eyes for spoilers - but by the end of the series, he's shifted that and even if he won't admit it, he's bought her a ship and brought her parents to Ketterdam because he knows it will bring her joy - and that doesn't benefit him in the slightest to lose her)

There are many book boyfriends who are "morally grey" - Wrath from Kingdom of the Wicked, Slade from the Plated Prisoner, Casteel from From Blood and Ash, people will say Rhys too. But it seems to me they just hurt people who dare speak against their love interest. Cardan Greenbriar from the Folk of the Air is one of my favourites because he falls into the trap of "crap, I have feelings so I'll disguise them with nastiness". He's cruel to Jude but if he acted on his feelings for her, it goes against the grain of what's expected of faeries. However, I don't feel like these are actually morally grey because they are only good to a select few and just tend to be bad as much as they can otherwise. In my opinion, the Darkling is not morally grey either. He wants power and doesn't care who he steps on. There's no goodness in him. His damn name is the Darkling.

If we take love out of it, for me, a morally grey character is somebody like Lorcan from Throne of Glass who knows he's probably not doing the right thing when he's hunting for Aelin, knows it will piss of Rowan, but he is duty bound to do it and that is the more important thing to him. That desire to fulfil his goal and please Maeve supersedes everything else.

If your morally grey character is motivated by achieving a goal then they hurt people in the process and don't apologise because their goal is what drives them. Or, if they do apologise, would likely do it again. However, it might be that internally, they do feel guilty, they do feel shame for hurting someone but their goal just matters that little bit more. I would amp up the internal conflict within them. The desire to do what's right vs what you want. (If you've watched Squid Game then I'm thinking Sang-Woo).

Morally grey characters:

use others to achieve their goal - this could be a way to generate that conflict "you used me!" yeah i told you i would, what's the issue

Lie so that others never know if they're being honest with them - and that feeds into the distrust

have flaws - Kaz is so dogged with his revenge that it rules him sometimes

believe what they do is right with little regret (azriel beating the crap out of eris in the high lord's meeting which in turn spooks mor but to azriel, he was doing the right thing defending her)

get their hands dirty even if it puts off other characters

get their hands dirty to benefit the people they care about e.g. wrath ripping out a tongue because they spoke against emilia

This might be controversial but I kind of wish sjm kept some of the things that rhys did UtM, including the winter court children because he was forced into that situation and had to keep up appearances for the sake of Velaris and the mask he was wearing. Would it be an absolutely horrendous thing to do? Yes. Do I think he would do it to protect the people he loves? Yes. Would he feel guilt? Absolutely. Which would make for a much more interesting character and change how his family perceive him. But then it got retconned away.

Morally grey characters are supposed to make you squirm. They have to do the morally bad things to be grey. Just hurting bad people is being the hero. There does need to be darkness. It's a spectrum; sometimes they're a little bit closer to the light. There needs to be moments when you think "no way have they done that".

There seems to be very few morally grey female characters that I can think of. Maybe Vanja from Little Thieves who commits crimes for revenge, hurts friends to meet her goals because otherwise it's her neck on the chopping board. Or maybe Sera from A Shadow in the Ember who is told she must kill Nyktos who she is slowly seducing whilst also falling for him too.
