God, your detective Asgore makes me happy I got back into reading thriller mystery books. What was your inspo for that AU?

AHHHH! EPIC TMDG ASK! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY!

Firstly, the reason I was even inspired to write a serial killer fic in the first place was after reading a very fun fic titled "Knives & Blood, & me + You" by @missraindancer. I absolutely loved the first chapter. Definitely recommend that fic if you want something like a snuff thriller. It's giving campy 80s slasher and has a lot of Sans POVs, which I'll admit, did take away from the suspense but he has some funny commentary, and there's a charm to it when you go into the fic expecting more of a "Scream" movie and not "Hannibal."

That being said, the fic DID get me back into watching more serial killer related things like "Silence of the Lambs" - which is the BIGGEST inspiration for TMDG. I even named Frisk after Clarisse, that's how big of an inspiration the movie is to me.

I'm honestly so glad you like Detective Asgore, that was a last minute decision I made! At first he was going to be the Commissioner and the detective working with Frisk was another human... then I realized, wow, these are a lot of humans, and Frisk and Asgore's F/D relationship is getting lost in the weeds! So it was like... a day before I published? When I just changed all of that hahaha, and now he's like, one of my favorite characters so look at that! I would say Asgore is heavily inspired design wise by Jim Gordon.

Undertale Toriel - She's not too sure how she ended there, but now she is kinda stuck in the middle of the crowd so she guesses she's a part of it now? She's more concerned about all these young people walking in the street topless. Don't you know it's still cold outside? You're all going to be sick! What if it rains? She learns a lot of things about nonbinary people though and keeps taking notes to report to Frisk as soon as she gets home :')

Undertale Asgore - He just had a bunch of rainbow flowers in front of his shop and somehow now his shop is invaded by young people who kept congratulating him for some reason and he has no flowers anymore after an hour. He's a bit in shock and confused, but, eh, at least his business is working! He's still not sure what happened though.

Undertale Undyne - She's having fun, both proudly representing lesbians and scaring the shit out of any queerphobe guy too close to her. She has Alphys on her shoulders the whole time and even takes breaks to get out of the crowd when her lizard wife is too overwhelmed.

Undertale Alphys - So many people... She's holding for dear life to Undyne, but slowly relaxes as the day goes on, as Undyne makes sure to let her breathe from time to time when she's too overwhelmed. Eventually, Alphys even starts talking to some people and finds another lesbian scientist and they end the day talking excitingly about nerd things while their girlfriends sympathize.

Undertale Frisk - They're both here to represent genderless people and queer monsters! Frisk has to do a lot of speeches during the day. They're the one everyone sends when journalists ask too many questions as Frisk is trained to answer most of them. Frisk is excited they can help their way and make things move because they're a little bit of a celebrity now.

Undertale Chara - They're following Frisk around, being the second prince(ss) of Monsterkind but Chara refuses all interactions with other humans. They clearly stated they're here to support monsters during pride month, not the others. They're hissing at every journalist or giving death glare, letting Frisk handle everything.

Undertale Mettaton - He's an official guest of the pride and he's performing all day to support his fellow queer people. He's having fun, everyone is calling him a trans icon and he could never get bored of all the attention.

Undertale Gaster - What... What's going on? He wanted to go to the grocery stores. And now he's in the middle of a crowd. With his groceries. And people are drawing random flags on his bones? And somehow he's too confused to say no? Gaster is completely lost. Can he go home now?

Undertale Grillby - He's making sure everyone stays hydrated and well-fed. He cooked a lot for the pride and he has his own Grillby's float where everyone can come and buy food during the walk. He's also watching his niece, walking with the lesbians like 10 meters in front of him. He's multitasking!

Undertale Muffet - She's mad because Grillby has a float and hers got refused. So she's selling her pastries at the foot of Grillby's float, trying to steal his clients lol. Sure, all that she sells technically goes to the same association Grillby's sales are going, but still! She will sell more than him! Her ego can't take it!

Undertale Burgerpants - He's hiding from Mettaton in Grillby's float, making himself busy by helping the fireman because he can't stand the idea of staying an entire day next to Mettaton. It's not that bad though. He keeps flirting with gay people so he's having fun! At least until he flirted too much with a guy already married and got chased by the husband across the entire parade.

Undertale Flowey - Well he can't really participate since, you know, he has no legs. So he's insulting homophobes from the window. He even throws himself from the balcony after he saw someone insult Chara and then he bit their ankles like an enraged chihuahua.

Undertale Gerson - He's only there to show all these stupid Karen that old boomers understand what being queer means and that they have no excuse to be queerphobic. He painted his shell with flags so he's visible from far away!

(Undertale AU) Earthsecret (a.k.a Generation Swap)

I know some else had an AU called Earthsecret but I wanna draw attention to the word HAD. Anyways. Earthsecret! An cool name for what is basically Undertale Generation Swap.  The premise is simple, every main character swaps with some one close to them that´s from a past generation. For example, the current royal scientist, Alphys, swaps with the past royal scientist W.D Gaster, and so on with others, ofc, there are some odd balls for some choices but they are there because they have connections with the role of the character they are now in. 

Roles:

Frisk <-> Kris  (reason: they are both the protagonists in Toby Fox´s games and have a close relation with the Dremurr and Hoilday families)  Flowey <-> Noelle´s Angel Doll (Reason: Because Asriel <-> Noelle, ofc) Toriel <-> Rudy (Reason: They are both very close with the respective children of their families fulfilling the role of the caretaker and housekeeper)  Napstablook <-> Seam (This one is the first odd ball in the bunch. Reason: They both have a nihilistic careless nature and because the mini bosses swap with the secret bosses) Sans <-> Grampa Semi (Reason: Semi is implied to be Sans and Papyrus´ grampa, I based him on Sans and Paps´beta design. He´s a  journalist and detective for hire) Papyrus <-> Muttler (Doge) (Reason: Even if this one doesn´t make much sense I choose to swap Paps with this world´s first canine unit member and current protector of snowdin) Undyne <-> Gerson (Reason: Gerson was the past Royal Guard captain, it makes sense that Him and Undyne would swap)  Mad Dummy <-> Jevil (Third weird swap. Reason: They both share a ballistic erratic nature and also a relation with the person in Napstablook´s role) Alphys <-> Gaster (Reason: Gaster was the royal scientist before he was shatter between time and space. Now he´s alive and Alphys fell in the CORE) The Amalgamates <-> The Gaster Followers (Reason: Because Alphys <-> Gaster, ofc) MTT <-> Spamton (Now this one makes a lot of sense taking in mind the previous mini bosses swap and Gaster´s role.  I won´t elaborate much, you can make an image in your mind) Asgore <-> Mayor C. (Reason: They both share a powerful and politic position in their respective game, where, they are both closed and moor the loss of a child of theirs)  Asriel <-> Noelle (Reason: They both have an important role in their respective games narrative and even if it would have more sense to choose Dess for this, I think Noelle is better) Chara <-> Dess (Reason: Both mysterious meta characters on their respective narratives. We know so fewer of them and that is enough for me to swap them. They are the cursed kids of their families)

here’s my other superhero for the au by @thelunarsystemwrites! [2/2]

Meet Time Kid, a young superhero who loves to help people.

His civilian identity is Sans [REDACTED], a 7th grade student that admires all superheroes and who is fortunate enough to be one. He’s quite the celebrity at his middle school for it.

LORE, STATS, AND MORE:

Sans [REDACTED] was raised a normal kid, but there was one thing that always stood with him, and that was the superheroes in the city. He saw them, flying high, protecting civilians, defeating the bad guys, and he knew that one day, he wanted to be one.

His dad, Gaster, is a scientist. He continuously begged him to make him some sort of superpower, but his pleas didn’t work, as his father insisted it was far too risky. Obviously, being a child, he didn’t take no for an answer. So, he snuck into his dad’s lab, dabbling with his equipment and previous projects. He stumbled across an older experiment, a blue serum on the inside of a fridge labeled in a language he couldn’t understand. He activated the serum with his magic, causing a reaction that broke the glass vial it was contained in and the contents mixing with his own magic. At first, it hurt, burning the inside of his bones, but after a few hours, the stinging sensation went away, and he found a new power— time manipulation.

He hadn’t heard of a real superhero with the ability to manipulate time before, so he was overjoyed when he accidentally made a paper airplane stop in mid air during class. He practiced his magic until he decided it would be safe enough to use in a real situation.

One day, when getting groceries with his dad, he noticed an attack. A supervillain attack, in real time. He didn’t recognize the villain, but he knew he had to help. He dropped the bag he was holding and quickly teleported into the scene, despite his father’s demands for him to stop.

After what seemed like an exhausting fight, he triumphed, though with a few cracked bones. The next thing he knew, he was swarmed with reporters and journalists, shocked that someone of his age defeated an adult villain. He gleamed with pride, incredibly excited until his father dragged him from the crowd, furious. He had a very long lecture for his son, and grounded him for a month. It took him a while to acknowledge Sans’ clear ambition for heroism, but when he did, he told him to be careful, and gave him the opportunity to try it out again.

With his father’s blessing, Sans became Time Kid, one of the youngest heroes in the city.

STATS:

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:

+ agility and speed + extremely smart— can use intel on the battlefield + time manipulation— can stop a moment in time for a certain amount of time. He can also fling time disks at people shaped like clocks, which sort of work like bones. + fusion— can fuse with other skeletons at will to help on the battlefield, as long as they consent. - low health - can only use his powers for a certain period of time before he gets tired - can get uncontrollably hyperactive, which is not good for stealthy situations. - fusion can only work when his magic level is full - he’s still developing, so magic may not work as intended at times

FUN FACTS:

- Some students at his school call him Time Kid or TK, even though his name is technically Sans. He’s in no position to complain, though. - TK is 4’6. - TK’s pronouns are he / him. - TK has ADHD! This works both for and against him in the battlefield. - He really wants to be apart of a superhero team. - He can be quite the annoyance to enemies, especially considering he defeats a lot of them. - His best friend is a kid named Frisk at their school. They’re super cool, and helped him make decisions for his superhero job!

And looks like we have rumors floating around that those photos of Flowey as a human dressed in a bunch of costumes were taken from Flowey‘s trip in the Literature Club. Whoever started that rumor was probably lying though. When nobody knows exactly what happened, you end up with lots of stories of what might’ve happened. This is one of the more outlandish rumors, what, do they seriously expect us to believe Flowey just wandered outside the literature club and went to star in some fashion show that probably wouldn’t have even been programmed into the game?

But no… just because it’s a human Flowey, there’s all this hype about “lost footage from Flowey’s trip to another world”… I’ve even seen some allegations floating around claim that what Flowey wore at the end was Flowey stealing from Natsuki! Such obvious clickbait… Why would he steal from Natsuki… especially when it’s clear he didn’t even like what he was wearing? Really, next up they’ll start claiming the CORE was built by aliens or something… 

We still have no footage of Flowey’s trip to the Literature Club, and that’s just something we have to accept. Just going around believing all this “lost footage” to avoid accepting the fact that we don’t have it is not a wise thing to do. (I mean, okay, maybe the footage over at justanechoflower-ddlc is legit, we haven’t been able to find a reason why it isn’t legit. We haven’t been able to prove it is legit either though, so please don’t put too must trust in it. It’s all too common for people to film fake footage for clout. So please take that with a heavy grain of salt. And, what do you know, no fashion photos! Because again, the fashion photos clearly didn’t come from the Literature Club. That would be preposterous to claim.)

I would say the fashion photos were just plain imageshopped just to get clicks, but that last one does seem to show a genuine reaction, and not one I could see Flowey having elsewhere and just imageshopped onto those clothes. And there aren’t any clear Imageshopped artifacts this time around. I guess someone turned him human again. Apparently he “signed up for this”?

Maybe later we’ll learn who Flowey’s client for all of this was. A journalist being be able to help crack that mystery, as well as where those photos were taken from. For now, I guess enjoy the show. The photos’ true origins are still unknown…

And… maybe don’t spam Flowey about them. This doesn’t seem like something he’s that proud of… And it might not even be THIS timeline’s Flowey.

Anyway, for the weather… as always, it’s snowy in Snowdin, the heat wave in Hotland still hasn’t gone away… there isn’t really actual weather, why does this even have a weather segment? There’s no weather, we’ve got nothing to put in there! Well, whatever. I guess this is over.

(And now for “behind the scenes! “ to answer some of your questions, the mastermind behind this scheme is our one and only Frisk Dreemurr! From our secret, special, and very-reliable sources, witnesses have seen Flowey the human and Frisk wandering together at the mall and going in and out of certain stores off-camera. They were also claimed carry shopping bags of new clothing time from time. It can be hypothesized that they had promised to buy Flowey specific outfits he liked in exchange that Frisk is the one who picks them out for him to try. )

(Even if Buttercup may only be a human for a short while, it gets unsanitary to wear the same clothes for several days, so in the meantime Frisk does what friends do and buys a useful gift to help their friend- with a fun cache!)

(What a fun backstory to this event. Remember folks, not everything happens on camera! Who knows what every minute of someone’s life is like outside of oneself? )

I saw you posted about it a while back on clarewashere (I would have submitted this ask there but that blog didn’t have an ask option!). I have always hated true crime podcasts but I know you’re super educated on the criminal justice system and I would love to hear your perspective

hi beloved! thank you for the question! also yeah I have my asks off on that blog because one time someone sent me anon hate on there but didn't realize it was my main and that I'm, yknow, me, which was really hilarious lol. anyway.

soooo god I have myriad problems with the true crime genre. it pretty much does everything possible wrong when dealing with conversations around policing, criminalization, and incarceration, and yes I even mean the 'sensitive' true crime people and not just the YouTubers who do makeup while talking about, like, Ted Bundy or whatever it is they discuss.

true crime as a genre and phenomenon sensationalizes crime, creates an unrealistic culture of fear based on wildly standout incidents of violence, and reinforces false ideas that a) police in this country solve crimes, which they don't, FBI statistics on homicide clearance rate give a (very optimistic!) estimation that about 54% of homicides are being solved per annum; b) kidnapping, murder, other violent crimes are a significant portion of the prison population, which they absolutely are not; c) that white people are just as likely to experience violent crime as people of color, which they aren't at all. the airtime that these incredibly niche, outlying stories get overwhelms real conversations about the carceral state in America (prison gerrymandering! over-policing minority neighborhoods! stop and frisk! civil asset forfeiture!), and they also strengthen this insane mythos that there is a hard line between perpetrators of crime and victims of crime, which, no, there absolutely is not. an overwhelming majority of incarcerated persons have themselves been victims of some form of crime. crime is born from poverty, from underfunded school systems, from homelessness, from lack of healthcare, from feeding drugs into Black communities and then arresting drug users. it is a function of the structural racism and classism that permeate the American reality. it's not just joe criminal waking up one day and grabbing an axe. like yes of course that happens, and it is terrible when it does, but to only report on that/make it a feature of a media subculture is frightening.

and people might say, oh, well, what's the harm? it's just a youtube video!!! but the popularity of narratives like those spread by true crime pods/videos is, and let me make this clear, exactly what tough-on-crime lobbyists and legislators want. how do you think laws like "Three Strikes You're Out" get passed? the popular consciousness gets swept into a moral panic about violent crime and looks to expand the prison system as a means of harm reduction.

and to anticipate another counterpoint: when people are like, but it's spreading awareness!!! ok…awareness of…ongoing police investigations? great. and which investigations in particular? whose stories get told, and whose get ignored? I remember seeing some dumbass take that true crime pods 'spread awareness about domestic violence.' cool. and what structural solutions are we positing? what resources to possible victims are we providing? what funding toward shelters, toward civil legal funds, is being allotted from the earnings? yeah I thought so.

outside of its larger effects on its consumers' understanding of criminalization, true crime is so gross on a human level: these are real people's stories. these are real families of victims who have to watch their loved ones' deaths get discourse-ified and mangled on the internet like it's the latest episode of fucking Game of Thrones. Netflix and other streaming services have created scripted TV shows and films based on real human suffering without ever checking with the families or getting approval. and, honestly, even those scant YouTubers who get families' approvals, I still think it's sketchy as fuck. like, you're still profiting off of this, if not financially, then with it being your entire career just sitting in your house telling the stories of other people's trauma for clicks. yikes?

"After spending 6-8 hours of going through and researching entries on the leaked no fly list and (more interestingly) the enhanced screening list, a handful of general thoughts:

(obviously these are limited, as I haven't spen as much time as I'd like yet on it)

1) As you'd expect, the vast vast majority of entries are obviously Arabic names. About a third of the list had last names that start with A, for example.

2) The next most common names are Latino names, and Central Asian/North Caucasus Muslim names. Names with these origins are probably something around 90-95% of the list, at least.

3) The screening list (much, much shorter than the No Fly list - "only" around 250k entries for it) is certainly more interesting for researchers/journalists, as the folks on there may have no idea that they're on the list (except being hassled by the TSA a lot).

4) As many other outlets have noted, 250k "entries" does not equal 250k people. They include lots of alternate spellings and possible pseudonyms.

For example: Girkin is on the list as Igor Vsevolodovich Girkin, Ihor Strelkov, Igor Ivanovich Strelkov, and Igor Strelok.

5) Many participants from the 2017 Charlottesville Unite the Right were added to the enhanced screening list. The far-right/white supremacists on the list also include people who called in death/bomb threats to churches, schools, etc.

6) There are some very strange entries in there that I can't figure out the reasoning behind. For example, there's an elderly French poet/literary critic who I think is on the enhanced screening list -- but I can't find a single controversial or criminal thing he's done.

(I may be wrong with him, as there may be a person with his namesake born the same year, but I can't find anyone else who would flag suspicion with his name/birth year)

7) There are many people on the enhanced screening list who have done horrific crimes, but I'm not quite sure why their travel would be restricted. For example, someone who was jailed for accessing CP is on the list -- perhaps there are questions concerning human trafficking?

(I'm not crying any tears that this guy or Unite the Right participants get stopped by the TSA every time they go to the airport, but I am curious about some of the reasoning behind putting certain people on a travel restriction list)

8) You'll be shocked to learn that bin Laden was on the no fly list. [Attached is a screenshot of Bin Laden's entry on the list]

9) I'm curious at how some journalists/researchers approach coverage of this as people comb through the list more. How many people are going to realize that they were getting extra frisks by the TSA for years because they were on the enhanced screening list?

Congressman Louis Stokes (February 23, 1925 – August 18, 2015) was an attorney, civil rights pioneer, and politician. He served 15 terms in the House of Representatives – representing the east side of Cleveland – and was the first African American congressman elected in the state of Ohio. Hello everyone, my name is PM1 and I bring you 2 Undertale AUs that are my take on the original story and making my own unique and creative twist that hasn't been done before. Here are the two AUs and the synopsis of each AU mentioned:

DistinguishableChange- A story that takes the original story but changes one aspect of each character and executes it well to turn them unique. The story takes place in a modern setting where in the year 1817, a human found a monster exiting a mountain called Mt. Ebott and at first, they were hostile towards each other. But when they got to know each other more, both the human and monster species became friends, helping each other advance and develop overtime. However recently the monsters have became silent and the humans have became concerned, wondering what has happened to their fellow friends. That is when Frisk, an 8 year old little girl who is a journalist and is curious over the mysteries of the world, decided to explore the inside of the mountain and uncover the secrets of the Underground.

Amalgamtale- This is my take on a horror AU where no mercy is allowed for most of the monsters and your Determination is limited. The story starts off before the war where a virus infected all of Monsterkind and is the cause of the war. After the war, the humans banished the monsters underground with a powerful barrior and the humans forcefully advanced more efficiently by treating humans with less care, including children. As for Monsters, the disease varied in effects but the main effects include mutilation, a more rouge mindset and the intent to kill. Frisk, being tired of how humans have been treating her, runs away from her city until she accidentally fell down the mountain and now has to deal with the hell of the Underground.

I am so sick of hearing that both sides are the same, that it doesn't matter who wins the election, that Biden is just as bad as Trump, that it's not critical that we all turn out to vote this fall.

They are not the fucking same.
