A NIGHT OF REVELATIONS.
REN KAJI, featuring TOMA HIRAGI
ren kaji set aside his ego and pride to attend some afterparty because he knew you would be there. that meant a lot.
and at first, everything was… fine? he stepped out of his comfort zone, headphones down as he listened to the beats of the music which played over the speakers. his eyes met yours, with you linking your pinky with his.
"what? you wanna dance with me?" he questioned, his tone almost accusatory. it was what he wanted more than anything, yet he made it sound as if it was your desire. the mere thought of your skin grazing his made his heart want to burst out of his chest.
"you want me to dance to feid? no fucking way rennie, i don't dance to that. plus, you should take care of toma, he's on another planet."
sure, the song was ass, yet he still felt his heart shatter. he watched as you waltzed away, heading towards your friend group to chat. kaji turned his head to the side, only to find his upperclassmen staring back at him. his bloodshot eyes were puffy, lips pursed before he raised an almost empty bottle of god-knows-what to his lips.
great. now he has to babysit.
when he sat down next to hiragi, kaji had a bad feeling.
“m’gonna do it tonight, kaji.”
call it foresight, or a crazy good intuition, but ren kaji knew his heart would sink this very night. “good” he hummed. it was the only thing to come out of his mouth, as he felt his stomach churn from the anxiety.
“ya sure ya don’t feel anything for her?”
“all good” he squeaked, “let me know how it goes.”
when he found you a while later, kaji was stunned. there you were, drunk out of your mind and blowing smoke out of your pretty lips, body swaying to one of fanny lu's greatest hits.
with kota. fucking. sako.
it was a night of revelations, seeing as the once grumpy blond had a tiny smile on his face, mouthing the lyrics to don juan while facing you. his stiff body was now in sync with yours, chuckles escaping your lips as you commented on how great of a dancer he was.
kaji saw you stumble, and he took that as a sign. he knew he had to care for you. that, and the fact that he also had to get you away from sako, for his own mental wellbeing. with his hand getting ahold of yours, kaji guided you to a more secluded space of the patio, patting your head and asking if you're okay.
"you should go home, yn. you've had enough to drink."
when he asked to hang with you the day after, kaji was wary. sitting down next to one another in one of cactus bakery's booths, he sighed.
"you got home safe?"
"mhm."
"you didn't dance with me."
"yeah, i didn't."
"you did with sako, though."
resting your head on his shoulder, you laughed. "fanny lu is certainly not denied to anyone! if you had chosen another song other than feid's, i certainly would've danced with you, rennie."
a small smile appeared on his face as his mind raced on about what could have been the greatest night of his life, only to come back to his senses after he realized it could have been someone else's.
"anything else happen?"
"yeah" you shrugged, "hiragi texted me this morning, said he liked me."
he froze. since when was he hiragi to you?
"…well, what'd you say?"
ren kaji thought he was going to die.
"turned him down. he's like a brother to me, and i made that abundantly clear. he took it well, so that's that! he thanked me for being so mature about it."
last night was now certainly the greatest night of kaji's life, as he realized he still has a chance.
WHEN ONE STORY CLOSES, ANOTHER OPENS.
HAJIME UMEMIYA, featuring JO TOGAME
hajime umemiya was going to pop a blood vessel when he saw none other than shishitoren's second-in-command's hand holding yours, noses nearly grazing each other as he leaned down to whisper in your ear. your giggles, which were once his favorite tune, were now like nails on a chalkboard.
because it was togame who made you laugh.
his anger was indetectable, a smile plastered on his face as he observed the way in which you laughed at his jokes, how you tilted your head to the side and looked at him with those alluring eyes of yours, how you reached out to him when talking.
screw that, it was so obvious that umemiya was fucking jealous, as his eyes were squinted, his face had an expression of disgust, and one could swear that his left eyelid was trembling.
when you went to him a few days later telling him you had exchanged socials with togame, umemiya simply nodded with a smile on his face, congratulating you on how well things were going. he thought his soul was going to leave his body.
"he said he used to play street ball, and he played as a striker, and he wants to play volleyball with me! can you believe that, ume?"
"that's great, y/n! y'know i used to play street ball too, i was well-known for that back in the day, i used to play for my middle school as a striker" he grinned, his hand rubbing the back of his neck. "i could teach you to play both sports if you'd like! you wouldn't have to hop onto shishitoren turf that way."
hajime umemiya was utterly adorable.
that same night you received a text.
UME !! <3 This Thursday me and my siblings are gonna play ball! You wanna join?
umemiya's t-shirt fit you like a glove.
having little attire for a match, umemiya offered to gift you one of his shirts for you to play in, and the white and baby blue stripes made you look fantastic. to him, you were an angel sent from heaven to bless his eyes, as well as the football 'field'.
after playing like total lunatics, umemiya sat down cross-legged in the middle of the park's grass, you laying down and having your head resting on his thighs.
what umemiya wanted to do in that moment was kiss you senseless.
"hey ume… can you help me with something?"
"sure thing."
"togame's sort of being a bit pushy, and i don't have any interest in him at all. can you take a picture with me so that he'll shoo?"
his eyes sparkled more than the world's most expensive diamond. he excitedly nodded, asking you to open your phone's camera as he gently moved so that he laid beside you, resting his head on your shoulder and his arm wrapped around your waist.

umemiya felt like the luckiest man in the world when he found out togame had seen your story with him and had suddenly ghosted you.

when haruka sakura heard of a certain someone's temporary return to furin, he thought nothing of it. except for when that certain someone came waltzing up to him after seeing him interact with you a few minutes prior, a smug smile on his face.
"so, sakura! mind slippin' me her number?"
"huh?"
"yeah! that girl you were talking to before, she's totally my type."
"and why the hell would i do that?"
endo laughed as he placed his arm on sakura's shoulders, seeing how the boy in question's face turned beet red. "because, sakura, you're a good person! good people do good deeds!"
there was no way in hell haruka sakura was giving him your number. matter of fact, he didn't budge!
so why in the fuck were you giggling in front of him at pothos, telling him yamato endo was in your messages asking you out to breakfast?
sakura's eye started to twitch as he asked how he got your number, nearly spitting out his omelette rice when you told him nirei had given him your number. when you told him that endo was planning on coming to furin on saturday to meet up with you, his face became a newfound shade of red. whether it was from anger or from endo's affection towards you, he did not know.
friday came by, and to sakura's surprise…
"oh gosh, haru!"
"what's going on?"
"endo cancelled breakfast, said he couldn't make it since he's on his turf and can't come to bofurin's."
"'s a shit move to cancel last minute."
"but, tsubaki told me there's a party over at keisei street tomorrow night. wanna come with? i don't wanna go alone."
sakura's ears and cheeks were flushed as he stuttered a reply: a meek and simple 'yeah'. you smiled as you wrapped your arms around sakura, too excited to even let him react. when saturday night came around, you thought you were going to die.
yamato endo was in keisei street, grinding on another girl as he asked for her number.
your jaw dropped to the floor. to your surprise, sakura was even more enraged than you were. grabbing your wrist, he dragged you over to a bench, sitting you down and placing your head on his shoulder.
"let it out."
confused, you asked what he meant by it. he laid his head on top of yours, with you feeling how his stiff body slowly softened as he sighed.
"i said let it out. yer obviously hurt by that asshole, so let it out."
your sobs were swallowed by the blaring music, but for some reason, the sadness quickly faded away, instead being replaced with a sense of tranquility. as if you belonged there, with sakura by your side.
sakura was sure that yamato endo was a good person, doing him a favor by leaving you all to himself.
note. this is for my boyfriend. this is what you get for calling me your stinky poo. i am not a poo. the poos are your friends who tried to get with me later on. or perchance the poo has been you all along, because you did not give one shit that they liked me and you made your move. love always, your princess.

Tonantzin Guadalupe 🌵🌹
The original \/u| \//\ goddess I created in 2013 is Maria Rosa. Her design was inspired in major part between the miracle of La Virgen de Guadalupe and the concept of Mary Queen of Heaven.
I was recently commissioned to create a new (\/) Goddess inspired similarly between Guadalupe and Tonantzin by my chingona hermana Janet Bella Rosa who also knew Mi padrino Antonio 🙏 I felt his spirit guiding me to connect our visions! 💞
Tonantzin is an enduring Nahuatl title for the maternal aspect of any Aztec goddess, much like “Our Lady”, rather than the name of a particular goddess. I chose a blue background to parallel Her starry mantle of heaven and also represent Lake Texcoco since the eagle, snake, and cactus from its story of the founding of ancient Mexico there are present. 💙🌵
Tonantzin in various forms is frequently depicted with eagle feet so I thought it appropriate to have the legendary golden eagle clutch the silvery moon below Her in place of Guadalupe’s cherub 🦅 🌙 Tonantzin is often known, by many names, to wear a skirt of snakes- the celestial Aztec earth mother Coatlicue’s particular name translates to “She of Snake Skirts”. So I couldn’t help but see the snake emerge from the opening in Her folds here. Frequently in Aztec art snakes emerging from or replacing body parts represents blood so I feel a menstrual element from how the snake manifested in this vision 🐍 🩸
Many believe that the apparition of La Virgen de Guadalupe on Tepeyac Hill unto St. Juan Diego, an Indigenous peasant originally named Cuauhtlatoatzin meaning “Talking Eagle”, was a vision of a new form of Tonantzin. Her local temple had formerly been on that very site, destroyed by conquistadors. When Cuauhtlatoatzin received these holy visions, the Goddess spoke to him not in Spanish but in his native Nahuatl language even though She identified Herself as The Virgin Mother of God. Even the Church documents testify that The Holy Mother assured him in his moment of doubt, in his Indigenous tongue, “Am I not here who am your Mother?” Indeed Tonantzin Coatlicue herself is said to have had her own divine conception via a feather 🪶
The miraculous vision of Guadalupe that appeared upon Juan Diego/Talking Eagle’s tilma is often seen as a self portrait by Her and there are many analyses of the visual element’s encoding of Aztec symbolism. I took these theories and insights into consideration while creating this vision.
Even within the suppression of Spanish colonization ancient indigenous Mexican Curanderismo healing practices were able to persevere and often in the name of La Virgen de Guadalupe, under the protection of Her image.

“At home, on the evening of December 12th we may light a candle and place offerings of flowers, copal and chocolate in front of her statue or painting. In the public square, those who follow the Mexica spiritual tradition will join brothers and sisters for an all-night vigil of prayer, Danza, offerings, and songs to her, who is Tonantzin Tlalli Coatlicue, who was always honored at the hill of Tepeyac. As we salute the Four Winds and dance in the ceremonial circle, we honor those who have gone before us, the courageous people who kept traditions alive through the centuries despite the threat to their life if discovered. The feathers in the copilli, the ceremonial headdress worn by the dancers, will draw down the energy of the cosmos into Mother Earth, our beautiful Tonantzin Tlalli Coatlicue to help her heal from the many ways she is dishonored.
Nearby, children will play and laugh, faces smeared with the traces of candy and the cinnamon of churros, the delicious deep fried pastry covered with sugar and cinnamon while the sound of mariachi music adds to the feeling of a fusion of cultures and beliefs. If you wander the crowded street you will see a handful of Catholic pilgrims on their knees on the hard pavement slowly make their way to the entrance of the church in gratitude for answered prayers.
And, in spite of quiet official church disapproval, the local parish priest will invite Indigenous ceremonial dancers to participate during the special December 11-12 mass for Our Lady of Guadalupe. Inside the church, for a few moments, Mayan copal will blend with European frankincense, quetzal feathers will dance on the air, and elders with bundles of aromatic rosemary plants will cleanse the People’s spirit. The two cultures, reconciled at this moment, acknowledge their bond of love for the Woman Who is Cloaked with the Sun; a bridge of Light between peoples.”

La Deboradora
En el corazón del desierto de Sonora, donde el sol abrasador quemaba la arena y los cactus se erguían como espectros, había una leyenda sobre una serpiente gigante y endemoniada que aterrorizaba a los viajeros y cazadores que se atrevían a cruzar su reino.
Se decía que la serpiente, conocida como "La Devoradora", había sido creada por el propio diablo para castigar a los mortales que osaban profanar su hogar en el infierno. Su cuerpo era tan grueso como un tronco de árbol, y su longitud parecía no tener fin. Sus ojos brillaban como carbones encendidos, y su aliento era tan venenoso que podía matar a un hombre en un instante.
El cazador, un hombre llamado Juan, había oído la leyenda de La Devoradora desde que era un niño. Siempre había sido escéptico, pero después de años de cazar en el desierto, comenzó a creer que había algo de verdad en la historia.
Un día, Juan decidió enfrentarse a la bestia. Se preparó con su rifle más potente y una bolsa llena de balas, y se adentró en el corazón del desierto. Caminó durante horas, el sol golpeando su espalda como un martillo, hasta que finalmente escuchó un ruido que hizo que su corazón se detuviera.
Era el sonido de la serpiente, deslizándose a través de la arena como una masa gigante y sinuosa. Juan se escondió detrás de un cactus y esperó, su rifle listo.
La serpiente emergió de la niebla de calor, su cuerpo ondulante como una ola. Juan apuntó y disparó, pero la bala rebotó en la piel de la serpiente como si fuera piedra. La bestia se giró hacia él, sus ojos brillando con una furia infernal.
Juan corrió, pero la serpiente lo perseguía, su cuerpo moviéndose con una velocidad sorprendente. El cazador se refugió en una cueva cercana, pero la serpiente lo siguió, su cabeza introduciéndose en la oscuridad como una serpiente de fuego.
Juan se escondió en las sombras, escuchando el sonido de la serpiente que lo buscaba. Sabía que no podía escapar, que La Devoradora lo encontraría y lo mataría.
Pero entonces, recordó una historia que su abuelo le había contado sobre las serpientes del desierto. Dijo que si se les miraba fijamente a los ojos, se podía hipnotizarlas.
Juan se armó de valor y se acercó a la serpiente, mirándola fijamente a los ojos. La bestia se detuvo, su cuerpo inmóvil. Juan siguió mirando, su corazón latiendo con fuerza.
Y entonces, algo extraño sucedió. La serpiente comenzó a cambiar, su cuerpo disminuyendo de tamaño, su piel perdiendo su brillo escamoso. Sus ojos se apagaron, y su aliento ya no fue venenoso.
La Devoradora se había convertido en una serpiente normal, inofensiva. Juan se dio cuenta de que la leyenda había sido una prueba, una forma de demostrar su valentía y su inteligencia.
El cazador salió de la cueva, la serpiente a su lado. Juntos, caminaron hacia el horizonte, el sol poniente iluminando el desierto. Juan sabía que nunca olvidaría la lección que había aprendido: que a veces, el verdadero terror no es la bestia, sino el miedo que llevamos dentro.

In 1531, a "Lady from Heaven" appeared to Saint Juan Diego, a poor Indian from Tepeyac, a hill northwest of Mexico City.
She identified herself as the Mother of the True God and instructed him to have the bishop build a church on the site.
As a sign for the bishop, she left an image of herself imprinted miraculously on his tilma, a poor quality cactus-cloth.
The tilma should have deteriorated within 20 years but shows no sign of decay after over 470 years.
To this day, it defies all scientific explanations of its origin.
In the eyes of Our Lady of Guadalupe on the tilma, we can see reflected what was in front of her in 1531.
Her message of love and compassion, and her universal promise of help and protection to all mankind, as well as the story of the apparitions, are described in the "Nican Mopohua," a 16th-century document written in the native Nahuatl language.
There is reason to believe that at Tepeyac, Mary came in her glorified body.
Her actual physical hands rearranged the roses in Juan Diego’s tilma, which makes this apparition very special.
An incredible list of miracles, cures, and interventions are attributed to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Each year, an estimated 10 million people visit her Basilica, making her Mexico City home the most popular Marian shrine in the world and the most visited Catholic church in the world after Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
Science cannot explain the tilma to this day. There is no under sketch, no sizing, and no protective over-varnish on the image.
Microscopic examination revealed that there were no brush strokes.
The image seems to increase in size and change colors due to an unknown property of the surface and substance of which it is made.
According to Kodak of Mexico, the image is smooth and feels like a modern day photograph (produced 300 years before the invention of photography).
The image has consistently defied exact reproduction, whether by brush or camera.
Several images can be seen reflected in the eyes of the Virgin.
It is believed to be the images of Juan Diego, Bishop Juan de Zummaraga, Juan Gonzales-the interpreter, and others.
The distortion and place of the images are identical to what is produced in the normal eye, which is impossible to obtain on a flat surface.
The stars on Our Lady's Mantle coincide with the constellation in the sky on 12 December 1531.
All who have scientifically examined the image of Our Lady over the centuries confess that its properties are absolutely unique and so inexplicable in human terms that the image can only be supernatural.
Altogether, 24 popes have officially honored Our Lady of Guadalupe.
His Holiness Pope John Paul II visited her Sanctuary four times: on his first apostolic trip outside Rome as Pope in 1979, 1990, 1999, and 2002.
The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated on December 12.
In 1999, Pope John Paul II, in his homily given during the Solemn Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, his third visit to the sanctuary, declared the date of December the 12th as a Liturgical Holy Day for the whole continent.
During the same visit, Pope John Paul II entrusted the cause of life to her loving protection and placed under her motherly care the innocent lives of children, especially those who are in danger of not being born.

Chili extracts have been used as painkillers for centuries or longer, stretching back into the pre-Columbian era. In 1552, a pair of Mexican natives, Martín de la Cruz, a healer, and Juan Badiano, a teacher, collaborated on a guide to Aztec herbal remedies now known as the Badiano Codex. It makes extensive use of the analgesic properties of chilies. One remedy for inflamed gums was to make a compress: boil the roots of several kinds of pepper plants along with a chili paste, wrap the resulting stew in cotton, and press it against the afflicted area.
Elsewhere, native Americans rubbed hot peppers on their genitals to dull sensation and prolong their sexual pleasure—something early Spanish settlers also tried, to the dismay of prudish priests accompanying them. In nineteenth-century China, chili extracts were used as a local anesthetic for men about to be castrated to serve the emperor’s court as eunuchs.
It was capsaicin’s pain killing potential that the chemist Wilbur Scoville was trying to exploit when he developed his eponymous heat scale a century ago.

the milky sap of the resin spurge, a cactus-like plant that grows in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Moroccans slash open the plant, let the sap run out and dry, and harvest and sell the resulting resin, which contains the most powerful chemical irritant known: resiniferatoxin, or RTX for short, a form of supercapsaicin. Pure capsaicin rates at 16 million Scoville units; RTX rates at 16 billion, a thousand times hotter. Touching resin spurge sap causes severe chemical burns; swallowing more than an eyedropper full is fatal. Yet when greatly diluted, it has powerful medicinal qualities.
In the first century AD, Juba, a North African king who was married to a daughter of Marc Antony and Cleopatra, had a terrible case of constipation, and his Greek physician Euphorbus prescribed some sap that had been dried, ground up, and cut with water. (The word “spurge” derives from the French word for “purge.”) This ancient laxative worked so well that Juba named the plant “Euphorbia,” after his doctor. Centuries later, Carl Linnaeus followed suit and named this genus of plants Euphorbia, and this particular one Euphorbia resinifera. Currently Fixated on the History of Pigments (for painting)
Here are some of my favorite blurbs from This Webpage:
Cobalts - HAUNTED
A family of pigments originally derived from mineral mines in Bohemia. They were named Cobalt after the word "kobolds" - the Bohemian word for spirits or ghosts, which the miners believed inhabited the pigment and caused them difficulties.
Lead-Tin Yellow - MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEARED
Also known as "The Old Master's Yellow" for its use by Italian Renaissance masters like Raphael. A highly stable bright opaque yellow was used from around 1250 until the mid-17th century, when its use ceased abruptly for no obvious reason. Experts believe that its formula might have been lost due to the death of its producer. Very popular with Renaissance painters, who used it in foliage along with earth pigments, Lead-Tin Yellow seems to have many of the attributes of modern Cadmium Yellow, but little was known about it until the 1940s. Since then it has enjoyed a modest recovery.
Bone White - BONES
Obsolete; it was made by burning bones to a white ash. Cennino Cennini in his Il Libro dell'Arte says 'the best bones are from the second joints and wings of fowls and capons; the older they are, the better; put them into the fire just as you find them under the table.' It was used as a ground for panels.
Carmine - BUG PAINT
Used since Antiquity, Carmine is a natural organic crimson pigment/dye made from the dried bodies of the female insect Coccus cacti (Cochineal), which inhabits the prickly-pear cactus, and also from a wingless insect living on certain species of European live oaks (Kermes). The cactus insects were first heated in ovens, then dried in the sun, to produce "silver cochineal" from which the finest pigment was made. Cochineal is still made in Mexico and India.
Lapis Lazuli - BLUE
The source of the fabulous, absolutely permanent and non-toxic natural blue pigment Ultramarine, the precious stone Lapis Lazuli is found in Central Asia, notably Afghanistan. It was employed in Ancient times as a simple ground up mineral (Lapis Lazuli or Lazuline Blue) with weak colour power. Then Persian craftsmen discovered a means of extracting the colouring agent, creating at a stroke a hugely important art material. Ultramarine arrived in Venice on Arab boats, during the Renaissance, and was named the pigment from overseas ("ultra marine"). Such was its brilliance that it rapidly attained a price that only princes and large wealthy religious organizations could afford it.
Maya Blue - LOST RECIPE
A highly resilient bright blue to greenish-blue pigment, developed by the Maya and Aztec cultures of pre-Columbian art in Mesoamerica. It is a composite of organic and inorganic compounds, notably indigo dye from the Indigofera suffruticosa plants. Originating at the beginning of the 9th century CE, it was in use as late as the 16th century in Mexico, in the paintings of the Indian Juan Gerson. It survived in Cuba until the 19th century.

December 12th is La Fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe celebrating an apparition of The Goddess in the guise of Maria Mother of Jesus to an Indigenous man in Mexico named Cuauhtlatoatzin- and dubbed Juan Diego by Catholics. The Holy Mother’s words spoken in native Nahuatl to a humble Aztec man on the slopes of Tepeyac, the very site of the destroyed Aztec temple of Earth Goddess Tonantzin, bolstered the spirit of a brutalized population that yet persists through continued colonization today, allowing original peoples of Mexico to continue ancient traditions and pass knowledge through generations under the mantle of Her protection as a disguise. 🌹
The miraculous vision of Guadalupe that appeared upon Juan Diego/Talking Eagle’s tilma is often seen as a self portrait by Her and there are many analyses of the visual element’s encoding of Aztec symbolism. I took these theories and insights into consideration while creating this goddess vision as commissioned by chingona @sharpsweetbella
I chose a blue background to parallel Her starry mantle of heaven and also represent Lake Texcoco since the eagle, snake, and cactus from its story of the founding of ancient Mexico there are present. 💙🌵
Tonantzin (a Nahuatl term similar to “Our Lady”) in various forms is frequently depicted with eagle feet so I thought it appropriate to have the legendary golden eagle clutch the silvery moon below Her in place of Guadalupe’s cherub 🦅 🌙 Tonantzin is often known, by many names, to wear a skirt of snakes- the celestial Aztec earth mother Coatlicue’s particular name translates to “She of Snake Skirts”. So I couldn’t help but see the snake emerge from the opening in Her folds here. Frequently in Aztec art snakes emerging from or replacing body parts represents blood so I feel a menstrual element from how the snake manifested in this vision 🐍 🩸
