Did everyone else (anyone at all) know that the J. Peterman catalog is very real and as insane as they make it seem on Seinfeld?

A sample:

Raining today in LA but I made it through the Rose Bowl Flea Market unscathed. Here’s a #PTOMan shot in my office parking lot. Well, this is a throwback; why am I getting this now? It used to be delivered to my dad’s house when I was a kid; am I now the target demographic? Or does Mr. Peterman know that I can recall his presence [invisible, I believe] as Elaine’s boss [Seinfeld]? Did he go away for a couple of decades [a harrowing yet elegant expedition to the earth’s outer reaches, no doubt] and just wash up on some posh shoreline? He’s still spinning the same yarn of an origin story—that coat must be in tatters by now. I blush reading the copy because it is soooooo SO. Just SO. Wildly outdated, immoderately self-promoting and seething with snobbery. Perhaps Mr. Peterman is acquainted with irony as a literary device. But I’m not so sure. Next time you have three hours to thumb through a clothing catalog, take a look and tell me: What do you think of J.
