Another Great Comeback by Jordi Torres in Second Race in France
29.09.2019 – Jordi Torres rode well in each WorldSBK race at Magny Cours today to score points despite starting from the last row of the grid each time. The Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions WorldSBK rider is 11th in the championship with two rounds remaining.
In the first race of the final day in France, the ten-lap Tissot-Superpole ‘sprint’, Torres scored a point for 15th place after starting from 20th position – due to the wet Superpole qualifying session on Saturday.
In the 21-lap Race Two, the last of three French races in all, Torres found improved pace in the longer contest and finished a confidence-boosting tenth, despite having used up a lot of his best front tyre performance moving through the field.
Jordi felt he could have competed for one more position if he had more front tyre grip to use, but even then his tenth place today saw him 11th overall, just five points behind the rider immediately in front.
Next up for the Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions WorldSBK squad is the first of two flyway races that will finish off the season. The 12th round will be held at the Villicum circuit in Argentina, between 11 and 13 October.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “This morning the race was fast and we tried to catch a good pace. We found it but it was not enough to go far ahead, and we finished 15th. I think this morning we looked for the limit. The long races are better for us because we can adjust the bike to suit long distance races, and we improved a lot in Race Two. We started P20 and finished P10 – that is not bad. I tried to make a fight with Camier in the last few laps but I think we ‘ate’ the tyre too much on the front.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Manager: “It was a difficult weekend because yesterday in Superpole it was bad conditions for Jordi so he left the grid from the last position, But, he did a good race today and finished tenth, so it was not so bad. We hope to improve in Argentina.”

What does the future have in store for Jordi Torres?
The Team Pedercini Racing rider points out the progress made in the Portimao test and reveals his plans for the future!
After two intense days of testing at the Algarve International Autodrome, Jordi Torres took stock on Sunday afternoon of the work done on the Portuguese track aboard the ZX-10RR of Team Pedercini Racing. The Catalan rider recovered his feeling with his bike after almost a month and a half without getting on the Kawasaki and, more importantly, he was able to improve his set-up, already thinking about the resumption of the championship at Portimao in two weeks.
"These two days of testing have gone very well, they were very necessary to get back in touch with the bike and feel the adrenaline again," said the motorcyclist from Rubí. "We also had in mind many things that we had left at Laguna Seca, so this has been useful to clarify some ideas we had in our heads and try them out."
"In principle, our goal was to find some more support in the front train, and in the end, we have succeeded," says Torres, who concluded the test in 14th best time of the group, just over a second from the fastest. “At the end of the day, we would have liked to have a better time, but in a matter of pace I think we are quite good. We have perhaps lacked to finish solving the rear train, there we need to find a little more adhesion.”
About to face the final leg of the 2019 course, there are many WorldSBK pilots who have already announced their plans for next season. Torres, who started his partnership with the team at the beginning of this year, is already clear about its destination in 2020.
"Pedercini and I are going to be together, because I am very happy with them... and I hope they are very happy with me," Torres says. “We are taking leaps and bounds forward. This year we have started a project from scratch, and it is a very nice road, I am very comfortable here, they’re lovely people and it works very well. We have a lot to do if we want to reach a certain level, but they are logical steps and I am very happy to grow with them.”
"This year we have started a project thinking about working for next year," continues the 31-year-old. "For the next rounds, our idea is to be much more competitive and always be in the top six or seven in a normal way, which is not a matter of luck. For this to happen, the team has to work with a material that must arrive in due time. And we must be prepared professionally and organisationally to keep up. It is a matter of time before this arrives, it will be sooner or later, but it is nice to see how the project is flourishing and to be involved in it.”

Top six for Torres: ‘Spanish Elvis’ shines in the United States!
Taking a first top six in over a season, Jordi Torres’ is back in the mix at the sharp end of the WorldSBK field after Race 1 at Laguna Seca!
With his best result of the season, Jordi Torres (Team Pedercini Racing) had a big reason to smile at Laguna Seca – not that he ever needs one. The ‘Spanish Elvis’ powered into the top five for the most of Race 1 before being pipped in the closing stages by Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha WorldSBK Team). And not for the first time this season, Torres was top Spaniard, as his fellow countryman Alvaro Bautista (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati) crashed from third on Lap 5.
Having started from sixth on the grid and as top Independent, Torres found himself right in the thick of the action on the opening lap, jostling with the likes of Toprak Razgatlioglu (Turkish Puccetti Racing) and Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team). As the race pace upped, Torres was looking strong for a top five result before rear tyre grip dropped away, forcing the Spaniard to make a mistake of which Lowes capitalised on.
Happy about his return to the top six, Torres said: “The weekend has not been bad, because we started yesterday in FP1 and FP2 with some difficulties. But we started to understand the things we need to change and today, the things we changed proved to be good and shows that we went in the correct direction. I did not learn much in the final stages of the race because I have no rear tyre left!”
It is the first time that Torres has finished inside the top six of a WorldSBK race since Race 2 at Imola in 2018, whilst making it the fourth different manufacturer he has achieved this with. Torres also keeps his good form up in the United States, with all but one race (when he suffered a DNF in Race 2 2017) seeing the Spaniard inside the top ten.
Looking ahead to the 10-lap Tissot Superpole Race on Sunday, he said: “In the shorter races, everyone goes faster and not just me! So, we can use a softer tyre but also, it will last until the end. I think I need to work more on when the tyre is used and tomorrow, we will change more. Hopefully, one day, I will learn this!”
The charismatic Spaniard lies 12th in the standings but with his best result of the season, will seek his first back-to-back top six finishes since Race 2 at Buriram and Race 1 at MotorLand Aragon, back in 2017 for BMW.

Wet weather holds back Jordi Torres' early progress in France
27.09.2019 – Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions WorldSBK rider Jordi Torres found damp and then fully wet weather conditions in the first two Free Practice sessions at Magny Cours. He finished his opening day in a safe 16th place overall, after being 12th in the fully wet second session.
The final European round of the 2019 season always offers up the possibility of wet weather conditions and that was the case today at Magny Cours, in the 11th round of the FIM Superbike World Championship.
The first session, held in damp conditions, saw Torres set 17 laps to gauge track conditions and machine set-up on the damp track.
Finishing up 16th in those early ‘half-and-half’ conditions, with the track slowly drying out, Torres would remain there in the combined times but go 12th fastest in the fully wet second session.
Technical staff in the Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions squad will now make a provisional plan for a wet opening race on Saturday, but also make solid preparations for the dry track conditions that are expected to arrive on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday there is a short FP3 session before Tissot-Superpole and then a 21-lap opening race, to be flagged off at 14.00hrs on Saturday afternoon, local time. Two more races, the ten-lap Tissot-Superpole sprint and then the second 21-lap race, will take place on Sunday 29th September.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “Today I just tried to get some confidence in the wet and not much more. It was one of those days where it is easy to take a risk and go faster – or crash. So we did not do so many laps, just took some confidence and found a set-up for the wet conditions. We hope there will be better weather conditions tomorrow but if we have rain we will use the new rain tyre, which the Pirelli technicians say is better. Right now when you release the brake and enter the corner the bike feels very neutral and in this part it is easy to slide the rear on corner entry, even without braking. We need to try to solve just one or two things if it is wet tomorrow."
Lucio Pedercini – Team Manager: “It was absolutely correct to be careful today and not to crash because the weather forecast for the rest of the weekend is better – we hope this is true. We know that Jordi is not his best in wet conditions so with better weather supposed to be coming we did not want him to take a risk today, to be ready for tomorrow. Today was a strange one so we did not want to risk a crash for nothing. In WorldSSP Kyle made the fastest lap in FP2, in the full wet. He had a small problem this morning but they solved it. Ayrton made only two or three laps in FP2 and went well in the morning. Both our riders are very good in the wet. We will see what happens tomorrow."

11th place in Race 1 after strong Superpole for Jordi Torres at Portimao
07.09.2019 – Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions Kawasaki competitor Jordi Torres enjoyed the status of top independent Kawasaki rider in the Tissot-Superpole competition before racing to 11th place in the first full race of the Portimao weekend.
Seventh place in Superpole was a positive boost to Jordi’s race one ambitions but a troubled start saw him go to 12th after just one lap. He rode on as hard as he could, experiencing some front end issues as he had on day one, and finished 11th.
In hot conditions Jordi and the team had opted to use the SCX rear tyre – somewhere between a race tyre and a qualifier – to see if it could help their ultimate performance over race distance.
On lap seven Jordi moved up one place as early podium-placed rider Tom Sykes fell, and Torres kept his pace up to finish 11th, just 0.215 seconds behind Michael Ruben Rinaldi.
Torres has two more chances to shine after making some set-up changes overnight, as he faces a ten-lap Tissot-Superpole race on Sunday morning and then a second 20-lap Race Two in the afternoon.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “Superpole was not bad but we did not have too much pace this weekend so far. I was lucky on Superpole because we did the fast laps behind Haslam and this helped me a lot. But we knew did not quite have the pace of some guys around me. Also we tried the SCX tyre, in the rear, to see what would happen with that. Finally we learned that it was a good tyre but we had some problems with the front, similar to we had on day one”.
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “It was a very bad start for Jordi and then it was very difficult for him to overtake other riders like Rinaldi. We were happy after finishing seventh in Superpole this morning and now we hope for something better than today’s result in the races on Sunday”.

Season restarts for Jordi Torres and Team Pedercini Racing at Portimão
06.09.2019 – Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions rider Jordi Torres took part in the first two free practice sessions at the Portuguese round of the WorldSBK Championship today, as the series returned to competitive action after the long summer break.
The sunny re-start in Portugal saw track temperatures rise throughout the day at a venue the entire Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions squad had tested at only two weeks before.
Compared to the track conditions evident at the tests Torres found a very different level of feel and feedback from the circuit in the first Free Practice session today. He was unfortunate to fall early on, losing valuable track time as his bike was repaired.
In FP2, despite the hotter track temperatures that reduced outright grip in the afternoon, Jordi went on to set his fastest lap of the day and ended up 15th overall.
On Saturday there is one more FP3 session before Tissot-Superpole, and finally a 20-lap opening race at 14.00hrs on Saturday afternoon, local time. Two more races, the ten-lap Tissot-Superpole sprint and then the second full distance race, will take place on Sunday 8 September.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “After our recent test at Portimao it has been difficult so far this weekend because I felt a different bike underneath me. I think it was because last week they had cars running on the track and they have maybe laid down different rubber. It was difficult with the front because when I tried to enter the corners it is easy to make a little mistake and have a crash. It was very easy to do this. Today we tried to put back the same performance on the bike that we had in the test but in the afternoon I understood that we need to be able to find another way to find the same performance We will work for this tomorrow."
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “We went back into full race mode today but the crash in the second lap this morning was not so good for our preparations. This afternoon it became very hot but the ultimate performance was better. We will work again to find more improvements tomorrow before race one in the afternoon."

Best weekend yet for Jordi Torres and Team Pedercini Racing in Laguna Seca
14.07.2019 – At the end of a rewarding weekend of racing in the USA Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions and WorldSBK rider Jordi Torres left with three strong points scores, and the best result so far in a single race.
After Torres finished sixth in Race One on Saturday, for his and the team’s best showing all season, Sunday’s offered two WorldSBK races, – one planned over ten laps and then a final full 25-lap race.
In the opening Sunday contest, held under clear skies, the Tissot Superpole race had to be stopped and restarted after a crash involving two riders on the entry to The Corkscrew. Torres got going in a race for the second time in 20 minutes and after the eventual eight-lap race he finished eighth, and only 0.114 seconds from seventh place.
The Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions staff were determined to put on a final good display before the start of the long summer break. Eighth place in Race Two delivered more valuable championship points and the third strong Laguna Seca race in succession for all involved.
Now Jordi is 12th in the overall standings but only three points from tenth place after a positive weekend at the undulating and intense 3.660km long circuit located between Monterey and Salinas in California.
Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions will now have a break in full race action until Portimao early September, but a two-day test at that same venue in late August will restart their preparations for the final four rounds of the year. It will also allow evaluation of development and set-up ideas away from the pressures of trying to score championship points.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “The weekend has been not bad because we were always inside the top ten but maybe today we had some difficulties. In the short race, for example, I made a bad start in the second restart. In the short races this is the most important thing. I could not overtake Loris Baz and also lost Lowes and Haslam at the start. In Race Two I started well but we had some problems with the front; I do not know why. We used the same tyre, the same pressure, the same things, but it tried to close the front on corner exits. It was difficult to manage this. I tried to change my riding style to use the rear tyre more but I think everybody found the rear on the limit. Our best weekend I think and we are quite happy to start our ‘holidays’ this way. We were very constant and the results were there.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “We are happy today and we tried to improve all weekend. Jordi, race by race, is learning more. He must change his style a little bit, step-by-step. That process is beginning to work, for sure. Now there is the summer break and we will try some more things in the tests at Portimao, in August. We want to try some different things and also let Jordi make more steps to be even closer. But for sure we are happy with this round, our best of the year.”

Excellent sixth for Jordi Torres and Team Pedercini Racing in Laguna Seca
13.07.2019 – Jordi Torres and his Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions Kawasaki team found set-up improvements today that allowed Jordi to compete with some top official riders and take a season best sixth place in Race One at Laguna Seca.
Before the challenge of a 25-lap race one Torres had to prove that the machine set-up changes made by his technical crew overnight would work well and he did this in some style. He was seventh in combined practice after FP3 this morning and then qualified sixth in Superpole at the intense and undulating 3.660km long circuit in California.
After the green light in Race One Torres was a confident sixth and then fifth after Alvaro Bautista crashed out. Jordi was closing in on Tom Sykes for fourth at one point but eventually he had to drop his pace as his rear tyre had given its best.
Jordi was only caught in the final five laps by the official Yamaha of Alex Lowes, and eventually finished sixth – the best result of the year so far, and achieved in a long race held in warm and dry conditions.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “Today was not bad and at this kind of track, where the corners are very close together, we are at not too much of a disadvantage. In the final practice session we made some good adjustments to be more or less fast in the race. We were fast in FP3 and Superpole as well. The direction we worked in was very good so in the end this great result was for the mechanics and the team more than for the rider. During the race I need to learn to be faster when the rear grip starts to drop, I do not ride so too well when that happens. I need to change my lines to have more performance on the exits but we took away a lot of information for tomorrow. We will see how we are after tomorrow’s races but we are happy, we have to be happy today!”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “The best race of the year for us, so we are happy, especially because the morning practice session and Superpole were also good. Maybe now we have to find something more for the end of the race, with the rear tyre performance. So tomorrow we will try to do a little step more, but today we are happy – absolutely! Well done to everyone in the team.”

Jordi Torres 10th on day one for Team Pedercini Racing at Laguna Seca
13.07.2019 – A strong top ten start for the WorldSBK branch of the Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions squad in the USA saw Jordi Torres tenth fastest in qualifying after the opening two track sessions on Friday 12 July.
At the intense 3.660km circuit in California Torres was less than one second from the pace of the fastest rider, Chaz Davies, even though he knows there is still more to come once an optimal set-up is achieved.
The Laguna Seca circuit is a tricky one for all to take on, featuring some profound elevation changes, none more so than The Corkscrew corner. On the entry riders have to brake hard from the highest point on the track, heel left over a sharp drop and then turn immediately right as the track falls away to the next corner in dramatic fashion.
Looking for more agility while retaining stability in corner entry in FP3 tomorrow, Torres is also working to find the ideal line into some of the corners to set a strong Superpole lap. This will ensure he gets into a good grid position before Race One starts at 14.00hrs on Saturday 13 July.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “Today was not so bad but we have some adjustments to do on the bike and we just need more laps to resolve this. In general it is not bad because we have a good race pace but we need to do one fast lap to push to the front and stay more or less with the top guys. Also to be able to learn about their riding styles because I think the fastest guys maybe do some different lines than me, for example in The Corkscrew. Maybe I have to understand what the fast line is there. We need one fast lap for Superpole tomorrow. In general I would like the bike to be more manoeuvrable.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “Inside the top ten is a good place to start and as Jordi says, there is still more potential to get even closer to the top riders. It has been a busy time for us getting to America after just a few days since the last round in the UK, but the team is working well. We have started in a positive way and we will look for even more improvements tomorrow.”

Ninth for Jordi Torres in Donington Sprint Race and Another DNF in Race 2
07.07.2019 – With two opportunities to score points for his Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions squad on Sunday at Donington Park Jordi Torres was able to take his first chance and finished ninth in the Tissot Superpole race.
After starting from 11th on the grid Torres was in tenth place when a red flag was throw in the ‘sprint’ race. Several riders fell on a oil spill but Jordi stayed upright and was finally classified ninth after one rider was excluded for not getting back to the pits within the allotted time. Instead of the scheduled ten laps the race was officially ended after only seven.
The finale to the weekend was over too soon for Jordi and the Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions staff as a technical issue going into Turn 11 on lap one of Race Two saw Jordi have to come into the pits and eventually retire from the race.
After a dry-wet-dry weekend in England, Jordi scored a point in Saturday’s wet opening 23-lap race, and he sits in an unchanged overall 12th position as the championship heads to America for the final round before the summer break.
Laguna Seca, with its hills and challenging sectors, is the next stop for Jordi and the WorldSBK wing of the Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions racing effort. The American race weekend will take place between 12 and 14 July, with no competitive track action after that point until the Portimao race, to be held between 6 and 8 September.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “In the short race we fought with other riders and I had fun, but on those two final laps I could have fought for another position. In the main Race Two we were only able to make one lap. We had an unexpected problem, a pity because it had started well and I had found a good place in the race. We are already thinking about Laguna Seca. Maybe it’s a circuit that can give us an advantage because I feel very good with the set-up of the bike”.
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “Top ten and points in the Sprint race was not so bad because some others were caught up in the oil spill. It could have been a very good result for Jordi and us in the final race but we were unlucky as there was a problem with an ignition coil, we think”.

Unlucky crash for Jordi Torres Torres in wet opening race at Donington
06.07.2019 – Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions Kawasaki rider Jordi Torres was on schedule for a top ten finish in the opening race of the Donington Park weekend until he suffered a highside on the wet asphalt. Jordi regained control after his near crash but was forced to run off track and then unavoidably fall on the wet grass.
Friday at Donington had been very hot by local standards but today the rains appeared, making Tissot-Superpole a particularly difficult session, held on a slowly drying track surface that changed character and grip throughout.
With the weather conditions altering frequently on Saturday, the opening 23-lap race of the weekend was finally held in wet conditions, with all riders on heavily grooved Pirelli tyres. Torres eased himself into what was a tricky race for all, with three big name fallers and only 14 finishers.
On lap ten Jordi’s rear tyre lost traction while he was negotiating the exit of turn six. He regained control as he landed back on his machine but by then his Ninja ZX-10RR was heading for the slick grass runoff area. After his inevitable fall Jordi bashed his left hip as he landed hard and his bike was too damaged to restart.
Although without points today the Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions squad now has two more chances to get on the score sheet on Sunday 7 July. Torres faces a ten-lap Tissot-Superpole race and then a second 23-lap full race in the afternoon, after morning warm-up.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “Superpole was very critical because I think we maybe ran too many laps with wet tyres and after that we had only limited time with the dry tyres. In the end we did one lap and maybe that was not enough to do a great Superpole time. We started race one from the fourth row, which is not really bad. In the race I felt good, in the sense that I had more or less enough pace to match Michael van der Mark or feel OK to overtake Toprak Razgatlioglu. But I had this little high side, while opening the throttle, but I landed back on the bike. By then the only line I could take was to go to the green and eventually I had a little crash. Tomorrow can be better for us because it should be dry again. Then we can continue with our set-up progression and maybe try some things that we could not work with in the dry yet.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “The rain today changed everything and it was a difficult track surface to ride on. Eleventh for Jordi in Superpole meant a fourth row start, before he was forced off track and then fell. Tomorrow it should be dry so it will be a very different day in all ways, we hope.”

Sunny start for Jordi Torres and Team Pedercini Racing at Donington Park
05.07.2019 A bright start for Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions WorldSBK rider Jordi Torres saw him sixth after FP1 at Donington Park, and finally end the opening day tenth, after the completion of FP2.
In pleasantly warm and dry conditions Torres was well on the early pace at a circuit he rates as one of his favourites, but is also one of the more challenging on the 13-round championship trail.
The track features a main section with significant changes of elevation and relatively fast corners, while the final section needs almost a completely different bike set-up to handle the heavy braking and slow hairpin corners.
Jordi was only 0.750 seconds from the fastest rider Tom Sykes after the first two free practice sessions, but both he and the Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions WorldSBK staff know there is still more to come if they can find an ideal set-up in FP3 on Saturday morning.
The Donington track itself has undergone some resurfacing in a few areas compared to last year. After a warm opening day in England the track temperatures in FP2 climbed to 43°C, adding another unexpected factor into the pre-race preparations.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “Not bad today because this is a special track. I enjoyed it a lot because it is magical, but it is difficult. Also, in this championship there are a lot of British guys that ride like demons! But it has not been bad for us today. This afternoon we tried some different set-ups to understand which direction we have to work in to reach out set-up goals. We did not ‘catch’ what we wanted but tomorrow in FP3 we will start with another set-up and try another way based on our data from today.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “I am happy – especially about this morning – but also this afternoon when Jordi started quickly in the session and gave us very good feedback. Now we will work to be ready for the first race on Saturday. We will test something different on the bike and we hope to find something more for tomorrow. We missed out just a little bit and we want to close that gap to be ready for Race One.”

Jordi Torres scores more good points on Day-3 at Misano
23.06.2019 – In warm and dry conditions that contrasted with Saturday’s fully wet race, Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions WorldSBK rider Jordi Torres battled in the mid pack twice today and scored a top ten finish in the second full distance event.
In the first Sunday race, the Tissot Superpole contest held over only ten laps, Torres felt a lack of push while exiting corners. This meant he could not use the full potential of the Pirelli SCX tyre, designed for this year’s innovation of a ‘sprint’ race that takes place each Sunday morning. He was 11th this morning.
In the final race of the weekend, over a full 21-laps, Torres was happier with some adjustments his team had made to his machine. They allowed him to ride with more confidence and feeling from his Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions Ninja ZX-10RR and he finished tenth.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “In the short Superpole race we were in a little difficulty because with less power we can use the rear tyre less. You have half as many laps as a normal race so ideally you have to use the rear tyre twice as hard. Sometimes we do not have enough push to use the rear tyre 100%. In this morning’s race we were not too happy with the result but we gained some valuable information. In the second main race in the afternoon we tried some different set-ups, even with the throttle response, so it was more connected with my hand. It is better for me because my feeling is more powerful. The power is the same but I feel it more, and I feel happier.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “We finished all the races this weekend no matter the conditions. Jordi is braking hard and entering the corners well but in other areas it was more difficult for us. He scored well in the second race and we are only two points from the rider in front in the championship standings. We go to Donington ready to race again.”

Jordi Torres scores points in weather-affected first race in Misano
22.06.2019 — Jordi Torres took his Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions Kawasaki to 11th place on the grid after a dry Tissot-Superpole qualifying at Misano, and ended up 12th in a fully wet Race One.
After rain had arrived overnight, and continued more lightly in the morning, Superpole qualifying was still held in dry conditions at the 4.226km circuit in Italy. Thunder, lighting and eventually heavy rain arrived at an inopportune time, making the first of three attempted races a ‘wet’ event.
The rains came on very heavily at times, stopping one attempt at running the race after only a few laps and reducing Race One to an 18-lap contest, not the planned 21. In all there were three tries at starting race one, which got underway just over an hour later than scheduled.
On track Jordi made up one place in each of the first three laps, but eventually got involved in a six rider fight. Ninth after 12 laps, he remained in that position until a drop in grip from the rear entering corners saw him finish 12th at the flag.
As well as the points he gathered in this race, which keep him 11th overall in the championship, Torres and his technical crew gained great experience in truly wet race conditions for the first time.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider:
“Full wet tyres today! I ended up in a big fight with many riders. I do not now why but in the last few laps we had a little problem with traction on the rear tyre. It was difficult to enter corners because did not have too much grip. I felt that the front tyre was able to do more than the rear could. It felt easy to a highside on the entry of the corner. That was the biggest problem we had. We hope for better weather tomorrow but we are relatively happy because this is the first time for us racing in the rain. Fighting for seventh to 12th position is not that bad a group to be in and we did not expect this before the race. We gained some valuable experience for the future.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner:
“It was a tricky Race One with so many planned starts in the wet conditions. The weather was always changing but the track was wet all the time. It was good to see Jordi fighting in the big group that developed during the race but finishing at the front of it would have been our ideal target. We will investigate his rear traction issue in the wet conditions but at least we took away some good experience and data in these conditions – and some more points.”

Grip Issue for Jordi Torres on First Day in Misano
21.06.2019 – In what is a second and final home round of the 2019 season for Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions, Jordi Torres finished up 14th overall after two WorldSBK Free Practice sessions held in high temperatures at Misano.
Torres, who is now halfway through his first season with the Team Pedercini Racing by Global Service Solutions WorldSBK squad, could not find enough rear drive grip in FP1 and FP2 to challenge inside the top ten today.
Jordi was to finish 14th from 22 riders, as he also found the lack of rear traction during corner entry held back his ideal lines when exiting the many consecutive corners at Misano. At 4.226km long Misano is one of the shortest and most intense on the calendar, even before the effects of the high summer sun lifted track temperatures to almost 50°C on Friday afternoon.
There is one more FP3 session to take part in before Superpole qualifying on Saturday at 11am, followed by the first 21-lap race of the weekend at 14.00hrs. As is now routine for the teams and riders, Sunday will host two races; one ten-lap Superpole Race and then the second full distance event, again starting at 14.00hrs.
Jordi Torres #81 – Rider: “I felt we did not have enough rear grip today. We could not enjoy the potential of our engine as we could not put the power to the ground and drive forward. Our issue was that when I touched the throttle the bike started to slide. I found this happening until I could pick up the bike completely and go straight. That did not allow us to push forward. Maybe in these hot conditions it is worse, because I started to slide too early. We are working to overcome this problem. Another thing we need to work on tomorrow is the corner entry. In these conditions we have a lot of movement from the rear in corner entry and it is difficult to have enough precision to calculate the exit line well. We will see how we go after we make some changes tomorrow.”
Lucio Pedercini – Team Owner: “In hot track conditions at Misano we worked to try and give Jordi more grip from the rear of the bike. That and some other aspects of set-up are still a work in progress. But I am confident that the changes we will make tonight will give us some improvements in FP3 tomorrow, enough to allow Jordi to compete well in the first race on Saturday.”
