I lied in my last post, I was still sick as fuck, I got even more sick, stayed at the hospital, got home, and am now recovering at home❤️ (this is what I get for having no immune system and believing that other people arent dirty ass looking ass assholes who wash their hands)

Have I written anything while I was gone? HECK no, Ive been staring at walls and reading fics, which I hadn’t done in a while! Was very enjoyable, I re-explored a few of my previous fandoms that I have husbandos in and am now back! Semi! Hopefully! 🙃

currently reading: technically I’m in between books rn because I’m about to start a million different ones for classes, but I did just pick up Dune Messiah again to glance at while not busy at school. I’m also awaiting new updates from about 4 ao3 fics that I’m currently into. 

favourite colour: I’m sorta really into purple rn actually, but I’ve been wearing predominantly black for a few months straight now

last song: uhh “A Lot’s Gonna Change” by Weyes Blood came on shuffle last night, but the last song I voluntarily played was “Genesis” by Grimes I believe.

last movie: Dune (2021) I think

sweet/spicy/savory: depends on the day but generally savory and spicy. I only ever really crave sweet food when I’m on my period lol

currently working on: started writing a little something for a couple of oc fics (one for Dune that I've been brewing on for ages, and one for Avatar 2 that is not nearly fleshed out enough to have a decent plot idea yet), as well as an oil painting that I lowkey don’t like that much atm, and a million different things for homework

It sure as fuck almost wasn’t me, my immunocompromised looking ass was given something by someone and I had a 101F 102F 103F fever for a solid three days, then it went down, and then it went back up again 🙃 ya girl was FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE

I cant even tell you the number of tylenols I took (its alot. Like, too much type of alot and too much for me to actually tell you a number because I know Ill be flamed by my nurse friends).

My voice is fucked, my throat has fucked off AND!! AND!! THE BEST PART: MY FOREHEAD IS NOW FULL OF PSORIASIS

Here is a Jossambird self confession for you all, while I’m feeling extremely vulnerable and am stupidly thinking of openly saying this:

I didn’t talk about it to anyone (maybe 3 people max) because I wasn’t and still am not comfortable talking about it but the reason I haven’t been writing is because of a certain energy I had been seeing and still am seeing in the Ghost fandom that completely sucked my energy DRY.

There has been this… weird weird energy that my sleep deprived mind can’t describe exactly but it was this energy of…

I don’t know, like Pedestal-lism, if that makes sense? It’s an energy of putting someone on a pedestal and venerating them and/or their writing, while simultaneously ignoring other writers because they aren’t in the same friend group. But extreme.

It’s going as far as sending me anons, telling me my writing isn’t as good as these other writers. Why? I don’t know why. It’s not as if I’m popular, my posts get 100 notes and less.

As I write this now, I’ve completely lost all energy to even continue to write this post. My writing will continue to still be compared to other writers, and I am too burnt out to contest that.

Is Rooted in your Love abandoned? Of course not. I just think my life is too chaotic right now to begin to try and feel better about my own writing style and fics.

I will most likely delete this post come tomorrow afternoon. Just wanted to vent my personal experience of losing the passion of something I loved to do.

Hello all!

These past two months (or more), Ive really been struggling with liking my own writing/liking my fics.

Its hard to leave Imposter Syndrome in the past and to not let it affect me, but I read something that was very interesting about how to help combat it (I am insanely devastated that I didnt think to screenshot the post so I could link it here).

The post was about having people who read your fic tell you about your own fic, but for the reader to describe it as if it was someone else who wrote it and not me. Pretend like I am a friend who you are recommending the fic to, basically. Tell me your likes, your opinions, your speculations, your frustrations; anything and everything you would tell a friend.

The person went on to explain how sometimes, seeing your work through the eyes of others helps you recognize your hard work, talent and helps soothe your fears/Imposter Syndrome.

To the people who love my fics and would like to help me see if something like this could help, please send me an anon, I would be delighted to read your messages!
